Chapter 261 Clan’s Bracelet
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After breakfast, Toldo came back while we were getting ready for the ‘Deep Layer Exploration.’ Apparently, he stayed overnight at a brōtḥel.
”Hiroya… this brōtḥel has some pretty nice girls. Honestly, it’s not even worse than the high-end brōtḥels in the Royal Capital.”
”Yeah, yeah.”
”What’s up? You sulking ’cause I didn’t invite you?”
Nah, I don’t need to go to a brōtḥel, okay? I can cuddle with my top-notch lovers anytime.
”Well, next time I’ll make sure to invite you, so don’t be all sulky… Ouch!”
”Grandpa! You can’t just come home in the morning without telling anyone!”
”Seriously! Who do you think you are?”
Toldo’s getting his ears pulled by both Aluda and Meluda.
…Who does he think he is? He’s the best blacksmith in the kingdom, you know, your grandpa…
Even though Toldo is praised as a ‘master craftsman’ in the world, he’s being dragged to the back of the dining hall by Aluda and Meluda, and now he’s bowing down in front of Kazumi, Ms. Hanna, Suu, and Uu…
”If you’re gonna stay out, please make sure to let someone know next time, okay?”
Kazumi’s smiling, but I can feel a hint of murderous intent, you know? Look, even Toldo’s shaking.
”I’m sorry…”
”So, as punishment… could you build a ‘workshop’ in the backyard before we get back from the ‘Great Labyrinth’?”
Kazumi’s grinning.
”No… I need to fix the shop…”
”The shop can wait for a bit.”
”The workshop for Meluda and the others is more important.”
Aluda and Meluda aren’t letting Toldo argue back.
”You can hire people if you want, and of course, we’ll cover the costs. It’s a workshop for your grandkids. Please make it something nice and easy to use that lives up to the name of the master craftsman, Toldo.”
”It’s a punishment… for the grandkids… fine. I’ll get started on it right away…”
(Guess even a renowned master craftsman is weak against his grandkids…)
I’m trying to hold back my laughter as I head to the stable where Haya is, to load up my and Kazumi’s stuff.
* * *
”Are you going to the guild first?”
”Yeah. I wanna check out the new guild building too.”
While tying our stuff to our beloved horses, I chatted with Liz.
”Mr. Toldo came to the village, and I heard new guild staff arrived from the guild headquarters.”
”As part of the Razia Village clan, we gotta greet them, Big Brother Hiroya.”
Dorothy and Martina, who finished getting ready before us, brought out their horses, Kuri and Kuro, from the stable.
”I see… then we should stop by the new guild hall before we leave the village.”
Liz and I finished getting ready and headed to the entrance, each leading Kage and Haya.
* * *
At the entrance, Rena and Asuka were already waiting with their horses.
”Now we just need Aluda and Meluda’s carriage. And Uu’s riding along…”
”Oh, first we’ll greet the guild, then head to the ‘Great Labyrinth.’”
I told Rena what we decided back in the stable.
”Huh? Aren’t we supposed to check in for the labyrinth exploration on-site?”
Asuka tilted her head.
”Well, I wanna see the new guild hall, and it seems the new guild staff just arrived from the Royal Capital. We should greet them, right?”
”I get it now.”
Asuka nodded at Liz’s words.
While we were talking, Kazumi, Ms. Hanna, Suu, and Toldo appeared from the entrance.
”Sorry, everyone. I was just lecturing Toldo a bit…”
A 9-year-old Kazumi lecturing the master craftsman…
Liz and the others looked stunned, while Toldo scratched his head awkwardly behind Kazumi.
Then Aluda showed up on the driver’s seat of the carriage.
”Sorry to keep you waiting!”
”We’re all set over here too!”
”Uu’s riding along too~.”
Aluda stopped the carriage and got down from the driver’s seat, while Meluda and Uu also hopped off the carriage.
”Looks like we’re all set. First, this──.”
Rena pulled out a bunch of silver bracelets.
