Volume 10 Chapter 7 Manliness
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Henriette, I wooon!” Thomas shouted.
”Thomas-san, thank you so much! I knew that in the end, it’s always the strong men you can count on! ♡” Henriette cooed.
”I am pretty great, aren’t I! Uh-ho-ho!” Thomas roared.
Because Thomas won, my lawsuit will be withdrawn.
Henriette will no longer be dropped into slavery for fraud, and the money swindled from me won’t be returned either.
That said, she can’t exactly stay at her workplace, so it looks like she will resign and become Thomas’s wife.
It’s a bit of a shame, but no one can complain about the results of a duel. That goes for Roswitha-san and her group too.
”It was a splendid battle. I am looking forward to your future,” Rutger said.
”Thank you very much,” I replied.
For some reason, Rutger, who came over, praises me, but interacting with him more than necessary is a hassle, so I just casually brush him off.
He is incredibly handsome, but he’s a guy…
”…Do your best,” Ursula muttered.
”Huh? Y-Yes. Thank you very much,” Liese replied.
Ursula calls out to Liese.
Grey Dragonewts go through a lot of hardships, so it seems she was encouraging her.
”Daisuke-san, what a shame~ ♪” Henriette taunted.
”It’s the result of doing everything I could, so I have no regrets,” I said.
”Oh my, putting on a tough front. You don’t have to force yourself, you know? ♪” Henriette giggled.
A high-spirited Henriette needlessly taunts me.
She really hasn’t reflected on her actions at all, has she.
In reality, I’m only slightly disappointed, not to the point of feeling frustrated.
The money is an amount I can earn in half a day, and I wouldn’t normally use the Wind Spear Rindvurm anyway, so it would just be wasted on me.
”Ah, Randolph-san, please don’t ever come near me again ♪” Henriette chirped.
”…Tch. This fucking bitch,” Randolph spat.
”Did you say something? Randolph-san, whose only big traits are your voice and attitude?” Henriette mocked.
”…It’s nothing,” Randolph muttered.
Randolph is also getting immensely flexed on, but he doesn’t talk back.
He was spectacularly exposed earlier, so she must hold other weaknesses over him.
The guy is short, but judging by her wording, he might have a micropenis, be completely uncircumcised, and a premature ejaculator to boot?
I have zero interest in his lower-body situation, so please just go ahead and destroy each other.
”Alright, let’s go grab food now!” Thomas bellowed.
”Yeees ♡” Henriette answered.
”Wait,” Roswitha-san commanded.
Just as Thomas and Henriette try to leave in high spirits as if the matter is entirely settled, Roswitha-san calls out to stop them.
”The conversation isn’t over yet,” Roswitha-san said.
”Ah, my apologies. You needed to hand over the duties, right?” Henriette asked.
”That is not what this is about. As the Guild Master, I have not yet announced your punishment,” Roswitha-san stated.
”Uho? Since I won, Henriette gets off scot-free, right?” Thomas grunted.
”That’s right. Daisuke-san’s lawsuit has been withdrawn, so there is no reason for me to be punished, is there?” Henriette argued.
”While Daisuke’s lawsuit was withdrawn, the crimes you committed are not limited to just that, are they?” Roswitha-san countered.
”Huh? …Ah,” Henriette gasped.
Henriette seemed to have forgotten in her excitement, but fraud is merely one among many charges.
”Document forgery, fraud against clients. There are at least this many crimes related to the Guild alone. Since multiple clients have already filed complaints and demands for refunds, the situation forces me, as the Guild Master, to deal with this strictly.”
”N-No way! Thomas-san won, so I was supposed to be free!” Henriette wailed.
”Furthermore, assault against Dietlinde, injury, defamation, and fraudulent obstruction of business¹. I wonder if fraudulent obstruction of business applies to the Guild as well. What do you think, Haida-dono?”
”Yes, it would likely apply. For now, let us briefly verify the matters other than the fraud against Daisuke. Did you commit the charges just listed intentionally?”
”…No,” Henriette whispered.
”That is a lie. Just like the fraud against Daisuke, I certify that you executed them intentionally.”
