”Oh! A duel between fellow B-Ranks sounds quite interesting!” Rutger-dono said.
”…” Ursula-dono remained silent.
The moment the duel with Thomas-dono was decided, Rutger-dono and Ursula-dono turned their attention toward us.
To be noticed by famous A-Rank Adventurers—as expected of a B-Rank match.
”I expect a fight worthy of the B-Rank title. If you are far too pathetic, I shall have to ‘instruct’ the juniors,” Rutger-dono said.
”…Rutger, you always overdo it,” Ursula-dono said.
”How rude. I do not break the opponent’s spirit nearly as much as you do,” Rutger-dono replied.
”…” Ursula-dono remained silent.
Whether she had an inkling of what he meant, Ursula-dono quickly averted her eyes.
It was a conversation where it was difficult to judge whether they get along well or poorly.
However, Master, who overheard them, wore a troubled expression.
”Ah, I didn’t mean for it to turn out like this… and on top of that, those two are coming to watch,” Daisuke said.
Master, who was in the middle of preparing for the duel with Thomas-dono, grumbled.
It seemed he did not think it would actually become a duel in the first place.
Moreover, he did not look happy about being watched by the two A-Ranks.
If it was Master, who thoroughly disliked standing out, that was only natural.
This would be the fourth time Master had engaged in a duel.
The first time was wagering Camilla, the second time was with the Vice-Captain of the Knights’ Order, and the third time was with a B-Rank Adventurer during a Designated Request.
In the first duel, it was a profound shock to see high-Level combat up close for the very first time.
Speed, power, technique—everything existed on a completely different dimension from my own.
I had always wanted to become stronger, but being able to witness a concrete goal made me want to strive even harder in my daily training.
Master is usually entirely unhurt, but that was the first time I ever saw him shed blood.
Unfortunately, I did not witness the latter two matches, but I have heard that he won both.
”Daisuke-san, are you going to be okay? Your opponent is Thomas-san, you know?” Grete asked.
”I know he’s a fellow B-Rank Adventurer. I don’t know if I can win, but it’s not like I’m going to die,” Daisuke replied.
”Thomas-san is technically a B-Rank, but ability-wise, people say he is completely equal to an A-Rank,” Grete said.
”Eh, is that so?” Daisuke asked.
According to the well-informed Grete, he simply had not advanced through the deeper layers of the Dungeon to match the pace of his wives, but he possessed ample power fully equivalent to an A-Rank.
”Ah, I see…” Daisuke muttered.
”Daisuke-san, please don’t die, okay?” Grete said.
”I’ll be fine on that front, but, hmm, what should I do…” Daisuke replied.
I did not know what Master was worrying about.
However, I simply could not imagine the sight of Master losing.
”…Alright, I’ve decided. Liese,” Daisuke said.
”Y-Yes!” I replied.
(I am startled by the sudden call. Could it be that he is telling me to come for night attendance the moment this battle concludes?! Ever since I came under Master’s care, I have kept my heart prepared for the moment, but still…!)
”Thomas is a master of the spear. Since it’s a rare opportunity, I’ll fight with a spear too, so it can serve as a reference for your own growth in the future,” Daisuke said.
”I-I understand! I will thoroughly burn Master’s battle into my very eyes!” I replied.
”No, you really don’t have to put that much intense spirit into it,” Daisuke said.
”No, because I remember every single one of Master’s battles, this is just as I always do,” I replied.
”Eh, ah, I see. Well, alright. If it serves as a reference for you, then I don’t mind… I guess?” Daisuke said.
Did I mistake the answer somewhere?
Master wore a completely bewildered face, but since it was time, he headed toward the training ground that served as the dueling arena.
”Liese-san, will Master be able to win?” Camilla asked.
”…It might be difficult. The opponent is equivalent to an A-Rank, while Master is a B-Rank,” I replied.
”But I can’t think that Daisuke will lose… we can’t even imagine it, right?” Nicola said.
”That’s definitely true,” Ilse added.
”Well then, let’s all cheer him on♪” Grete said.
