Volume 2 Chapter 24 Interrogation

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

I was able to artificially reproduce the “Shishi-odoshi (deer scare)”¹ that I learned from Pamela, using an idea I came up with during today’s “Basic Magic Theory”² lecture.

By the way, the “Shishi-odoshi (deer scare)” here is not the elegant Japanese garden device made of bamboo from my previous life, but a type of magic that makes an explosive sound, a technique supposedly only possible for an Elf Mage.

However, I was so happy that I could reproduce that magic, which supposedly only an Elf Mage could do, according to the theory I thought up, that I fired this “Artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare)” repeatedly with bangs, laughing and rejoicing, when Principal Annerose appeared right in front of me.

”Larry Fee Getys, come to the Principal’s office for a moment.”

Yesterday, because I had Pamela perform the “Shishi-odoshi (deer scare)” for me, Henrietta-san gave me a tedious lecture, so I thought I was being scolded for the noise and meekly followed her to the Principal’s office.

When I entered the Principal’s office from the Courtyard, the sheets on the canopy bed on the right side were disheveled.

Could it be that the Principal was in the middle of a nap?

I reflected on that, feeling bad for doing something disruptive.

As for the Principal, she rang a bell, called an office worker, whispered in their ear, and then turned toward me.

”Do you understand the reason why I had you come here?”

This Principal has a cute name like Annerose, but she belongs to the Dwarf race, has a low voice, and talks like a man when she gets angry.

There is no doubt that this has gone straight to her head.

”It is because I made a loud noise, right? I am sorry.”

I did not want to be lectured tediously like Henrietta-san did, so I apologized quickly.

 ”Foolish,” said Annerose.

”The Artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare) you performed is a technique of the Empire of Rus, something the Military Academy is currently researching to see if our country can create it as well!”

Chapter illustration

 Huh?

”You probably made it easily by applying knowledge from another world, but originally it is not something that should be shown off so easily.”

Eh, well, if that is the case, I might have done something thoughtless.

But I cannot judge whether what I thought of is such an important matter or not.

”Um, but it is almost entirely just sound. Well, if it scores a direct hit, it might temporarily make it so they cannot hear sounds, though.”

”It is not a matter of degree. In the first place, why do you think the Kingdom of Larland, which was a major power, was swallowed by the Empire of Rus?”

”Could it be, because of the Artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare)?”

”Generally, it is not known, but think about it. When attacking a castle with a Shishi-odoshi (deer scare), you can render the opponent helpless, even if temporarily. Think about how much of an advantage you can gain just by that. If you aim it at charging cavalry, their formation will collapse, and if you fire it at incoming arrows, their aim will be disrupted.”

Now that it was pointed out to me, it certainly seemed like a weapon that could be used for both offense and defense, but it does not kill or wound.

”But, Elf Mages can use Shishi-odoshi (deer scare) normally, right?”

”Being able to fire continuously like you did is limited to only a portion of people, even among Elf Mages. Furthermore, the number of Elf Mages who can exhibit power that can be used for military actions is even smaller.”

 Is that so?

Indeed, I must not think based on Grand Commander as the standard.

”Eh, but why does the Empire of Rus, which can use the Artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare), not lay a hand on Schweilitz?”

”The Artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare) does not work on Golems either.”

 Ah, I see.

That is why one company of the Golem Battalion is stuck to the border with Rus.

Ah, didn’t Bours’s Son-san marry the company Commander there?

”So, what should I do from now on?”

 ”I will have you confined.”

”Even though I am under house arrest and cannot even go to the city to play, it is confinement?”

”Right now, I am sending someone to call people. On top of that, I will think about future responses.”

Man, this world is so tedious.

”Could it be something like the Principal investigates it herself and that is the end of it?”

”Are you an idiot? I do not want to be eyed by the military or the Kingdom government under the suspicion that I peeked into your consciousness and arbitrarily obtained unknown knowledge or wisdom.”

Eh, am I really that dangerous?

”Then, what about Henrietta-san or Pamela?”

”Naturally, they will probably be investigated by an interrogator.”

