It was just the 3 of us──me, Rumi, and Nana──when we finished preparing lunch. Just as we were about to eat, Dad Izana and Mom Emma seemed to have finished their conversation and came over to us.
”Welcome back, Rob, Rummie. Did you have fun in the Sphere Kingdom?”
Mom asked with a gentle smile.
”Yeah. I had a great time training with Alice, having tea, and exploring ruins,”
I replied, puffing out my chest a little.
”Hehe. You two have gotten close enough to call each other by name,”
Mom Emma smiled kindly at Rumi and me.
”Oh, here’s a souvenir!”
Rumi said cheerfully as she handed Mom a box of sweets.
It looked like it was called ‘Star-shaped Cookies from the Sphere Kingdom.’
”I bought these because I loved their cute star shape!”
Rumi proudly presented the cookies to Mom.
”Hmm, they have a buttery sweetness, and the toppings are chocolate and colorful sprinkles. They’re crunchy and melt in your mouth. The packaging is in a stylish box; is this the kingdom’s symbol?”
Nana immediately took a bite and eagerly shared her thoughts!
”Rob, Nana, and Rummie, can I have a word?”
Dad looked at us seriously.
”Yeah, what is it?”
I also put on a serious face, following his lead.
”Why are you so serious, Papa?”
Nana innocently replied while munching on a cookie.
”…Is something wrong?”
Rumi looked a bit worried.
”About 3 days ago, a large number of monsters came flying in from the northern demon race country of this land, ‘Altia.’ The swarm of monsters is spreading not just across this country, but throughout the entire ‘Verdia Continent’.”
The ‘Verdia Continent’ is the name of the land where our country ‘Altia’ is located, and there are 2 demon race countries on this continent.
One is the eastern demon race country we visited before.
The second one is the demon race country to the north of ‘Altia.’
In ‘Princess Rave,’ the goal at the beginning was to destroy these two demon race countries on the continent.
”W-What? The whole country!? Is that okay?”
I was surprised because there wasn’t such a large-scale monster invasion event in ‘Princess Rave.’
”Yeah, it’s an unbelievable number, more than ever before, but the monsters themselves are weak. They’re just slightly larger eyeballs with bat-like wings.”
(…Kalarisk. Wasn’t that a scout monster?)
Kalarisk was a weak monster that appeared in ‘Princess Rave.’
It has great detection ability and shoots weak dark attack magic from its eyes.
The fact that they are coming means they are probably trying to scout ‘Altia’s’ military strength.
”I was called to the royal capital, just in case. It’s not mandatory, so I don’t have to go, but I was just discussing it with Emma.”
”Having 2 S-rankers in this small village is overkill,” I said to my dad.
”That’s right. So, Rob, will you protect this village?”
My dad asked me with a serious look.
”…Me? What about Mom?”

I was excited to bring my friends along.

Dad replied with a worried look.
Nana suddenly stood up with a clatter and gulped down her snack! …She was still eating.
”Papa! I want to fight with Brother Rob too! It’ll be a good chance to test out the magic tool I got from my brother!”
Nana said this while pointing her gun at Dad Izana!
…Please don’t do that, it’s dangerous.
”…Emma, what do you think?”
Dad looked at Mom to check with her.
”Well… If it’s under the condition that she’s always with either Rob or Rummie, then I guess it’s okay… Nana, you can’t go off on your own.”
Mom gently warned her.
”Yes! Mama!”
Nana replied cheerfully, her excitement growing.

At night, it was Nana’s turn to sleep in her room.
We laid out 3 futons, with Nana, me, and Rumi lying in a row like a river.
Nana was staring at me intently!
Please stop, it makes me nervous!
”Brother, can’t you sleep?”
Nana asked with a smile.
”I-I’m fine!”
I replied in a hurry.
”…Is it because it’s a new room that you’re feeling nervous? I guess I’ll cuddle up to you to help you relax.”
Saying this, Nana hugged my arm tightly!
(No, no… I don’t think I can sleep until morning!)
Rumi is already snoring softly.
It’s tough because I have memories from my past life, and I can’t see Nana as just a sister!
…Once I started hearing Nana’s breathing, I was finally able to fall asleep.

Early in the morning, when I woke up, I felt heavy. Nana was sleeping on top of me, and Rumi was hugging my legs like a pillow.

Then, Nana started to move around on top of me!

Saying that, Nana wrapped her arms around my waist and hugged me tightly!

After that, my mom came to wake me up, and I was able to get up safely.
Now, it’s morning training time before breakfast.
It’s been a while since I practiced sword fighting with my dad.

Dad pointed to the tree he was going to cut down, then took a stance like he was about to draw his sword, and swung it with a speed that was hard to see!

”That’s how it’s done! Just try to swing as fast as you can!”
”Yes!!”

It was breakfast time, and while we were having a peaceful meal, suddenly, with a force that said he didn’t care about anything else, the village head burst in.

The village head looked at me, Rumi, and Nana, showing a clear look of worry.
Well, it’s understandable to think about what a 9-year-old and a 5-year-old can do…

”Yes, everyone has been training hard, so don’t worry. …This time, it seems Somirkas is also under attack, so please stay in this village even if you feel a bit anxious.”

Dad said that and, without caring that we were watching, kissed Mom and then headed towards the capital.
”Now, let’s start preparing for battle!”
With Mom’s enthusiastic shout, we began to get ready for the fight!
