Vital-Master v2c43

Volume 2 Chapter 43

The Dungeon Master finally stopped clapping, and I took the chance to ask a question.

”Dungeon Master… is this place like the Phase One Dungeon? Is it a spot where the Dungeon Master is supposed to show up?”

”Nope! Actually, it’s not! Normally, I can only manifest on the final floor of the Phase One Dungeon—where we first met—and the final floor of the Phase Six Dungeon! My presence here is a total exception. Honestly, I’m pushing my limits just to stay in this form!”

The Dungeon Master kept a beaming smile, but apparently, they were straining themselves.

So, there really was a Phase Six. It looked like Phase Five, which everyone called the “ultimate difficulty,” wasn’t actually the peak of the dungeon world.

 Anyway…

”I-I see… Then why go through all the trouble to come here?”

”Well, to put it simply, your world is in deep trouble!”

”Deep trouble… Does this have something to do with the recent dungeon proliferation? When we tried asking the ‘you’ back in Phase One, we didn’t get an answer…”

Mana questioned the Dungeon Master while using her fingertip to slide her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

”The version of me in Phase One couldn’t answer because of clearance levels! The authority granted to me there is very limited, so I wasn’t allowed to discuss these unforeseen glitches! However, since I have Phase Five clearance here, I can answer almost anything!”

So, the Dungeon Master standing before us was basically an upgraded version.

The entity paused for a moment before speaking again.

”…Now, as for your question… you hit the nail on the head! Full points! To be honest, our world has lost control over the dungeon management system! The fact that dungeons are multiplying starting from Phase Two is a direct result of that failure!”

”H-huh? How did things get that messy?! When we met in Phase One, you said you guys were strictly managing this whole invasion thing!”

The anger in Maria-san’s voice was completely justified.

The invading world gains Soul Force, and we get resources from the managed dungeons.

The Dungeon Master had previously described it as a perfect win-win relationship.

”You’re right, you’re absolutely right! But—! Systems tend to break down when there’s no one left to run them! You see, due to a tiny little rift, our world was completely wiped out by God! The management system is still running, but it’s stuck in a state where no one can push any updates!”

”W-wiped out… Wait, your home planet is just gone?”

Minami-chan tilted her head, her cute pigtails swaying with the movement.

”That’s exactly right! The whole planet went KABOOM! The evacuation ships? Also KABOOM! Not a single survivor! Man, the legends are true—God really is terrifying when You make Him angry!”

The Dungeon Master kept a light, airy tone, but it seemed their home world really had been annihilated.

”So, does your appearance here mean you intend to help us?”

Haruka-san showed a sharp, determined expression as she questioned the Dungeon Master.

(Looking at her now, it was hard to believe she was the same person who enjoyed sniffing my junk.)

”Essentially, yes! I plan to use every bit of my authority to help the Locals control the dungeons and assist in your conquests! That’s why I’ve been trying to freeze the Phase Six Dungeon functions temporarily, but…”

The entity looked a bit hesitant.

”The clearing of a Phase Five Dungeon is hard-coded to trigger the opening of Phase Six… and, well, that’s a process even I can’t stop.”

”What do you mean you can’t stop it? What’s going to happen to us?!”

Sakurako-san leaned in toward the Dungeon Master, her kimono rustling as she moved.

”It’s pretty straightforward. In Japan alone, seven separate entrances to the Phase Six Dungeons will open! Now, if you guys were in a position to clear them normally, it wouldn’t be an issue… but the Phase Six ‘trash mobs’ are about as strong as the final boss you just killed. Clearing them normally is going to be… well, a bit of a nightmare!”

”A nightmare… and if we can’t clear them?”

”Well… it’s hard to say, but a ‘Dungeon Stampede’ will occur, just like with the other dungeons. Monsters will pour out of the entrances. If the Phase Six monsters flood your world, it’ll be saturated with Phase Six Dungeon Energy. Your world will literally transform into a habitat for monsters! And if that happens…”

The Dungeon Master trailed off, but I could easily imagine a post-apocalyptic wasteland where apex predators roamed the streets.

”…I’ll do my best to suppress the monster growth in Phase Six, but I don’t have the clearance to manage every single dungeon! I’m truly sorry, but I have to ask you—the heroes who proved themselves by clearing Phase Five—to please take on Phase Six! I’ll provide whatever support I can!”

 The Dungeon Master bowed deeply.

Even if the root cause was their world’s failure, we were the ones currently benefiting from the dungeon’s resources.

If the system was spiraling out of control, it was our job as Dungeon Explorers to rein it in.

”We have no choice… Guys, let’s give it everything we’ve got!”

”You’re right, Kanade-kun! We can do this.”

”Mhm! Kanade-chi, Minami-chan is going to go all out!”

”I’ll do my best to help, even if I’m not much use!”

 ”I’m in too—”

”Count me in. I’m fighting with you till the end!”

After leaving the Phase Five Dungeon, we headed straight for the Dungeon Explorer Guild HQ to prepare for the multiplying dungeons and the impending Phase Six disaster.

From that day forward, our party, “Resonant Melody”—now with Sakurako-san as a full member—pushed ourselves to the limit to prevent a Phase Six Stampede.

 But reality was heartless.

We spent our days culling the endless swarms in Phase Two, Three, and Four. We dealt with constant Dungeon Revolutions. We watched as other parties occasionally managed to fully clear a Phase Five.

But Phase Six was simply too much.

Maybe if every single Dungeon Explorer had united, we would have stood a chance. But there were always those who preferred to sabotage others rather than help.

After a long, desperate struggle… the moment we all feared finally arrived.

The Phase Six Dungeon Stampede began.

Our world was swallowed whole by monsters that were simply too powerful to kill.

Devoted to healer Kanade, she finds intense physical restoration through his pressure point techniques and plans to give him her virginity upon their first meeting, aiding his party’s rapid ascent through Shinjuku’s high-level dungeon layers.

• Minami – Blue-haired twintail loli with a cheerful, high-energy aura, member of Resonant Melody and the protagonist’s party, specializing in speed with rapid rhythmic sword thrusts enhanced by Wind-Step and Sky-Run for 3D mobility. • Sakurako – Striking sharp‑eyed S‑Rank explorer, the voluptuous “Samurai of Solitude” wears a loose kimono and wields a katana. She uses “ore,” bears a curvy, toned form, and can summon 100+ clones. Mentor to Kanade’s party, close to Ichigaya Rin, and now cheerful in Resonant Melody, she guards Japan against stampedes.

• Kanade – Kanade, the composed leader of A-Rank team Resonant Melody, wields the Unique Job “Vital Point Master,” mastering pressure point techniques to heal, buff, debuff, and trigger Instant Death through intimate physical contact—fueled by deep emotional bonds, especially with Maria, his savior and romantic anchor, and Sakurako, whose body he knows with clinical yet affectionate precision. Clad in a sleek black anaconda suit, he exudes calm authority, a masculine scent, and a steady smile, turning pleasure-infused stimulation into strategic advantage. Though once lacking raw combat power and Phase Five abilities, he has now mastered them, elevating him from support to indispensable linchpin. His uncanny intent-reading and tactical brilliance save teams, even as he battles guilt over intimate healing sessions—making him the quiet, indispensable heart of Resonant Melody, tasked with clearing high-level dungeons to prevent world collapse.