Indeed, the fraud against me was merely one out of many, so withdrawing the lawsuit had no significant impact.
”Karl-dono, please restrain her and take her away,” Haida-dono ordered.
”Yes,” Karl replied.
”Hold on a damn minute! I won just now, so Henriette is supposed to be free, right?!” Thomas roared.
”As the Guild Master, I deal harshly with misconduct. In particular, by severely damaging the Guild’s credibility, there is actual damage in that requests are decreasing.”
”W-What did you say?!” Thomas gapped.
Thomas is shocked by the shocking truth (?).
Having dueled even at the stake of his partner (Rindvurm) and thinking he somehow saved Henriette after a fierce battle, I feel bad for him, but the duel was a farce from the start.
My level is 85, and my ability scores are around 3,500. He isn’t an opponent I would lose to if I played normally. To put it bluntly, I lost on purpose.
Even if I lose, there is no actual damage to me, and rather, winning was guaranteed to make things more troublesome.
Beating someone equivalent to an A-rank would make me stand out, and owning the Rindvurm would make me stand out as well.
Furthermore, it could cause bad blood with Thomas’s Wives.
On top of that, since Rutger and Ursula were watching the match, I couldn’t carelessly show my full strength. Thanks to the worth of “doing (acting) my best,” I managed to deceive their eyes too.
”If it’s come to this, then one more duel…!” Thomas yelled.
”Idiot! There’s no way we can pick a fight with the Guild!” Adele barked.
”If we get expelled, we won’t be able to make a living!” Erna snapped.
”It’s hard to find other work at this point, after all…” Ina sighed.
”It looks like a little punishment is necessary,” Yulia smiled.
”Ouch! Hold on a minute!” Thomas cried.
The wives, who forgave the duel with me, apparently won’t allow picking a fight with the Guild. That makes sense; the opponent is just too bad.
”Guild Master, can’t you do something about this?” Thomas pleaded.
”The incident Henriette caused has many victims, and we must report the outcome of the incident externally. Also, she has caused losses to the Guild that cannot be ignored. The accusation cannot be withdrawn.”
”Please do something about it! I’m begging you!” Thomas implored.
”I cannot,” Roswitha-san stated.
”I’m begging you! I can’t just abandon the woman I fell for!” Thomas begged.
”Thomas-san…” Henriette muttered.
Thomas does a dogeza to Roswitha-san and pleads.
Surprisingly, Henriette reacts to that.
Until now, she seemed to be flirting with Thomas’s title and specs, but being touched by his chivalry might have shaken her heart.
No~, is she really that kind of woman, though…
”Thomas-san, this is impossible,” Adele said.
”If it means abandoning her, I’ll take her and run!” Thomas declared.
”Don’t talk stupid! If we end up living as fugitives, what happens to us?!” Adele yelled.
”We’ll manage somehow!” Thomas argued.
”You’re saying that based on a ‘maybe,’ aren’t you! As if we can take such a dangerous gamble!” Adele scolded.
”That might be true, but I can’t back down here! You guys brace yourselves too!” Thomas shouted.
”Are you serious… We’ll be wanted criminals,” Erna grumbled.
”Once Thomas gets like this, he won’t listen, so it’s troublesome, isn’t it,” Ina noted.
It is a grand declaration of a crime right in front of the Guild Master, the Inquisitor, and the guard.
It seems he has the power to act, and his wives are moving into resignation mode.
I thought he was just being completely infatuated, but he is quite serious. I want to express my respect for that resolve and chivalry.
However, no matter if he is B-rank, I don’t think he can outrun them, and if it comes to that, I will catch him. If Henriette had truly reflected, I might have let it slide.
”It would be troublesome to have a criminal slave² taken away,” Haida-dono observed.
”As expected, such injustice cannot be overlooked. Thomas, or whatever your name is, if you intend to take that criminal and run, I shall be your opponent.”
”…” Thomas silenced.
”Kh! But I can’t back down! No matter what, I will save Henriette!” Thomas steeling himself.
Having listened to the conversation as it unfolded, Rutger and Ursula look ready to pivot to capturing him.
