Chapter 7 School Life
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Hiroya! If you don’t wake up soon, you’re going to be late!”
I can hear my mom yelling from downstairs.
(…Just a little longer… I’m so tired from everything that happened yesterday…)
My almost-awake mind sinks back into sleep.
”Hiroya, how long are you going to sleep? We need to go to school!”
(…Is that Rena’s voice?)
As I think that, I feel something heavy on top of me.
”Ugh!”
The shock wakes me up, and I see Kazumi smiling at my bedside.
”Oh, you woke up. I was enjoying your sleeping face.”
I quickly sit up.
”Finally awake! We need to get ready fast!”
Rena is straddling me on the bed, grinning.
”Have I always been woken up like this?”
I don’t remember…
”This is the first time, okay? We always waited by the front door. I never overslept!”
”Sorry! I guess I was just really tired… I’ll get ready right away!”
I crawl out from under the blanket and get up.
”Hiroya, you finally woke up?”
A maid is standing by my bedside with a washbasin and a towel.
”Come on, hurry and get ready.”
She places the washbasin on the table. Is her name Ms. Stella? She’s the head maid among the few maids here.
I jump off the bed and quickly wash my face with the washbasin.
”Ms. Kazumi, Ms. Rena, thank you for waking young master Hiroya up. Now, let’s wait downstairs.”
Saying that, Stella hands me a cup and a toothbrush.
This person’s doing, huh… Well, being woken up by 2 cute girls is definitely nice, but I feel a bit self-conscious about being seen in such a messy state.

After getting ready, I headed towards the entrance where the two were waiting, and Koichi ran past me to get there first.
””Good morning!””
”Oh, uh, good morning.”
Koichi’s face turned red as he greeted by Kazumi and Rena. Looks like he’s not used to girls.
”Well, see you! Don’t be late!”
Koichi said that and dashed out the door.
”Hiroya! Hurry up!”
Kazumi called out. I threw my backpack on my back and ran to the entrance.

”Your brother is going to the advanced class, right?”
Rena said next to me on my left.
”Advanced class?”
Kazumi asked Rena from my right.
We were holding hands, 3 of us walking to school together. What is this reward? I’m glad I did good deeds in my past life.
”Normally, education in this village is 6 years, but some people go for an additional 3 years of advanced education. Those who are excellent in grades or skilled in swordsmanship or magic, you know.”
”Wow. Your brother is really good, huh, Hiroya?”
”Is he? Well, he seems really into swordsmanship.”
In my memories, he always seemed to look down on me, so I don’t really care about him.
”Still, even though it’s a rural village, it seems like they really focus on education here.”
Putting aside the topic of my brother, it does feel like they put a lot of effort into education for a countryside village.
”That’s because your father became the lord.”
Rena replied to my comment.
”In fact, the population is increasing, and the village is getting bigger. There are also dungeons and forests with monsters nearby, which are perfect for beginner adventurers, so it seems they’re trying to revitalize the village by taking advantage of that.”
”Wow. I heard he was a former adventurer, but my dad really impressive.”
”Of course! After all, he was the swordsman in the hero party that defeated the Demon King over a decade ago.”
””!””
Kazumi and I were really surprised.
”And your mom was one of those heroes too.”
”…That’s amazing. Hiroya, you really are a thoroughbred.”
It seems my cheat was that ‘birthright.’
”Well, it just happened. It just so happens that your parents in the original world were heroes in this world.”
”So Rena helped out your dad and the others a lot too? As a goddess…”
”Actually, the hero party was so skilled that I hardly had a chance to step in. I had almost nothing to do with that Demon King disaster. It was pretty easy for me.”
””…””
”That’s why you guys were able to enjoy so much in your world, right?~♪”
””Hey!””
Kazumi and I both chimed in.

