Volume 11 Chapter 1 Yin and Yang
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Since Diet didn’t stay the night and went home instead, I decided to spend the night with another lover.
Specifically, Juliet.
Because Juliet was the one whose mind¹ was in the biggest knot over everything, the other lovers graciously yielded their turn to her.
”Is your mind completely at ease now?” Juliet asked.
”Well… yeah, I suppose so,” I replied.
We continued our deep, intimate coupling until Juliet, who is an absolute kiss-fiend and a spoiled brat, was fully satisfied.
It was already quite late at night by the time she finally let me off.
Both her cat ears and her tail were twitching and swaying contentedly, looking completely appeased.
”Daisuke, you look pretty relaxed for someone who lost. You fought while placing some weird restriction on yourself again, didn’t you?” Juliet said.
”Haha, no way, that’s not true… right?” I replied.
”That is such a lie,” Juliet said.
Guh, Juliet is sharp!
If I falter even a single bit, my lies get exposed immediately.
If I were to seriously put on an act², I could probably keep her from finding out, but that’s not something I want to do with her.
I gave Juliet a light kiss to distract her from her suspicious, deadpan stare.
”Mnn…♡ You’re trying to trick me with this kind of thing again…” Juliet mumbled.
”Do you hate kissing me?” I asked.
”…I’m not going to forgive you for something this half-hearted. You better do it properly,” Juliet replied.
”Roger that,” I said.
Since it seemed she would forgive me if it was a deep kiss, I pulled the close-eyed Juliet against me and overlapped our lips.
I immediately slipped my tongue into her willingly opened mouth, tangling it together with Juliet’s distinctly rough tongue.
Because her embrace was so powerful, I could fully enjoy the rich elasticity and softness of her breasts pressing tightly against me.
My counterpart, which had quieted down earlier, became completely energetic again.
I pressed and rubbed it firmly against her stomach, where her abs were faintly visible, to make my desires known.
”You’ve already let out so much, and yet you still want to do it,” Juliet whispered.
”I do. If it’s with you, Juliet, I could keep going until morning,” I said.
”…No. We have to sleep properly, otherwise everyone will tease me… or rather, we’ll cause trouble for everyone else. So, just one last time, okay?” Juliet said.
”Understood,” I replied.
For our final round, we intertwined thoroughly at a slow, deliberate pace.
Juliet, who genuinely prefers being pampered and loved over raw physical pleasure, seemed to love this approach much better, looking completely satisfied by the end.

The day after I became lovers with Diet, I handled a chore that I hadn’t dealt with in a month.
Yes, it was a lunch meeting with the incredibly troublesome girl, Yuko.
It seemed she was gradually getting busier at her job, and she looked thoroughly displeased about it.
Because she hasn’t leveled up³ at all, her ability scores⁴ remain incredibly low, which might be why she’s finding the workload so overwhelming.
However, as long as she pays a proper fee, she can easily post an escort quest for adventurers.
Furthermore, if she actually bothered to get along with the people at her workplace, they would probably help her out for free or at a very cheap rate.
The reason she can’t do the former is because of her wasteful spending habits, which prevent her from saving any money.
The reason she can’t do the latter is because her relationships are a disaster due to her massive pride.
In short, she completely brought this upon herself.
There’s absolutely no obligation for me to step in and help her out.
I’ve already given her potions that work wonders on conditions like depression, so I’m already providing more than enough assistance.
Those are high-grade items that would cost a fortune in gold coins if she had to buy them normally.
However, I really have to wonder how long she thinks this relationship—which offers absolutely zero benefit to me—is going to last.
It’s entirely transparent that she doesn’t think she’s leeching off me in the slightest, but looking at it objectively, it’s just bad.
Not to mention Meta, even my other lovers have been giving me looks that suggest it’s completely fine to cut her off.
For the record, Meta is furious that Yuko is causing trouble for me, and Camilla is visibly annoyed because it reduces the amount of time I get to spend with her.
Yuko does almost nothing but complain, but these meetings do allow me to learn about the inner workings and general procedures of government agencies in another world.
That is the sole piece of useful information obtained from these meals.
However, listening to her whine about the specific problems of individual projects is completely meaningless to me.
No impressions cross my mind other than a detached, “Huh, is that so.”
I can always ask Vera-san if I want to hear about the larger structural framework of the government, and honestly, the stories about the Knights’ Order I hear from Mercedes are vastly more useful.
If she could offer an informed opinion on the government or general policies from a bird’s-eye perspective, it would be great for cross-checking the background of Vera-san’s stories… but expecting that from Yuko is entirely futile.
Setting aside her actual competence, she has zero motivation, so she’s only capable of caring about whatever is right in front of her face.