While we were chatting, the formal Oath of the duel seemed to have been finalized.
I could not foresee the ultimate victory or loss, but I prayed deeply for Master’s safety.
* * *
”It’s been a long time since my last duel! You’re looking forward to this too, aren’t ya, Daisuke?!” Thomas-dono shouted.
”No, I don’t particularly want to fight, but… well, since it’s a rare occasion, I’ll gladly take you up on that offer to test my skills,” Daisuke replied.
”If it’s a woman, I’ll let ’em test my chest as much as they want!” Thomas-dono roared.
”That’s certainly true,” Daisuke said.
”Uhhohho! As I thought, you get it!” Thomas-dono laughed.
Before the start of the duel, Master and Thomas-dono were chatting harmoniously.
It seemed Thomas-dono also possessed multiple partners, so they appeared to share a few distinct similarities.
Since raw energy is the ultimate manifestation of vitality, it is undoubtedly one of Master’s wonderful traits.
”Let’s end the chatter here! I’m going all out from the start! Let’s go!” Thomas-dono shouted.
With Thomas-dono’s thunderous shout, the two clashed.
Master met the charging Thomas-dono head-on, and a relentless, staccato screech of clashing steel resounded violently through the venue as sharp thrusts and sweeping strikes exchanged in a furious onslaught.
It happened so quickly that I could not even tell how many times they traded blows within the single blink of an eye; there was truly no time to catch one’s breath.
Even in the absolute midst of that exchange, they were constantly weaving feints against one another, making every single movement an extraordinary teaching material.
The primary reason Master fought was for the sake of Dietlinde-sama, but since he was deliberately wielding a spear for my benefit, I stared fixatedly at the battle so as not to miss a single micro-second.
All so that I could definitely catch up to, and eventually surpass, this level of combat someday.
According to Grete, Thomas-dono was Level 54, fully equivalent to an A-Rank.
The maximum Ability scores expected from his Class and beast race were just under 3,300 for both HP and STR.
His lowest values were around 1,100 for INT and MND, while his AGI and DEX sat slightly above 2,000.
His strengths and weaknesses were distinct, making him a textbook vanguard type.
But it was said that by wielding the Wind Spear Rindvurm¹, magic-assisted attacks were also well within his capabilities.
He was uniquely weak against magical counters, but in close-range, one-on-one combat, it would likely never surface as a vulnerability.
On the other hand, Master’s exact Level was not clearly known, but if it was the same as everyone in the Yamato Nadeshiko Party, it was somewhere in the late forty range.
I had heard that his base Ability scores were perfectly uniform across the board, which would place them around 1,700.
I knew that he commanded a vast array of weapons and magic, but his exact Skill levels remained completely unverified.
However, it appeared that at least his Swordsmanship, Spearmanship, and a few elemental magics had reached Skill Level 7.
In particular, his Healing Magic was an astonishing Skill Level 8.
If the match devolved into a pure war of magic, Master would have a clear path to victory, but in a straight melee engagement, he was simply not an opponent with whom a fair fight should be structurally possible.
That absolutely should have been the case, yet in reality, he did not look to be pushed back or overwhelmed in the slightest.
What on earth was the meaning of this?
”Phew, you do quite well, don’t you!” Thomas-dono grunted.
”No, no, I’m barely hanging on by a thread. Please go a little easier on me,” Daisuke said.
”If I lose, my wives will thoroughly thrash me, so I can’t do that!” Thomas-dono laughed.
The two, having broken away to open up some distance, spoke briefly, but it was barely long enough to count as a breath of rest.
This time, Master initiated the charge, and they began to clash violently once more.
At the very least, he was not losing an inch in terms of speed and technique.
He seemed to be slightly outmatched in raw physical power, but he was not being utterly dominated as the massive gap in base Ability scores would have predicted.
Could it be that his Self-Buff type Skills were also remarkably high Level?
Since Thomas-dono was unusually utilizing his own buffs, for Master to close the gap against an opponent with scores more than double his own meant his Skills were truly spectacular.
