Zero-Mana-Boss 97

Chapter 97 Queen Play

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

I’d infiltrated the living quarters of this underground facility—a criminal organization’s hideout—with the teleportation demon Ashraf, all to rescue a pitiful princess who, I’d been told, had been kidnapped by some unknown party.

And in the room beyond, I witnessed a bizarre scene.

A lovely young girl was straddling a fat, unattractive man, repeatedly lashing his grotesquely massive posterior with a leather whip—that was the scene before me.

”You told me this would work, didn’t you?” she snapped. “And yet NOTHING came from that theater! That means we haven’t eliminated my brother and sister’s sworn enemy! What exactly did you think I let myself get ‘kidnapped’ for!?”

 CRACK!

The sharp crack as the whip sliced through the air.

A dry echo rang through the room.

Just as Ashraf had reported. Princess Liliana had been given her freedom and was being treated surprisingly well by her “kidnappers.”

The details had escalated quite a bit—

but the broad strokes were accurate.

Liliana—the “Angel of the Asgard Kingdom.” On the surface, she was a captive of this criminal organization, but in reality, she reportedly acted like she owned the place—grand and domineering.

No restraints. The finest room in the facility. Fancy meals every day. That was the report.

So I hadn’t worried about her safety.

But I never expected things to have taken… such a perverse turn.

Calmly, without rushing, I observed the scene and set about my task. I silently recorded their little drama with the magic artifact I’d hidden in my coat.

”At this point, we’ve no choice! It’s time for the final resort!! Send our forces to that accursed Grimlock Manor and crush ’em by force!”

”W-we’d love to, Your Majesty, but… that manor’s security is even tighter than the rumors suggest. More to the point, there’s a very real chance they’ve hired a number of formidable guards—the kind nobody can identify. In fact, the assassins Margrave Blanchefort sent, and the spies dispatched by the colosseum master Zoltan Rex, were all effortlessly repelled. If we stir up trouble, we might end up pokin’ a hornet’s nest…”

 WHIP!

Liliana’s merciless lash caught his enormous backside square on.

 CRACK!!

The man let out a howl of what sounded like sheer delight.

”Th-thank you so much, Your Majesty!!”

She was a princess, not a queen. But here, she was apparently playing the role of “Queen.”

Eventually, as if bored, she rose gracefully from his back and settled into a nearby chair, reaching for the tea on the table.

”Your punishment and reward for today end here. I understand now that this man’s hideout is more heavily guarded than we anticipated. Bombs didn’t kill him. Skilled assassins were casually turned away. Spies are detected the moment they approach. So… what do you propose next?”

”…To be honest with you,” the man said, still on all fours, his gaze crawling toward her with a sticky, expectant hunger, “we’ve run out of options…”

”I won’t be punishing you any further.”

At Liliana’s utterly merciless words, the man visibly deflated, his massive shoulders sagging in genuine disappointment.

 Pathetic. Truly pathetic.

To think that this was the real Information King of the underworld.

 Yes—

Ignazio Valachia, the true Information King.

Ashraf’s preliminary investigation of this facility had revealed that the real Information King was this fat, pig-like man groveling on all fours before me. The snake-like, cold-blooded man I’d been dealing with up until now had apparently been nothing but a body double, playing the role of the “Information King.”

For a while longer, I eavesdropped—and recorded—the bizarre conversation between the young princess, sipping her tea with elegant composure, and the “real Information King,” dripping with sweat.

Once I had more than enough undeniable evidence—

 I began to move.

How had a princess and an underworld kingpin come to know each other?

Had the princess approached him? Or had Ignazio initiated contact?

More likely, Ignazio had sent gifts or provided information to Princess Liliana, slowly building a relationship. And somewhere along the way, “Queen and Pig” had been born.

I approached silently from behind the fat man on all fours, and with my index finger, I gently touched his flabby back. I channeled mana into his body, inducing the “Sleep” status effect.

 THUD!

A dull thud, and Ignazio collapsed like a puppet with its strings cut. Startled, Liliana’s sharp gaze swept the room in alarm.

At that moment, I dropped my presence-hiding magic.

”—I’ve come to escort you, Princess.”

I said it with theatrical flair, like an actor taking the stage.

I hadn’t originally intended to intervene directly in this affair—

but after Ashraf’s report, I changed my mind.

The Information King and Princess Liliana as a team were simply too dangerous.

If I’d followed the original plan—passing information to Serena Crystalight and letting her rescue the princess—Ignazio would have been captured as the kidnapper. And an Information King captured by the royal family would have sold them any “suspicions” he had about me. It wasn’t hard to imagine.

Hell, he might even claim I was the mastermind behind the kidnapping.

Besides, this underground facility was practically the heart of the underworld. For all sorts of reasons, having the incident resolved here was a bad idea.

I needed to separate Liliana from this place.

I glanced at the collapsed, sleeping man. I felt a pang of pity for him—this was the “angel” he’d worked so hard to acquire. But it couldn’t be helped.

”Now that I’m here, you have nothing to worry about.”

 ”Gh…! It’s YOU…!”

Liliana’s face twisted—shock and naked hostility warring in her beautiful features as she glared at me with intense loathing.

 How precious.

Apparently, my magnificent rescue performance was not exactly welcome.

 Of course not.

After all, I’m the Final Boss—the very one who threatens her precious sister and brother.

 —

 Summary:

The protagonist infiltrates an underground facility to rescue Princess Liliana, only to discover she’s dominating the Information King, Ignazio, in an S&M roleplay. He secretly records evidence and then incapacitates Ignazio before revealing himself. The chapter ends with the protagonist acknowledging he’s the Final Boss who threatens Liliana’s siblings.

 —

 Trivia:

Ignazio Valachia is the true Information King, not the snake-like man the protagonist previously dealt with.

The protagonist has a teleportation demon servant named Ashraf who conducted preliminary investigations.

Serena Crystalight was the original rescuer in the game script; the protagonist hijacked her role.

The protagonist is recording everything using a magic artifact for future leverage.

Grimlock Manor is the protagonist’s base and is heavily guarded.

Margrave Blanchefort and Zoltan Rex have both sent forces against the protagonist and failed.

The protagonist is the Final Boss of the original game and threatens Liliana’s siblings.
