Volume 4 Chapter 8 Self-Restraint
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I had, at the very least, reported the problems with the new ship to the Fourth Sage and Helbert, the middle-aged man.
”You’re expected to hand over the details of what we just discussed, you know,” the Fourth Sage said with his usual cold, evil air.
Then, in his typical cruel way, he told me to hand over the shipyard’s management to my successor so I could focus on making dynamite.
I tried to refuse. I said that since I’d only been here for about ten days, I could hardly do more than say hello and make small talk. But that was when the Principal and the Dean walked in. Knowing that any conversation with them would turn into a boring, pointless back-and-forth, I left them to it and quickly headed toward the conference room where my successor was supposedly waiting.
Most of the university’s buildings were made of stone or brick, but the shipyard buildings—except for the actual worksite—were cheap, wooden-framed structures. I walked down a dark hallway lit by weak, flickering lights and slid open the door to the conference room. Inside, the tables had been pushed to the sides, and a large group of people were gathered in front of a blackboard.
Standing out among them was a woman with bright red hair, taller than the rest.
As I entered, a few people noticed and turned. The red-haired woman also looked my way.
”Louise?” I asked, surprised.
It had been so long since I’d last seen her. When she recognized me, her slightly strict expression softened, and she hurried toward me.
The room was crowded, so she had to turn sideways to squeeze between people.
Wait, is Louise the successor? No, the crowd’s attention wasn’t on her, but on someone standing in front of the blackboard.
”Husband,” she whispered.
As she came out of the crowd, she said that word and crashed into me in a hug.
’It’s tight,’ I thought.
I had grown a bit taller, but when she grabbed me, my face was still right at Louise’s chest level. With the raw strength of a former soldier, she pressed my face into her breasts, cutting off my air, and her grip was no joke. I sent a telepathic scream, and she loosened her hold a little.
’My apologies. It was instinct,’ she sent back.
With a bit more room to breathe, I wrapped my arms around her too.
’People are watching,’ I noted.
Hah, look who’s talking? But when I turned my neck while still holding her, I saw that, yes, a large group of people was indeed watching us.
”Ahem. Cough.” I cleared my throat loudly.
I quickly pulled away from Louise with a forced cough, and another familiar face came out of the crowd. It was Aslan Gar, a Captain and the former Chief of the Arsenal Bureau back at the Royal Capital.
”It’s been a while, Captain. I heard you became the director of the shipyard,” I said, greeting him.
The Dwarf, with his beard and a friendly smile, had been the Chief of the Arsenal Bureau when I was developing the |fixed-wing drone| (a flying machine without a pilot), and he had been a huge help to me then.
”Nonsense, nonsense. I retired last year, and I was helping out at Principal Louise’s place, but then I got summoned, you see,” Aslan replied.
”Were you told to take charge of the new ship?” I asked.
The old Dwarf said that was exactly the case, smiling as he twisted his white-streaked nose hair over and over. Maybe because he was the original director here, the looks the people gave him were completely different from the ones they gave me. They were warm.
Behind him appeared a woman even taller than him, with a figure that could only be described as alluring.
”Long time no see, Larry-sensei,” Katarina said.
It was Katarina, who had become an assistant professor at the Academy.
”Weren’t you in the Royal Capital?” I asked her.
I remembered her saying in Cain that she was going to marry a man from the Arsenal Bureau. Come to think of it, I hadn’t seen her at the Academy since I’d come back from the Royal Capital.
”We broke up,” she whispered.
Maybe because there were so many people around, she stepped closer and whispered that in my ear.
”I’m not very good with Mana (magical energy) circuits myself, so it was perfect that she came along with that knowledge, truly,” Aslan added.
Aslan-san gave a wry smile, though he seemed a bit pleased that Katarina had joined. Still, wasn’t Katarina’s fiancé a subordinate of Aslan-san’s?
After finishing my greetings with the familiar faces, we moved on to the actual handover.
Most of the people gathered here were the heads of their departments. While listening to their voices and my explanations, the old Dwarf quickly understood the whole scope of the new ship project. His way of running the meeting was impressive. Using a small model placed on a stand in the middle of the crowd, he found problems as he listened to me and the master carpenter, writing them down on the blackboard. When he didn’t understand something, his questions were sharp, and he made decisions on the spot whenever possible.
