Volume 6 Chapter 4 The Bloody Feast of Men Serving Their Beloved Wives
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Don’t falter! Our King is behind us! Don’t forget who’s watching!”

Farrell’s thunderous roar shook the battlefield, and green phosphorescent light burst from his entire body.
’Spirit Shroud.’1
His aura condensed until it seemed almost solid, reinforcing flesh and bone alike. When his boots slammed into the mud, the ground exploded beneath him, and his figure vanished from the sight of any ordinary man.
Slash, slash, crunch!
It was not wind magic driving the attack. The force came entirely from Farrell’s blade. Three strikes flashed through the air at supersonic speed, leaving green afterimages behind as they tore through the leading Zombies. The impact traveled up his arms while shattered ribs and broken Magic Stones burst apart beneath the edge of his sword.
The heap of corpses collapsed at once, and ten shadows surged through the blood-soaked path.
BOOM!
A heavy metallic crash echoed across the field.
Volos met the charge head-on, bracing a great shield nearly as tall as he was against a rotting boar that weighed well over six hundred kilograms. Air burst against the shield’s surface.
’Air Cushion.’
The spell softened the impact, but the remaining force still drove him backward. His boots carved deep trenches through the mud while thick veins bulged along his neck. Even so, he did not yield an inch.
The moment the beast staggered, Volos thrust his short sword forward and buried it deep in its chest. Bone cracked beneath the blade before the core hidden within shattered, and the giant body collapsed without another sound.
A gale swept past before the corpse even hit the ground.
Thwip, thwip.
Zeid sprinted to the front line with his longbow already drawn.
’Wind Shoot.’
At almost point-blank range, wind-wrapped arrows spun through the air and punched through Zombie chests. Fragments of shattered Magic Stones burst from their backs as the monsters crumpled.
”Shh!”
Sliding beneath Zeid’s line of fire, Hugh dove forward. His paired greatswords traced silver arcs through the air.
”Slash, slash, thrust.”
His blades cut through Achilles’ tendons before he drove a backhanded strike deep into a falling Zombie’s chest. The creature collapsed before it could recover, and when Hugh withdrew the weapon, black sludge and powdered core matter clung to the steel.
Mud sprayed into the air as Gante charged in from the flank. While running, he slammed a palm against the earth.
”Entangle—’Root Bind’!”
The ground rumbled. Thick roots burst upward like serpents and wrapped around Zombie legs, dragging them down. Before one struggling corpse could rise again, Gante brought his broad cleaver-like sword crashing into its back.
Thud.
The heavy blow shattered its spine and crushed the core hidden near the heart.
Beside him, Oris’s longsword let out a low hum.
’Air Hammer.’
Compressed air gathered around the blade’s tip as he thrust.
THUD!
The stab struck with the force of a warhammer. The Zombie’s chest caved inward, its lungs and heart reduced to pulp before the body was hurled away, vomiting rotten remains as it died.
Above them, the treetops swayed.
Nax raced from branch to branch, carried by the wind at his back. He dropped from the canopy in a blur and plunged his dagger through the gap beneath a Zombie’s collarbone, driving straight into its heart.
”Yayyy! Direct hit!”
The pressure at the center of the battlefield began to build as the enemy pushed forward.
Before the line could break, Baldo stepped in. He knocked aside a claw with his sword and pressed his free hand against his chest.
”Burn!”
WHOOSH!
A Fire Ball detonated at point-blank range. The blast tore open the monster’s ribcage, and Baldo calmly slid his blade into the exposed heart.
Elza followed close behind. Though armed with a bow, she fought alongside the vanguard.
”Targeting core—’Element Arrow.’”
The glowing arrow shot forward and ignored flesh, armor, and bone alike. Instead, it struck directly at the Magic Stone hidden deep within the corpse. The core burst with a dry pop, and the giant body immediately stopped moving.
At her side, Lumi’s curved blade flashed.
The movement came from a step Sylvia herself had taught her. She slipped past a sweeping claw by the narrowest margin and spun through the opening, her slash carrying the full force of her momentum.
”Gotcha.”
The blade cut through bone and split the corpse in two, destroying the Magic Stone hidden inside.
”There!”
Ciel darted out from behind Volos’s shield.
Pressing her palm to the ground, she forced thorny vines to erupt from the earth.
”Thorn Bush.”
The wall of thorns stalled the incoming black tide for a precious moment. As trapped Zombies struggled to free themselves, Ciel moved between them and drove her dagger into their chests one after another.
At the center of it all, Farrell never stopped moving.
With Spirit Shroud blazing brighter than before, he stepped directly into the thickest part of the horde.
’Wind Slasher.’
The sword technique unleashed a vacuum blade that raced across the battlefield in a straight line. Three Zombies were cut apart at once, their chests splitting open as the Magic Stones embedded within them shattered.
Every one of them stood on the front line.
Every one of them was a cog in the slaughter.
Mired in mud, drenched in black blood, and breathing hard, they continued to advance. Their blades never slowed, and the army of the dead was driven backward through sheer force.
Flesh scattered across the battlefield while dark blood soaked the earth. It was a massacre.
Yet deep within the forest, beyond the sea of corpses, something far larger stirred.
A colder presence crawled out of the darkness. Compared to it, the Zombies seemed no more significant than dust. The pressure alone was enough to make the Elves freeze where they stood.
High on the hill, however, Ryuichi looked down upon that presence with mild satisfaction and unmistakable boredom.
”Verily, a most tedious display.”
He did not move.
Without lifting a finger, he ruled the battlefield simply by standing there. As far as his gaze reached, defeat was impossible.
Because they all knew.
The monster emerging from the forest promised death, but that terror paled beside the thought of disappointing the King who stood behind them. Fear and devotion had become so tightly intertwined that neither could be separated from the other.

Summary:
Farrell and his elite vanguard unit launch a relentless, coordinated assault against an army of undead, utilizing specialized combat techniques to efficiently destroy their cores. Despite the slaughter, a massive, oppressive presence known as the King of Rot emerges from the forest, freezing the onlookers. Ryuichi watches the entire spectacle from a nearby hill, exerting absolute psychological control over his subordinates.
—
Trivia:
The vanguard members operate like perfectly synchronized gears rather than individual soldiers.
The Magic Stones are identified as the actual cores that must be destroyed to permanently kill the undead.
The psychological pressure exerted by Ryuichi is described as being more terrifying to the soldiers than the physical threat of the monsters.
The King of Rot is established as an outlier in threat level compared to standard zombies.