Therefore, I was careful to guide the conversation away from any weird topics like her trying to rely on me financially, and I managed to survive the encounter yet again.
I want to end this setup as soon as possible, but if I cut her off without a definitive, undeniable reason, people might start spreading weird rumors about me.
The moment she screws up significantly, I can say goodbye to her without any reservations, so I suppose I just have to endure it for a little while longer.

Regarding my relationship with Grete, which I had been putting off while keeping things deliberately ambiguous, I knew I had to face it properly.
She herself didn’t seem to outwardly care all that much, but Diet, who confessed to me later than she did, wound up becoming my lover first.
Whatever my final conclusion turned out to be, letting things drag on any longer was unacceptable.
Because of that, I decided to ask her out so we could have some time just the two of us.
Given our current schedules, we couldn’t manage a proper day off, so it wound up being a dinner date right after a dungeon exploration.
Since it was a special occasion, I suggested that we meet up directly outside.
”Sorry to keep you waiting! ♪” Grete cheered.
”No, not at all, I just got here myself. Your clothes suit you incredibly well today. You look exceptionally cute,” I said.
”Hehe, thank you! ♪” Grete replied.
As I stood waiting at the entrance of the bustling shopping street, Grete arrived just a few minutes later.
Today, Grete was dressed in a chic black one-piece dress adorned with elegant ruffles along the hem.
Since it’s currently mid-October, the color palette perfectly matched the autumn season, making it an absolutely ideal outfit for a date.
The bare skin of her legs peeking out from beneath the miniskirt was absolutely dazzling.
While she’s usually clad in light armor during our excursions, Grete is still only in her late teens, making her the direct equivalent of a high school senior.
”Wow. Truly wonderful,” I murmured.
”Oh honestly, Daisuke-san, your gaze is completely lewd!” Grete teased.
”Ah, sorry about that,” I said.
”Well, it just means you’re looking at me properly, so I don’t mind if you look a little more! ♪” Grete said.
”Oh…” I gasped.
With a playful glance, Grete lightly flipped the hem of her skirt, deliberately showing off her bare legs.
Guh! As expected of Grete, I am entirely powerless against this kind of attack…!
Now that explicit permission had been granted, my eyes were drawn in completely against my will.
”I’m really happy you’re looking at me so passionately… but if you can’t contain yourself, should we just head straight to a short-stay inn?” Grete asked.
”N-No, I’m perfectly fine. It’s still way too early for that, so let’s just enjoy our date first,” I stammered.
”Fufu, you’re right! ♪” Grete giggled.
As expected, dragging her into a short-stay inn the absolute moment we met up would ruin the romantic mood entirely.
I had already reserved a nice place for dinner, so I needed to make sure we had a proper date first.
* * *
”First of all, I want to deeply apologize for making you wait so long for an answer,” I said.
”Ahaha, I didn’t feel like I was waiting all that long, though being completely overtaken by Dietlinde-san was a bit of a surprise, I guess,” Grete replied.
”I am truly sorry,” I said.
It had been a little less than three weeks since Grete first confessed her feelings to me.
Part of the delay was admittedly due to the chaos surrounding the First Blood party’s promotion exam⁵, but there was no denying that I had left her hanging.
She couldn’t quite bring herself to say that it hadn’t bothered her at all.
”So, from your perspective, Daisuke-san… am I just no good?” Grete asked.
”No, that’s absolutely not the case. Grete, you’re an incredibly good girl, you’re beautiful, and honestly, you’re so charming that I feel like you’re completely out of my league,” I said.
”Thank you! ♪ But the fact that you were hesitating so much means there’s more to it than just that, right?” Grete asked.
”Yeah, you’re right… To be completely honest, I just get incredibly nervous around you,” I said.
Grete is an extrovert through and through, a popular girl without a single shred of doubt.
She is bright, deeply attentive to the needs of others, and incredibly sensitive to the minor nuances of emotion.
She can naturally achieve all the social things that I am entirely incapable of doing; personality-wise, it would be accurate to say we are exact opposites.
And the truth is, I had virtually zero interaction with popular, extroverted girls like her in my previous life.
It wasn’t that I had absolutely no contact… if I’m being completely honest, there was even a time I fell deeply in love with one, but things never went well.
That experience morphed into a massive psychological complex, causing me to become deeply uncomfortable around extroverted types.
I subconsciously give up before I even try, convincing myself that they belong to an existence completely out of my reach.
I automatically hold my feelings back without even realizing it, just to protect myself from falling in love.
Whenever someone like that approaches me closer than I ever anticipated, I panic.
Even though my complex has been somewhat mitigated after interacting with so many different women in this world, it hasn’t vanished entirely.
I’m perfectly fine if we’re just having a normal conversation, but the moment she links her arm with mine, I can’t help but overreact.
