Chapter 37 The Canine Fiancée and the Feline Count’s Daughter

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

I had finished dinner with my guests, Cecilia and Lizel, taken a long, relaxing soak in the bath, and was now unwinding in my bedroom.

Sitting right beside me on the spacious bed was my fiancée, Cecilia, her face lit up with a look of pure, pure bliss.

”Fufu. This outfit really is incredibly lovely~desuwa. You possess such a marvelous imagination, Xenos-sama.”

She was wearing a dog-themed loungewear set—something I had specially prepared for her under the logic of “you never know when this might come in handy.”

The fabric was a fluffy, off-white material that looked as though it had absorbed the gentle glow of the moonlight. It featured a charming design, complete with perky, upright ears and a tail that wagged playfully with her every movement. Its smooth, soft texture practically begged to be touched.

Cecilia seemed to be genuinely thrilled with the outfit.

She twirled around on the spot, thoroughly enjoying the way her tail swayed. It was an innocent, heartwarming display, reminiscent of a puppy eagerly wagging its tail.

Watching her, I couldn’t help but feel my own lips curl into a soft smile.

Come to think of it, the Cecilia from the original game script――

She had deeply sympathized with the ideals of “abolishing slavery” and “eradicating discrimination against demi-humans” championed by Prince Liam, which was what drew them close in the first place.

If I recalled correctly, she had a particularly strong interest in coexisting with “beastfolk.”

Seeing her rejoice so thoroughly over the cosplay outfit I’ve provided made me a bit carried away.

”Hahaha. Actually, I’m also aiming for a world where we can coexist with the beastfolk. Eventually, I’d like to build a world where we can stand on equal footing with them――and join hands.”

The smooth, placating words slipped effortlessly from my tongue.

”Oh my! Xenos-sama, what a magnificent way of thinking! If there is anything at all I can do to help, please allow me to cooperate! “

Cecilia’s deep blue eyes sparkled with dazzling brilliance as she tightly gripped my hands. The warmth radiating from her fingertips slowly spread across my palms.

 …Whoops.

In the future, I was supposed to pull the strings from the shadows as the leader of a military alliance dedicated to “maintaining the status quo.” A faction that fully intended to keep fighting and killing beastfolk and elves.

And yet, I had just voiced an objective that was the exact, polar opposite.

The thought crossed my mind for a fleeting second, but I quickly shook it off and embraced a shameless, “well, whatever” attitude. My ultimate goal was simply to secure “victory.”

If it made Cecilia this happy, I wouldn’t mind adding the abolition of beastfolk discrimination to my list of policies. In fact, I had only just concluded an alliance with the elves anyway.

* * *

I gently stroked the fluffy, plush dog ears of Cecilia’s outfit with my fingers while letting my mind wander over my future plans for territorial expansion. However, with so many complex variables intertwined, I couldn’t arrive at a definitive conclusion.

Well, things will work out somehow.

Just as I was hitting the reset button on my thoughts――

There came a soft, hesitant knock at the bedroom door.

The sound echoed with peculiar clarity through the otherwise quiet room.

”Is that you, Lizel? Go ahead, come in.”

Though I granted permission, the door remained closed for a long moment.

After a brief pause, as if she had finally steeled her resolve, the door slowly creaked open. Standing there was Lizel, dressed in a cat cosplay outfit.

Her loungewear was crafted from a sleek, glossy black fabric that brought to mind the deep darkness of the night. Perched on her head was a pair of sharp, triangular cat ears, and a long tail extended from her waist.

Her face was flushed bright red with embarrassment as she fidgeted nervously at the entrance. Her long bangs cast a shadow over her downward-cast face.

The reason she had arrived so much later than Cecilia was likely because her usual “physical examination” had run long. …Or perhaps she had hesitated to enter out of sheer embarrassment at the thought of Cecilia seeing her in a cosplay outfit?

Either way, it didn’t change the fact that she looked absolutely adorable.

”W-Well… I mean, what is up with this outfit…. You insisted that I absolutely had to wear it, so I only put it on for your sake, okay…!”

Perhaps because Cecilia was in the room, Lizel’s tsundere traits were dialed up to full “tsun” mode. Whenever it was just the two of us she was always incredibly enthusiastic, making her remarkably subdued tonight.

Looking at Lizel, Cecilia’s eyes instantly “lit up” with excitement.

