Volume 8 Chapter 18 Sub-Eventt: District 13 High School Students Visit Shin-2 High School ②

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Mid-June arrived, and with it, the second exchange event was finally happening.

It took about a month for the Central Ministry of Sorcery to respond after we sent our inquiry. The reply came right around when Tarumii-sensei had started forgetting about it. After that, the student council put together a District 13 High School orientation program, and roles were assigned to each of the second-year participants.

Today was the day the New 2 students would be visiting.

The Student Council President and Komoda were waiting at the gate.

The rest of us student council members—except for me, Ryota, and the president—were waiting in the auditorium after school. Like last time, the teachers mostly stayed out of sight, and the students handled everything themselves.

As the visitors filed through the door, I spotted some familiar faces and some I’d never seen before.

What caught my attention most was a familiar face in the group.

Koumoto, the underclassman I’d run into during the last visit.

He spotted me and broke into this amused grin—the kind of look he gets when a prank’s gone off perfectly.

Once everyone had gathered, we started with introductions for the first-timers.

Besides Koumoto, there were four others: two from the newspaper club, one from the drama club, and one from the sumo club.

The newspaper club members were here for their main purpose—school newspaper production—while the others represented clubs where there were significant differences between our schools.

After greetings, we began the club tours. First stop: the drama club, which normally uses this auditorium for activities. At a signal from the student council members, the club members filed in. As we stood quietly off to the side, props were being set up on stage.

Training began, and after vocal warm-ups, the play started.

It was a well-known fairy tale. Along the way, they showcased something unique to the Sorcerer High School: stage effects powered by sorcery.

A river appeared on stage to float a peach downstream. A child grew into an adult. Realistic dogs, monkeys, and pheasants spoke. And the sword fights between the demon and the protagonist were the real deal—full-on choreographed combat using sorcery specifically designed for visual impact.

When the cast took their bows at the end, everyone applauded. It was a short piece, but I think we got our message across.

After the drama club, we moved on to the sumo club. During the walk over, Koumoto sidled up to me.

 ”Senpai, been a while.”

 ”What are you doing here?”

”Aww, that’s cold. Even a tough guy like me’s gotta feel that one, y’know?”

”I’m serious this time. If you came as the swimming club representative, there were plenty of better choices—heck, even Hikasa-senpai would’ve worked.”

”Aye, I’m not into that whole stealin’ or bein’ stolen game, mate. I’d do whatever it takes to avoid that mess. Truth is, I volunteered when everyone else was too scared to step up, and it just kinda stuck.”

 ”Huh? Nobody wanted to visit?”

”They don’t wanna catch a sorcerer’s attention, do they? Meanwhile, I’ve already got a connection with you, senpai, and I’m the fastest first-year swimmer we’ve got.”

”Hmph… I suppose that does make you the logical choice, kouhai.”

He wasn’t wrong. The kid had the track record and the skill to back it up.

”Heh. Sounds like you’re finally acknowledging me, senpai.”

”I’ve always acknowledged you. In swimming and… certain other areas.”

 ”Oof.”

As we chatted, we reached the sumo club. Koki-san greeted us at the entrance. Mitsuki was among the members lined up, waving cheerfully.

”Welcome to the sumo club. We’re honored to have you.”

 ”Pleased to meet you.”

The New 2 visitors were represented by the sumo club captain. Unlike the swimming club, the sumo club seemed to know better than to send just anyone—they actually sent a proper representative.

”I’d appreciate it if you didn’t make it sound like the swimming club lacks common sense.”

 ”My apologies.”

Koumoto and I watched the sumo club’s training with arms crossed. The New 2 captain changed and joined in for a bit.

”You gonna join the swimming club training too?”

 ”Nah, I’ll pass. Different rules.”

”They’ve got sorcery-free form checks and stuff.”

”I’ll just pick up what I need from observation.”

 Mitsuki drifted over to us.

 ”Hey, Koumoto. Sup.”

”!? O-Onigahara-senpai! Good to see you!”

