Volume 2 Chapter 11 THE PITCH
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The afternoon following our third simulated dungeon run, Chifumi-san brought me a rather interesting update.
”A few of the unaligned girls in our class are making a move,” Chifumi-san announced, her voice pitching up with a hyper-cute, bubbly squeal. “They super-duper want to join our group right now!”
On Wednesday after school, our entire circle gathered at my place to hold an emergency strategy meeting. Risa-san was the first to bite, her tone dripping with casual indifference. “Huh. Like who?” she asked, crossing her arms.
”Pretty much all the solo players left,” Chifumi-san cheered, clapping her hands together with an energetic bounce. “Every single one of them!”
”All of them? What’s that about?” Risa-san grumbled.
”They’ve clearly realized they’re down to the wire,” Chifumi-san explained, leaning forward with an enthusiastic beam. “Nobody wants to get left behind, so they all panicked and scrambled at the exact same time! They each approached me separately, you see!”
The moment our practical exams started, recruiting from other classes had been officially greenlit. Despite that, those three girls had spent last week’s second exam doing nothing but self-study. In other words, not a single external group had bothered to reach out to them. At this rate, they faced a grim ultimatum: either get swallowed whole by Komoda-kun’s faction, or end up stuck in a miserable party composed entirely of leftover dominant females1. Compared to those options, joining my circle was easily the lesser of two evils.
Within our group dynamic, Chifumi-san held the undisputed top rank. The fact that they had approached her first to test the waters showed they at least understood basic sorcerer etiquette. Come to think of it, I’d noticed those three burning holes in the back of my head quite a bit today, and piece by piece it was all starting to add up.
”If we take all three, we’ll overshoot the party cap,” Yurina-san noted, casting an anxious glance my way. Yurina-san’s face revealed her pure insecurity as she clearly spun out, terrified she might be cut loose to make room for new blood.
There wasn’t a universe where I’d ever discard anyone in this room just to trade up for those three—not from an aesthetic standpoint, and certainly not when it came to their long-term growth potential as sorcerers. “Exactly,” Chifumi-san chimed in, nodding vigorously with a wide smile. “Which is why taking all three is completely off the table, yay!”
”Honestly, we haven’t even decided if we’re letting a single one of them join yet,” Risa-san countered.
”Wait, really?” Yurina-san blinked, surprised.
”It simply means Minoru-san doesn’t have enough data to make an informed decision yet,” Chifumi-san added, smoothly filling in the blanks of my thought process with a playful wink.
”If the four of us can clear the current simulated dungeon on our own, we don’t strictly need anyone else,” I explained. “Besides, if a party is technically understaffed, the academy gives them priority drafting rights whenever transfer students arrive.”
”Transfer students?” Risa-san echoed.
Chifumi-san nodded, happy to lecture with a bright, idol-like grin. “They filter in on a regular schedule! For the most part, they’re top-tier students from Shisei, or elite kids with complicated backgrounds from National High schools in other districts! The academy only clears them for transfer if they’re guaranteed to keep up with our curriculum, so they tend to be incredibly capable, super stars!”
To put it in gaming terms, they were the premium characters you saved your resources for on a limited-time event banner.
”If you’re asking whether the four of us can handle the dungeon alone… it might be a bit tight,” Risa-san admitted, tapping her chin. “I feel like our frontline is missing a dedicated tank.”
”I am so deeply sorry, Master Minoru,” Yurina-san murmured, her head dropping forward in a gesture of absolute, formal submission. “It is entirely my own inadequacy that holds us back from achieving your grand designs.”
”Don’t beat yourself up, Yurina-san. You did great out there yesterday,” I assured her. “I appreciate the fire in your belly.”
Yurina-san had poured all her training hours into refining her Severing Sorcery. During our third run, when we stumbled upon an anatomical mannequin model, she had successfully sliced the monster’s arm clean off.
”Be that as it may, the harsh reality remains that relying on a single vanguard for close-quarters combat leaves us incredibly vulnerable,” Chifumi-san pointed out, making a cute pouting face. “There’s only so much Minoru-san and I can do to cover the gaps from the backline!”
On that front, everyone was on the exact same page.
