Volume 1 Chapter 22 The Arrival Of The Spartan Tutor!!

”Oh, we got off track there. So, basic jobs (birth) are settled, right? Next up is the race-specific jobs (race jobs). These are jobs passed down among various races, except for Majins and Ghosts. In order, they are:

 - True Demon: Elementalist

 - Black Dragon: Dragon Warrior

 - Asura: Swordmaster

 - Garuda: Beast Fighter

 - Dream Demon: Assassin

 - Rakshasa: Warlock

These jobs can only be obtained by members of their respective races, so you, as a Majin, can’t get them. They’re higher-tier jobs, so they have high bonuses, but it’s a shame for you.”

”Hmm, no race-specific jobs for Majin? That’s discrimination!!”

”Hey, don’t be disappointed! I have good news for you! This is important! Normal jobs (regular jobs) are what really matter. ‘Normal jobs’ are divided into two categories:

General Jobs: Jobs that don’t engage in combat.

 - Maid

 - Stone Mason

 - Farmer

 - Blacksmith

 - Waitress

 - Secretary

 - Architect

These jobs have weaker ability bonuses but can give useful skills.

Combat Jobs: Jobs that engage in combat. They determine most of your abilities.

 - Warrior

 - Swordsman

 - Scout

 - Hunter

 - Gunslinger

 - Magician

 - Healer

Of course, there are higher-tier jobs, but I’ll skip those for now. I wouldn’t recommend fighting monsters without a combat job, as it’s basically a suicide mission. But if you want to try it, go ahead—for elder sister’s sake too.”

Wow, that was a bit harsh.

I need to keep combat jobs in mind.

Seriously, I really don’t want to fight that mantis (Silver Mantis) again, but in this unpredictable world (Grimoire), having a combat job is essential.

”Next is Job Level. You gain experience points by taking on jobs and performing related tasks, actions, combat, or using magic. When you accumulate enough experience, you level up and get one skill point. At certain job levels, you may unlock skills. This is where your ‘red color’ really comes in handy!

The maximum job level is 100 for all jobs except for the basic ones (the ones you start with). So, if you keep working hard, you could break into the top 3 in this world. Well, the short lifespan of a Majin is a bit of a drawback, though.”

”But that’s just a possibility, right?”

”Yeah, but even with ‘red color,’ if you don’t put in the effort, you’ll be below ‘black color.’.”

 Well, I’ll do my best.

Even if I can’t make it to the top 3, I want to be strong enough to stand next to Milly.

”Lastly, there are skills. These are divided into three main categories:

 - Modifier Skills: Boost abilities

 - Combat Skills: Fighting techniques and magic

 - General Skills: Everything else

Each skill has its own unlocking conditions, and even if you unlock them, they won’t activate unless you enable them.”

 ”I tried it yesterday.”

Lina activates the [Person Identification] skill and looks at me.

”Ugh! Why did you take [Floor Technique I]? Skills aren’t a game! With your skill setup, you don’t need [Floor Technique I]! If you keep picking up every skill, no matter how many skill points you have, you’ll run out. The higher the skill level, the more skill points it costs.”

Sorry, I didn’t mean to take [Floor Technique I].

”Well, that’s about it. If it weren’t for you, I could talk about jobs and skills for days.”

That’s harsh; she really doesn’t like me.

It seems that this quirky girl with spontaneous fireball syndrome isn’t impressed by the [Handsome Guy] skill.

”Lastly, are there any jobs or skills that you definitely should acquire?”

Lina furrows her brow and thinks deeply.

”You’re asking a tough question. Well, the best jobs are probably ‘Warrior’ or ‘Magician.’ It might be better to prioritize support skills.”

I was surprised that Lina answered so seriously.

She seems like a good person at heart.

”Alright, with this, I can get close to elder sister Milly… Mmmph!”

Lina, your desires are spilling out.

 The log automatically expanded.

 ──Job Level Up: Citizen LV5 → LV10.

 ──Acquired 5 Skill Points.

My job level went up thanks to Lina’s lesson.

I hesitated, but since I couldn’t allocate points to the [Document Creation I] skill the day before, I decided to use my points to activate it.

Then, a message appeared saying, ‘Starting language replacement,’ and part of the text in the book on the table changed to hiragana.

Some characters remained in romaji, but the text became much easier to read.

And surprisingly, I discovered that if I wrote in hiragana, it would automatically convert to Western characters.

The [Document Creation] skill is really useful…

I need to activate the higher-level skills as soon as they’re unlocked.

Knock knock! Just as I was finishing up, Annabella came to tell me that dinner was ready.

Oh, is it already dinner time? I started in the early afternoon, but that went by quickly.

It seems Lina will be joining us for dinner today.

”Thank you, Lina. You really helped me out today.”

”I did it because I can give elder sister that (God’s Hand Massage). You should be grateful. Alright, let’s go, elder sister!”

Ignoring me, Lina pulled Milly along and headed out.

She seems really excited about some skinship with Milly after dinner.

However, this was just the beginning of a greater tragedy.

You having a broken link there. ‘Prev’ button lead to v1c21 instead of v1c22 (reminder this is v1c22-2).

    P. S. Why you chose on ToC, for this and 18, first chapter to be -2 and next chapter normal one (-1 if it was used like that)? I mean why?

Medium-long chapters will be split. Thank you.

I question not “why chapters were split?” (this not new and understandable) but how the links on ToC works.
        It goes like this:
        17
        18-2
        18
        19
        20
        21
        22-2
        22
        23
Unusually for part 2 to be before part 1. Contr-intuitive.
