Since I started taking care of Mr. Hiroya and the others, I’ve been living in this fancy mansion and happily doing housework with 3 cute maids.
We all eat together at the table, following Ms. Kazumi’s wish that “everyone should eat together.”
Tonight, Sir Elberhardt came over with Ms. Karin and Ms. Gisela from next door, so I hurried to prepare more food.
That’s when the conversation at the dinner table happened.
”Oh right! I forgot to introduce her.”
Sir Elberhardt suddenly put his hand on Ms. Karin’s shoulder, who was sitting next to him.
”Introduce? You mean Ms. Karin, right?”
Mr. Hiroya kept eating without even looking at Sir Elberhardt, casually chiming in.
”No, actually, she’s… Shinji’s secret child.”
Everyone at the table, including Mr. Hiroya, burst out. The wolf maids continued eating calmly, but I was so shocked that I even dropped my knife and fork.
”…Well, let’s just say that’s the case for now.”
”That wording! It’s confusing!”
Mr. Hiroya and the others were wiping the table with their napkins. I and the wolf maids hurriedly cleaned up the table too.
”So, what does this mean?”
Rena seemed to regain her composure and brought a spoonful of soup to her mouth.
”…It means she has to hide her identity, right?”
Ms. Kazumi was looking seriously back and forth between Sir Elberhardt and Ms. Karin.

Sir Elberhardt’s teasing expression changed completely.
”…Should we have left the room?”

Recently, the city-state of Gaeltheus was attacked and destroyed by the Welnia Empire after refusing the request from Emperor Magnus Fackler IV to marry Lady Karin.
It is said that the first princess died alongside the king in that battle.
In reality, she escaped with her knight Gisela and is hiding here as an adventurer.
The Romuna Kingdom cannot officially protect her for diplomatic reasons. So, this fact has not been communicated to the higher-ups in the Romuna Kingdom.
To disguise her identity and protect her, Baron Shinji O’Brian will claim her as his illegitimate child in the Royal Capital.
Her alias will be Karina O’Brian. This means she will be the sister of Mr. Hiroya and Mr. Koichi.
Gisela will be her childhood friend Gièze Jäger.
This false information will be spread by the guild tomorrow when they change the name for the adventurer registration.
Lady Karin wishes to continue her life as an adventurer, so Mr. Hiroya and the others will do their best to protect and support her.

Ms. Liz took a sip of wine after the meal.

Lady Karina blushes a little, looking adorable.

”Well, as long as we keep Karin… I mean Karina’s identity a secret, right?”
It’s simple. We just have to stay quiet. From the living room of the dining hall, warmed by the fireplace, I watch Hiroya and Gisela──no, Gièze practicing through the open door.
”…It’s not that simple, Liz.”
The Minister of War’s serious gaze from across the low table is pretty intense.
”Is that so? If we stay quiet, their true identities won’t be revealed, right?”
”Liz, I’m here not as the Minister of War, but as your friend. You can relax.”
”Um… then Mr. Elberhardt, what do you mean by ‘it’s not that simple’?”
Even though it’s starting to snow in the backyard and it’s cold, Hiroya and Gièze are still practicing, steam rising from their bodies.

The Minister of War (Elberhardt) watches the maids bustling around.

”You see, Liz. I always think that ‘it’s too risky for beautiful women like you to be adventurers’.”

”I don’t intend to provoke Hiroya’s anger.”
In response to my comeback, the Minister of War pretends to be dramatically scared.
”The scary ones are ‘men.’ Most of the troubles that beautiful women face come from ‘men with ill intentions,’ Liz.”
”I see. So you want them to be protected from those kinds of people? …Got it. I’ll do my best.”
”…Especially be careful of high-ranking adventurers. Most of them are noble and respectable individuals. However, there are also many who, intoxicated by their power, use it to oppress others.”

The Minister of War glances at me sideways.

I deflect the gaze of the Minister of War and respond with plenty of sarcasm.