”Can that Bohemian plate glass handle the impact of the waves?” Aslan asked.
It turned out the glass I’d installed before had shattered completely. Rosa had wanted to use the plate glass that had started appearing, but I’d never seen it before.
”Well then, it can’t be helped. Let’s use the molted shells of Ice Snow Spiders (a type of magical spider) for the bridge windows. Mike, do you have stock?” Aslan ordered.
Since he hadn’t left long ago, he knew exactly who was responsible for what, so his instructions were quick and precise. At this rate, he would probably finish much faster than I could.
When the handover meeting ended, I went to the Naval Academy for tea with the former director, Katarina, and Louise. There was a place for tea at the shipyard, but the University Dining Hall was more relaxing. By the way, Louise said she had only come along because the former director invited her, saying she would be able to see me.
We grabbed a table, placed our orders, and the conversation turned to me.
”I’ve heard all sorts of things. Still, it sounds like you’ve been pulled around quite a bit. You’ve had a rough time,” Aslan said.
The former director was absolutely right. Since returning from the Grand Principality (a new small country), I hadn’t had a moment of peace.
I gave the three of them a short summary of what happened after the 53rd Defensive Battle. How I had been sentenced to death, my trip to Rus in exchange for my life, the various twists and turns that led to the founding of the Fee Grand Principality, and my role in the rebuilding of Larland, and so on. To me, it felt like a blur of events, but they were quite shocked.
”Is it true that you’re going to be Tina-princess’s husband?” Louise asked, her voice full of worry.
Louise looked nervous. I hadn’t mentioned the marriage, but she had heard it somewhere—a sharp woman.
”I haven’t agreed to it, but it feels like I’ve fallen into a trap I can’t escape,” I sighed.
It was an unsatisfying situation. I felt like the walls were closing in, and I was right at the edge of whether I could get out or not.
”If it were true, I’d have to go back to the Royal Palace soon. But I was hoping that if I kept working here, they might let it slide,” I added.
However, neither the former director nor Louise agreed with that. Maybe the Royal Family wasn’t that forgiving.
”There are many people of the Celt (a neighboring country) here as well. I often hear rumors that their King’s health is bad. If he were to die, there is a high chance that the relationship between Celt and Schweilitz (the kingdom where the story takes place) will change from a simple alliance to a Personal union (one ruler for both countries),” Aslan explained.
”That means Tina-princess would become the Queen of both Celt and Schweilitz, doesn’t it?” I said.
Apparently, one monarch ruling two countries had happened several times in history in the western part of this continent.
”Then, Husband, will you become the Prince Consort of those two countries?” Louise asked.
I wish they’d spare me.
”But my status is that of a commoner. When I mentioned that at the Duke’s estate, I was looked down on quite badly. It’s not a suitable status to marry into the Royal Family, so I’d like them to drop the subject,” I insisted.
”Wait, Larry-sensei, do you dislike becoming a Prince?” Katarina asked, sounding genuinely confused.
”Of course I do. I want to live freely,” I said flatly.
”That is not how life works. I’ve lived for a hundred years, so I can tell you that for sure,” Aslan grumbled.
Aslan-san, the Dwarf who lives longer than humans, said that to me. But I hate what I hate.
”Besides, Larry, you are the father of the ruler of the Fee Grand Principality. You might have been a commoner originally, but you have the family line now. You don’t need to worry,” Aslan reassured me.
”I’d prefer if you did worry about that, actually. And besides, I’m supposed to be dead, so my son inherited the Grand Duchy. In the Fee Grand Principality, I am a dead man,” I retorted.
”Don’t worry about it. Royalty is, by nature, a selfish bunch. Reviving a ‘dead’ Larry is a task they could do before breakfast,” Aslan chuckled.
Indeed, looking at the King of Schweilitz’s family, I couldn’t help but think he was right. If it were them, they were capable of exactly that.
”Come to think of it, Larry-sensei, you’ve fathered children all over the place. But what happens when you become a Prince?” Katarina teased.
Katarina, you’re asking that so casually, but it’s a very sharp remark. You should think a bit more about how you say things.
