Chapter 560 Turmoil on the Southern Continent ①
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
It had been some time since spring had arrived in the Kingdom of Canaria. Nada-Rume, a guest from the Southern Continent who had departed from that land, was now well underway aboard her vessel. The Northern Continent was already far behind them, and it was about time for the Southern Continent to come into view.
”…Are we still not there yet?” Nada-Rume muttered, her voice tinged with a heavy, impatient sigh.
”We’re not, you know,” her crewmate replied casually from across the deck. “You should know that by now, Big Sister Nada. More importantly, if a sea dragon attacks, we’re counting on you.”
The vessel carrying her was one dispatched from the Southern Continent by her master, Meryamisha. Meryamisha owned several such ships, and the crew consisted mostly of individuals who, like Nada-Rume, were under Meryamisha’s protection.
”I know,” Nada-Rume said, staring out over the water. “But at this rate, I wonder if we’ll make it before the Governor dies…”
”Even so, we’re going at full squeeze,” the crewmate answered with a cynical shrug. “Let’s just have faith in that horny old bastard’s sheer tenacity to stay alive.”1
”Mm…” Nada-Rume grunted in response.
Naturally, Nada-Rume had already caught wind of the current situation in the Southern Continent while at the ports of the Maritime Nation of Sylvaol. The message left by Meryamisha was as follows:
・The Governor is in critical condition; his remaining time is short.
・If possible, extract support from the Kingdom of Canaria.
・If that proves impossible, establish a regular trade route.
・If support can be secured from the Kingdom of Canaria, extending the length of your stay is permissible.
・Ultimately, even seeking asylum should be kept in mind as an option.
While Nada-Rume had been away, the situation had shifted drastically. The one they ultimately served was Meryamisha; they couldn’t care less what happened to the Governor. Even so, right now, they prayed his life would hold out for as long as possible.
Without even needing to extend her stay, Nada-Rume had successfully secured support from the Kingdom of Canaria and immediately set sail. It had been a bit of a gamble, but her decision to reveal her true identity in that country seemed to have been the right choice.
There were two forms of support she managed to extract from the Kingdom of Canaria. The first concerned trade. Going far beyond their bare-minimum target of regularly importing adult Magic Circuits, they were actually able to export their own local product──”Komipom,” otherwise known as “rubber beans.”
This was an incredibly massive achievement. Normally, when launching a ship from the Southern Continent, they would carry some goods as cargo, but from now on, they no longer had to stress over selecting inventory or finding buyers. Combined with the sales of the adult Magic Circuits, this would undoubtedly become a massive source of funding.
By the way, a small amount of “Komipom” had been loaded into their current cargo as well, which had already been sent ahead to the Kingdom of Canaria. By the time of their next visit, research on it would likely be well underway.
The second form of support was far more immediate and practical. Prior to their very first official transaction, the Kingdom of Canaria had generously paid them upfront. It was a gesture of consideration, acknowledging that given the volatile state of affairs in the Southern Continent, they would be in dire need of liquid capital.
The payment would be processed through Sylvaol. On paper, the Kingdom of Canaria would take out a loan from Sylvaol, and that money would then be paid out to Nada-Rume and her crew. After all, what Nada-Rume’s faction needed wasn’t the currency of the Kingdom of Canaria.
Using that money, Nada-Rume and her crew were able to shop to their hearts’ content in Sylvaol. While it wasn’t quite enough to fully prepare for open warfare, having cash on hand that they could use immediately was a godsend.
Furthermore, they would exchange a portion of it into the currency of Aurumcame to take back home. Having produced results of this caliber, she would surely be able to live up to Meryamisha’s expectations.
Naturally, they would need to pay back the debt during their next trade window, but the Kingdom of Canaria had gone so far as to permit installment payments for that as well. The arrangement was set up so that by offering a slight discount on their side during the first few transactions, the upfront funds from this time would be completely written off.
Because the deal was almost too good to be true, her companions had pressed her, asking, “How on earth did you manage to negotiate this?” However, she could hardly tell them, “I got intimate with one of their high-ranking ministers,” leaving Nada-Rume with no choice but to keep her mouth shut.
In reality, it was the result of complex economic, diplomatic, and technological calculations, paired with the magnanimity of the next king, Roland. Yet, in Nada-Rume’s own mind, the assistance of her “beloved,” Kento Harvest, played a monumental role.2
Even now, simply remembering him caused a throbbing ache deep in her lower abdomen, but she would eventually have to explain the situation to her master, Meryamisha, and that thought alone weighed heavily on her. “To think that the Nada-Rume would actually use a woman’s weapons…!” Whether her master reacted with sheer shock or endless teasing, just imagining either scenario made her feel like her face was about to catch fire.
