As Aki’s thoughts wandered, Ophis lifted her delicate chin and pointed at the sky. A massive red dragon, so huge it seemed to cover the sky, slowly swam through the heavens. Even the red sky seemed dim compared to its color.
”Great Red…” Before Aki could ask, Sirzechs spoke. “Rare to see him outside the dimensional gap.”
*Whoosh*
A short sound of breaking air. Vali and his Peerage appeared near everyone, following Great Red. He picked up Sirzechs’s words. “That’s not his real body. Just a projection.”
A projection had this much presence… Everyone’s hearts sank. They finally understood why Ophis, strong as she was, needed the Khaos Brigade’s help. Whether returning to the dimensional gap or making the Three Realms like it, someone in the Khaos Brigade shared Ophis’s goal.
Vali finished. His eyes swept over Aki and Ophis. Seeing them almost pressed together, his eyebrow twitched. Even though he’d known Ophis a long time and shared the goal of beating Great Red, she was never this close to him.
”Beating him is my goal.” Suppressing his strange competitive urge, Vali said again. “But just finding him is hard enough.”
Aki shrugged with no intention to respond. Unlike Vali, who grew stronger through fighting, Great Red didn’t attract him as much as Ophis. Both were essentially collections of power with no gender, but like Tachibana Nao, they could choose their own. Ophis currently walked the Three Realms as a loli, but she hadn’t fixed her gender. Compared to the completely impossible Great Red, Ophis fixing as female was much more likely. In the original timeline, Ophis eventually became female — not as a loli, but as a black-haired, big-breasted beauty.
As they talked, everyone still looked at the sky. Even a projection was a rare sight. If not for the fierce battle here breaking space and affecting the dimensional gap, even a power projection of Great Red wouldn’t be visible. But in just tens of seconds, the massive Great Red vanished into the sky again. Space healed. The dimensional gap and reality separated again. His figure naturally disappeared.
With Great Red gone, Ophis had no desire to stay. She turned to Aki. “Sure you won’t come with me? Together, we can definitely beat that guy.”
Aki’s Dual Cultivation ability was known to Ophis. She just didn’t care. Now meeting him, she found it was a rule-level power. Combined with Aki’s current strength, if they Dual Cultivated, their power would skyrocket. Even if Great Red was stronger than Ophis, he was still Dragon God-level. After Dual Cultivation, Ophis and Aki together could definitely beat him.
”Sorry. I can’t just lie down in the dimensional gap yet.” Aki was also regretful, but he refused. “But if you need help, just tell me.”

But though also a Four Great Satans descendant, Vali thought differently. Even if he took back the Demon King position, he’d do it openly, keeping the family honor. To him, Sheba, Creuzerey, and Cattleya didn’t follow the proper conduct of Demon King heirs. Their deaths saddened Vali, but he didn’t want revenge. He just didn’t expect Cattleya to abandon her family honor so thoroughly.
After this incident, Cattleya couldn’t stay with either the new or old Devils. If she didn’t want to disgrace the Leviathan name, she’d have to give up her surname. So far, no Demon King or heir had acted as someone’s dog, betraying their own.
Once Vali left, Sun Wukong and the other Peerage naturally didn’t stay long. But one black-haired, big-breasted catgirl seemed to want to speak several times before leaving. Aki found it strange. Since being released by Koneko, Kuroka’s attention seemed to have shifted from her cute sister to Aki, her brother-in-law. Soon after Ophis left, the battlefield was mostly cleaned. After this, the Old Demon King faction was completely finished. For her contributions, Cattleya got the same treatment as Vali. She couldn’t rebuild her family in the underworld, but Devils wouldn’t hunt her anymore. Naturally, her only place to stay was with Aki.
Aki still had empty Peerage slots, so he made Cattleya his Peerage. Her piece was Knight. Cattleya’s most suitable piece would be Bishop, focusing on Mana, or Queen. But she came late. Only Rook and Knight remained. Compared to Rook, which relied on physical ability, Knight was better.
After completing Cattleya’s Peerage contract, Aki returned to the underworld.
”…Based on Rias Gremory’s Peerage member Uesugi Aki’s achievements and contributions, he is promoted to Special-Class Devil.”
After a quick ceremony, Aki officially received the most honored Devil title below Demon King. If he’d wanted to start a family, Sirzechs would have given him a title and territory. As for the earlier talk of marrying into the family, everyone purposefully forgot.
Rias was the next Gremory heir, but it wasn’t like the family had no one else. Forget her father and brother’s existence — Sirzechs’s son would come of age in a few years. Sona Sitri was similar. If they could get Aki to marry in, great. But Aki grew too fast. Everyone was smart. Some things didn’t need saying. The underworld gave enough respect, so Aki naturally wouldn’t break this understanding.
When Odin and Michael tried to get close, he kept his distance. Michael had enough class. When his gift of a dragon-slaying Holy Sword was refused, he didn’t push. But Odin, the unserious old man, was different. After his gift was refused, he copied Michael. He sent his most capable Valkyrie, Rosswiesse, back to the Human World with Aki. Officially, to promote inter-faction exchange. Actually, an attempted seduction plan.
No one could say anything about it. Aki had Devils, Fallen Angels, and Angels, but no Norse mythology people. Odin’s move looked fine on the surface. Rosswiesse might be rigid and clumsy, but her appearance was top-tier. A sexy, white-haired beauty with a spacey personality. It was… great!

”Rosswiesse, if you don’t want to stay, I can talk to Odin for you.” Rias patted Rosswiesse’s head, comforting her.
Rosswiesse shook her head, sobbing. “No. I don’t hate it here. I just think Odin is too much…”
”I see…” Rias smiled. “Then see this mission as a vacation. You’ve hardly been to the Human World. There’s a lot of fun stuff here.”
”Mm… okay!” Rosswiesse was as easy to cheer up as she was emotional.
Seeing the silver-haired Valkyrie stop crying, Aki relaxed. Truthfully, he was good at dealing with bad women, but simple girls like this — he didn’t know how to approach. Every time he saw this, his rare conscience bothered him.
It seemed Rosswiesse didn’t know Odin’s real intention… Seeing her calm down, Aki thought silently. Make a move? Against a woman like Rosswiesse, whose single life equaled her age and who longed for a partner, Aki was confident he could win in three days. But watching her rub against Rias, he felt a guilt like tricking an innocent girl.
”President Rias. There are things to deal with at President Sona’s place. Could you help Rosswiesse get familiar with the environment?” Aki decided to wait. Let this newcomer to the Human World relax and adapt first.
Rias held Rosswiesse gently and smiled. “Mm. Go ahead.”
”Uh…” Seeing her smile, he subconsciously found it creepy. He felt Rias had something behind her words but couldn’t find fault. “Forget it. No rush. I haven’t been home in a while. I’ll go in a few days…”
”No, no. Go ahead.” Rias emphasized again.
Now Aki was sure. Rias was unhappy he’d been away so long. Too many women, this was the problem. He wouldn’t get killed, but being called out occasionally was inevitable. It wasn’t like he could stop her from being jealous. Even if she willingly shared, she’d get jealous. If she didn’t, that would be the real problem.
Aki rolled his eyes internally. Without a word, he went upstairs to his room. Sure enough, when he didn’t leave, Rias’s powerful aura softened.
After two days at home and two days of hard work, before Aki could visit Sona Sitri, Nimura Ruruko and Bannya came to him. In the Old Demon King battle, they’d deeply realized their weakness. They’d held everyone back. While recovering, the battle scenes replayed in their minds. Sona and the other Student Council girls kept comforting them, but they only looked okay on the surface.
