Volume 2 Chapter 19 Comparisons

It had been about a week since that huge mistake was discovered.
At first, Risa-san’s phone notifications were in the double digits, but as Wednesday and Thursday came, they seemed to calm down.
Risa-san, who has long work hours, wasn’t able to reply as often as the other person wanted, just like I expected.
It seems that she received messages from that girl showing concern about her busy work schedule, but I can easily imagine that she’s getting frustrated because Risa-san hasn’t replied or has read the messages without responding.
Compared to the beginning, the drastic drop in notifications made it clear to someone like me.
The frequency of messages has decreased, but the content hasn’t changed.
Along with hidden photos of me at my part-time job, it seems like she sends details about our conversations and fun stories almost every day.
Just last night, while I was right in front of her, Risa-san, who was eating in the same room, said, “I might not know as much about Shuu as I do about Banzushima-san,” while looking at the photos I sent her.
When I asked why, she said the messages made it seem like we were having a close conversation.
In reality, we were talking with the owner, the 3 of us.
I explained it right then and there.
It was a very pointless moment.
I feel like I’m being tossed around by that girl.
Why does Risa0san think that a girl who only talks to me for less than an hour about 3 times a week knows me better than a girlfriend who lives with me, sleeps in the same bed, and has a physical relationship with me?
I don’t get it.
If I think about it calmly, it’s obvious, but maybe because of the deeper connection with that girl, Risa-san is getting mentally dragged down.
”I need to do something about this quickly,” I thought.
The next day──
As soon as the bar opened, I came in, sat at the counter, and Banzushima-san ordered a cocktail──a Grasshopper. There were no other customers at this time.
As usual, it was just the 3 of us talking──the owner, Banzushima-san, and me. Today’s topic was about the upcoming event──decorating for Christmas. Soon, people who work in offices would be coming to the bar.
As we were finishing that topic, the conversation suddenly paused.
”Shuu-kun, actually… I have something I’m a bit troubled about, and I want to ask for your advice. It’s okay if you just listen… is that alright?”
”Sure. I finish work at 7, so can we talk after that?”
I was polishing cutlery like knives, spoons, and forks behind the counter when I replied like that.
I also had things I wanted to talk about, like tricking Risa-san into exchanging contact information and the photos of me that were taken without me knowing, so it saved me the trouble of starting the conversation.
I couldn’t bring personal issues into work, so I couldn’t do anything while she was here as a customer. But if she invites me, it’s a different story. It makes it easier for me to take action.
”What’s up? Is it about Mitona-chan? You should probably ask someone with more life experience like me instead of Shuu.”
”Hehe… If I talk to Shuu-kun and it doesn’t get resolved, I might think about asking the owner too.”
I thought the owner was jumping into a minefield, but they were smoothly dodged by the person involved and was indirectly rejected.
”I see. Shuu, if you two want to talk, you can use the back table. It’s busy everywhere on a Friday night, and there’s no quiet place to talk.”
”Thank you. I’ll do that.”
Just like the owner said, every bar is crowded on a Friday night. I wanted to settle things quickly, and if I couldn’t get a table, I was even considering talking in the park or on the street, so I was grateful.