He bowed at a perfect ninety-degree angle—the deepest respect. The difference in how he treated her versus me was downright painful.

”Koumoto, you’ve gotten even bigger. Put on some more muscle too? Kinda wasted on a plain-folk physique, honestly.”

”Thank you! Senpai, you’ve… well, you look different.”

”Yeah, I guess. I mean, he kept bugging me about it, y’know. Kept beggin’ me to join his group, begged me to lose weight. What can I say? That’s love for ya.”

That’s strange. I could’ve sworn Mitsuki lost weight on her own. And I was pretty sure she was the one who asked the Onigahara estate to let her into the group. Was she talking about a different worldline or something? Eh, I’d grill her about it later. Right now, I was more concerned about Koumoto’s attitude.

”Oi, Koumoto. Stop ogling her like that. I’ll allow you to look at my Mitsuki, but anything beyond that is off-limits. Try anything, and I’ll crush you.”

”Eep! I-I mean, c’mon, senpai, you know me. I’m a one-woman man. Yes, sir, look-don’t-touch all the way. So seriously, don’t crush me.”

For a guy with the build and aura of a sleazy NTR villain from an adult game, he was pure-hearted as they came. Mitsuki watched him cover his crotch protectively and laughed.

”Heard you’re seriously dating Hikasa-chan now. Minoru told me. Good for you. Treat her right.”

 ”Yeah! Of course!”

”Minoru, go easy on your underclassman, yeah?”

Mitsuki nodded at Koumoto’s words, gave me a gentle scolding, and then waved as she headed back. She rejoined the girls’ training, doing those sumo stomps. Can’t blame her—if we stood around chatting too long, Koki-san would have our heads.

The club experience wrapped up after the New 2 captain and Koki-san did a sorcery-free sparring match. The group then headed to their final stop: the swimming club.

I took the lead and guided them to the indoor pool.

Inside, the swimming club members were training. The Shooting Club President and Vice President came over to handle things when they saw us.

”I see. So this is how the facility is set up… And your training routine is…”

Koumoto dropped the casual vibe he had with me and started grilling them about swimming techniques. The guy was dead serious when it came to swimming. Since our club members were all on the plump side, he barely gave them a second look—no lecherous glances, just pure professionalism.

If anything, you could tell he wanted to confirm what he needed to and get out efficiently. Our club members were clearly impressed by Koumoto’s seemingly earnest demeanor. Poor souls. They had no idea.

After about ten minutes, the swimming club visit was done. We thanked the Shooting Club President and Vice President and left.

After the club visits, we toured District 13 High School’s facilities.

We took the New 2 newspaper club’s requests and guided them around. First stop was the guidance room, where they took photos and sketched. Then we hit the Simulated Dungeon Generator building, toured the guidance facility, and finally returned to the auditorium.

 That wrapped up the tour.

As the New 2 members filed out, Koumoto came up to me.

 ”Senpai, you got time today?”

 ”Yeah, I’m free.”

”Cool. Meet you at the station plaza after this. Got stuff to catch up on.”

 ”Got it.”

And just like that, my plans changed—supposedly to deepen my bonds with my underclassman. I let Mitsuki, my overnight partner, know before heading home.

When I arrived at the station plaza, Koumoto wasn’t alone.

The Hikasa sisters were there too.

 ”Heyyy. Good work today.”

 ”Good work, Tatemiya-senpai.”

After greeting each sister, we moved to a café. We headed back to the shopping street and settled into our usual spot—the four of us at a table by the window.

”Whoa. This place has such a nice vibe.”

 ”Looks expensive…”

I guided them to the window seats. When I offered to cover drinks, they went straight for the priciest items on the menu. The drinks came quickly, so we toasted and started chatting.

”Didn’t expect both Hikasa sisters to show up.”

”We got to see something really impressive at the sumo club. Think of this as a thank-you.”

”? The sumo club? Hiiro, I thought you went to see the swimming club?”

”My bad. It was the swimming club.”