”Oh my! Lizel-sama, you look absolutely darling~desuwa!”

Evidently, the dog-loving Cecilia was equally fond of cats. Her eyes held the pure, unbridled curiosity of a predator that had just spotted its prize.

Stepping off the bed, I effortlessly swept the frozen Lizel up into a bridal carry.

Her body felt astonishingly light in my arms. I carried her straight over to the bed and gently sat her down right next to me.

With that, Cecilia and I effectively flanked her from both sides.

”You truly are beautiful, Lizel-sama~desuwa,” Cecilia murmured, an enraptured expression taking over her features as she began to gently stroke and fluff Lizel’s cat ears. Her fingertips slowly traced the soft line of the fur.

”She is my prized pet, after all,” I remarked.

Hearing this, Lizel’s eyes snapped wide open in sheer fury.

”W-Who are you calling your pet?!”

I instantly cut off her protest by pressing a kiss against her soft cheek. A faint, sweet fragrance tickled my nostrils.

In an instant, her burning anger melted away into nothingness.

 ”Hy-Hyunyan…!”

Lizel let out an incredibly cute, cat-like squeak, her face flushing an even deeper shade of crimson. I could feel her petite frame trembling slightly.

 ”Oh, how precious.”

Cecilia followed suit, placing a soft, tender kiss on Lizel’s opposite cheek.

As if handling a priceless, irreplaceable treasure, the two of us showered Lizel with absolute affection.

Accompanied by her sweet, breathless sighs――

The night over the Grimlock Margrave estate slowly and beautifully deepened.

 —

 Summary:

Moving directly into a late-night setting following dinner, Xenos interacts intimately with his fiancée Cecilia who sports an off-white canine costume. Their conversation shifts accidentally to geopolitical goals regarding beastfolk coexistence, inducing a sudden alignment with Cecilia’s inner ideals. The atmosphere alters with the arrival of a flustered Lizel wearing black feline loungewear, leaving Xenos and Cecilia to playfully tease her while structural expansion plans remain an unresolved variable.

 —

 Trivia:

Cecilia’s underlying worldview aligns deeply with the political reform platforms originally promoted by Prince Liam in the original game timeline.

Xenos is tracking a predetermined alliance timeline where he is structurally intended to stand at the absolute summit of an old-regime preservation military force.

Lizel’s delayed entrance into the quarters is attributed to a routine check or inspection process within the estate structure.

The alliance with the elf faction has already been formally concluded prior to the current comedic developments.

Notes:

• Cecilia – The eldest daughter of the Vermillion Duchy is a graceful noble with crimson hair and cobalt-blue eyes. Cold and status-driven, she despises her non-magical fiancé, Xenos, seeking an annulment while secretly courting Prince Liam as a potential concubine. Despite her political maneuvering, her soul is marked by Xenos’s crest. Privately, she loves beastfolk advocacy and playful, themed cosplay.

• Lizel – A petite, graceful count’s daughter from the Blanchet family, this magic academy student features vivid pink twin-tails and deep purple eyes. A powerful wind mage with a volatile temper, she is Luca Dalton’s fiancée and Kai’s master. Though she plays the bullying victim, her prickly tsundere exterior hides a vulnerable side and deep romantic feelings for Xenos, whom she shadows constantly.

• de – A particle used in the aristocratic name of the Margrave Albion de Blanchefort.

• Xenos – Reincarnated as House Grimlock’s “Zero-Mana” heir, he masks immense power and a Magic Seal constitution behind an incompetent facade. A calculating strategist and theater manager, he manipulates politics and the underworld to dismantle enemies. This anti-hero masterfully subjugates noblewomen and elven slaves, orchestrating alliances and relationships to assert dominance as a future military leader.

• Liam – As the influential, idealistic First Prince, he advocates for harmony between humans and demi-humans while opposing the Grimlock family’s warmongering. His role is complicated by Xenos, his engagement to Princess Elisabeth, and his secret love for Cecilia. A calm, detached leader, he rallies his academy allies to maintain peace while balancing complex political duties against his personal desires.

• Grimlock – As head of the influential Margrave noble house, Xenos manages the family’s vast assets and military legacy in the Royal Capital. Alongside his father, Gaius, he leverages their prestigious standing to defend the nation’s borders and uphold their name. Their deep bond and shared duty to the frontier ensure the continued dominance of the estate inherited by Xenos.
