Dungeon-Succubus-Tester 272

Chapter 272 ⑮th Floor Area Guardian Battle, Part ①

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 …Tester Life, Day 134 – 2:00 PM – 14th Stratum, Castle Courtyard – Sanada Yakumo…

 ”Alright, let’s do this.”

After our long lunch break, I led everyone out of the Magic Tent and said those exact words.

We’d rested for about two hours to recover our MP, so I figured everyone was over the fatigue from our morning battles.

Sure, I’d mostly just been blasting magic during the Guardian fight, but before that, we’d fought a ton of Orcs on the main path and in the plaza front of the castle.

Sayaka’s MP was back to full too—I’d made sure of that during our break. It cost me a fair chunk of my own Mana Capacity in the process, but I still had about two-thirds left. Plenty for a vanguard like me.

Hanako, who’d been acting as Rock’s sparring partner, had apparently been in pretty rough shape when Sanae went to check on her after lunch. Her Black Iron Greatshields were dented all to hell, her full plate armor was covered in scratches, her helm had been knocked clean off, and her face was swollen with a bloody nose. Rock had probably clocked her with the shaft of his halberd.

According to Leticia, who went to cast Heal on her, Hanako had been making happy little snorts and looking positively blissed out. And Rock had been staring at her like she was something he’d scraped off his boot.

…Yeah, that was about what I expected. Sorry, Rock. But you’re the only one who can take your hits, so cut me some slack.

I let the two of them rest for about an hour after that. In the meantime, I bought a Bracelet of Power to upgrade Hanako’s new Greatshields and boost Rock even further. And after that, I focused on—well, on helping Sayaka recover her MP.

Apparently, Guardian fights rarely get broadcast on the Training Facility monitors, so Sayaka got plenty of… attention in the Magic Tent’s private room.

Anyway, we’d all rested up enough. I had everyone change into their gear, and now we were back in the courtyard, ready to take on the Area Guardian.

”Once we beat the Area Guardian, we’ll get to meet Minami-chan, Sayaka’s junior from the swimming club!” Karen said.

”Yeah, I can’t wait to see her,” Leticia added.

”She’ll definitely liven things up when she gets here.”

They were probably thinking about the Pearl Treasure Chests that drop after beating an Area Guardian.

Karen—who’d heard endless stories about Hoshino from Leticia—and Leticia—who’d apparently been close with her in the dorms—both looked excited about seeing her again.

Even Sayaka, who rarely mentioned Hoshino, seemed happy. Must’ve been worried about her junior from the swimming club. I understood—when the other swimming club members got sold off, Sayaka had celebrated like it was her own good fortune. And despite that, she’d never once asked me to rescue Hoshino first, even after we’d saved up enough DP for her—all because she’d trusted my word that I’d buy her once we cleared the 15th Floor. In fact, she’d urged me to buy Talismans of Life and expensive Potions for the party’s safety instead.

She was really something. What a woman.

As I was thinking that, Lunaria chimed in with an exasperated tone.

”What is it? Is this ‘Minami’ girl really that loud? Ah, right—she was sixteen, wasn’t she?”

”I believe you’re plenty loud yourself, Princess. Are you really twenty?” Sheena asked, her voice light with amusement.

”Wh—?! I’m a mature, composed woman by any standard!” Lunaria protested.

 ”You’re very noisy, Princess.”

”It’s only because Sheena keeps making baseless accusations!”

”Yes, yes. Sorry for being rude to my elder, Princess.”

 ”Ugh… Y-you wretch…”

Lunaria’s hand flew to her sword, veins bulging as she trembled in fury.

Sheena watched her with a perfectly calm expression—though her lips were definitely twitching. This sadistic rabbit always looked like she was having the time of her life when she was teasing Lunaria and Sanae. And honestly, she wasn’t wrong about the age thing.

Lunaria was probably just bitter because Sheena, who’d been two years older than her in life, kept rubbing it in. Then again, I’d heard Sheena had been the target of Lunaria’s age jokes back in the day, so I guess what goes around comes around.

 ”Alright, alright. Let’s get moving.”

I wrapped an arm around Lunaria’s trembling waist and headed for the castle’s grand entrance.

 ”Rock, open it up.”

 ”VON!”

At my command, Rock slung his halberd over his back, raised his Greatshields, and pushed open the doors.

Beyond them stood a black gate.