This still happens occasionally even when I’m dealing with Sylvie, but it becomes infinitely more pronounced whenever I’m facing Grete.
The deeply ingrained virgin mindset woven into the very fabric of my soul is an incredibly difficult thing to strip away.
”I see… That’s a shame. I really don’t want to cause any trouble for you, Daisuke-san, so it’s probably best if I just give up,” Grete said.
”No! It’s true that I feel a bit intimidated by you, but I don’t find it unpleasant in the slightest. It might take a little time for me to start taking the initiative, but I can say without a doubt that I genuinely like you, Grete,” I said.
I need to stop harboring this stupid extrovert complex once and for all.
The current me is enjoying life vastly more than any basic popular guy from my previous life ever did.
Grete just happened to be the one to trigger these old anxieties, but it’s about time I finally overcame them.
”Grete, I want to ask you formally from my side. Please, become my lover,” I said.
”…Mm, okay! ♪ I’m so relieved. If I had actually gotten rejected, I would have been incredibly lonely,” Grete said.
Smiling happily with a touch of endearing shyness, Grete looked about twenty percent cuter than she normally did.
She was insanely beautiful, but as my complex and a strange sense of nostalgia were simultaneously stimulated, my heart felt deeply restless.
I wonder if I’m still dragging out the lingering ghost of that girl who rejected me all those years ago, someone whose face I can barely even remember anymore.
I really want to believe that I’ll be able to fully move past it eventually.
* * *
A girl like Grete is naturally incredibly popular in this world as well.
From various bits and pieces dropped throughout our conversations, it’s highly apparent that she has received romantic advances from a significant number of men.
It turns out that even if the fantasy world is entirely different, human relationships and attraction don’t change all that much.
Knowing that someone like Grete chose me out of everyone else makes me feel incredibly happy.
Of course, every single one of my lovers is absolutely spectacular!
They are all partners I can boast about with immense pride.
”In that case, I should probably perform the Oath with you,” I said.
”Ah, so we really are doing it,” Grete said.
”Did you hear about it from the other girls?” I asked.
”Hehe, yeah, I did! ♪ I’m really happy about it… but you don’t have to force yourself to do it just for my sake, you know?” Grete said.
”I’m not forcing myself at all. I’m doing it strictly because it’s something I want to do,” I said.
Diet didn’t have any prior information about the ritual, but since Grete already lives in the same house and possesses incredible communication skills, she had already gathered all the details from the other lovers.
It seemed she was well aware of the Oath’s existence.
It wasn’t as if the Oath was the sole reason we were becoming lovers, but Grete looked visibly relieved to hear my proposal.
Even though we were already sharing a living space, she wasn’t officially my lover, nor was she a slave.
Because her position within the household was uniquely unstable compared to the others, she admitted that she had been harboring a lot of internal anxiety about it.
Under normal circumstances, a girl wouldn’t push to move in with a guy while things were that ambiguous, but it turns out there was a reason behind her actions.
”A lot of things happened back in my previous party. It’s the kind of trouble that’s honestly pretty common, though~” Grete sighed.
”That was Etogā and the others’ party, right? Was the relationship between the members that bad?” I asked.
”Hmm, it wasn’t exactly that we hated each other, but if I had stayed with them any longer, things felt like they were going to get dangerous. It’s definitely true that I wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible,” Grete replied.
Her face twisted into a complex expression that looked deeply regretful, yet simultaneously filled with immense relief.
They had probably gotten along perfectly well when the party was first formed.
For context, Etogā is a rookie adventurer who insists on calling me his big brother, and he’s a cat-type beastman.
However, the actual core of the trouble remains entirely vague to me.
She says it’s “common,” yet insists they didn’t explicitly dislike each other.
And yet, she felt an imminent sense of physical danger?
…I honestly don’t get it at all.
Since Grete looks like she’s having a really hard time talking about the specifics, I shouldn’t force her to open up about it.
”If you were dealing with that kind of dangerous trouble, it would have been perfectly fine if you had just told me sooner,” I said.
”I knew that if I came to you for advice, you would let me depend on you completely, Daisuke-san… but I felt really bad about taking advantage of your kindness. Though in the end, I wound up forcing my way into your house anyway, so I guess it amounts to the exact same thing. I’m really sorry,” Grete said.
”No, I don’t mind it at all. If it wasn’t for this specific sequence of events, I probably wouldn’t have managed to become lovers with you like this, Grete,” I said.
”Hehe, thank you! ♪” Grete said.
It was undeniably an unfortunate situation for Grete, but it wound up being a massive stroke of good luck for me.
Though obviously, that’s something I can absolutely never say out loud to her while she’s still recovering from the trauma of it.
