Volume 2 Chapter 31 The Strategy To Open The Locked Room
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”So we’re going to open the unopening room. This is a room where magic items and magically enhanced weapons and armor are stored, but the magic elements leaking from them have become too dense. We haven’t even aired it out for a while.”
I had gathered with Giuliana, who had come back carrying luggage, and the other members to liberate the guest rooms that had been turned into a warehouse, as well as the game room that had also been turned into a warehouse.
And the room that Milly just informed me about is the planned location for the Red Valkyrie’s office, which is the game room.
”If it has become an unopening room, we have to air it out even more. Is there anything inside that can be disposed of?”
”About that, I need to ask Mr. Golerg… Ah, it seems he’s here.”
”Hey, Little Lady Milly and Kent. Are you trying to pull me out again for appraisal? Well, I did earn quite a bit last time.”
Golerg responded with his usual tough, bald head and rough face.
His face is quite intimidating, but in reality, he’s a very caring craftsman.
”This time it’s just magic tools and magically enhanced weapons and armor, but I can’t remember what we’ve stored at all, so I want you to separate the dangerous stuff from what can be sold on the market like last time.”
”Got it, I’ll take the items that caught my interest as my consulting fee, is that okay?”
”Sure, I’m always grateful to Mr. Golerg, so I can offer you that much as a favor.”
”Alright, the deal is set. Now, let’s open the door.”
It seems that a deal was struck between Milly and Golerg, and everyone gathered in the game room.
”Okay, I’ll open the door.”
*Creak*
As expected, the room was filled with weapons emitting strange lights, armor with unidentifiable protrusions flashing intermittently, and various magic tools whose uses were unclear scattered around.
There was some noise coming from inside the room.
*Rustle!*
*Rustle rustle!*
I could hear uncomfortable, ominous footsteps.
I recognized this sound.
It’s that thing.
I squinted and peered into the dimly lit room.
There it was.
And it was huge.
The situation I had feared was now a reality.
I should have read the signs regarding the concentration of magic elements, but it was too late.
Right now, I have no choice but to defeat the black demon (cockroach).
”Kyaaaaa! A-Annabella! The black demon is ahhh, phew!”
*Thud*
Crap.
Milly, the main force of the party, suddenly fainted.
”Me too, I can’t do it. After this, you handle it, Kent.”
”I want to help Mr. Kent too, but I can’t fight against that.”
”I have to take care of my fur.”
Furthermore, Lina, Lana, and even Talia are fleeing from the enemy.
”Hehehe, Lord Kent. This is my time to sharpen my blade in my room, so…”
Aurelia seems to have lost her fighting spirit.
What a terrifying black demon!
To make 5 people retreat without a fight.
”The ones left are Annabella, Feria, Ines, Manon, Beatrice, Giuliana, and me.”
I picked up a nearby sword and faced the black demons.
”Annabella, how do they move?”
”Based on my experience, they will likely try to hide first, but we can’t rule out the possibility they’ll try to jump in from behind. Currently, everyone except Ms. Giuliana has no defense, so we should have her take the hits and then launch a simultaneous attack.”
”Can Giuliana handle it?”
”I’ll handle it. I’ll do anything for Kent.”
With that, Giuliana readied her battle axe and charged at the 3 black demons.
”Kent, you can all use the weapons around here.”
Golerg had lined up the weapons that were in the room.
”Alright, everyone support Giuliana with these weapons.”
”Understood!”
”This dagger is good for this Bea.”
”Then I’ll use a sword.”
”I’ll take this… What? Throwing weapon?”
Each person chose their weapon.
A massive figure, shining black, moves at an unbelievable speed.
*Whoosh!*
Tch, fast.
The name “Black Demon” (cockroach) isn’t just for show.
Its glossy black body darted across with an impossible speed.
”Feria! It went that way!”
*Vwooouun*
”Huh? It flew. It really flew! Mr. Kent”
To have the ability to fly, it’s not someone to be underestimated.