Ah. So we go through there to reach the 15th Floor? I’d assumed the Area Guardian was inside the castle, but maybe not? Were we getting teleported somewhere else?

For a second, I thought that—but it turned out to be a needless worry.

When Rock opened the black gate, the scenery beyond was indeed inside a castle.

Guess they set up the black gate just to make it feel like we were moving between strata, I thought, sending Rock, Hanako, and Saizou through first to check for danger.

 Hm. Seemed clear.

 ”Let’s go in.”

I led the way, and the others followed through the black gate.

Inside was a vast space with a red carpet and rows of towering pillars. The walls were pure white, and on the white pillars were carvings of humanoid figures—giant-like beings—gripping weapons.

Probably the residents of the town the Demon Tribe had destroyed. They looked like a warrior race.

High above, a massive chandelier with countless candles cast bright light across the room.

 ”Wow—an actual castle!” Karen said.

”Ooh~ my creative juices are flowing,” Sanae added.

”So it really was a town of giants after all,” Sayaka observed.

”Yeah. The houses were big too—everything’s oversized,” I agreed.

”Hm. I’ve never seen this race before,” Lunaria mused.

”Indeed. The architecture doesn’t match any race from Alku. They’re probably from a world the Demon Tribe destroyed in the past,” Leticia said.

”Those accursed demons! So they destroyed other worlds besides ours!” Lunaria exclaimed.

Leticia, being French-born, was the only one who’d seen a castle before—the others were clearly taking it all in for the first time, gazing at the walls, ceilings, and pillars with wide-eyed curiosity.

Lunaria, meanwhile, looked sour. But she’d been on the receiving end of the Demon Tribe’s destruction, so that was understandable.

Still, that same Lunaria—on the bed, no less—had suggested that once I became an Incubus, I should seduce and take over the Succubus Management Tribe, then restore the Beast Kingdom. Sheena had been all in on that plan, and they’d been competing over who’d bear my child first.

Not that I could actually get anyone pregnant yet—I hadn’t become an Incubus.

Either way, these women were something else.

I led them deeper into the castle.

No teleportation circles anywhere. Even this stratum—where the Area Guardian supposedly was—seemed designed so you could only escape with a Medal of Return or a Scroll.

 Thinking that, I glanced back.

Rock was covering the rear behind Sayaka. I could sense Saizou shadowing us from the ceiling and pillars using his MP detection. I wanted to tell him to just walk normally, but that was his style.

I’d dressed him in ninja garb on a whim at first—never imagined a goblin like Saizou would end up like this. Credit goes to Karen’s training. He was a useful familiar now, so no complaints.

Hanako was leading the pack, snorting excitedly—BUHI BUHI—as she advanced, her anticipation palpable. I followed, staying alert.

We came across a staircase, so we headed up to the second floor.

It was a spiral staircase, and with the high ceilings, there were a lot of steps.

When we finally reached the second floor, we found a wide corridor with many doors—but none of them would open.

No MP readings, either. Maybe there were no monsters here, like on the 5th and 10th Floors. Still, we stayed cautious as we moved on.

We climbed all the way to the fifth floor without encountering a single monster. At the end of the corridor sat a massive silver door, ornate and imposing.

To the left of the door was a carving of a crowned Orc in full plate armor, gripping a sword.

To the right, a female Orc in priestly robes, clutching a rod.

So the Area Guardian was beyond that door.

”My lord—it seems the Area Guardian is indeed an Orc King and Queen,” Leticia said.

”The Queen type from Alku—was she a healer?” I asked.

”Yes. She generally stays close to the King, only casting Heal on him. Occasionally she’ll heal wounded Orcs that fall back, but the King is her priority,” Leticia confirmed.

”Heal, huh? If that’s all she’s got, we can ignore her,” I said.

”Precisely. She doesn’t use attack magic, so she’s not much of a threat. Even Queen-type Hanako is far more dangerous,” Leticia replied.

 ”True.”

Hanako was dangerous… in a different sense. But yeah, if she were an enemy, she’d be a pain. Priority target, probably. And gross.

Anyway, the Area Guardian being an Orc King was expected. I’d already heard about its abilities during our break, and we’d shared countermeasures.

Also—given that the 10th Floor had been an all-star lineup drawn from the prior guardians—I suspected we’d also be facing the Guardians from the 11th through 13th Floors here.

”Alright, Hanako. Open it. But don’t go in yet, got it?” I commanded.