She corrected herself casually, but I knew better. She’d seen Mitsuki in her training gear, felt intimidated by her newfound prowess, and decided she needed her sister as backup. Clearly, she hadn’t expected Mitsuki to make that much progress in just over a year.

”Originally, Ishimoto-chan was supposed to join us today, but she got sick, so I brought Akane as a pinch hitter.”

That name came out of nowhere.

 ”Senpai… you’re close with Ishimoto?”

”She’s my friend! Wait, you didn’t know, Tatemiya-kun?”

 ”Uh, no…”

I don’t exactly keep tabs on all the girls’ social circles.

”Ever wonder why Ishimoto-chan’s starting1 was so high?”

”I figured she and Chifumi had some connection from middle school.”

”That’s part of it, but I’ve also been feeding her all sorts of entertaining stories about you, Tatemiya-kun!”

 ”Entertaining stories? Feeding her?”

 ”Those are secrets!”

She crossed her arms in front of her chest, making an X. So there was another connection I didn’t know about. Also, the way her arms squished her b**bs—definitely a sight to behold.

 ”…”

Hikasa-chan remained silent. She seemed like she hadn’t quite caught up with the situation. That cold stare… wait, did she read my impure thoughts?!

Crap. Let’s wrap up the opening banter and get to the point.

”So? What did you want to talk about?”

”It’d be a shame if our reunion ended after just that, right? This is a cultural exchange event—let’s actually talk. Also, give me your contact info.”

 ”Yeah, sure.”

I tore off a piece of notebook paper, wrote down my number, and handed it over. In exchange, I got his number too.

 ”Senpai, you’re still a short-distance specialist, right?”

”You bet. With this build, long-distance is a mana drain.”

”Our club members’ builds were totally different. In sorcery-ruled competition, long-distance swimmers store more fat—but in sorcery-free rules, they’ve got less. Complete opposite.”

”The swimming club and the sumo club have different ideal body types depending on sorcery rules. I just picked what worked for me. Among the guys training today, I’m the fastest in short-distance backstroke. So yeah—I’m currently the fastest sorcery-ruled short-distance backstroke high school boy in all District 13.”

Koumoto, who’d ordered a special blend, snorted.

”That’s so specific the sample size is practically single digits. How do you even boast about that with a straight face?”

”It’s not wrong. The old saying goes,2 Pretty fitting for where I’m at right now. See, there was a reason I specialized in short-distance back in middle school—it was all for this moment!”

”That’s… honestly kinda refreshing, the way you just own it.”

Hikasa-senpai, nursing her coffee float, and Hikasa-chan, working on her soda float, both seemed to agree with Koumoto. Did drinks paid for by the guy you’re making fun of taste better?

”Half of that was a joke. Anyway, since the swimming club sent you as their rep, you guys must’ve figured there’s a difference between sorcerer high schools and plain-folk high schools based on body types, right?”

 ”Guess so.”

”Let me teach you another difference.”

 ”Oh? What’s that?”

The three across from me leaned in, curious.

I paused for effect, then glanced between Koumoto and Hikasa-senpai.

 ”The grade barrier.”

 ”The grade barrier…”

 Hikasa-chan caught on immediately.

In sorcerer society, you only date within your grade. Cross-grade relationships are practically nonexistent. If someone wants to get involved across grades, the older party has to repeat a year or something drastic to make it work. The grade barrier is serious business.

”Congratulations, Koumoto. It’s because you’re not a sorcerer that you could make your feelings come true.”

 ”…Yeah.”

 ”Hehe~”

My underclassman and his classmate looked solemn. You two holding hands under the table or something? Meanwhile, the other underclassman was poking at her soda float with a blank expression, practically fading into the background.

The two lovebirds started getting cozy, completely ignoring Hikasa-chan’s presence—and mine too. Watching this poor girl, who was always looking out for her sister, endure this syrupy atmosphere made me want to gag. I was cleansing my palate with the bitter taste of iced coffee when the café door swung open. The bell attached to it chimed, and a familiar voice rang through the shop.

 ”Minoru! Found you!”