Though the two had initially stood their ground to trade blows, they gradually began to utilize the expansive training ground to its absolute limits.
The other Adventurers who had been training in the vicinity had already evacuated to a safe distance.
If it was Master, he would never cause injury intentionally, but Thomas-dono’s wildly swinging style looked a bit dangerous.
”Nuuu-! I cannot break through his guard! Since it has come to this!” Thomas-dono roared.
Impatiened by his inability to overwhelm Master’s defenses, the Magic Spear Rindvurm held by Thomas-dono flashed with a sudden light, and his execution speed surged even higher.
He was assisting his physical movement with Wind Magic.
Because I have finally reached Level 21 myself, I could barely recognize the magical distortion from a distance.
But at this rate, Master will…
”Uwa! Oh, dangerous! Are you genuinely trying to kill me?!” Daisuke shouted.
”If I don’t fight with the literal intent to kill, there’s no way I can win against you, right?!” Thomas-dono bellowed.
”Well, if that’s the case, I can use that exact trick too—hop!” Daisuke yelled.
Just when I thought he was cornered for certain, Master accelerated instantly using his own Wind Magic.
It had already escalated to a level where merely following their movements with my eyes from a distance took everything I had.
The two moved boundlessly across the lengths and depths of the training ground.
Just when it looked like they crashed together, they separated, and the moment they separated, they crossed trajectories again.
Each time they met, a violent, cracking impact and a sharp flash of light occurred, but listening closely, they were clashing at least three times in every single pass.
Regrettably, the fine details of their spear work were completely invisible to my sight.
The spears held by the two sparkled brilliantly with the condensed magical power poured into them, tracing glowing arcs of high-speed movement through the air.
It was a scene of strange, ethereal beauty.
Refined structural force filled the entire arena.
However, what truly existed in that space was nothing less than overwhelming, raw violence.
If anyone else were to be caught up in that vortex, they would be turned into minced meat in an instant.
”Beautiful…” I whispered.
(Before I realized it, the word escaped my lips entirely unconsciously. In addition, my body had become entirely flushed and hot. Was this intense sensation due to being thoroughly excited by the spectacle of battle? Or had I simply come down with an upset stomach? There was absolutely no room to deeply investigate the cause of the sudden abnormality occurring within my own body; right now, I could do nothing but stare transfixed.)
”As expected of Daisuke-san♪” Grete said.
”Master, you are incredible!” Nicola shouted.
”A serious Daisuke is amazing after all…” Camilla muttered.
”Fueee… it’s way too fast for my eyes to even keep up…” Ilse whimpered.
My fellow party Unit Members also raised voices of pure admiration.
The gathered gallery of spectators was in absolute high spirits.
It was not intended to be a sideshow, but given the public nature of the training ground, it could not be helped.
”Uhoho! This is incredibly fun!” Thomas-dono shouted.
”Haa… it is quite, exhausting, isn’t it…” Daisuke panted.
The two spoke while separating slightly once again.
Although shallow cuts were appearing on both of them little by little, neither had sustained any devastating damage.
Even so, Master seemed to be gradually pushed on the defensive, and his breathing was turning noticeably rough.
He looked capable of enduring more, but at this rate…
”Uho! It’s about time to bring this to an end! Take this—full throttle Wind Magic!” Thomas-dono roared.
”Guh… this is…!” Daisuke groaned.
”Eat this! ‘Tornado’²‘!” Thomas-dono bellowed.
”Master!” I screamed.
A violent gale suddenly blew wildly with Thomas-dono at the epicenter, throwing up a dense wall of blinding dust that completely obscured our field of vision.
The Magic Stone embedded within Rindvurm flashed with blinding intensity, signaling the activation of an incredibly high-tier spell.
Judging from the position visible at the final micro-second, the massive concentration of Wind Magic was unleashed directly toward Master.
If anyone took a spell like that head-on, their physical form would be torn to absolute shreds.
He must have deployed some form of defense, but please let him be safe…!