The companion she had been talking to cast a suspicious glance her way, but she cleared her throat with a sharp ahem to brush it off. Now was not the time to be daydreaming about such things. No matter how safe a shipping route they had chosen, there was no guarantee that magical beasts wouldn’t wander near.
”Oh, speak of the devil, I can see a shadow right beneath the water’s surface,” the crewmate called out, leaning over the railing. “Shall we deal with it normally? Or do you want to test ‘that’ out again?”
”…Let’s see. Let’s give it one more try,” Nada-Rume decided, her posture straightening as she reached into her vest. “Once we get closer to land, we won’t be able to do a test firing.”
Just as she had finally managed to change gears, Nada-Rume was forced to bring Kento back to mind once more. After all, the “that” her companion spoke of was none other than the “talisman” Kento had gifted her.
”…As always, it has a completely ridiculous shape, doesn’t it?” the crewmate remarked, suppressing a chuckle.
”…Yeah. But its firepower is no joke,” Nada-Rume replied with dead serious focus. “I’m sure you already know, but don’t get carelessly close to it, all right?”
What Nada-Rume pulled from her cleavage was, no matter how anyone looked at it, a c**k. Since it even came complete with balls, it looked far more like a c**k than the actual “Dildo-Buddy.” Yes, it was the “Mini Dildo-Buddy Cannon” that Kento had refined and downsized through continuous modifications.
Before sending Nada-Rume back to the Southern Continent, Kento had agonized over it endlessly. As a man who possessed far too much affection for women, he simply couldn’t bring himself to send her back empty-handed. However, most of his Magic Circuits were strictly guarded state secrets. In particular, the “Dildo-Buddy Cannon” was a secret among secrets.
If that was the case, he had considered giving her a magic-powered “gun” that he had quietly invented, but its inner mechanisms were simpler than the “Dildo-Buddy Cannon,” making it far riskier to handle. Quite frankly, he was also anxious about its firepower being insufficient. The ultimate compromise resulting from that dilemma was this “Mini Dildo-Buddy Cannon,” which was heavily layered with multiple layers of concealment magic to obscure its technology.
He had bowed his head repeatedly to Queen Cecile, eventually receiving her word that she “would pretend she never heard a thing” (which essentially meant: you take full responsibility if this blows up in your face). He had also given Nada-Rume a long, exhaustive list of conditions: “You must never show this to anyone except those closest to you,” “You must never use it for anything other than self-defense,” and “Your test firings must be done exclusively out at sea.” It was a protective talisman realized only through walking such an incredibly tight rope.
Nada-Rume gripped the balls of the “Mini Dildo-Buddy Cannon” and locked her sights onto the shadow beneath the waves. As she channeled her Mana Circuits into it, the “Testicular Circuit” began to activate. The Mana Circuits, condensed through the “Seminal Vesicle Circuit,” traveled along the “Urethral Circuit” and discharged directly from the tip.
Byuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut!!!!!!!
A thin, viscous beam of pure white light cut straight through the surroundings, extending infinitely forward. The light cleanly pierced the shadow, dyeing the surface of the sea a brilliant crimson long before the sea dragon could even reveal its form. Nada-Rume exhaled a soft, “Phew…” and stared intently at the c**k—no, the “Mini Dildo-Buddy Cannon”—in her hand.
”…It really is utterly terrifying,” the crewmate whispered, wide-eyed with awe. “To think that something like this is being developed over in the Northern Continent.”
”…Yeah. Though it has plenty of its own drawbacks,” Nada-Rume muttered, turning the device over. “It doesn’t seem like they can produce them in large quantities, and because the line of fire is incredibly easy to read, you can’t really use it unless it’s a surprise attack. A first-rate mage would still hold the upper hand. But still…”
Nada-Rume recalled the rumors she had heard before heading to the Kingdom of Canaria—the story of a white light that had pierced through two Great Dragons simultaneously. Looking at this “Mini Dildo-Buddy Cannon,” she couldn’t help but naturally visualize that gargantuan version.
”Just what kind of person creates such an insane Magic Circuit?” the crewmate asked, completely fascinated.
”Well, how should I put it…” Nada-Rume trailed off, searching for the right words.
Nada-Rume almost said, “He was a bit of a pervert,” but held her tongue. She then almost said, “He has a massive soft spot for women,” but shook her head, thinking that wasn’t quite right either. Following that, words like “a brilliant man,” “a peculiar mage,” and “a highly capable merchant” flashed through her mind, but none of them felt like a perfect fit.
In the end, it all boiled down to him being her “beloved”… but there was absolutely no way she could say that out loud. Thus, she simply muttered a quiet line.
”He was an incredible man, you know…”
