Fake Survivor 70

Chapter 70

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Because I mentioned that the Magic Armor is a magic item that gains strength, Ferris challenged me to a strength contest.

Of course, I wanted to avoid it…

”Winning or losing doesn’t matter, but if you can make me believe you can handle Iris, I’ll tell Shirley to stay out of it.”

 She added,

”Ah, don’t worry, I’ll hold back so you don’t actually die.”

With that, I decided to go along with this.

Even if I wasn’t recognized, it would only consume magic power, and while it was a hassle, it was just her talking. If there was a chance of being recognized, I thought it might be worth a try.

 ”Alright, let’s go outside.”

Ferris nodded at my answer and went out of the tent.

The other members there seemed to follow her, getting up and urging me with their eyes to go outside.

I thought it would be a low-impact contest, like arm wrestling… but when I followed Ferris outside the tent to confirm, she pointed at my cart.

”You’ll be using the shield and axe, right? You can bring them.”

’The shield is one thing, but the axe too?’

”If it’s not close to real combat, it’s meaningless, right?”

’Umm… But I haven’t heard enough about real battles from Ms. Nina by now.’

”That’s just what we’ve talked about so far. If you’re going deeper, I need to see if you can handle it there. Monsters can come from anywhere in the deeper areas, unlike the 3rd District.”

It seems that, unlike the 3rd District, where the path is clear and you can somewhat predict where the monsters come from, the deeper district is not.

’I understand that, but it will consume the magic power of the armor…’

I don’t have a shortage of magic power, but I want to avoid wasting it as much as possible.

When I replied like that, Ferris looked like she remembered something and asked back.

”Oh… there are things that disappear when you use them up, right? Can’t you refill them with magic stones?”

She probably thought of the “invisibility magic item” I had as “Koji.”

Like that, she seems to think it wouldn’t be good if the armor disappeared too.

Even if she asked me to prepare the same thing, I couldn’t do it, and it’s not something that can be solved with money either.

I think there’s an option to forcefully make her give up, but seeing her consider my situation, it seems she doesn’t intend to do that.

If I say I can’t refill it here, it would mean she has concerns about future dungeon activities, and I might be judged as someone who can’t protect Iris.

So, I decided to tell her that it’s possible to refill the armor with magic stones.

 ’Well, that’s possible.’

”Then I’ll give you some magic stones later. Is that okay?”

Ferris said that and headed toward the entrance of the base.

Hmm… well, if she lets me refill my magic, there shouldn’t be too many problems.

 Still, a strength match, huh…

She said it would be close to a real battle, but it seems like “outside” means outside the base, not just outside the tent.

It looks like she intends to have a kind of exchange that can’t be done in a small space.

She said she would hold back, so I accept the idea of fighting… but I don’t want to use an axe.

She said I could use it, but if I accidentally leave a mark or a serious injury, I would worry about it.

So, I decided to create another weapon in the wooden box and headed outside the base with it.

When I stepped outside the base, Ferris was waiting about 30 meters (≈ 98 feet) away from the entrance, slightly off to the side of the base’s fence.

Ferris pointed with her chin, and we ended up facing the base’s fence in parallel.

Maybe because it’s well-known that people shouldn’t get too close to the “Silver Orchid” base, I could see a few adventurers around, but they were all at a distance.

Everyone seemed to be paying attention to the “Silver Orchid” base, even if they weren’t getting any closer.

 ”…What’s that stick?”

In the midst of this, she noticed me coming out of the base and commented on the fact that my weapon wasn’t an axe.

What I was holding in my right hand as a weapon was a tonfa.

It’s a weapon that looks like a long stick with a shorter stick attached to it vertically. Basically, you hold the short part and use the long part for attacking or defending.

In a real fight, I would hold a shield in my left hand, so I decided to use this since it can be handled with one hand.

Since I usually use high-damage weapons in real combat, I didn’t really need this, and I had only tried it out a little, so I wouldn’t say I could use it well.

However, with this, I could focus on defense, and even if I could counterattack, it would be a strike, so the chance of actually hurting someone would be small.

I had touched Ferris’s body before, and since there’s a chance I might have another opportunity, if there were any scars left, I would feel awkward every time I saw them.

It would also be a problem if she realized I was “Koji.”

Well, I thought I could just avoid that opportunity, but as “Koji,” I didn’t have the ability to resist her strength, so I couldn’t ignore the possibility of being forced into that situation.

So, I chose the tonfa, but it seemed Ferris didn’t know what it was.

Is it something that doesn’t exist in this world?

Since this is a world where real battles are common, there might not be much demand for short-range weapons against monsters or armed humans.

Even if they were made, there would be very few of them. Is that why Ferris didn’t know about them?

For now, let me explain why I decided to use this weapon.

’Um… I thought I could use it more freely than a knife.’

 ”Hmm… well, that’s fine.”

Ferris looked a bit suspicious of my words, but she probably thought that this way, I could use my strength without holding back, so she agreed to start a strength contest.

”Alright then… I’ll let you take a shot first.”

Saying that, she spread her arms wide as if welcoming me.

While her words could be taken in a sexual way, the possibility of being crushed in the middle made it hard to feel any seduction from her confident expression, which showed she could withstand my attack without any problem.

Even though I would be given magic stones later, I had no idea how many there would be.

So, I thought it would be better to finish this with as few attacks and defenses as possible, and I got ready to take her up on her offer, but… I hesitated a bit.

 Where should I aim?

The parts of Ferris’s body I had touched were mostly soft, and since that included most of her torso, it felt difficult to aim there.

That leaves… excluding the head, the arms and legs.