 ”BUHI,” Hanako replied.

I had Hanako raise her Greatshields and push open the massive doors.

With a light shove, they swung inward about halfway.

”Dark in there. Just like the 10th Floor,” I observed.

On the 10th Floor, the torches had ignited one by one as we entered. Seemed like the same setup here.

 ’Light.’

 ”Ah—it’s not working,” Sayaka said.

Her light orb had been deflected by some kind of barrier.

”Alright, Hanako goes in first. Once you’re inside and it lights up, wait for my command before activating Provocation. The King will probably cancel it, but your job is to spam it and draw aggro from the Wizards and regular Orcs—thin their numbers. Got it?” I instructed.

I laid out the plan; everyone nodded.

 Hanako entered, Greatshields raised.

I followed right behind her, with Rock, Lucy, and Feli coming in next to form a wall on both sides.

Then Sheena, Lunaria, Karen, Leticia, Sanae, and Sayaka filed in.

Everyone was inside. Leticia cast Sanctuary—and at the same moment, the doors slammed shut behind us.

Sayaka was about to cast Light.

But before she could, the ceiling flashed brightly, illuminating the room.

”Ha! Quite the welcome,” I said.

The room was huge—roughly 50 meters square. The floor was covered in red carpet, and from the ceiling hung three chandeliers identical to the one at the castle’s entrance.

A wide staircase, about twenty steps tall, stood at the rear. On top of it sat an enormous throne decorated with gold.

And on that throne sat an Orc—larger than Hanako, wearing a gold crown and full-body armor that appeared to be made of Mithril, holding a greatsword that seemed to be forged from Black Steel.

 So that’s the Orc King.

He radiates a power that doesn’t feel like he’s the same rank as Hanako.

And beside the Orc King stood an Orc in a white robe. That must be The Queen. I see—she’s got that healer look to her. Though the white robe looks absolutely horrifying on a pig.

In front of the King, about halfway down the stairs, two Wizards and two Archers stood. And in front of them, as if to protect the Wizards and The Queen, stood an Orc General holding Mithril Greatshields.

At the bottom of the stairs stood Red Orcs and Blue Orcs, clad in leather armor and wielding savage blades.

Furthermore, along the left and right walls of the room, two Orc Soldiers stood equipped with what appeared to be iron half-plate armor.

And following those Soldiers, ten Orcs each—also wearing half-plate armor—stood at regular intervals, as if to surround us.

Moreover, these twenty regular Orcs held spears.

So it’s an all-star lineup here too. And even the General we just fought is among them.

Dealing with this many spear-wielding Orcs would be a pain, but if they’re wearing iron armor, I can electrocute them all at once.

As the room lit up brightly, I quickly assessed the enemies and was about to instruct Hanako to activate Provocation.

 That’s when it happened.

 ’BUGOOOOOOOO!’

Suddenly, the Orc King stood up and let out a roar toward us.

In that instant, a wave-like pulse of Mana Capacity washed over us.

 ”Ah…n…”

 ”Ba…u…”

As a result, Lucy and Feli, who had been deployed on the left and right, froze solid.

 Damn! That’s King’s Roar!

 Right from the start? Seriously?!

I’d anticipated that the two lower-ranked companions would freeze from King’s Roar, but I never expected him to activate it right away.

Clicking my tongue internally, I shouted toward Hanako!

 ”Hanako!”

 ”BUH-HII!”

At my command, Hanako dashed forward, slammed her Greatshields into the floor, and purged the chest portion of her armor.

 ’BUFOOOOOO!’

At the same time, the King raised his sword above his head and brought it down with tremendous force.

He probably thinks that everyone except Hanako is still frozen. He’s trying to surround and annihilate us while he has the chance.

At the King’s signal to attack, the Archers nocked arrows and the Wizards began casting magic.

The Orc Soldiers and Orcs along the walls moved to surround us, maintaining equal intervals with swords and spears in hand.

The General and the Red and Blue Orcs flanking him didn’t move from their positions. They seemed to be the King and The Queen’s guards.

 ”BUH-HIII!♡”

 But here, Hanako’s Provocation skill—The Queen’s Temptation—activated.

Pressing her exposed chest together with both hands and bending forward, Hanako winked in all directions while emitting a pink glow.

In that instant, every Orc except the King and The Queen—who were of the same rank—flushed bright red. With rage.