”Out of those three, does anyone actually look like a frontline brawler?” I asked.
”On paper, any of them could probably pull it off,” Chifumi-san giggled, striking a small pose.
Chifumi-san pulled three loose-leaf sheets from her bag, each detailed with a student’s profile. “If we’re prioritizing a unique innate trait, Kasakura-san is easily the standout choice!” she cheered, holding up one of the papers with a flourish.
Innate Sorcery differed from standard magical disciplines that anyone could master later in life. These were unique, hereditary traits born directly into a sorcerer’s bloodline, and because the distinct properties passed down from parent to child, people often called them Legacy Sorcery. Chifumi-san’s Flowing Cadence and Yurina-san’s Severing Sorcery were prime examples. The Tatemiya family had passed down the Tatemiya Aegis style for generations, and my own innate magic followed the same rule.
Innate sorceries almost always boasted superior mana conversion efficiency. Anyone wielding a genuinely useful lineage trait stayed in high demand. For a group like ours, which lacked massive raw mana pools, mastering and exploiting these innate traits offered our only path to outstripping the competition.
”Kasakura-san is an absolute specialist in defensive sorcery,” Chifumi-san continued, her voice practically singing with enthusiasm. “Her shields are totally top-tier, but her offensive and support capabilities are practically nonexistent! The other groups likely passed on her because she lacks versatility, or because they already have someone filling that exact role!”
”And the other two?”
”Standard physical reinforcement types,” Chifumi-san added, offering a bright, sunny smile. “Their styles differ slightly, but both can hold the line as vanguards! They’re your typical balanced, all-rounder builds!”
With that data in mind, I conjured up their faces. Naturally, all three of them were quite obese. If I had to pick from the bunch… “Kasakura-san, huh…”
She was the quiet girl with glasses and twin braids who sat in the front row, right near Yurina-san’s desk. Exceptionally tall—easily pushing five-foot-ten—she walked with a pronounced slouch during class, doing everything she could to make her large frame look small. She only had one real friend: Mari Nagase-san, the bob-cut girl who had already snapped up a spot in Ryota’s group. Apparently, they’d been inseparable since elementary school. They used to eat lunch together every day, but lately, Kasakura-san had been dining solo. That was simply the brutal reality of a school where social life revolved entirely around your sorcerer circle.
You’d think she could have just squeezed into Ryota’s group, but his circle was already capped out at six, leaving no slot for her. Since the other two unaligned girls always ate together, Kasakura-san had been left floating in limbo, giving off the distinct vibe of someone with utterly abysmal social skills. As for her physical appearance, she carried a massive amount of excess fat around her midsection. In other words, she possessed the ideal, robust physique expected of an exemplary sorcerer. It wasn’t a bad look by this world’s standards, but it wasn’t nearly enough to catch a connoisseur like Ryota’s eye.
The other two girls were similarly plump. Their faces were cute enough, I supposed. Then again, sorcerers inherently possessed far more refined facial structures than ordinary plain-folk. In a school like this, the baseline average for beauty was so high that even a decent face just blended into the background. Not to be hypocritical given my own plain looks, but at the end of the day, they were the definition of generic Mob Characters A and B.
Which meant, purely on aesthetics, Kasakura-san was our best bet. She was the type to quietly handle classroom chores like cleaning duty without throwing a tantrum. Her focus in class was sharp, and her grades were perfectly respectable. Character-wise, she wouldn’t cause trouble. In fact, Ryota had actually pulled me aside earlier to ask if I could take her in. Apparently, Nagase-san had begged him to ensure Kasakura-san didn’t end up on the academy’s academic chopping block. All things considered, she was definitely worth considering.
Seeing that I hadn’t even bothered to utter the names of the other two, Risa-san and Yurina-san immediately caught on to who I was leaning toward and voiced their approval.
”Honestly, a pure defensive specialist sounds perfect,” Risa-san mused. “Not having to worry about an apparition’s claws while we focus entirely on dealing damage would be a massive relief.”
”As things stand, our primary offensive output relies on the masterful sorcery of Minoru-sama and Chifumi-san,” Yurina-san declared, bowing slightly from the waist. “Securing a perfectly safe environment for your incantations will drastically optimize our dungeon clearing speed, sir.”