When the thick cloud of dust finally cleared, Thomas-dono stood tall like a guardian statue, while Master was fallen upon the ground.
”I can no longer fight. I surrender,” Daisuke said.
”Daisuke’s surrender confirmed. The winner is Thomas,” Rutger-dono announced.
”Uhoho! Yesss! I won!” Thomas-dono cheered.
”It was a thoroughly commendable display,” Rutger-dono said.
”…Nice fight,” Ursula-dono added.
Thomas-dono manifested his immense joy by vigorously thumping his chest.
The two A-Rank observers also appeared completely satisfied with the outcome.
But far more importantly, was Master unharmed?
We rushed over instantly with everyone from the First Blood party.
”Master, are you alright?!” I cried.
”Master!” Nicola called out.
”Daisuke!” Camilla yelled.
”Awawawa… Daisuke-san…!” Ilse panicked.
”Whoa, easy there! I’m completely fine, I haven’t sustained any major injuries,” Daisuke said.
”Fufu, just as I thought♪ It’s a shame you lost, but I’m just so glad you’re safe♪” Grete said.
”Thank you, Grete. And thank you to everyone else too,” Daisuke replied.
(I had ended up clinging to him with the exact same momentum as Camilla, but observing that his wounds were entirely superficial brought a wave of profound relief over my heart.)
”Daisukeee, well then, it’s safe to assume that the legal complaint is officially withdrawn?” Thomas-dono asked.
”Yes, it is the agreed Reward of the duel. Regarding the fraud committed against me, I will completely withdraw the lawsuit against Henriette-san,” Daisuke answered.
”Uho? Fraud? What on earth is that about?” Thomas-dono muttered.
”Please ask her for the fine details,” Daisuke said.
”Well, I guess I’ll do just that,” Thomas-dono replied.
Thomas-dono, who clearly did not care for intricate complexities, scratched his head vigorously while laughing with boisterous generosity.
I felt a twinge of regret that Master had lost the match, but right now, I simply wanted to rejoice in the fact that he was safe.
”Master, are you truly okay? I was completely Minded³!” Camilla cried.
”Sorry, sorry, I’m perfectly fine so please calm down. There, there, good girl, good girl!” Daisuke said.
”Kyaaa~♡” Camilla squealed.
”Wa-wa, pet me too!” Nicola begged.
”Then I would like some appreciation too, please♪” Grete giggled.
”Me too! Wait, t-the tail is an absolute foul!” Ilse barked.
Though he had been fighting with an intensely dignified expression until a short while ago, the Master who was now gently petting Camilla and the others possessed his usual routine gentle atmosphere.
”Master, thank you very much for everything,” I said.
”Did it end up serving as a helpful reference for you?” Daisuke asked.
”Yes, immensely,” I replied.
”Then it was entirely worth it,” Daisuke said.
The strong, infinitely kind Master is my ultimate goal and my perfect ideal.
To Master, who deliberately showcased such a violent yet beautifully transcendent battle solely for my sake, I offer my absolute, utmost gratitude…

’Meta Tsedes:’ “This time’s segment was entirely from Liese’s perspective. After all, when you think of Thomas, you think of the spear, and when you think of the spear, you immediately think of Liese.”
’Narrator:’ “Is this a game of word association? When I think of Liese, the first thing that comes to mind is meat.”
’Meta Tsedes:’ “That’s completely wrong!”
’Narrator:’ “Then here I go! Round two! Speaking of meat, it naturally leads to monsters!”
’Meta Tsedes:’ “Speaking of monsters, it means hunting! (You are being unusually high-spirited today, aren’t you?)”
’Narrator:’ “Speaking of hunting, it instantly means Skills!”
’Meta Tsedes:’ “Speaking of Skills, it means refined technique!”
’Narrator:’ “Speaking of technique, it all leads straight back to Daisuke-sama! Ahh, absolutely everything in this world converges upon Daisuke-sama, doesn’t it! As expected of Daisuke-sama!”
