Chapter 500 Found the Target
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Vali’s group didn’t want to meddle in Aki and Kuroka’s private affairs. But his words annoyed them.
All young geniuses. You’re just a bit ahead. No need to show off.
And Kuroka was strong. But they could manage without her. If she offered, she could leave. But Aki saying this in front of them was too much.
The three frowned.
”Hey, Red Dragon Emperor, we—” Sun Wukong spoke first, impatient.
But Kuroka stopped him. “Sun Wukong. Let me explain.”
She turned to Aki. “Aki, I understand. I’m willing. But I’m not leaving the team yet.” She smiled slightly. “Back then, Vali helped me when I was being hunted. I must repay.”
”Doesn’t matter. I’ll still defeat Great Red without you,” Vali said coldly, turning away.
Ignoring him, she continued. “But don’t worry. We’re different from your family. Usually we live apart. Only gather for missions.”
Unlike traditional Master-Peerage living together to bond, Vali and his Peerage were different. Aki understood.
”You mean from now on, you live with me? Only leave when Vali needs help?”
”Right. Missions aren’t long. I know space transfer. Can come back at night.”
”Okay…” He nodded. He’d been stuck in old thinking.
All Devils and Peerage he’d met had special bonds. That made him think they lived together. Actually, most Devils treated Peerage as normal servants. Vali was special. His Peerage more so.
Forget others. Sun Wukong and Arthur, present right now, weren’t submissive types. Same for Kuroka. That was why she killed her first master and fled.
Explained, Aki softened.
But Vali’s group was still annoyed. Sun Wukong mocked, “You’re the pervert. Not everyone’s like you.”
Aki didn’t mind. “Great Sage is right. You’re a monk. My thoughts are dirty.”
Sounding like an apology. But it annoyed Wukong more.
”I told you, I’m not the legendary Wukong. That’s my ancestor…” Wukong protested.
”Same, same. Inheriting his blood, you’re a true warrior. Future Victorious Fighting Buddha,” Aki said with a grin.
”Tch. I don’t want to be some Fighting Buddha. That’s why I’m here with Vali,” Wukong shot back.
”Right, Arthur. You inherited your ancestor’s name too,” Aki said.
Chatting with Wukong, Aki remembered another historical figure. Arthur Pendragon. Historical fame aside, various adaptations, especially in a certain Nasuverse, were top-tier.
”Mm. Yes,” Arthur said, pushing his glasses. “Problem?”
”No. Just curious why you joined the Khaos Brigade. With your family holy sword, you could revive it many ways.”
”Just find this world too boring,” Arthur replied.
Thought there was gossip. Same as Wukong and Vali. Just seeking excitement.
Vali was a battle maniac. Wukong, descendant of the Great Sage, naturally wanted chaos. Seems this knight king’s descendant did too.
Aki lost interest.
”Speaking of which, was the historical Arthur, your ancestor, male or female?”
Arthur frowned. Confused. “Male. Who said otherwise?”
Not just Arthur. Even Vali, Wukong, and Kuroka stared strangely.
”Uh. Unofficial histories…”
Aki dropped it. This world didn’t have strange rumors. No contact with Nasuverse.
Right. If there were, magic circuits and heroic spirit summoning would be wrecked.
Compared to DxD magic, Nasuverse mages were lacking. Top-level power? Maybe comparable. Lower-level, big gap.
If all-out war continued, the Three Realms would eventually be human-dominated. All mystery hidden. Seeing this decline, Sirzechs united factions for peace. Used Evil Pieces to reincarnate humans.
Not just Nasuverse. Even the Primordial World Aki missed was similar. After wars, supernaturals retreated. Humans became mainstream.
Was that good?
He didn’t think so. Seemingly no threat from supernaturals. But ordinary life didn’t change. Lost survival chance in disasters.
Natural disasters. Tsunamis, tornadoes, earthquakes. With strong supernaturals, these could be prevented.
But different perspectives. Some preferred a normal world.
Bored, his thoughts wandered. Until Kuroka called him.
”Aki, Aki…”
He stopped stroking her. “Ah, sorry. Zoned out.”
”Mnya~” She twisted in his arms. “Time to go back. No Loki remnant today.”
”Hour’s up?”
Looking around, it felt like they hadn’t moved. Time perception hadn’t changed.
The dimensional rift was theoretically infinite. No boundaries, direction, or time flow. But with enough strength or related power, you could sense.
Focusing, he sensed nearly an hour had passed. They were far from the entry point.
While he cuddled Kuroka and zoned out, the other three had been working. Following their will to find the target. Strong will let people return safely. Also the only guide inside.
Whether finding someone or somewhere, maintain strong will while wandering. Approach the target. Easier said than done. Not always successful.
First, how strong must the will be? If too far, no amount helps. Like Vali seeking Great Red. Entered multiple times. Still nothing.