”No way, those people probably do not look at my consciousness in that kind of way.”

I think it is probably just about an outlet for sexual desire.

”The interrogator has it rough too. Rummaging through the consciousness of that massive pervert.”

The Principal also knows that Henrietta-san is a massive pervert.

”Then, what about Nico or Marie? Are they no problem?”

”Nico is no problem, but Marie managed to enroll, and they will probably confirm whether Mind-reading”³ is truly impossible. If there are others you contacted, shall I hear them now while we have the chance?”

”I also did Telepathy” with Student Council President-san at the New Year’s Eve party. After that, the blonde freshman representative who came from the Royal Capital and was giving the greeting.”

 ”Doris・Möller, right? Anyone else?”

”Ah—, a slightly strange girl, what was her name again?”

”Could it be that you did it with Romy・Odonkor as well? Even though I told you that the only ones you are allowed to have sexual intercourse with are the three of them—Nico, Henrietta, and Marie. It is only January. To think you have laid hands on three others besides them.”

The Principal held her head in her hands.

”Um, I only danced with Student Council President, and as for Doris, was it? I did not have sexual intercourse with that girl, that was strictly just being kissed, and there was almost no contact of consciousness.”

 ”Then, what about Romy?”

”That is, well, I ended up doing it. But, about that…”

”Enough already. Besides, I told you to report it if you did it, right?”

Certainly, did I not mention the New Year’s Eve party?

When the Principal stood up, she rang the bell again to call the office worker, and whispered in their ear again.

I think she probably told them to gather the people I just mentioned.

 ”Haaaaaa.”

Instead of the sofa, the Principal sat in the chair of her executive desk, let out a big sigh, and deliberately started doing her work.

”Um, I have nothing to do, so may I sleep on the sofa?”

Even though it is a young body, yesterday’s fatigue has still not been recovered.

”You are an eyesore, so could you sleep in the bed? There is no saying no, since you have slept there before.”

If I sleep on the sofa in front of the executive desk, it is certainly an eyesore.

And, well, since I have borrowed it before, there is no saying no.

I put the disarranged sheet back, and lay down from above the blanket.

A comfortable bed to sleep in, it is like Louise’s bed.

And, carelessly, I fell fast asleep just like that.

When I noticed, two old guys were holding my hands, one on each side.

 ”Uwaaa!”

(I don’t have that kind of preference!)

I shook off the hands that were holding mine and sat up.

”Ah, it is fine now,” said one of the men.

One of the old guys said that toward the Principal.

These two seem to be military-related people, and they are wearing clothing appropriate for that.

Could it be that they are the people called interrogators?

”Anything other than the Artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare)?” asked Annerose.

The Principal asks the old guy who said it was fine.

”Well, it seems he wants to make something called a motor that runs on Mana”, but it seems he does not even have an idea about the parts to be created, and, well…”

”Does that thing called a motor serve any use?” asked Annerose.

 The Principal asked curiously.

”Ah—, it seems it is a component to move a thing shaped like a man’s… well, that thing, inside a woman, in order to satisfy the sexual fetish of the researcher in charge.”

I do not think words like electric vibrator exist in this world, but to counter Henrietta-san’s sexual fetish, it is impossible unless it is something like that.

Well, it is not something I can say with a loud voice, but in the first place, I want to say with a loud voice: why is that massive pervert the one in charge of me?

Though I am being allowed to play around with her to some extent.

I just noticed now, but on the sofa was Viscount Bizan’s house Steward, Walter・von・Riedel-san, and another old guy I have seen somewhere.

The Principal, completely dumbfounded by the words of the old guy who seemed to be the interrogator, beckons me over.

”He had ideas for improving the Artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare).”

 A voice from behind me.

Certainly, I was thinking about things like the way to wind the magic thread, or pipes to maintain the shape of the coil.

”Just by you being in the territorial capital, it is amusing.”

When I approached the sofa, the Viscount’s house Steward called out to me while laughing.

And, the other person, I cannot remember.