’Meta Tsedes:’ “Wait, shouldn’t the punchline have been I○I right there?!”

Glossary:
Notes:
• Henriette – A petite, high-spirited dog-like beastman guild clerk (~160 cm) with drooping eyes, floppy ears, and bouncing chestnut curls in a frilly blouse and vest. Deeply money-loving and manipulative, she used a flirtatious facade to offload tasks onto her boss, Randolph, who favored her until cutting her loose. Now facing criminal enslavement for document forgery, client fraud, assault, and defamation, her loyalty wavered under pressure. She rejects Thomas’s advances and likes Daisuke.
• Daisuke – Daisuke, a lean, cynical late-twenties Japanese reincarnate and Level 85 B-Rank adventurer, has tousled dark hair, amber eyes, and practical leather armor. Seeking to avoid standing out despite having 3,500 base ability scores, he uses Wind Magic, an Item Box, a spear, and modern forensic skills to hunt monsters and expose Guild corruption. Pragmatic yet affectionate, the former NEET manages a harem including Gerta, Elisa, Regina, Cassandra, and Dietlinde through expert cooking and care.
• Thomas – A mid‑30s, 2m tall gorilla‑type beastman with thick fur, a tail, and sharp canines. Officially a B-rank adventurer with A-rank power, he wields the Wind Spear Rindvurm. Though crude and lecherous—often skipping duties to flirt with guild staff—he forms a party with his four wives. When fighting to save a woman he loves, he turns fiercely protective and chivalrous, even resorting to dogeza.
• Liese – Liese, a 170cm grey-scaled dragonewt with silver-blue braided hair, thick horns, and violet eyes, is the Level 21 spear-fighter leading the ‘Lovers’ party. Daughter of red/blue dragonewts and former orphan under Dietlinde, she wears an arcane-stitched cloak and rune circlet. Bonded to Daisuke, she focuses intensely on his fast battles. Ursula encourages her over shared racial hardships. Disciplined yet proud, her daily routine is spear maintenance, though tail thumps and monster meat cravings betray her calm.
• Camilla – A statuesque, obsidian-skinned fox beastwoman with silver-streaked braids and a fast-wagging tail, she wears a high-slit black dress and gem choker. An aloof, energetic illusionist, fire mage, and debuffer in the First Blood and Lovers parties, this “Black Gyaru Trio” member fears wolves but craves promotion. She is doted on by allies and serves as Daisuke’s affectionate, marking-obsessed slave.
• Ilse – Ilse, a 17-year-old tiger-kin archer with a petite, boyish frame and gold-and-black hair, is a level-18 Beunemünde Guild member in Daisuke’s party. Acting as the witty straight-man, she even struggles to track high-speed spear fights.
• Nicola – A petite 160 cm First Blood human scout with plain features and blue-green side-tail hair. Conscientious yet shy and stuttering, she excels at reconnaissance, admires senior Vanessa, and is cautious of others. She is deeply attached to Daisuke, sharing his home and demanding his lap. Secretly perverted, she seeks sexual rewards with Ilse and masturbates daily on days she isn’t intimate with him.
• Grete – Grete is a freckled, auburn-haired junior clerk and D-rank spear tank with a playful, diabolical smile. As the bright, affectionate PR specialist for the ‘Lovers’ party, she wins everyone over and lives in Daisuke’s household as an aspiring lover. • Ursula – An A-Rank adventurer known as the ‘Great Shield’ and a quiet, reserved Shield Saint of the Five Saints party. She is a dragonewt with brown scales and incredibly high defensive growth rates. Speaking very little, she accompanies Rutger to monitor matches, occasionally offering short, deadpan critiques.
• Dietlinde – A tall, broad-shouldered sheep-beastwoman with elegantly curved horns, straight platinum hair in a severe bun, pale gray eyes, and faint woolly patches at her collar. Stoic yet professional despite ailments, this Royal Capital guild receptionist cleared her name of a past forgery frame-up and forgave Henriette’s assault. She uses Water Magic and secretly loves Daisuke for his fatigue magic.
