Volume 2 Chapter 10 Money Or Time

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Last night, after having breakfast at the beef bowl restaurant that we decided on, I parted ways with Risa-san, who was in her uniform, and headed straight to school.

(I’m definitely going over my food budget this month.)

Even though it’s cheap, one meal still costs a decent amount. For me, who has some free time, cooking at home is the better choice.

I still haven’t completely decided on my shifts for the week after next, so maybe I should increase my part-time job hours…

(By the way, I also have job hunting to think about.)

I still haven’t finished writing the resume that I planned to complete yesterday. I can just write it at school. It looks like I’ll be even busier starting next week.

 (…)

Wait a minute? If I get busier, that’s not good, right? It brings up the question of why I decided to stay at Risa-san’s house in the first place.

If I increase my part-time job hours any more, I’ll definitely miss Risa-san, who spends most of her time at work.

 ”Money or time?”

If it’s for a purpose, I should take the time. Increasing my work hours is a “no.” That means I have to cut down on my usual food expenses even more.

(After work, should I go back to my apartment for a bit?)

Since the cooking tools I expected to find at Risa-san’s house weren’t there, I have no choice but to bring my own. Tonight, Risa-san will be on duty and won’t be home, so it’s a perfect chance to cook secretly.

(All I need is… a pot, a frying pan, and chopsticks. Then salt, sugar, soy sauce, and oil. A petty knife and cutting board can wait for next time.)

With a combination of bean sprouts, canned tuna, and rice, I can manage 3 meals from tonight to tomorrow. Meat is out of the question for a while. Instead, I can choose cheap, high-calorie food when eating out.

On the train to school, I decided on “what I need to do today” and “the meal plan for when Risa-san isn’t home.”

(For now, it’s fine to bring in cooking tools and stuff…)

After finishing work, I returned to my apartment and packed what I needed into my school bag, which only had my pencil case in it. I paused and thought.

There’s a problem with the kitchen space at Risa-san’s house. It’s about “where to put the cooking tools and seasonings.” There’s “that thing” taking up storage space.

I want to look for empty space, but it wouldn’t be right to open and check things without her being there, right?

(The safe place where those items aren’t stored is…)

The refrigerator… is that the only option? Even though I felt something was off, I decided to put the pot and frying pan in the refrigerator.