”This is Second Lieutenant Lucas・Fischer, the Principal of the Military Academy.”

It is the short, stubby old guy who came to the welcome party.

I feel like his name is way too grand for him.

”It is the second time meeting Larry-kun. Just as the house Steward says, this city does not get boring when you are here,” said Fischer.

I can only say that I am humbled.

Annerose Principal who says, he is supposedly the witness to the interrogation of me—no, of us.

While we were talking about the aftermath of the welcome party, Henrietta-san and Pamela arrived, were made to lie on the bed, had their hands held by the interrogators, were interrogated via Mind-reading, and were judged as no problem.

Furthermore, it was conducted for Student Council President, Doris, Marie, and Romy as well, but it turned out to be no problem.

 However, several problems were raised.

First, how Romy was able to enroll.

Despite her being unable to do Telepathy, let alone Mind-reading, even if it is the lowest-tier Magic School, a report was made to the Principal, while the interrogator noted that it was outside their authority.

The Principal herself scrutinized the contents of the entrance exam but does not know the reason; she seems to think that at this rate, she will have no choice but to have her repeat a year twice and be expelled.

Another point is the reason Henrietta-san was chosen as the person in charge of me.

In terms of ability there is no problem, but the opinion was put forward by the interrogator that placing her, who has an abnormal sexual fetish, in charge of a young man is problematic, even considering that there are no other Simple-type Research Students.

That is right, that is right.

”Well, even if Larry looks like Children on the outside, the reincarnated person inside is quite an adult. I judged that it would not affect mental growth. I thought that if she was assigned to him, he would not lay hands on other women… well, he is more undisciplined than I thought, so I am not entirely without regrets on that point,” said Annerose.

Regarding Henrietta-san, it became status quo as unavoidable due to the Principal’s reply.

An am I really that undisciplined?

That is a rude thing to say.

However, I was strictly told that I must not create magical items on my own authority.

When making them, I must consult with Henrietta-san, and one more thing.

I was told that because they will send a lecturer from the military academy who is knowledgeable about magical weapons once a week, I should talk with that guy about anything at all.

Well, on my side as well, it is tedious to have a huge uproar like this time happen, so I lightly gave an OK, thinking it would be fine if I just consult with that guy.

* * *

 One week passed since then.

There was nothing from the classes that particularly sparked inspiration.

In the laboratory, I was continuously made to do nothing but create the hull of a magic ship, and days continued where I returned to my room at the scheduled time and exerted myself in an Amber-charging part-time job.

One day, when I went to the laboratory after finishing my meal, unusually, Henrietta-san was wearing a black Gothic Lolita outfit and staring intently at a blueprint.

 ”Do you have errands today?”

”Yeah, it’s a New Year’s party. Even though it’s completely unrelated to work, you’re expected to butter up your boss and drink alcohol you don’t even want. I seriously wish they’d do away with this nonsense.”

She was complaining about the exact same things as the young folks back in my previous life.

”Well, it’s all part of playing the corporate game, you know. Half of it is basically just an extension of the job.”

Speaking from the mindset of my past life, the words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them.

”Ain’t that the truth. I’ve resigned myself to it, but it still just doesn’t sit right with me.”

I suppose that’s just how it felt when you were young.

”By the way, who do you think is going to end up assigned to this laboratory?”

”Probably your girlfriend Marie, I think. The only other Simple-type students left are Ilse the Dwarf and that problem child, Romy. Ilse is originally from Paltofelden, which happens to be the exact region that suffered terrible raiding damages from Marie’s aunt, Isabella. For obvious emotional reasons, there’s no way they’d put them in the same room together.”

Paltofelden, where Ilse’s family lived, was a land that had been raided time and again by the Weasels of Bohemia back when Isabella was operating as their warlord.

Just because Isabella had recently been commissioned as an officer in the Royal Army didn’t mean the horrors of the past could simply be washed away.

Consequently, Ilse did not think highly of Marie at all.

You could easily surmise as much just by watching her cold demeanor in the lecture halls and the Dining Hall.

On top of that, being a Dwarf, Ilse was hoping to get into the exploration track.