But in the end, it’s just a cockroach; I’ll just squash it.
”Lord Kent, the one on the right looks like it’s about to die. Please finish it off.”
The black demon that Giuliana struck with her greatsword was writhing on the ground while magic elements were spilling from its back.
I dealt the finishing blow to what seemed like its vital point.
It struggled for a while, but eventually stopped moving and disappeared in a cloud of black mist.
What remained were cockroach legs and the body of the cockroach.
”One down. Now, just 2 more. Bring it on!”
I might have been feeling a bit too pumped up from the fight with the black demon (cockroach).
”I will thoroughly exterminate the black demons (cockroaches) that invade my home.”
Annabella also seemed a bit off, her hostility towards the black demons (cockroaches) burning bright.
Beatrice was toying with one of the black demons (cockroaches) along with Manon.
Seeing the two of them, reminiscent of children, plucking off a leg or tearing off an antenna, made me calm down just a little.
”Beatrice, that’s gross, hurry up and take care of that black demon (cockroach).”
”Aww, Bea still want to play with it.”
”Not allowed.”
At my firm response, Beatrice reluctantly delivered the finishing blow.
The last one was chopped to bits by Annabella and disappeared.
”Phew, we managed to clean it up somehow. But the fact that it got that huge means the magic element density in this room must have been pretty high.”
”By opening the window and letting in some air, the magic element will be released into the atmosphere, so I think we can prevent the black demons (cockroaches) from making a comeback.”
”It turned into an unexpected fight, but somehow we came out without any injuries, although a few did retreat from battle. We successfully defeated the black demons (cockroaches).”
And so, the item appraisal by Golerg began.
”Oho, this is an interesting weapon, a sword with a magic gun built into it. I guess we could call it a sword gun. And this ground-shaking hammer is also a unique weapon. Wouldn’t it be just right for that ogre girl over there?”
”Me? This greatsword is called Aruga.”
Seeing the hammer presented to Golerg, Giuliana showed her greatsword and replied.
”This ground-shaking hammer is an interesting weapon; it can create localized fissures when you hit the ground. The stronger the force of the hit, the bigger the fissure becomes. With your strength as an ogre, you could probably create a fissure big enough to swallow a small monster.”
”I see, then I’ll take your advice and Equip that.”
Giuliana received the hammer and began to practice swinging it.
”Be careful, do it outside, Giuliana.”
”Sorry about that.”
Giuliana said she wanted to test the giant hammer and went outside.
It seems Beatrice also reached her limit of patience, and she said she would join Giuliana’s experiment and left.
”The weapons and armor are done. Now, it’s just these trashy magic items that collectors might buy. If I take these over to some shop like Vittoria’s, they might give me a decent price for them.”
Golerg gathered the scattered weapons and armor and sorted out the dangerous items from those suitable for the market.
And the weapons and armor deemed dangerous had black, misty particles──magic elements──leaking out, lined up as if they were definitely cursed, eerie Equipment.
”Please tell Little Lady Milly to store the dangerous items in the vault. Especially this crazy Warrior’s axe; once you equip that, you’ll keep fighting until you perish. Also, this Death-Dealing Armor has high defense but will constantly drain your HP, eventually leading to death. Other equipment has similar troublesome effects, so they would be problematic if they hit the market.”
The dangerous items Golerg sorted out were all truly perilous Equipment.
I felt a bit of fear at Milly’s carelessness for shoving such Equipment into her room without a second thought.
Most of the items that can be sold in this market are weapons and armor that have been enhanced with some form of magical infusion, so they would sell for a decent price.
Roughly, I think we’d be looking at about 20 to 30 gold coins.
I’d be willing to buy them for 25 gold coins.
Since Milly is still unconscious from the fight with the black demon, I turned my gaze to Annabella, who manages the Blackdagger family finances.
”Feel free to proceed, Sir Kent. I believe the buying price from Sir Golerg is fair.