Both were surprisingly onboard. I supposed it helped that a pure tank didn’t threaten their own roles or encroach on their standing within the group.
”What do you think, Chifumi-san?”
”Well,” Chifumi-san chirped, pressing her hands together over her cheek. “Why don’t we bring her along as a trial member for our next dungeon run and see what she’s made of? Yay!”
With that, the matter was settled. Kasakura-san would accompany us on our next training exercise.
”Alright, that wraps up our official business for today,” Chifumi-san squealed, flashing a wicked, knowing grin. “But before we dismiss, it’s time for some fun!”
Right on cue, Risa-san and Yurina-san closed the distance, flanking me tightly.
”We need to make absolutely sure you remember exactly what our real roles are in this house,” Risa-san said, a smirk playing on her lips.
”Minoru-sama, please allow us to perform our humble duties and attend to your every comfort,” Yurina-san whispered, lowering her gaze in absolute reverence.
Hands reached out, deftly peeling the clothes from my body. And just like that, I spent the rest of the evening being blissfully, thoroughly drained.
The next day, our meeting with Kasakura-san was set for lunch break. The venue: the Guidance Room. While it usually served as our private lounge for post-battle reviews or a convenient place to drag the girls whenever I was feeling turned on, the room was, technically speaking, meant for serious academic consultations. It came fully equipped with a conference table, chairs, and proper lighting. Today, we were actually using it for its intended, wholesome purpose.
”Thank you so much for meeting with me…” Kasakura-san stammered, her voice shaking with quiet, standard politeness.
Following us into the room, Kasakura-san took a seat at my invitation and bowed her head so low her braids nearly touched her lap. Chifumi-san and I pulled up two chairs to face her directly across the table, while Risa-san and Yurina-san stood like silent sentinels right behind my shoulders. I hadn’t intended to orchestrate a high-pressure interrogation, but Chifumi-san had insisted on this specific arrangement, so I rolled with it.
”So, Kasakura-san. I hear you’re looking to join our circle,” I began.
”Yes…” she whispered, her eyes glued to the tabletop.
”Do you mind telling me why?”
”Um… well, at this rate, I won’t be able to clear the upcoming dungeon quotas, and I’ll face academic disqualification,” Kasakura-san explained, her tone formal yet deeply timid. “Since Tatemiya-san’s group still has open slots… I was hoping you might have room for me…”
Well, at least she was honest. Every other group in our class was fully staffed, and she clearly lacked the social confidence to go soliciting groups from other classrooms. It was a choice born entirely out of elimination. While I appreciated the blunt honesty, you’d think she would have prepared a slightly more flattering cover story. A little lip service wouldn’t have killed her—like claiming she’d been harboring a secret admiration for me or something.
”Right. …Is that everything?”
”Everything else?” Kasakura-san echoed, her breath catching. “Um… well………… I…”
Cornered by my follow-up, Kasakura-san completely froze, sinking into a panicked silence. The quiet stretched on, thick and suffocating. Yikes. Talk about an awkward vibe.
Thankfully, Chifumi-san stepped in with a flawless save. “Kasakura-san, you need to understand that entering our circle means submitting completely to our group’s established rules!” she cheered, her bubbly voice piercing the tension. “Do you have the total resolve for that?!”
”Ah… yes… I’ll give it my absolute best,” Kasakura-san answered, bracing herself with careful decorum.
For now, that answer would suffice.
”Obeying Minoru-san as our absolute leader… that includes undergoing his private ‘instruction’2 after our matches!” Chifumi-san giggled, striking a playful pose. “Furthermore, during dungeon exploration, you will be expected to serve as our frontline shield, taking the brunt of the apparitions’ assaults! These two conditions are entirely non-negotiable!”
”I understand. I’m prepared for whatever it takes…” Kasakura-san replied, her voice tightening with quiet dignity.
This time, her voice carried a noticeable weight of determination. She was fully aware of what it meant to become my proprietary property—an Alpha Female bound to my whim—and she understood the physical sacrifices required of her role.