They are placing their hands on their swords to intimidate Thomas.
Thomas is right after a duel, and even if he weren’t, the odds are against him facing a Sword Saint and a Shield Saint.
Even so, he places his hand on his spear, and the atmosphere becomes touch-and-go.
I hate to ruin a serious mood, but we are inside the Guild right now, you know. Do you plan to go wild in a place like this?
”…It can’t be helped. Thomas, if you have the resolve, there is a compromise,” Roswitha-san offered.
”If it’s to save Henriette, I have the resolve!” Thomas answered.
Perhaps because having a brawl break out inside the Guild would be troublesome, Roswitha-san decides to offer a compromise.
”First, Henriette’s prosecution and criminal enslavement are unavoidable. Understand that.”
”……How is that any different from what we’ve been talking about?” Thomas muttered.
”After a period of slave education³, I will recommend a ‘reservation right’ for Thomas to buy the enslaved Henriette.”
”So entering slavery is unavoidable, but it means she can live under me, huh,” Thomas realized.
The reservation right is a system that isn’t used very often.
It is granted if a victim recommends it for a criminal slave like this case.
Since criminal slaves are generally sent to the mines, it can practically be called a relief measure.
”However, there are several conditions for that. First, you must pay not only the price as a slave but also compensation and alimony.”
”Haa… More money again…” Adele sighed.
”I-I’m sorry…” Thomas apologized.
”Since Thomas decided to do it, it’s fine. But we’ll need Thomas to earn properly from now on.”
One way or another, the wives seem to be in love with Thomas, so while they grumble, they don’t oppose it. It’s because the money alone is within a range they can manage.
”Next, watch over her firmly so she never commits a criminal act again,” Roswitha-san added.
”I will watch Henriette! I won’t let her do bad things ever again!” Thomas vowed.
”No, you are too soft, so we’re going to whip her into shape ourselves,” Adele smirked.
”Adele?!” Thomas gasped.
”Yeah, strictly,” Erna agreed.
”I will watch her harshly as well,” Ina chimed in.
”That’s right, we won’t give her the leisure to even think about doing such a thing,” Yulia smiled.
”Hieee…” Henriette whimpered.
”Erna, Ina, and even Yulia…” Thomas groaned.
Thomas’s Wives seem to have various thoughts regarding Henriette, and their pressure is incredible. Even that Henriette is completely spooked. I’m incredibly scared too.
By the way, the big-hearted, motherly one is Adele-san, the one with dignified speech is Erna-san, the quiet one is Ina-san, and the polite but terrifying one is Yulia-san.
”Lastly, if she commits a criminal act, Thomas must dispose of her himself,” Roswitha-san stated.
”You mean kill her?!” Thomas shouted.
”As the master of a criminal slave, that is common practice. If it’s impossible, this talk will simply have never happened.”
”T-That is…” Thomas hesitated.
”You, you decided on the resolve to accept that Henriette woman, didn’t you! Getting cold feet over just that much, what are you doing!”
”I-I got it…” Thomas relented.
The words “brace yourselves!” he said earlier turned into a boomerang, and he is backed into a corner by Adele-san. It must be unpleasant for him, but it’s a condition he has no choice but to swallow.
”If Thomas takes an ‘Oath’ on these, we will settle with the compromise presented earlier. What will you do?”
”Alright, if it’s come to this, I’ll do it! I’ll Oath!” Thomas roared.
Without hesitation, Thomas takes the Oath, and it is decided that Henriette will be taken in by Thomas.
”Leaving the slave details for later, since I must interrogate her, I will take custody of her body for the time being,” Haida-dono announced.
”Of course, Haida-dono. Henriette, this is my final instruction as Guild Master. Face the investigation with a sincere attitude. Understood?”
”…Yes. I caused you trouble,” Henriette whispered.
Because a situation considerably better than an ordinary criminal slave was promised at the cost of various things from Thomas, Henriette quietly bows her head.
”Daisuke-san, Dietlinde-senpai, I am sorry too,” Henriette apologized.
”I have waived my right to claim, though,” I said.