Since Annabella deemed it reasonable, I asked Golerg to make the purchase.
”I’ll transfer the funds to the Guild’s account later. I don’t actually carry around that much money myself.”
”In that case, I’ll ask for the transfer to this account.”
Since I made the final decision, I left the administrative tasks to Annabella, while Ines, Feria, and Manon started cleaning the room.
I opened the windows to let the wind in and expel the accumulated magic element.
Originally, it was a game room, but it seems they stripped everything out when turning it into a warehouse, leaving the room in a state with not even a single desk.
So, we brought in a sofa set and a table that were in reserve at the main building, along with a desk for office work, managing to at least set up the Hunting Group’s office properly.
”Ugh, I’m so tired. I wonder where everyone went. The ones who dropped out of the front lines only Milly came back to life; I haven’t seen anyone else, and Giuliana said she would check the weapons she received but hasn’t come back with Beatrice. The only ones still working are the 3 from the Maid group, Manon, and Milly, which is quite a pathetic situation.”
Well, there’s no point in waiting for those who aren’t coming back.
I had almost reached a state of resignation.
After a while, Giuliana returned with a smirk on her face.
”Gigi’s weapon is amazing, it cracked the ground open, and then it closed up again after a while. Isn’t that incredible?”
I don’t quite understand what Beatrice’s explanation about what’s so amazing, but it seems to be something great anyway.
”Giuliana, I’m glad for you.”
”I’m going to cherish this weapon.”
I wonder if Giuliana is a weapon enthusiast like Aurelia; she was nuzzling the hammer as if she were going to kiss it.
Since Giuliana had returned, I had her sit at the desk of the Hunting Group leader set up in the recreation room, which serves as the office space for the Hunting Group.
She insisted that she didn’t want to do paperwork, so I promised to assign her a girl who seemed good at clerical work from the newly participating Red Valkyries to assist her, and that convinced her.
After that, we started moving Milly’s clothes and underwear out of the room next door to turn the game room into Giuliana’s personal space.
Along the way, I scolded Beatrice for playing around with Milly’s sexy underwear on her head, but Ines, Feria, and even Giuliana began to show interest in Milly’s collection, and a cheerful Milly started giving a lecture on sexy underwear.
”This is what I call ‘The Way of Sexy Lingerie.’ The essence is to show what you usually don’t show. Look at this pair of shorts; it has no fabric where it usually would, so everything is completely visible!”
”With this, as Lord Kent’s s*x sl*ve, I could be penetrated anytime, anywhere!”
Giuliana looked at the shorts Milly had and seemed to understand something.
”If I wore something like this bra, my breasts might get all perked up and become even bigger!”
Ines, holding an open-top bra and blushing, acknowledged that wearing that kind of bra could indeed enhance the cleavage effect and boost the cup size.
”But Mr. Kent would surely get more excited about these thong panties; look, they completely expose my backside!”
Well, I certainly can’t deny that, Ms. Feria.
”Next time, how about bringing everyone to my favorite lingerie store and let Kent see various things? We could even reserve the whole shop!”
Ms. Milly, we’re quite busy with various things; we don’t have time for such sexy events…
”I thought so, but I’m too busy to do that. Let’s plan it again when I have some free time.”
That’s true, right?
If they had said to go ahead with it, I think I wouldn’t have been able to refuse.
I’m really grateful they canceled it.
With that, I somehow managed to prevent the emergence of an indecent event, and I finished tidying up the private room.
”This is Giuliana’s private room. It’s convenient since you can enter directly from the office.”
”If Lord Kent showed any interest, I could pull you right in. That’s the intention behind this arrangement, isn’t it?”
Giuliana seems to think that I said that seriously and arranged the room next door so she could get right to it if needed.
I hadn’t thought that far, but if that’s what you’re saying, I realized it could be done, so I thought it might be good to try it next time.
Thus, the operation to free the locked room, which started with the black demon (cockroach), resulted in significant casualties, but somehow I was able to complete it.