”Go back then. Continue tomorrow,” Aki said.
He was prepared for failure. Improved mood from Kuroka.
She gently licked his neck. “Nya, sure~”
Seeing him ready, Arthur said, “Everyone ready. Returning.”
No matter how long inside, return to the entry point.
Just as the spherical barrier broke through the colorful dimension, Kuroka’s ears twitched. Then her face tensed.
Aki immediately noticed. “What?”
”Felt Loki’s presence…” she said hesitantly.
Time was almost up. Found the target now. Continue, deal with it, and time likely wouldn’t be enough. But give up, and they might not be this lucky again.
The dimensional gap had no space or time. Finding the target depended on so-called will and luck. Without luck, ten or a hundred tries might fail.
”Really? How far?” Aki asked, surprised, then delighted.
Expecting a long war. First try and they found it.
”About six or seven minutes,” Kuroka answered.
She was working to sense it. Purple Mana rose from her. Mixed with nekomata demonic energy and celestial arts.
Aki tried too. Used immortal energy and bloodline power nearing origin. Still worse than Kuroka’s sensitivity. In the rift, he couldn’t sense Loki at all.
Her unique talent. Couldn’t copy.
His eyes flashed. Eager to Dual Cultivate with her.
”But I can hold maybe ten more minutes,” Arthur said seriously. “Recommend we come tomorrow. Lost in the gap, even with Colbrand, we might never return.”
”Arthur, can’t you hold longer?” Aki asked, frustrated.
”I promise under a minute.” Arthur’s expression grew serious. “Full power, I could kill Loki in under a minute. Let alone a remnant.”
”Fifteen minutes. True limit,” Arthur said, glancing at them, annoyed. “Your fault for breaking the barrier.”
Finally, they continued.
Though Vali had motives, with Aki present, they couldn’t act. Solving this early freed them. He could guess their plan. Not his business.
Five minutes in, Kuroka frowned. “It sensed us. Escaping.”
”Unbelievable,” Aki sighed.
Ancient gods like Loki weren’t easy to kill. Even with specific weapons. Called a remnant, but inhabiting remaining consciousness, it was intelligent. Left alone, one day the trickster god might fully revive.
With Colbrand, they were slightly faster. But barely. Chasing the featureless, slime-like humanoid took ten minutes.
Sweat dripped from Arthur’s forehead. “Hurry. Three minutes max.”
Aki looked confused. “Wait. Should be five, no?”
”Returning takes time! And five is max. You know what max means?!” The usually gentle blonde had bulging veins on his forehead. If not weaker, he would have punched someone.
Like exercise, only pushing to failure improves. Everyone knows that. But who drains themselves? It also damages the body. May recover later. But short-term effects remain.
Returning takes time? Entry took seconds. Return two minutes? Liar.
Aki didn’t push.
Good mood from Kuroka. Found the remnant. Left the barrier to avoid breaking it.
Without Colbrand, he could survive the gap.
Feeling the rift’s effect, he concluded.
Dragon God-level was fully immune. He wasn’t there yet. One foot in. That gap prevented him from freely entering. Otherwise, he’d come alone. Spend days searching.
The Loki-scented slime was only Lower God-class. But long in the rift, it had mutated. Home advantage. Boosted.
Also, the remaining consciousness recognized Aki. Avoided fighting. Only stalled.
Their battle made the gap unstable. Even if he killed it, Ragnarok might come.
The more he tried, the less he could go all out.
Arthur said three minutes. But Aki promised one. With seconds left, he got anxious.
”Boom!”
Another clash. Slime scattered. Weaker. But not gone.
Decision time.
This life form needed enough power to erase.
”Hoping the barrier holds…” Muttering, he was covered in red steel armor.
”Balance Breaker? Instant?” Vali, watching, was shocked.
Despite training, he couldn’t match that smoothness. Also found no burden for Aki. Either don’t use Sacred Gear. Or immediately Balance Breaker.
Vali was right. Not just Balance Breaker. Even Juggernaut Drive had no burden.
In Vali’s shock, Aki chanted ancient verses.
[I am the one who awakens as the Heavenly Dragons who stole the principles from God]
[Sneer at infinity, worry about dreams]
[I shall become the Red Dragon Tyrant]
[Sink you into the Crimson Hell!]
[Juggernaut Drive!]
Since killing Azazel, second use. That time, ten seconds nearly killed him.
Now, except the crimson smoke-like Mana, no discomfort.
”No wonder one of thirteen Sacred Gears. Original master only Heavenly Dragon-level. But as a weapon, this power…”
Feeling the immense power, he understood why ten seconds almost trapped him with Ddraig forever. Too strong for him then.
Azazel didn’t expect him to use Juggernaut Drive. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have fallen.
Well, even so, without Rias finishing, Azazel wouldn’t die. Leading Fallen Angels so long, not comparable to regular Demon Kings.