When you broke it down like that, since there were only two laboratories available for Simple-type students—Henrietta-san’s lab and the one dedicated to exploration—it was only natural that Marie and I would be assigned to Henrietta-san, while Ilse and Romy would take the exploration room.

”Come to think of it, Henrietta-san, you’re currently researching magitech ships, but what exactly were you working on before this?”

”Oh, transportation Golems. Like this one,” said Henrietta.

What she indicated with her finger was a spot where several flat wooden boards were leaned up against the wall behind her seat.

”Right, I guess I never actually told you about it.”

Saying this, Henrietta-san pulled out a few of the boards.

She slotted a medium-sized amber core into place and held her hand over an open access panel on one of the segments, seemingly synchronizing the components.

”Just give it a second. It’s about to move.”

After a short wait, four plate-like legs suddenly snapped out from the largest board, assembling themselves into a functional table.

Then, a long, flat neck and a cubic head lifted upward, mimicking the distinct silhouette of a horse.

The main board acting as the torso was presumably where the cargo was meant to be loaded.

”With this design, it can walk forward, backward, left, and right. It can even climb up stairs,” she explained.

The clockwork table-horse stomped its legs in place as if to demonstrate.

”If you secure your luggage onto this little guy’s back, you can travel completely hands-free.”

Henrietta-san boasted proudly, but I couldn’t help but wonder if she had actually managed to overcome the inherent structural weaknesses of standard Golems.

”What’s the exact operational limit on its runtime?”

”Oof, you really know how to strike right at a sore spot, don’t you? It’s twenty minutes. At the absolute longest.”

Given that standard large-scale Golems topped out at fifteen minutes, managing an extra five minutes was certainly an improvement, but it hardly seemed like something you could reliably take with you on a long journey.

”I’ve poured an immense amount of ingenuity into tweaking the efficiency, but it’s just an uphill battle.”

”Still, that mechanism for unfolding collapsed boards—don’t you think that concept could be applied to something else?”

The collapsible delivery boxes that pharmaceutical wholesalers used to carry around in my previous life flashed vividly in my mind.

 ”Like what, for instance?”

”Well… like a deployable crate, or… right, it could serve as an instant temporary bridge! Or maybe a pop-up shelter to shield people from a sudden downpour…”

”Alright, save it. I was an idiot for asking you,” Henrietta replied.

I honestly didn’t think they were bad ideas, but carrying a bunch of heavy wooden boards around just on the off-chance that you might suddenly need a bridge or a rain shelter admittedly wasn’t the peak of practicality.

Right as our conversation wrapped up, an administrative clerk from the management building came over to call for me.

”The Professors from the military academy have arrived to see you.”

”Are they waiting in the Principal’s office?”

”No, the Principal mentioned having some business to attend to before the New Year’s party, so they are currently waiting for you in the small conference room of the management building,” the clerk explained.

I had no idea where the small conference room in the management building was located, so I simply followed the clerk’s lead.

”Larry, I’m going to be packing up and heading out in a little bit too, so you’re free to clock out for the day once you’re done,” Henrietta-san called out.

”Got it. I’ll head straight home after this meeting wraps up then.”

Reflecting on how incredibly nostalgic that corporate phrase felt, I made my way toward the management building.

The small conference room turned out to be wedged tightly between the main office and the sewing room.

With roughly ten chairs crammed around a single long table, the room felt incredibly tight and claustrophobic.

The moment I stepped inside, a young man who stood a bit taller than me—a textbook definition of an overly buff, gorilla-muscular type—stood up awkwardly in the cramped space to offer a greeting.

”I am Corporal Thomas Bauer of the Bizan Military Academy.”

Chapter illustration

His facial features were strikingly large but sharp, and he offered his greetings while flashing a brilliant row of perfectly white teeth.

I’ve always been completely terrible at dealing with these blindingly refreshing types.

”Larry Fee Getys. Looking forward to working with you. I have heard a great many rumors regarding your exploits!”

(What kind of rumors? I’m entirely certain none of them are good.)