Mitsuki strode over in big, confident steps. She noticed I wasn’t alone but didn’t seem to care. She plopped down next to me and ordered an iced coffee from the master.

 ”What’re you doing here?”

”I saw you from outside. Figured we might as well head home together!”

She rattled off her excuse in one breath, then turned her attention to the three across from us.

”Hikasa sisters, long time. Koumoto, we just saw each other.”

 ”Been a while!”

”Nice to see you again, Onigahara-senpai.”

Mitsuki actually had more history with the Hikasa sisters than I did.

 ”Mitsuki-chan, did you lose weight?”

”Well, yeah. A girlfriend’s gotta meet her man’s standards, right?”

 ”I know what you mean~”

And just like that, it turned into a girls’ chat.

This was gonna take a while…

After almost an hour of listening to Mitsuki and the girls chat, Hikasa-chan took pity on us and suggested that Koumoto and I head out first. When we left the café, I think we were both drained.

”Well then, senpai… catch you later.”

 ”Yeah… see you.”

We parted ways at the station, and I headed home alone.

Mitsuki didn’t get back until an hour and a half after I’d arrived.

”Sorry, sorry! We got way more into it than I expected. Oh, and here’s dinner.”

She handed me what looked like discount bento from the supermarket. I was indignant. Then again, the bento hadn’t done anything wrong. After enjoying my meal, I decided it was time to remind her what “overnight partner” meant—so I stripped her down and gave her a proper “education session” until her firm ass was bright red.

But this demon girl was beyond handling—she welcomed pain as pleasure and reveled in it. In the end, I was the one who caved first. Trying to stay cold to make her reflect seemed pointless, so I eventually accepted her enthusiastic service.

While disciplining my cute childhood friend with my d**k, we spent time rubbing our genitals together—as the man who felt good inside her and the woman who felt good being taken—heightening each other’s pleasure, and drifted off to sleep satisfied. Right before I passed out, I think she asked, “I’m more your type now, right?” and I nodded.

 Summary:

The school exchange event brings New 2 High School visitors to District 13, where Minoru reunites with Koumoto, an underclassman with a lecherous appearance but pure heart. Club tours reveal cultural differences between sorcerer and plain-folk schools, while Koumoto’s relationship with Hikasa-senpai highlights the grade barrier that doesn’t apply to non-sorcerers. The café gathering shifts to a girls’ chat when Mitsuki arrives, and the chapter closes with intimate tension between Minoru and Mitsuki, leaving unresolved whether his nod of affirmation was genuine or exhaustion.

 —

 Trivia:

The “grade barrier” is a rigid social rule in sorcerer society—cross-grade dating is taboo unless the older party repeats a year.

Koumoto is a first-year swimmer and the fastest in his school, yet his appearance makes him look like an NTR villain from adult games.

Mitsuki’s weight loss was supposedly at Minoru’s request, but his internal narration suggests she initiated it herself.

The Hikasa elder sister has been feeding stories about Minoru to Ishimoto, explaining Ishimoto’s high initial好感度.

Swimming club body types differ drastically between sorcery-ruled and sorcery-free competition—fat storage helps in sorcery rules, while lean builds dominate in sorcery-free.

Minoru is currently the fastest sorcery-ruled short-distance backstroke high school boy in all District 13—though the sample size is extremely small.

The Onigahara estate was involved in Mitsuki joining Minoru’s group, though Minoru’s memory of who initiated this is unreliable.

The drama club’s play featured sorcery-powered special effects, including real animals and full combat choreography.

 Translation Notes:

1 “Goodwill meter” or “affection gauge”—a visual novel/game term indicating a character’s favorability toward the protagonist. The English translation conveys the concept, but the source term directly references game mechanics, reinforcing the light novel’s genre-aware humor.

2 Literally: “Better to be the head of a chicken than the tail of a cow.” A classical Japanese proverb equivalent to “Better to be a big fish in a small pond.” The protagonist uses it self-deprecatingly to justify his niche swimming specialty.