The General abandoned his post and charged forward, Greatshields raised, with the Red and Blue Orcs following.

Simultaneously, arrows and Stone Balls flew toward Hanako.

But Hanako swiftly grabbed the Greatshields she’d planted in the floor and deflected them all.

 ”Hah!”

 ’Ice Lance’

With the General separated from the Wizards and Archers, and aggro now focused on Hanako, Sanae and Sayaka loosed their arrows and magic.

The result: Sanae’s arrow pierced the Archer’s throat, and Sayaka’s ice lance struck the remaining Wizard and Archer in the chest and abdomen. The areas around the impact points froze instantly, killing them on the spot.

I waited for the Orcs to cluster together and prepared to unleash Lightning.

Lucy and Feli, still frozen, were being carried back into the sanctuary by Lunaria and Sheena.

There was still no sign of the King shaking his underlings out of the Provocation effect.

Sanae and Sayaka, seizing the opportunity, nocked another arrow and began casting magic, targeting the approaching Orcs.

Leticia maintained the sanctuary, a Potion clutched in her hand for emergencies.

Diagonally in front of her, Karen readied her twin-barreled Magic Gun, and outside the sanctuary, Rock brandished his halberd.

On either side of me, Lunaria and Sheena had their swords and rapiers at the ready, eyes fixed on the Guardian-class Orcs closing in on Hanako.

Hanako herself shook her hips and tail at the approaching horde, letting out excited “BUH-HII” sounds as she waited.

At the very least, the spear-wielding Orcs that my Lightning missed could be wiped out in an instant.

That’s what I was thinking when it happened.

 ’BUGIIIIIT!’

The Orc Queen beside the King let out a cry, and the Orcs that had been advancing on Hanako instantly snapped out of it and stopped.

So it was The Queen, not the King, who canceled the Provocation.

 ”BUH-HIII!♡”

Realizing her Provocation had been negated, Hanako—still exposing her chest—slammed her Greatshields into the floor again and activated The Queen’s Temptation once more.

Once again, the General and the other Orcs fell for the Provocation.

Good. Let’s keep gathering the Orcs toward Hanako little by little.

 ’BUGIIIIIT!’

But once more, The Queen cried out, and they snapped back to their senses in an instant.

 ”BUH-HIII!♡”

 ’BUGIIIIIT!’

 ”BUH-HIII!♡”

 ’BUGIIIIIT!’

The two pigs’ battle of Provocation and cancellation continued for several more rounds.

The Queen’s response was faster than I’d expected.

The General and the Red and Blue Orcs were confused, sometimes stopping, sometimes trying to charge forward.

The Orc Soldiers and regular Orcs along the walls kept taking one step forward and stopping, over and over—like they were playing a giant game of freeze-tag.3

Ignoring all those Orcs, the two Queens continued squealing at each other.

We couldn’t attack for fear of drawing aggro away from Hanako.

I’d expected cancellations. I’d expected them, but… what the hell were we even watching?

I wasn’t the only one thinking that, apparently—even the Orc King’s face was twisted in frustration.

 ’FUGOOOOOO!’

Apparently deciding this was going nowhere, the King roared, and all the Orcs in the room glowed red.

Probably a skill that enhances his underlings.

Hanako tried using Provocation again, but this time it didn’t affect the General, the Red Orcs, or the Soldiers, who all returned to positions in front of The Queen.

The regular Orcs even snapped out of it before The Queen could cancel, forming a line with spears at the ready, maintaining distance, and advancing step by step to surround us.

 ”BUH-HII!♡”

Perhaps realizing Provocation was no longer effective, Hanako instead winked at Saizou and Rock and activated The Queen’s Favor.

A pink glow emanated from Saizou and Rock, both of whom made faces of pure disgust.

 ’Lightning’ — ‘Lightning.’4

Judging that the “Orc-attracting trick” had failed, I immediately unleashed Lightning at the spear-wielding Orcs closing in from both sides.5

The Orcs were still spread out, but their iron armor worked in my favor—I managed to immobilize about seven of them.

Though the King’s enhancement seemed to have reduced the number of instant kills.

Clicking my tongue internally, I glanced behind me.

During the Provocation back-and-forth, Lucy and Feli had recovered from their paralysis.

If Lunaria’s information was correct, the King couldn’t spam his roar.

The cheap-shot opener was dealt with. Now it’s our turn.

Looked like this wasn’t going to be as easy as the previous Guardian fight.