I caught Chifumi-san’s eye. The bare minimum threshold had been cleared. Now, the final piece of the puzzle depended entirely on how well she could actually perform in the heat of combat.
”Wonderful!” Chifumi-san beamed, clapping her hands. “In that case, let’s run a little test!”
”A test…?” Kasakura-san blinked.
”During tomorrow’s dungeon training, you’ll join us as a provisional member,” Chifumi-san announced with an energetic spin. “We’ll make our final decision based entirely on your performance out there!”
”Understood,” Kasakura-san said, bowing her head.
The rest of the break was spent hashing out the logistics for the upcoming run. With the training scheduled for tomorrow, we needed to finalize her equipment loadout, prep her paperwork, and clear the administrative hurdles before the final bell. Chifumi-san handled the bureaucratic red tape with clinical efficiency, wrapping everything up by the time school let out.
As soon as classes dismissed, Kasakura-san hurried home to prepare her gear for the next day. As she walked away, she kept casting nervous glances back over her shoulder, bowing repeatedly while slouching her towering frame to look as unassuming as possible. It was a slightly pitiful sight that left me feeling a bit uneasy.
”Is she really going to be okay?” Risa-san muttered, voicing the collective doubt.
”Hmm…” I couldn’t give her a definitive answer.
”Lineage-wise, her family background is perfectly respectable!” Chifumi-san noted, reviewing her files with a bright, idol-like wink. “There’s nothing flashy, but they’re a dependable bloodline of sorcerers who consistently deliver solid results! Even looking back several generations, there’s no shared blood with the Tatemiya line! Introducing her unique magical properties into our future lineage wouldn’t be a bad genetic investment for either side!”
If Chifumi-san was looking at it from a eugenics standpoint, I supposed I could trust her judgment. Still, there was one glaring issue lingering on my mind.
”If we actually bring her on permanently, I think I’ll hold off on her ‘instruction’ for a while.”
”…Wait, Minoru-san, don’t tell me you can’t get it up for her?” Risa-san asked, a smirk playing on her lips. “Is it because you have that weird plain-folk fetish?”
”I just think it’s better for everyone involved if we’re both actually enjoying the ‘instruction,’” I deflected, sidestepping her teasing.
To a normal, hormonally charged high school boy native to this world, a tall, thick girl with twin braids and glasses would be an absolute dream come true. But for someone like me, who already had three exceptionally stunning, slender girls completely at my sexual disposal, the bar was set incredibly high. When you have a kitchen stocked with world-class gourmet meals ready to be served at a moment’s notice, you don’t exactly go out of your way to pull up to a cheap fast-food drive-thru.
At the very least, I needed her to clean up her appearance a bit. To be precise, I needed her to shed enough of that heavy layer of fat to at least match my definition of a pleasantly plump, curvy girl. The problem was that this world viewed obesity as the absolute peak of feminine beauty. As far as Kasakura-san was concerned, her thick, heavy build gave her a massive advantage in dungeon exploration, meaning she likely viewed herself as a luxurious, high-end delicacy while Chifumi-san and the others were the cheap fast food.
It would be infinitely faster to just initiate her once, become her master, and order her to lose the weight… but man, what a headache.
”We’ll find out during tomorrow’s dungeon run anyway,” Risa-san pointed out, shrugging. “If she completely bombs it, the whole deal is off, right? Why waste energy worrying about it now?”
”…True. Let’s stick to that.”
With the discussion tabled, I took Yurina-san—who was on duty for tonight—and headed back home. That evening, quite apart from our standard dinner, I partook of an exquisite traditional feast, savoring every last bite of her devotion until my heart’s content.

Summary:
Deliberating over a sudden surplus of applicants, Minoru and his close inner circle hold a strategy meeting to address the class’s leftover solo players. They identify the defensive specialist Kasakura as a strong operational option despite her timid personality and the comedic physical standard expected of competent sorcerers in this reversed ecosystem. After conducting a strict preliminary interview in the Guidance Room, they decide to admit her as a provisional asset for the next real dungeon run. However, Minoru remains internally conflicted about the aesthetic adjustments required before he proceeds with her personal instruction.