”They would be treated as relatives on the mother’s side, at most. But it’s unlikely they’d be given titles just for that. Well, I don’t think they’ll have trouble finding marriage partners, at least,” Aslan answered for me, stroking his beard proudly.
The former director touched his beard and spoke proudly. Children… that reminded me.
”Louise, how is Peter?” I asked.
Peter was the child Louise had given birth to. A boy, he was the younger half-brother of Reinhardt, who had become the Grand Duke.
”He’s been weaned, so I’ve left him with my parents,” she replied.
Her family lived in the neighboring territory, so she apparently went back once a week to see him.
”I forgot,” Katarina said suddenly.
Katarina let out a funny cry. She had forgotten to tell me that Manuela had given birth to a boy.
Because things were a mess at home, she hadn’t been able to write a letter and had been asked to just pass the news along by word of mouth. Apparently, they hadn’t even named him yet.
”Then he’s Peter’s younger brother, isn’t he?” Louise said, smiling.
Louise looked a little happy, but there was a somewhat difficult problem. Manuela’s status was that of a slave. She had been sold into slavery as the wife of a man who had committed a death-penalty crime—he had plotted a rebellion against the nation in another land. She herself had done nothing wrong.
And the child of a slave is a slave, even if the father is a Prince. Even in the relatively free Schweilitz, there was a strict order of classes. Releasing the mother, Manuela, to become a commoner only required waiting six months after being made a slave. But if the child was born as a slave, they couldn’t be set free until the age of seven.
According to Katarina, the birth had gone well, and both mother and child were healthy. That was the only good thing.
But, if he was born to Manuela…
”Katarina, didn’t you receive a letter for Marie?” I asked.
She said she didn’t know anything about that. If my memory was right, Ellie, the daughter of Duke Igor—whom I’d mistakenly thought was a virgin prostitute and slept with before Manuela—should have given birth by now. Moreover, she was the granddaughter of the powerful Frontier Count Pugachev of the Empire of Rus. I had hoped there might at least be a letter.
In a little while, there would be Pia and Katri as well. After that, my sister-in-law. And then, the women of Sedation.
I need to practice some self-control.
”Katarina, it’s about time we took our leave,” Aslan said, sensing my mood.
The former director, having noticed I was lost in thought, came up with a strange excuse to leave.
’Husband, that must have been difficult,’ Louise whispered through our bond.
As we sat side by side in a corner of the military academy’s coffee room, Louise took my hand and spoke to me through telepathy.

Truly, this person was pure. She loved me unconditionally. Furthermore, when I read her mind, I learned that her parents wanted to meet me. It wasn’t about demanding I enter the family register or anything like that. They simply wanted to meet the man who had blessed their daughter, Louise, with a child.
That, at least, I could handle.
At that moment, for some reason, Louise’s heart began to grow cloudy.
”Husband, did you get Isabella pregnant?” she asked with a touch of cold formality.
Just as I was reading Louise’s mind, she was reading my heart in return.
Isabella was the former female leader of a South Bohemia Mercenary group, but she had surrendered to Schweilitz and joined the Royal Army. Because we were assigned to the same unit, she had become friends with Louise, who shared a similar background.
”Back when we returned from Larland,” I replied in a short, military way.
Just as I thought to make an excuse—that it couldn’t be helped because I was under Sedation—a bud of desire sprouted in her heart.
”Are you displeased?” she asked, her voice carrying an air of refined, upper-class curiosity.
”No, that is not it,” I stated plainly.
It wasn’t so much that the bud had grown, but rather that upon learning I had slept with her friend, for some reason, her desire seemed to catch fire.
Stimulated by that, I showed her the memory of when Major Sonya, Veronica Second Lieutenant, and I had played with Louise in the old Golems (magic constructs) Battalion barracks. Or rather, she saw it because I happened to remember it.
The large woman, Louise, stripped naked, blindfolded, and tied on all fours on a table.
After being thoroughly put through a mix of verbal abuse and humiliation play while being played with mostly by Major Sonya, she was finally finished by me.
She finds the image of herself being violated extremely exciting.

Having been relieved of my duties overseeing the new ship, I went straight to Louise’s house.
The moment I stepped into the entrance hall, Louise spun around, clung to me, and kissed me before trying to pull off my trousers on the spot.