Fine by me. Let’s make this a real fight.

 —

 Summary:

The party finishes their rest and prepares to face the 15th Floor Area Guardian, an Orc King and Queen. After exploring the empty castle floors and encountering no monsters, they reach the Guardian’s chamber and discuss strategy before entering. The doors slam shut as they cross the threshold, and the room illuminates dramatically, revealing three massive chandeliers—setting the stage for the battle to come.

The party enters the Orc King’s throne room and assesses the enemy formation—an all-star lineup including the King, Queen, General, and twenty spear-wielding Orc Soldiers. After the King’s opening roar paralyzes Lucy and Feli, Hanako’s repeated Provocation attempts are countered by The Queen’s cancellations, creating a comedic stalemate until the King’s enhancement skill breaks the deadlock. Now the party must adapt their strategy for a direct confrontation.

 —

 Trivia:

Sanada Yakumo used a “middle-out” (nakadashi) method during the break to restore Sayaka’s MP, implying a sexual mechanic tied to mana recovery.

Hanako is a masochistic Queen-type orc who enjoys taking damage—Rock’s training session left her blissed out despite being beaten bloody.

The party is anticipating Minami’s arrival after defeating the Guardian—she’s Sayaka’s junior from the swimming club.

Sayaka sacrificed her chance to save Hoshino earlier because she trusted Yakumo’s promise to buy her after clearing Floor 15.

Lunaria and Sheena are competing over who will bear Yakumo’s child first, despite him not yet being an Incubus.

The 10th Floor Guardian was an “all-star” lineup drawn from previous floors—suggesting the 11th-13th Floor Guardians may also appear here.

Saizou was originally a regular goblin before Karen’s training turned him into a ninja familiar.

Leticia is French-born and the only party member who has seen a castle before, giving her unique perspective on the architecture.

The castle’s doors and gates are part of a deliberate “stratum transition” illusion—black gates make it feel like teleporting even when it’s just a physical threshold.

Lunaria’s long-term plan involves using Yakumo’s future Incubus powers to take over the Succubus Management Tribe and restore the Beast Kingdom.

The party cannot escape this stratum except via Medal of Return or Scrolls—no teleportation circles exist.

The Guardian chamber is roughly 50 meters square with three identical chandeliers and red carpet, matching the castle’s entrance aesthetic.

The Orc King can cancel Provocation, forcing Hanako to spam it just to aggro the lesser Orcs and Wizards.

No monsters appeared from floors 2 through 5, similar to the 5th and 10th Floor patterns—suggesting a boss-only floor structure.

The Black Iron Greatshields are consistently destroyed during training, requiring frequent replacements.

The King and The Queen are both the same rank as Hanako, making them immune to her Provocation effects.

Iron armor conducts electricity, making Lightning particularly effective against the Orc Soldiers.

King’s Roar causes paralysis in companions of lower rank than the King.

The Queen can cancel Provocation faster than Hanako can reapply it, creating the stalemate.

The King’s enhancement skill makes his underlings partially resistant to instant-kill effects.

Hanako’s The Queen’s Favor buff targets allies instead when enemies become immune to Provocation.

The sanctuary barrier protects party members from damage while they recover from paralysis.

The protagonist has already defeated a General-class Orc before entering this throne room.

 Translation Notes:

1 Japanese equivalent: “許せ” (yuruse) — meaning “forgive me” or “bear with me.” Translated idiomatically to “cut me some slack” to convey the same casual, apologetic tone in English.

2 Japanese equivalent: “因果応報” (inga ouhou) — a Buddhist concept of karmic retribution. Translated to the common English idiom to preserve the meaning while sounding natural.

3 Japanese children’s game similar to “Red Light, Green Light.” The literal translation is “The Daruma doll fell down.” This cultural reference is adapted to “freeze-tag” for Western accessibility while preserving the visual of Orcs freezing mid-motion like children playing a game.

4 The repeated skill activation in quick succession represents the protagonist casting Lightning twice in rapid sequence. The em dash creates visual separation between the two castings, mimicking the staccato rhythm of the original Japanese.

5 Translates the playful Japanese term “Orcホイホイ” (Orc-hoy-hoy), which uses the “-ホイホイ” suffix from “ゴキブリホイホイ” (cockroach trap). This localization preserves the ironic framing of combat tactics as pest control while maintaining the sardonic humor of the protagonist’s voice.