”…I accept the apology,” Dietlinde-senpai replied.
”…Thank you very much. I am truly sorry,” Henriette sobbed.
It seems she has genuinely reflected. Things would have been simple if she had just bowed her head properly from the start, though.
Solely Dietlinde-san would be in a position to oppose this disposition, but it seems she won’t overturn it at this stage.
Since Rutger and Ursula are not parties involved, they don’t interject.
Knowing Henriette, there is a possibility she is just temporarily staying quiet, but that is the responsibility of Thomas, who chose to take her in.
I didn’t expect it to settle in this kind of form, but I underestimated Thomas’s affection for Henriette. He was a guy with a strong impression of being pathetic, but I want to learn from that chivalry.

Meta Tsedes: “It’s not Mercedes-chan’s preference, but Thomas-san is also quite cool, isn’t he?”
Narrator: “Compared to a small fry like that, it’s Daisuke-sama. Even now he is dignified and brimming with chivalry, yet he aims for even higher than this… ♡ As expected of Daisuke-sama. ♡”
Meta Tsedes: “Ah, yes.”
Narrator: “Oh, any dissatisfaction?”
Meta Tsedes: “No, nothing at all! By the way, the punishment for the other person hasn’t been decided yet; I wonder what will happen to them.”
Narrator: “It seems this chapter became longer than expected, so that will be next chapter.”
Meta Tsedes: “I figured as much.”
Narrator: “Look forward to it, apparently.”

Glossary:
Notes:
• Henriette – A petite, high-spirited dog-like beastman guild clerk (~160 cm) with drooping eyes, floppy ears, and bouncing chestnut curls in a frilly blouse and vest. Deeply money-loving and manipulative, she used a flirtatious facade to offload tasks onto her boss, Randolph, who favored her until cutting her loose. Now facing criminal enslavement for document forgery, client fraud, assault, and defamation, her loyalty wavered under pressure. She rejects Thomas’s advances and likes Daisuke.
• Thomas – A mid‑30s, 2m tall gorilla‑type beastman with thick fur, a tail, and sharp canines. Officially a B-rank adventurer with A-rank power, he wields the Wind Spear Rindvurm. Though crude and lecherous—often skipping duties to flirt with guild staff—he forms a party with his four wives. When fighting to save a woman he loves, he turns fiercely protective and chivalrous, even resorting to dogeza.
• Roswitha – A stately, sharp-eyed woman in her sixties with iron-gray hair in a crown bun, the Guild Master (Royal Capital Branch Manager) commands absolute authority. Wearing high-collared, silver-embroidered crimson robes, her terrifying, strict presence silences arguments. She enforces rigid regulations against misconduct to preserve guild credibility, compromising only to avoid brawls and brooking no nonsense.
• Rutger – A high-profile demonkin and A-Rank adventurer known as the “Flame Sword,” he is a Sword Saint of the Five Saints party. • Ursula – An A-Rank adventurer known as the ‘Great Shield’ and a quiet, reserved Shield Saint of the Five Saints party. She is a dragonewt with brown scales and incredibly high defensive growth rates. Speaking very little, she accompanies Rutger to monitor matches, occasionally offering short, deadpan critiques.
• Liese – Liese, a 170cm grey-scaled dragonewt with silver-blue braided hair, thick horns, and violet eyes, is the Level 21 spear-fighter leading the ‘Lovers’ party. • Daisuke – Daisuke, a lean, cynical late-twenties Japanese reincarnate and Level 85 B-Rank adventurer, has tousled dark hair, amber eyes, and practical leather armor. Seeking to avoid standing out despite having 3,500 base ability scores, he uses Wind Magic, an Item Box, a spear, and modern forensic skills to hunt monsters and expose Guild corruption. Pragmatic yet affectionate, the former NEET manages a harem including Gerta, Elisa, Regina, Cassandra, and Dietlinde through expert cooking and care.
• Rin – A tall, long-haired B-rank adventurer and brilliant ice-magic healer, she hides a passionate heart behind a stoic, blunt façade. She uses Water Magic and secretly loves Daisuke for his fatigue magic.
