Volume 2 Chapter 24 Sad Decision
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
As night fell, Mama Akari and Karin were guided to the Lord’s Residence.
They were initially really happy to know that Big Sister El was there, but when they found out she was there on an errand from Big Sister Puruun, they sensed something was off.
They quickly became quiet.
In the office, Sir Aaron sat on the long sofa for guests, with Karin next to him, gently wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
Similarly, Mama Akari and Big Sister El sat side by side on another long bench.
”Sir Aaron, what’s about to happen?”
Karin asked, looking puzzled. Sir Aaron replied,
”Melon will read a letter from the Royal Capital’s Secretary Puruun, but don’t worry. I’m here with you… Now, Melon. Go ahead.”
It was a tough job, but I read the letter addressed to Sir Aaron.
”Ugh… sniff…”
Mama Akari let out a silent sob. Big Sister El hugged Mama Akari close.
At first, Karin seemed confused, but seeing Mama Akari like that, she started to understand the situation.
”Um… Sir Aaron, does that mean Dad isn’t coming back?”
”Well, not exactly. It’s not that he has no chance of returning. Everyone in the Royal Capital is working hard to find a solution. But even at the earliest, it might take 5 or ten years.”
”R-right. But he will definitely come back, even if it takes a really long time, right?!”
”I believe that too.”
”Ugh… Sir Aaron!”
With that, Karin’s eyes filled with tears as she clung to Sir Aaron, who gently stroked her back.
On one hand, Mama Akari is groaning, her face buried, not saying a word.
The double whammy of Yuuta possibly not coming back and his affair with the queen is a lot to take in.
It’s easy to imagine how shocked she must be.
Both me and big sis El can only stay close to Mama Akari, offering our support.
After a while, Mama Akari lifts her face and says to Sir Aaron.
”Sir Aaron… Yuuta is… alive, right!?”
”Yeah. It seems like there were a few minutes between him going through the gate and the explosion. I believe he’s definitely okay on the other side.”
”…Yeah. Me too… as long as he’s alive, someday for sure…”
Saying that, Mama Akari buries her face again.
El said we should stay at the mansion until Mama Akari and Karin calm down, and honestly, I was relieved.
Facing the sadness of these two alone would be really tough.
Plus, I’m lying to Karin about the baby… but if Yuuta can’t come back… this baby will be one that never had a dad from the start.
Both me and big sis lost our mom early and lived with our dad in Tokura Village, but then we lost him too, and had to rely on Yuuta and Mama Akari.
But with big sis around, I never felt lonely!! Hang in there, Melon.
I’ve got big sis and El with me.
And Mama Akari and Karin too…
A few days later, it was announced to the main people at the manor that Yuuta wouldn’t be coming back for a while.
They started discussing how to manage things without him and reassessing everyone’s roles.
Our alchemy team, despite some troubles along the way, hadn’t really made much progress, but it was decided that we would return to the Royal Capital after a year as planned.
However, since I was pregnant, I was instructed to stay here for another year to continue research with the people at the manor.
Maybe Sir Aaron put in a good word for me.
But hey, this means I can still hang out with Mama Akari and Karin for a while longer.
Everyone at the manor was worried about Yuuta and was fired up to achieve something amazing before he comes back.
Then, as autumn started to show up, Mama Akari and Karin seemed calm on the surface, and Big Sister El was set to return to the Royal Capital.
Coincidentally, the alchemy team was also heading back, so Big Sister El decided to tag along.
The day before their departure, we wrote a letter to Big Sister Puruun that Big Sister El would take with her.
”Karin, what did you write?”
”It’s a secret from you, Big Sister Melon──what about you?”
”Ugh, you’re such a cheapskate. I just said the baby is doing well and that my return to the Royal Capital is postponed by a year. What about Mama Akari?”
”I guess mine is a secret too… But EllEll, you absolutely can’t show that letter to anyone else. You can’t peek either. Make sure to give it directly to PurPur.”
”Got it. I understand.”
Big Sister El said, carefully putting everyone’s letters into a bag.
That night, Sir Aaron set up a farewell dinner for us, and the alchemy team and I were invited to the Lord’s Residence.
”Hey, by the time Ellulu arrives, there should be some progress in the Royal Capital. Let’s cherish this moment together tonight, believing in tomorrow.”
Sir Aaron said, as some pretty fancy dishes were served for a countryside place.
”Hey, Karin. You’re really good at this. You can use a knife and fork so well with your left hand.”
”Hehe. Sir Aaron, I practice every day. I won’t embarrass you at the dinner party as your proper wife!”
”Ah, I can count on you.”
Karin seems to be having fun, but Mama Akari hasn’t said a word and has just been drinking.
”Ms. Akari, you should eat a little. If you just drink, it’s not good for you.”
Big Sister El looks a bit worried.
”Sorry. Did I make you worry? I’m fine, really. I just feel like drinking today. The drinks here are all fancy and delicious…”
”Ah, drink as much as you want. Even if you get drunk and fall over, I’ll take you home, and you can even stay over if you want.”
”Really? Then I’ll stay too!! Sir Aaron, let’s sleep together!!”
”Hey! It’s still too early for that!”
When I said that, Karin stuck her tongue out at me.