”Good morning!”
”Good morning!”
When we entered the classroom, everyone greeted us.
”Good morning.”
The 3 of us smiled back.
”Oh! The lord’s son is bringing both his wife and mistress. Still acting like he’s in a harem, huh?”
A sturdy boy from my class and a few of his friends were teasing us. No, it felt more like they had some malice behind it.
He was Jan, the son of the guild master from the Adventurer’s Guild.
From what I remember, he was always the annoying guy who picked on me. I think I tried to confront him, but Kazumi and Rena always stopped me.
I stepped forward, but Kazumi pulled my right arm back to hold me back.
”I remember him too, of course. It’s not worth it to engage with someone like that.”
she whispered in my ear.
”Good morning! It’s just that Hiroya is still ‘as cool as ever.’ What? Are you jealous?”
Hey! Rena, why are you provoking him?
”N-No, it’s not like that! …Come on, let’s go?”
He probably didn’t want to mess with a cute girl, so he took his friends and went to the corner of the classroom.
”He’s like the boss of this grade.”
Kazumi whispered softly.
”That’s Jan. He’s the son of the guild master from the adventurer’s guild branch in this village, but he’s rough and bossy,”
Rena whispered back. “He’s such a cocky jerk,” she added.
”Hiroya, don’t get involved with him, okay?”
Kazumi said again, as the 3 of us headed to our seats.
* * *
I didn’t notice yesterday, but Rena’s seat is right behind me. And Kazumi is sitting to my right. Our seats are by the window at the back of the classroom. Looking out the window, I can see a big forest and mountains in the distance. And something that looks like a stone wall being built…?
”That forest is called ‘Goblin Forest.’ It’s where the goblins live.”
Rena told me from behind.
”Are there really goblins? …Now that you mention it, we were told not to go into the forest alone as kids. ──Do they come to this village?”
Kazumi stood up and came to my side to look out the window.
”It’s fine. Since the Demon King is gone, the ‘miasma’ in this world has thinned out, so they aren’t activating randomly. The lord seems to want to surround the village with a stone wall, but… I think the budget is tight.”
Rena also stood up to look out the window.
”That’s probably why they’re thinking of revitalizing the village. If more people come and more adventurers visit, it will become richer economically,” she said.
”I see.”
Right now, if you just look at the center, it seems big enough to be called a ‘town.’
”‘Goblin Forest,’ huh? I want to try that someday.”
”‘We’ are going to challenge it together, the 3 of us.”
Kazumi laughs.
”If it’s just 1 or 2 goblins, Hiroya can handle it now, but if there are a lot, we still have a long way to go.”
Rena says.
”…And I really don’t want to be caught by goblins and have things like that happen to me, even if it means dying──like being turned into a breeding ground…”
Hey, Ms. Kazumi, you’ve been reading too many isekai light novels. And isn’t that R18 content? Also, an 8-year-old girl wouldn’t say stuff like that. I busy myself with these thoughts in my head.
”So let’s get stronger together, okay?”
Is Rena not going to say anything? They’re both cute girls, but their thoughts are way too mature for their age. Well, I guess I’m probably the same way.
Just as I’m having these slightly perverted thoughts, the teacher walks into the classroom. Alright, let’s do our best.
* * *
The class is mainly about geography. This country, the ‘Romuna Kingdom,’ is located in the northern part of the ‘Yugria Continent,’ and is a nation centered around humans.
In the south, there is a large forest where elves and beastmen live in their own villages.
In the mountainous area of the western continent, there is the dwarf nation ‘Bash,’ which is the only nation of demi-humans.
In the eastern part of the continent, there is the ‘Welnia Empire,’ which used to control the eastern coast, but in recent years has lost its power, and the cities within its territory have become independent city-states, managing themselves. It seems that only the capital located in the center of the empire and 5 surrounding cities are directly governed now.
”Now, regarding the territory of the Welnia Empire…”
Miss Maria continues her explanation.
”There is still a strong presence of discrimination and prejudice against demi-humans. Unfortunately, the sl*ve system still exists, and it is a place that requires a lot of caution when visiting. Even though they are independent, the same can be said for the surrounding city-states.”
A few half-elves and beastmen children in the class shiver.
* * *
With math focused on multiplication and a bit more complex reading and writing, our third-year classes ended in the morning. It seems like we’ll have morning classes for a while.
”I’m so hungry!”
”Me too! Let’s go home and eat lunch!”
”See you tomorrow!”
”Hey, hey! Let’s hang out after lunch!”
Everyone chatted as they headed home.
”Good job today! What are we going to do now?”
Kazumi stood up with her backpack.
”I’ll probably practice swordsmanship at your house after lunch, Kazumi.”
”Yeah. My dad said he would come home for lunch, then train you before going back to work.”
Since he works as a guardian knight, his main job is patrolling with soldiers and keeping an eye on the village.
”The village center where my clinic (Rena) is has gotten busier too. They’ve been patrolling to make sure adventurers don’t cause trouble.”
Rena’s clinic is in the center of the village. It’s a bustling area with inns, restaurants, and shops. Of course, there’s also a branch of the adventurer’s guild, and many shops cater to them.
* * *
”I’m happy Hiroya is coming to my house, but… what should I do while we’re training?”
On the way home, Kazumi muttered quietly.
”Then can I go to Kazumi’s house too? Can we practice magic a little bit?”
Rena moved from my left side to Kazumi’s right and linked arms with her.
”That sounds great! Thank you, Rena!”
Kazumi hugged Rena happily. Yeah, the cute friendship between girls is so wonderful.
”Well, since we’re in third year now, I think we’ll start training in life magic at school, but the basics are the same as combat magic, so it’ll be good for review…”
Rena said with a blank expression. “Oh, this goddess is a romance otaku. I hope she doesn’t have a yuri side too.”
Well, after school, it’ll be the 3 of us again. It’s good to have a goal to work hard for in practice.