”If I may cut straight to the chase, would you mind taking a look at this?” asked Thomas.

What Thomas pulled out from his large canvas bag was, in all likelihood, an attempt at an “artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare).”

However, it was covered in bizarre, unnecessary decorations, and worse still, the winding of the magic coil was completely botched.

It was laced haphazardly like a pair of combat boots; wound like that, it would never generate a magitomagnetic field.

”This thing didn’t even budge when you tried to activate it, did it?”

”Wh-?! How could you tell just by looking? But see here, the craftsmanship is absolutely beautiful!”

”It’s not a question of whether it looks pretty or not.”

Whether he was slighted by my blunt assessment or not, his otherwise refreshing face clouded over instantly.

Still, the fact that it hadn’t functioned at all was glaringly obvious.

Well, considering the locals had absolutely zero conceptual understanding of magnetic lines of force generated via induction coils, it couldn’t really be helped.

Even so, I really felt he needed to stop judging mechanical engineering based on aesthetic appeal.

Now then, where exactly should I even begin explaining this?

While I was lost in thought, a sudden knock rattled the door.

”Um, we have an unexpected guest who just arrived from the Royal Capital. Is it alright to let him through?”

The one who cracked the door open was the same administrative clerk from before, but peering over her shoulder was a middle-aged guy familiarly waving his hand right at me.

 Who was that again?

He was clad in a crisp military uniform, and his shoulders bore insignia designating a remarkably high rank.

The difference was pitiful when compared to our refreshing Corporal-san.

The only military official of that caliber I could actually recall off the top of my head was someone around the rank of a Grand Commander.

Still, since keeping such a massive VIP waiting around was out of the question, I gave a firm nod.

The moment the old guy stepped into the room, our refreshing older-brother type instantly snapped to attention, executing a rigid, textbook salute.

 ”Ah, don’t mind me.”

Dismissing the refreshing guy with a casual wave, the older officer turned a massive, beaming smile directly in my direction.

”Larry-kun! Have you managed to grow any taller since we last met?”

The old guy, whose height wasn’t actually much different from my own, walked over, plopped his hand directly on top of my head, and began visibly comparing our statures.

”Well, I suppose your height isn’t going to shoot up in a mere two or three months, hahahahaha!”

Laughing boisterously at his own joke was all well and good, but looking back two or three months ago… was he talking about the incident at Vod Fortress?

”Man, oh man, you really seem to have an absolute knack for stirring up wild gossip wherever you go, don’t you?”

It’s not like I stir it up because I want to.

Seriously, who was this guy again?

”I heard all about it, you know! Word on the street is you fought a proper duel against Sonya! How on earth are you still breathing after a stunt like that?”

He burst out laughing again, slamming his hand repeatedly against my back with enough force to rattle my spine.

 Ah! It clicked!

 ”Major Helbert?!”

”Too bad for you! I’ve officially been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, thank you very much!”

 I officially remembered the man.

He was the commanding officer who had been in charge of Vod Fortress, and he was the one who graciously granted us entry into the stronghold when we had managed to escape through the treacherous mountain pass.

 ”Congratulations on your promotion, sir.”

”Ha! If you’re looking to offer me a proper promotion gift, I’m still actively accepting them, you know!”

”A dirt-poor student like me doesn’t have the kind of pocket change for that, sir.”

”Don’t let it sweat you! I’ll just let you put it on a tab, so rest easy!”

I didn’t entirely dislike cheerful, boisterous people like him.

But dealing with his pacing was always a bit overwhelming.

”So, what exact business brings you here today?”

When I asked the question with a straight, serious face, he let out a booming shout, realizing he had completely slipped up, and hastily beckoned to a woman waiting out in the hallway.

The person who stepped into the room was a woman roughly the same height as the Lieutenant Colonel, featuring thick, curly chestnut hair and large, pronounced facial features.

 A Dwarf?

”Larry-kun, I’ve been led to understand that you’re the mastermind who engineered that artificial Shishi-odoshi (deer scare) contraption, correct?”