Even though she was wearing a neat, dark-navy Principal-Professor outfit with a white blouse, her passion was on fire.
”Ruin me. Being rough is fine too,” she pleaded, her tone changing to a breathless, desperate rhythm.
Being a Mage, her desires were high to begin with, but this was a request from a Louise who had been strangely trained by the former Golems Battalion officer and commander, Major Sonya.
In that case.
I grabbed her by the hair, which had been growing out from a very short cut.
I pressed her against the wall and tore through the white blouse with a hand passed from behind to the front, the buttons scattering across the floor like rain.
Turning her around, I slid the straps of the bra resting against her bare skin under her jacket to show her breasts, and when I gripped them with all my strength, beads of breast milk flew out in several streams.
Louise’s eyes were sparkling.
I drank the breast milk, pushed her large body down onto the floor, thrust my hand into her skirt, and pinched her sensitive spot, pouring in as much Mana Control (magical energy control) as I could.
She screamed in the entrance hall, but none of the servants appeared.
Apparently, they are sent home for the night.
I took her right there in the entrance hall, still in her clothes.
When Louise enters that mode, she turns pain into pleasure.
In particular, when I sent Mana from my fingertips directly into her skin, it caused pain in her thin-skinned areas, but in some places, that alone was enough to make her reach the peak.
Not only that, the shame, humiliation, and verbal abuse burned her desire to the point where she could no longer think.
All of which, of course, was because Sonya had drilled so much into her.
When we finished in the entrance hall, I took her into the bath, still clothed, and had my way with her.
She even showed reactions to water torture and strangling.
This, too, was thanks to Major Sonya.
She is a rugged, tough-looking female soldier, but her inner self is unexpectedly cute.
That, however, is thanks to me.
In the end, I had my way with her mouth while she ate the dinner she had prepared completely naked.
”Husband,” she called out.
When we finally lay down in bed, Louise turned to me.
”That was too much,” she scolded, her tone a mix of pretend politeness and real exhaustion.
”So, is it alright if I get pregnant?” she added, her voice dropping to a soft, hesitant whisper.
I don’t really understand what “so” refers to.
It seems that because she lost a baby once, she wants the next child as soon as possible.
”You can do as you like, Louise,” I said with a shrug.
”Thank you,” she murmured.
As I turned my back to her, she clung to me from behind and sent a telepathic message about our son, Peter.
Even though I had intended to show some restraint.
* * *
The next morning.
”Coming home in the morning, what a self-indulgent thing to do,” a voice spat with a sharp, street-tough edge.
”You reek of a woman; it’s unbearable,” another added in the same aggressive, short tone.
My slaves have such foul mouths.

The day after my morning return, the ice arrived early, and I began making dynamite in the wilderness a short distance away.
While cooling the container in ice water, I added nitric acid to glycerin and mixed it with nitrocellulose (an explosive material), which had also been treated with acid.
Of course, I did the work using humanoid-type Golems, hiding in a nearby trench in an area surrounded by sandbags. But I caused it to explode several times while mixing the nitroglycerin (a powerful explosive liquid) and nitrocellulose.
Even then, through several failures, I learned the tricks of the trade.
Using up all the starting materials, I managed to create a bucket’s worth of gel-like dynamite. But I called people in to discuss matters like how large to divide it.
While most were too busy to come, Katarina and Birger Dons, a guest professor in the Naval Academy’s Department of Navigation and a member of the Celt Royal Army, arrived.
The people from the Arsenal Bureau who had been helping me up to this point also joined these two in watching the actual explosion of the dynamite.
As a result, the amount of dynamite to be loaded onto the |fixed-wing drone| was set at fifty grams.
”Professors,” Katarina breathed, her voice filled with a strange, bubbly intensity.
Katarina was looking at me with moist eyes.
We hadn’t let others near the explosion site because of the danger, and the atmosphere became quite suspicious.
”The explosion made my womb resonate,” she confessed with a blush.
She said she couldn’t hold it back.
I had heard there are women who get excited by the sound of fireworks, but I am in a position where I must practice self-control.
”Just by putting the tip in—” she urged, her tone dripping with a desperate, heavy sweetness.
If a man said it, it would be unbelievable, but coming from the erotic Katarina, I couldn’t help but think it might be true.
Or rather, I had already thought so.
