It was no surprise that after his previous sting operation, the other side wouldn’t just take it lying down.
Once they made their move, he would have free rein to slaughter every last threat.
Though he talked about a total purge, it was impossible for “Natural”¹ to wipe out everyone in the Miura Corporation from top to bottom; most were just average office workers.
As for the executives—at least the board of directors and that Department Manager who had harassed Mrs. Takamine—Aki had no intention of letting a single one of them live.
As for the fallout—what would happen to the Miura Corporation or where the employees would end up—Himejima Akeno-san said she could handle it.
”Natural” didn’t need to waste his breath worrying about such things.
There was a chance the enemy might dig into Aki’s background and lose their nerve.
It wasn’t impossible, but the odds were microscopic.
While it was child’s play for the Gremory family to investigate the Miura group, it was a different story for them to try and flip the script on Aki.
First off, their primary targets for investigation would undoubtedly be Takamine Ayame and Takamine Sayuri; they’d never even link the situation to Aki.
Even if some meticulous bastard tried to dig up intel on him, they’d likely come up empty.

As a secret weapon, Rias-san and Shitori Sona-san kept his existence under total lockdown.

Until a contract was signed through other means, any leak of this information would be a massive headache for all three factions.
As the future heads of Pure-blood Demon clans, Rias-san and Shitori Sona-san would see their reputations dragged through the mud.
More importantly, Aki would become a high-value target for every Stray Devil in existence.
One day, some reckless idiot might just kidnap Aki and drag him to the Underworld for research.
As for the Sacred Gear⁵, that was a secret kept strictly within the ORC; he hadn’t even let Shitori Sona-san in on that yet.
At full throttle, Aki could hold his own against anything short of a Demon King-class entity—the EX-rank powerhouses.

It was worth noting that before the enemies arrived, Aki received a tip from two young girls telling him to run for it.
They warned him that the people coming this time could use magic.
They were the sisters Aki had helped previously; since that incident, they had stayed in constant contact with the Takamine sisters.
Aki wasn’t particularly interested in the specifics of their girl talk, so he didn’t ask; he’d nearly forgotten what they even looked like.
However, Ayame and Sayuri seemed to pity the pair.
If not for Aki’s hard-and-fast rules, they would have likely tried to recruit the sisters into the organization.
In reality, once a girl had been with Aki—no matter how casual or “Gyaru” she was—she essentially lost all sexual interest in other men.
Still, compared to the faithful beauties, girls like that were a bit less reliable.
There was always that nagging worry about being cuckolded.

The Miura Company and the Mita-kai were based in the Meguro Ward; their headquarters were right in the heart of it.
But with a proper excuse, any rival faction would have to give way to one of the few upper-tier Pure-blood Demon families.
Selling out two groups of mere humans was a small price to pay.
Besides, neither group was worth saving.
Whether it was the Miura Company or the Mita-kai, their closets were overflowing with skeletons.
Beyond the usual murder and arson, they thought nothing of kidnapping the families of rival CEOs, rigging bids, or greasing the palms of government officials.
That Department Manager alone had used his position to violate no fewer than a dozen female employees and secretaries.
The sexual harassment claims only surfaced because he had become so depraved that even their money couldn’t bury the noise anymore.
If a mere Department Manager was that rotten, the board members were undoubtedly worse.
Aki had spent the last two days digging all of this up.

In a capitalist society—especially in a place like Neon where massive conglomerates rule and the yakuza are a legal fixture—almost no one reaches the top without being a predator.
The good people are culled in the first few rounds of the game.
The lucky ones go back to being nobodies.
The unlucky ones end up feeding the fish in Tokyo Bay or get cemented into the foundation of a new skyscraper.
Aki knew he was a total scumbag with a moral compass that was flexible at best and a heart of ice toward his enemies.
But looking at these people, he realized he was practically a saint.

”Fifteen vehicles. They’ve completely cordoned us off.”
”The A-Rank guy stayed home, and only three of the B-Ranks showed up… one’s missing. Guess they really didn’t do their homework on me, or they couldn’t find a damn thing.”
Aki gave a mocking laugh.
”I’m going out first. Once they actually attack me, I’ll play the part of the mortally wounded victim. Then, you girls can go wild.”
To make sure the evidence was ironclad, he set up a high-definition camera he’d bought specifically for this, angling it perfectly toward the entrance.
”Is this the place?” asked Akira.
”Yes, Master Nue,” replied a voice.
”Something’s wrong. There are too many auras in there. It’s definitely more than four people,” said Nue¹⁰.
”Hmph. Those two little bitches probably squealed. The kid likely hired some extra muscle in advance,” Akira said.
Listening to the voices outside the foyer—one belonged to Miura Akira, the other to a B-Rank supernatural.
Judging by the name and the magical feedback, this guy was some kind of avian Youkai.