 ”Yes, something like that.”

”Right then, I need you to teach the underlying theory to her. She’s a Second Lieutenant stationed with the military’s Arsenal Bureau. Go ahead, introduce yourself.”

When people mentioned the Arsenal, they were talking about the core military factories; I wondered if their division handled the actual R&D for frontline military munitions.

”Um… I am Second Lieutenant Sabrina Haas, representing the Royal Army Arsenal Bureau’s Magical Weapons Division. It is an honor to make your acquaintance.”

Chapter illustration

Prompted by the Lieutenant Colonel, the female Dwarf snapped her arm up into a flawless, disciplined salute directed straight at me.

”Alright! I’ll leave the rest of the details for you young folks to sort out amongst yourselves. This old man has some other pressing business to take care of, so I’m leaving everything in your capable hands!”

”What do you mean ‘leaving it to us’?! Didn’t you travel all the way here from the Royal Capital? Where is she even supposed to stay?!”

”She’s a soldier! A soldier can sleep absolutely anywhere! Heck, throw her in Larry-kun’s room for all I care!”

”Are you completely out of your mind?! Hey! You crazy old guy—!”

Before I could even finish my sentence, he had already turned on his heel and zipped right out of the room.

”That man is technically your commanding officer, right? He just up and abandoned you here, are you honestly okay with this?” asked Larry.

”We have an explicit agreement that he will return to retrieve me exactly three days from now,” Sabrina replied.

 Hah.

Seriously, what am I supposed to do with this situation?

The small conference room—now occupied solely by the sparkling Corporal-san, the Dwarf Second Lieutenant-san, and myself—fell into a sudden, crushing silence.

 Summary:

Larry undergoes a surprise mind-reading interrogation by military officers within the academy’s executive quarters. The investigation turns up zero security threats but completely exposes his plans to create automated adult devices to manage Henrietta-san’s extreme physical boundaries. A final administrative meeting leaves Larry under strict restrictions regarding unauthorized item creation while an unexpected subcultural wardrobe choice creates a new baseline for their ongoing experiments

Moving from laboratory coordination to an abrupt military consultation, Larry navigates complex political and academic divisions. The arrival of his boisterous former commander disrupts the small conference room meeting. An unannounced technical collaboration with a dwarven weapon designer leaves Larry stuck with a tight deadline

 —

 Trivia:

 - The exact border layout reveals that Golem units prevent an expansionist push from the rival Empire of Rus

 - Romy’s entry mechanics showcase a flaw in the school’s typical testing filters due to her absolute lack of telepathic baseline abilities

 - The location details placing the small conference room specifically between the office and the sewing room

 - The underlying reason for separating student labs due to historical regional raids by the Weasels of Bohemi

 —

 Character Insight:

Larry adjusts from tactical defensive panic about national security concerns to a state of profound personal embarrassment regarding his documented lifestyle choices.

Larry demonstrates clear discomfort when dealing with overtly expressive or high-energy characters like Corporal Thomas and Lieutenant Colonel Helbert, favoring direct, logical communication.

Notes:

• Pamela – An ageless, childlike elf slave to Henrietta-san, she is small and baby-faced with a foul mouth and a habit of eating bread with both hands. Hidden beneath white Gothic-Lolita attire that conceals her pointed ears, she possesses vast mana, ancient wisdom, and mastery of Dwarf-style Kumite and advanced elven acoustic magic. She trains the protagonist daily and delivers updates from the capital.

• Theo – A Dwarf. Daniel’s third son, an apprentice in Obernbach, sports bronze curly hair and a neatly trimmed beard, embodying his family’s legacy while learning a trade in the city.

• Annerose – Principal von Bülow is a stern Dwarf woman who leads National Bizan Magic School with an authoritative, masculine manner of speaking and a low, resonant voice. Disciplining her student Larry Fee Getys while managing magical mishaps, she adds a mischievous flair to ceremonies by putting students on the spot. Dignified yet fierce when provoked, she is also the divorced mother of Sabrina Haas.