Considering the reach of the tonfa, aiming for the legs would be tough, so I ultimately decided to aim for her arms.

Now, I just need to think about how much strength to use.

The tonfa is made of metal, but I don’t know much else about it.

Since it was made in a hurry, I specified that it should be something that wouldn’t break or bend under strong impact.

This also took quite a bit of magic power… I wonder what material it is made of.

Well, let’s set aside the material for now.

It probably won’t break easily, so I can use enough magic to finish it in one hit, but I also need to show some defensive power, so that wouldn’t be good.

In that case… I’ll make it like the orc flies about 4 or 5 meters (≈ 13-16ft).

They were big, over 2 meters (≈6.56 ft) tall, so if they fly that far, it should show I have some strength.

 ’Um, here I go.’

 ”Go ahead~♪.”

With Ferris expecting a response, I pulled back my right arm, rotated it around the grip, and swung it sideways from the outside.

 ’Hah!’

 *Swish!*

 ”!”

 *Bam! Skrrr!*

Since it was an unknown weapon, Ferris folded her left arm to catch the tonfa, sliding about 50 cm (≈ 19.7 inches) on the grass as her feet dug in.

It felt much heavier than the orc, and the hardness was completely different from when I touched it before.

There didn’t seem to be any change in appearance, but maybe she’s using magic for defense like I am… or she’s something not human.

Ferris has a magic stone inside her, giving her inhuman strength, so I suspect she’s similar to Lunamaria, the dragon I met 5 years ago.

I haven’t asked her, and I feel like it would be troublesome if she got upset, so I won’t bring it up… but it’s better to treat her like that.

While I was thinking this, Ferris returned to her original position, looking at me with suspicion.

”That wasn’t your full power, right? I can’t believe you have enough strength to crush the Gatekeepers.”

 Oh, right.

If that’s the case, then that last hit was too weak.

’Ah, I’m sorry. You just looks so soft from the outside.’

”Well, it can’t be helped. In reality, soft things are soft.”

 *Squish*

Ferris didn’t seem upset with me for holding back. As an example of “soft things,” she lifted her chest.

She spread her arms and let her chest go free, giving me another chance to attack.

”But you understood that it was okay now, right? Come on, try again.”

 ’Got it, then.’

After confirming the feeling with the first hit, I responded and attacked her again, expecting several times the power.

 ”!”

 *Whoosh!*

 ”Ugh!”

 *Boom! Scrape… Thud!*

After taking the second hit, Ferris slid back, scraping the grass just like the first time, but this time she slid much further until she hit the fence of the base.

Since it was a good distance, the impact against the fence wasn’t too strong, but the sight surprised the women watching, and Ms. Luka called out to Ferris.

 ”Ferris! Are you okay!?”

At Ms. Luka’s voice, Ferris relaxed her stance from when she was hit.

 ”Of course I’m okay!”

Since there was some distance between her and Ms. Luka in front of the base, Ferris replied a bit louder and returned to her original position away from the fence.

”For now, I understand about the attack. Next is defense.”

 ’Huh? Oh, okay.’

As soon as she returned, Ferris said that, and I got ready with my shield for the impact.

This shield was made using “Imitation,” modeled after the Magic Armor I had been using on the way here.

If I just treated it as part of the Magic Armor, Ferris would probably wonder why it was so sturdy and infused with magic.

So, this is something I made along with the tonfa, but the material here is made of steel that you can find in regular stores.

It’s not cheap, but it’s not exactly rare either, and it’s stronger than the more common iron ones.

I thought that something like this could be used to crush the Gatekeepers, and that made sense to me.

Now, the Magic Armor consumes a lot of magical power depending on how it moves and the load it takes, and if it stays fixed in one place, it will take all the magical damage from Ferris’s attacks.

It depends on her strength, but I need to let some of the impact escape to reduce the load on the shield and keep the magical power consumption down.

While I was thinking about that, Ferris pulled back her right hand and got into a stance.

 ”Okay, here I go!”

 ’Go ahead!’

 ”…Ha!”

 *Boom!*

 ’…’

With Ferris’s shout, magical power was consumed, but I didn’t move from my spot.

She charged at me with a spinning kick using her left leg, probably aiming for a result similar to my attack.

I couldn’t react with my eyes, but I sensed the distance from the position of the magic stone and immediately got my right hand with the tonfa into a defensive position to block her kick.

I couldn’t escape the impact as planned due to her speed, but in the end, it seemed like I could handle a certain level of offense and defense with the amount of magical power used.

Even though I wasn’t actually attacked, I could withstand the power of Lunamaria, who is a Dragon, for a whole night, so it wasn’t too unexpected.

However, I thought it would be dangerous to rely too much on that, so I was considering different options… But with this, I judged that staying still and letting Ferris’s attack prove my strength would be more effective, so I didn’t move.

 ”Huh…?”

She seemed surprised by the result, and her gaze wandered back and forth between me and her legs with a look as if she were seeing something strange.

Since her legs were still in contact with the tonfa, I caught a glimpse of the base of her leg through the deep slit of her red cheongsam.

It seems like she’s not wearing anything underneath today either. I wonder if she has a similar mindset to Lunamaria in that regard?

If that’s the case… I don’t mind it being visible, but if I keep staring, I’ll probably get scolded.

Just as I was thinking that, Ferris seemed to notice my gaze and lowered her leg with a sly grin.

”Oh, you seem to have some confidence. In that case… shall we continue a bit longer?”

The contest of strength with Ferris continued for another ten minutes, during which I focused solely on defending against her rapid assaults from various directions.