”These are for the lower-tier group too. Everyone, you gotta wear them properly, okay?”
They’re Clan’s bracelets.
Each of us received one from Rena and put it on our arms.
”I know they’re for emergencies, but… I feel like there’s something else to them.”
I traced the letters ‘Famière’ with my finger and muttered.
”Yeah, I get it, Big Brother Hiroya. It’s that ‘sense of unity,’ right?”
Martina was smiling as she looked at her bracelet.
It reminded me of the ‘cord’ she gave everyone at the ‘Dragon God Festival.’ The feeling we had when all 4 of us wore it together was the same…
”Since everyone in the clan is wearing them… I definitely feel that ‘sense of unity’ Martina mentioned.”
Asuka looked pretty happy too.
”Alright, everyone, take care.”
”Leave the mansion stuff to us!”
Ms. Hanna and Suu waved with smiles.
They had their ‘Clan’s bracelets’ on too.
”I’ll make sure the workshop is all set up. Be careful out there.”
Toldo raised his hand to show off his ‘Clan’s bracelet.’
”Oh, you too!”
”It’d be lonely if just one old guy was left out, you know?”
Toldo winked at Liz, who was teasing him.
”Oh, Toldo’s bracelet has a special trick that sends ‘thunder’ magic through his whole body with my signal.”
”What the heck!”
”Just kidding♡.”
Kazumi stuck her tongue out playfully.
”Young lady Kazumi might actually do something like that, it’s scary…”
Ever since Toldo made that comment about ‘keeping Ms. Hanna as a mistress,’ Kazumi’s been pretty tough on him.
Well, he brought it on himself.
Waved off by Ms. Hanna, Suu, and Toldo, we set off towards the new guild hall for now.
* * *
”Didn’t think much of it while it was being built, but… it’s really big once it’s done, huh?”
Liz looks up at the building of the adventurer guild, Raetia branch.
It’s a beautiful 3-story white building.
Feels bigger than our clan house.
Right across the street from the hall, there’s a stable wide enough to tie up 20 horses.
We tied our carriage and horses there, then opened the big double doors of the new guild.
Since it’s only been a few days since the announcement of the ‘Raetia Great Labyrinth’ opening, there aren’t many adventurers around yet.
In about ten days, it’ll probably be bustling with people coming from all over.
The first floor is one big open space, pretty spacious.
At the counter in the back, besides Miyori, there are 2 unfamiliar-looking guild staff women.
Just as I was about to head over there, a group of adventurers at a corner table approached us.
”Hey! Ms. Liz!”
”Oh, Frieda! You guys heading to the ‘Great Labyrinth’ too?”
Leading the 8-member adventure party, with a hand raised, was…
someone from ‘Rose Hip,’ right? I think I saw her when I first met Simona in Goblin Forest.
”We’re waiting for our 2 porters to get ready, then we’ll head out. Are you and the others going to the ‘Great Labyrinth’ too?”
With her distinctive black semi-long hair, dyed red on both sides, and black eyes, she’s quite a beauty, probably of Eastern descent, shaking hands with Liz.
”We’re starting from the Third Floor, though──everyone, this is Frieda. She’s the sub-leader of ‘Rose Hip.’”
”I’m Frieda Hayate Ashkenhart. Nice to meet you. ──Ms. Kazumi, thank you for your help back then. And I’m sorry for the trouble…”
Frieda politely bows her head towards Kazumi.
”Let’s skip the formalities. We’re like sister clans, ‘Famière’ and ‘Rose Hip,’ sharing the same ideals.”
Kazumi takes Frieda’s right hand with both of hers and shakes it up and down.
While this is going on, a woman from ‘Rose Hip’ approaches me.
”Mr. Hiroya, and Ms. Dorothy. I… I’m Laura Strout. I owe you guys a lot, but I haven’t been able to thank you until now…”
””Eh?””
Dorothy and I exchange glances.
Who? I don’t remember her at all.