• Ho – Ho, a comrade of the protagonist. A member of the military unit that defended Garao Village and was slaughtered alongside Marx-san.

• Getys – Larry Fee Getys, a youth from Strock Village in the Viscounty of Bizan, carries a lineage of rugged, battle-scarred warriors like Hardy and his late brother Denis, whose people fell to disease and war. Raised by his aunts Alisa and Monica, Larry’s family name is recognized within his academy’s social hierarchy and is formally invoked by court officials to declare his innocence.

• Larry – Larry Fee Getys is a tall Bizan Magic School student with red-white skin, curly bronze hair, and eyes. A deadpan, undisciplined reincarnated slave-soldier and militia veteran on trial, he uses modern technical knowledge for Golemics, magitech motors, and Shishi-odoshi spells. Married to Nico and linked to Monica, Teressa, and Louise, he fights duels for survival, his fear replaced by a fierce thirst for life.

• Fee – Larry Fee Getys, of the court-recognized Fee lineage, carries his middle name as a symbol of family legacy. He leads the Getys household in governing Strock Village alongside Hans and Iffens, embodying distinguished, cohesive authority. To reinforce their established noble stature, his structured, traditional household recently hired the maid Nico to serve Teressa.

• Henrietta – An eccentric, refined golem researcher with disheveled hair and an exceptionally heavy bust causing severe shoulder tension. Wearing a messy Gothic-Lolita two-piece or a linen blouse and fleece jacket, she runs a lab under Prof. Pauman and holds authority over her slave Pamela. As Larry’s teasing mentor and official supervisor, her chaotic devotion to ancient magic hides an abnormal fetish: she reacts with raw submission and intense physical pleasure to direct mana manipulation, which Larry tries to accommodate or counter with magical inventions.

• Soi – An old professor from Ajire seminary, the first to raise a question. Looks like wizardly.

• Al – Alberto (Al), a massive red‑haired man recently wed to Mary, lives near the Dish Basin. He’s a companion of Hans, helping intimidate and rally elders as a villager and leader.

• Ed – A lanky refugee youth in simple farmer’s garb, Larry’s close friend and soon-to-be conscript, now a militia member training spear-walls; he witnessed the initial skirmish at Mauer Village as part of the group seeking safety in Strock Village, was an associate of Captain Bours, and participated in the ambush of the mercenaries—fiercely protective of Larry, remembered for his quiet resolve to survive the battlefield.

• Commander – A man leading the mercenary press-gang at the south gate.

• Bours – Tall, scarred, in a faded Royal Army uniform, Sullen Bours is a 46‑year‑old human yeoman who manages orchards and vineyards. A retired Western Front captain and Royal Military Academy alumnus who served under Duke Gerhard, he heads the 303rd Militia on the Elders’ Council, is married to Sheeta‑san, father of a conscripted son, and once saved Larry and Rudy.

• Marie – Fifteen-year-old Novakova, a spirited noblewoman and academy student known as the Weasel of Bohemia, resembles Isabella and Nico. Cynical and territorial toward outsiders, she fiercely protects Nico and shares a room and a secret affair with Larry, whom she tutors in law. Masking her deep concern with teasing, she wears a comical floral hairpiece and joyfully celebrates winning a bet on the protagonist’s return.

• Nico – A petite, silver-haired student in a tailored maid outfit, she is a diligent, anxious laundry worker and Village Head Fee member. Devoted to Larry after he saved her from a noble’s son, she shares a room, bed, and intense romantic bond with him, checking his scent for fidelity and initiating late-night intimacy. Insecure from a past kidnapping, she deeply relies on her confidante Marie.

• Mar – A battle‑hardened veteran, clad in worn armor, uses door panels as shields and captures enemy crossbows; Larry’s comrade who teases him about his sister‑in‑law’s pampering, known as Martin to his companion Edmond.

• Möller – Doris carries this family name, establishing her formal identity within student records as the academy’s top freshman and defining her relationships and status among peers.

• Doris – Mueller, a flashy blonde beauty from the Royal Capital, entered the magic academy at the absolute top of her class.
