Chapter 142 Conflict

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”Hiroya!”

 ”Hiroya!”

 ”Big Brother Hiroya!”

 ”Mr. Hiroya!”

 (Oh… everyone is calling me…)

When I opened my eyes, I saw my favorite people.

 ”Finally awake! Good morning, Hiroya.”

”Rena slept with you, but you woke up late, Hiroya.”

”Big Brother Hiroya’s sleeping face was so cute…”

 ”Mr. Hiroya, good morning!”

Liz, Rena, Martina, and Dorothy were all right in front of me.

”…Good morning. What’s up? Why is everyone here?”

 I sat up in bed.

”Kazumi said you didn’t seem well…”

”Rena and the others were a bit worried.”

”Big Brother Hiroya, is something wrong?”

”Mr. Hiroya, if you’re troubled about something…”

 Everyone looked worried.

”No, I’m fine! …I just had some things on my mind…”

 ”?”

”But seeing all your happy faces makes me feel better.”

”Really? Well, our source of energy is… Hiroya’s cheerful smile!”

”That’s right! Being with Big Brother Hiroya makes us happy!”

”If Hiroya isn’t okay, Rena and the others will worry too…”

”Exactly. We would feel down too…”

”Well… also… our source of energy is… a little bit of fun with Hiroya…”

 ”…Just a little bit?”

I know it’s not just a little, but I tease Liz because it’s a tradition.

”Hiroya, are you awake? Everyone, breakfast is ready!”

Kazumi peeked in from the bedroom door.

 ”Kazumi!”

I stopped Kazumi, who was about to head downstairs.

 ”Huh? What?”

 ”Um… thanks.”

”I don’t know what’s bothering you, but… we’re really happy. I want you to know that.”

Liz, Rena, Martina, and Dorothy, who were gathered around the bed, nodded.

 ”Alright! Let’s eat!”

Everyone pulled me out of bed…

”Last night, the Minister of War, Elberhardt, arrived in the village.”

While Ms. Hanna and the Snow Wolf maids were finishing breakfast and having tea, Kazumi spoke up.

”We need to go to the lord’s mansion before noon.”

 ”Should I go too?”

”Yeah. We’re all going. I have some important talks with Ms. Sasha and the lord.”

 Ah, business stuff.

”First, we need to go to the guild. It’s about that underground quest with those lousy adventurers. Gisela and Karin are going too, so we need to give our testimonies.”

 (Gisela, huh…)

I heard a lot this morning, but I guess that’s just how things are.

”Did you know Karin and Gisela live next door, Kazumi?”

 ”Huh? Really?”

”Yeah. This morning, before dawn, I met Gisela in the backyard while training. She was practicing too…”

”Next door, there’s a serious-looking female swordsman and a laid-back female magician, and those 2 are the ones you saved from bandits, huh…”

Kazumi and Rena don’t know their faces.

 ”Yeah, that’s right.”

”Hiroya… did Gisela say something to you?”

Kazumi asked quietly from next to me.

 ”Huh? W-Why?”

”Well… it was after you came back to bed at dawn. You seemed a bit off…”

 ”Haha…”

Ms. Kazumi is as sharp as ever.

* * *

Leaving Ms. Hanna and the Snow Wolf maids to watch over things, we decided to head to the guild first.

 ”Let’s go!”

 ”Did you buy a carriage?”

Rena appeared at the entrance with a 2-horse carriage pulled by Haya and Shiro.

”Since we’re at the edge of the village, it’s tough to shop without a carriage, Hiroya.”

Kazumi stands tall. She probably got a good deal on it. It’s a solid carriage, though.

We all get into the carriage. Rena takes the reins, and the 3 of us──me, Kazumi, and Rena──sit up front. Liz, Martina, and Dorothy hop in the back, and we head towards the village square.

* * *

We arrive at the guild and get out of the carriage.

Since it’s morning, there are lots of adventurers inside.

 ”Hey! Ms. Liz! Mr. Hiroya!”

 ”Ms. Martina! Ms. Dorothy!”

Noriss and Lotta, who were looking at the request board, run over.

 ”Huh? Where’s Garm?”

”Mr. Garm is taking the day off.”

”So, Lotta and I were thinking of going on a gathering quest.”

”That guy… must be nice to take a break… he should work harder…”

Liz mutters, sounding a bit annoyed.

”Are you going on a gathering quest?”

Rena comes back after parking the carriage behind the guild.

”Oh, let me introduce you. This is Rena, one of our party members. She’s the only daughter of Rosen Clinic. And this is Kazumi, the only daughter of Knight Müller.”

”Nice to meet you! I’m Lotta!”

 ”I’m Noriss!”

”Nice to meet you! So, what kind of gathering are you doing?”

Rena looks at the request paper Lotta is holding.

”Oh, it’s out by the edge of the forest…”

As Rena and Kazumi start giving advice to Lotta and the others, I, along with Liz, Martina, and Dorothy, head deeper into the guild to find the Guild Master.

 ”Hey! Liz! Over here!”

The Guild Master calls us from a table in the corner. Karin and Gisela are already seated.

We walk over and take our seats.

”Mr. Hiroya! Oh, um! …Thank you for that time!”

Karin bows her head to me, her face bright red.

”Well… we adventurers help each other out…”

I notice Gisela glaring at me, so I keep my response neutral.

 ”You know…”

Liz steps between Gisela and me, turning to face Gisela.

”I’m not saying I helped you, but is that how you look at someone who helped you?”

Gisela looks surprised by Liz’s words.

”Well, I appreciate the help. It has nothing to do with Mr. Hiroya’s character. I was really grateful at that time. Thank you again.”

Gisela stands up and bows her head.

”What do you mean by Mr. Hiroya’s character? Is there something wrong with such a well-behaved guy?”

Liz leans in closer to Gisela.

”…Isn’t it natural for a woman to be cautious of a guy who flirts with all the party members and has many women around him?”

Gisela looks away from Liz and sits down.

”It’s also natural for a woman to recognize a truly wonderful man, you know?”

”I won’t allow anyone to speak badly about Big Brother Hiroya…”

Dorothy quietly says this, while Martina glares fiercely at Gisela.

”Um… is this Ms. Gisela from next door? Seems like you have a lot of misunderstandings about Hiroya…”

In the tense atmosphere, Kazumi speaks to Gisela.

”You, who only see one side of someone without knowing their true nature, are just a disappointing woman.”

Saying this, Kazumi wraps her arm around mine.

”Don’t bother with her, Liz. She can’t understand our happiness.”

Liz also wraps her arm around mine.

 ”Right♡”

”…I feel sick. Guild Master, can we postpone our meeting to another day? …Let’s go, Karin.”

Gisela stands up and leaves the guild.

”Mr. Hiroya, I’ll come by in the evening. I would like your guidance and help.”

”Ah! G-Gisela! …I-I want to thank you properly next time…”

Karin hurriedly stands up, bows to us, and rushes after Gisela.

”Is she really just asking you to teach her sword fighting? That’s pretty selfish.”

Liz said this with a look of disbelief.

 ”What was that about…”

 The Guild Master looked confused.

”Uh, sorry about that… Let me just explain the situation we ran into…”

”Yeah, but it’s not surprising that Liz is okay with it, but Martina and Dorothy falling for Hiroya makes sense too…”

 ”Haha…”

With a wry smile, I started explaining at the table.