”Haha, Karin. Even for me, I wouldn’t be happy to sleep next to my fiancée if you’re not a bit more grown-up. Let’s wait until you’re a bit older.”
”Okay…”
Then Mama Akari suddenly stood up, but whoa, she’s wobbling a bit.
”Well then. It’s getting late, so Karin, you should go home with your sisters first. I have a private matter to discuss with Sir Aaron, so I’ll be a little late. Oh, and you can skip the bath.”
”Is that so? But Mama Akari, are you okay being that drunk?”
”Don’t worry, Melon. I’ll have the butler take me home later.”
Since Sir Aaron said that, Big Sister El and I took Karin home first, but… I wonder what that private matter is.
Is it something about Yuuta? Maybe she’s going to ask for something? She seemed pretty drunk, but well, she said she’d get home fine, so it should be okay.
However, by the next morning, Mama Akari hadn’t returned before big sister El left for the Royal Capital.
The alchemy team’s carriage was ready to go, and it seemed like El was really torn about leaving.
But according to the butler who came to see her off, it sounded like Mama was still sleeping at the lord’s mansion, so El had no choice but to depart.

The night before Ellulu left the mansion.
”Hey Akari. Here’s some water. I’ve never seen you drink so much before.”
”Haha… Sir Aaron, I’m sorry.”
”You don’t need to apologize. Everyone lets loose sometimes. With everything going on with Yuuta and all, it’s understandable. Just take it easy. If you feel better, I can give you a ride home.”
”Thank you… Sir Aaron. It’s been a while since it’s just been the two of us, hasn’t it? Since that time in the royal castle’s inner palace?”
”Yeah, it’s been a while. Time flies. That baby Karin is already my fiancée now.”
”Speaking of that, Sir Aaron… about the engagement…”
”What? Is that what you want to talk about? Don’t hold back.”
”…Um. Could you please break off the engagement with Karin?”
”What? Why’s that? Even if we can’t see Yuuta’s future, I think it’s better for you to stay close to Karin.”
”That might be true, but… um, Sir Aaron. I want you to break off the engagement with Karin and make me your official wife!”
”Whoa, whoa. What’s gotten into you, Akari? This isn’t like you. Are you drunk?”
”Sure, I’ve had a bit to drink, but I’m in my right mind. Please, can you take care of me in bed from now on? Or do you not want someone like me anymore?”
”No, you’re still very attractive. But I promised Yuuta. With his dark eyes, I can’t just… wait, are you saying you want to switch to me because you can’t see Yuuta’s future?”
”Yes!! …You can take it that way.”
”…Haha. Hahaha. Seriously… fine. If you’re serious about this, then it’s not a problem! Come with me to my bedroom.”
Aaron held Akari close, her body swaying as he led her to his bedroom and onto the bed.
He slowly reached for her blouse, unbuttoning it to reveal her breasts, still firm and lustrous as ever.
”Hmm… Just like the old days. Beautiful…”
Aaron murmured, his mouth close to her nipple as he slowly rolled it with his tongue.
”Ahh!”
Akari’s body jerked in response, but Aaron continued to lick her nipple.
Soon, she seemed to be writhing in pleasure, and Aaron laid her down on the bed.
He slowly moved his hand from her knee up her thigh, lifting her skirt, and noticed a wet spot on her panties.
He slid his finger along the crease, feeling a distinct sensation at the tip.
Then, he slipped his index finger into her panties and tried to insert it into her sensitive spot, but at that moment, Akari stiffened, letting out a soft.
”Ah…”.
”Well, well. Seems like you’re not as ready as you say. Can’t be helped. I’ll just have to suckle on your breasts like the old days in the harem. Maybe that’ll loosen you up…”
Aaron said, and just like before, he began sucking on her breasts.

In the end, Akari didn’t go home that night.
She returned home late the next afternoon, explaining to Karin and the others that she had passed out from drinking and slept until morning.
But this wasn’t the last time she came home late, and soon, rumors started spreading around the mansion about Aaron and Akari.
A month later, Aaron called Akari and Karin to the lord’s mansion and said,
”I’m sorry, Karin. I need to break off our engagement.”
Karin was shocked and confused.
”Why, Sir Aaron? Is it because I’m missing an arm? Or did I do something wrong?”
”No, it’s not your fault. I’ll still take care of you, but… I’m sorry. I want to make Akari my official wife.”
”Akari… Mom? Why are you Mom!!”
”I’m sorry. I can’t lie about my feelings. I’ve liked you, Akari, for a long time.”
”W-What? That’s a lie! Mr. Aaron, you said you care about me… and Mom too… What is this!? Why is my mom taking my fiancé away!? This is just like Big Sister Tomori!!”
”Karin… it’s okay if you don’t understand right now. But, with Yuuta gone, Mom thought this was the best way.”
”What are you saying, you old hag? Just because Dad can’t come back, you flip like this… I can’t believe it. I will never accept you as my mom. I’m done being your daughter!!”
With that, Karin stormed out of the room.
”Was this the right thing to do?”
Aaron asked Akari.
”Yeah. I think Yuuta will understand… eventually, he will too… ugh.”
Akari said, tearing up. Aaron gently pulled her close.
