Volume 2 Chapter 22 Invitation To Izerland Fortress (From The Border Princess) I
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
It was a lofty letter likely written by a ghostwriter, filled with lengthy details, but in short, it was a request for Kian to have bodyguards starting today at noon.
”Noon?”
Kian looked up from the letter.
”That’s cutting it close, isn’t it? The meeting place is at the entrance of the western street market, and if I don’t leave right now, I won’t make it in time.”
”Then you have no choice but to hurry, right?”
The pink-haired receptionist was half-heartedly responding while furiously scribbling on the documents Kian had handed over earlier.
Even though she just said the procedure was complete, it clearly wasn’t.
”I’ve entrusted the documents to you. Well then, I’ll take my leave now.”
”Aye, aye!”
Miruru waved her hand energetically.
Kian returned a slight bow to the careless new receptionist and turned on his heel away from the counter.
And then, from the far end of the hall, he heard a familiar, assertive woman’s voice resonating.
”──So, I’m sorry! Just get out of my way!”
(What the…?)
Turning his gaze to the corner area diagonally across the hall, he saw a hooded, slender figure surrounded by several large adventurers.
The hooded woman?
let out a vibrant soprano.
”I only bumped into you a little! Why are you so angry!”
”Oh? Because you bumped into me, my lunch was ruined!”
The armor of the bald adventurer with blue veins on his forehead was covered in what appeared to be the remains of junk food sold at food stalls.
It seems like the sauce got in between the armor, making it difficult to clean.
It seems they had an unfortunate collision.
Given the circumstances, it seems likely that what hit him was the large stick held by the hooded woman.
It’s a magician’s staff that looks like it cost a lot of money.
She’s a female magician──and at least a proper magician, not just a half-assed one like Franciska.
The hooded woman was not even a step frightened by the men with their intimidating faces, and glared back at them with a defiant face.
”What!”
Swoosh!
The robe sways wildly.
The luxurious-looking outfit for a magician ── which at first glance resembles a deep blue dress ── had a very ample bust.
Female magicians often use their looks and words as weapons, so it’s common for them to dress like that.
Long black hair.
Straight-cut bangs.
A beauty with a tear mole under her eye.
Her beauty was among the top tier of female magicians that Kian had ever encountered.
An otherworldly beautiful girl.
If she were to lean seductively and whisper sweetly, there wouldn’t be a man who could resist.
However, it seemed she was using her weapon incorrectly, staring at them with a haughty, cheeky expression.
At this rate, rather than enchanting them, she’d only be stirring up their sadistic impulses.
”Ah, could that girl be…”
With her imposing voice, Kian felt the memories from the other day flooding back.
(Ms. Christy?)
The blonde girl in a mask ── the female magician who had blended in with Maribel during the Lower-rank adventurer promotion exam.
She was a stereotypical genius-looking beauty, and she seemed eager to leave throughout the exam.
He vividly recalled her being slapped on the cheek by Oswald before the exam started.
(I see, Christina Famille was her name)
Kian glanced at the scroll in his hand and quickly walked toward the corner of the hall.
”I said, let me go already! If you don’t stop, I’ll blast you away with magic!”
”Ahhh!? What are you saying, you little brat!? I’m gonna rape you, come on!?”
”──Wait, wait…”
Slipping through the group of scruffy men, Kian slipped in front of the black-haired magician, Christy.
”It seems that my friend did something rude. I’ll apologize with you, so can you forgive her?”
”Oh? I thought, ‘Who is it,’ but it’s you, garbage scavenger! Get out of the way! I don’t need you!”
”────”
”Heh heh heh. That’s perfect. I was pissed. Come outside. Then I’ll r*pe that little brat too!”
”Hah, go ahead and try if you can! I definitely won’t lose to the likes of you guys!”
(Why won’t this girl just apologize normally?)
’Kian, she’s totally planning to use you as a shield and blast magic from behind. Be careful, that woman is planning to blow you all away in one go.’
(I won’t let that happen. We will resolve this peacefully)
”Hey, you!”
One of the adventurers surrounding them lunged at Kian.
In the back, Christy could be heard stepping and beginning to chant magic.
Kian deflected the man’s arm and turned to the guy who had been punching at him.
”──────!?!?”
”Pull back your fist”
”──────, ────────”
”You too. Pull back. Don’t attack me.”
”…, okay…”
The two men in front, looking dazed, lowered their raised fists.
The adventurer who had his fist deflected by Kian widened his eyes in surprise.
”W-Wait, what happened to you guys──”
”Let’s resolve this through discussion. Peacefully.”
”…, ah, yeah… that’s right.”
”You all saw nothing here. You didn’t bump into anyone.”
Kian wiped the sauce off the armor of the man in front of him with a handkerchief.
He felt sorry for him and had to do something for him.
”It’s not good to cause trouble in the Guild. Get out of here right now.”
”…Yeah, you’re right, ‘garbage scavenger’” “What were we so mad about?” “I don’t know. Anyway…let’s go outside and think about it.”
”That’s good.”
Kian hunched over and watched the group of men leave in a line to the entrance of the Adventurer’s Guild, muttering softly.
The charm effect will last for a while.
At least until they fall asleep tonight.
It is unlikely that they will suddenly come to their senses and attack again.
…It was worth practicing even wearing ‘glasses’ at night.
’What, you’re not absorbing their energy (ki)’
(Their magic power is about 5 buckets. It’s not worth risking death by absorbing that much now.)
”Eh…? Huh? Huh? Wait a minute, what did you just do?”
Christy, who interrupted the incantation from behind, approached with a fierce look.
Her hood came off, revealing her lustrous black hair, and a pleasant fragrance reminiscent of roses wafted in the air.
It’s an ‘artificially pleasant fragrance’ that Aliona seems to be using.
She looks like she’s around 17 or 18, but it seems she’s properly conducting herself as a lady.
”I didn’t do anything in particular. I just politely asked them to leave.”
Kian quietly replied while putting away a dirty handkerchief.
”Huh? That’s not possible! They were so angry! They had no intention of backing down until they beat us up!”
”Well, even if you say that,”
Kian shrugged his shoulders.
”As you can see, they seem to have mercifully held back their fists.”
”────! …I-I see… You don’t seem to be wearing any enhancement charms either.”
Christy was about to say that when her eyes fell on the ‘Windsong Blade’ on Kian’s back.
”I wonder if I saw a sword like that before?”
”No, I won it in a bet.”
”I can feel a strong magic power. It’s a magic sword made from monster materials, right? It looks like it might cost more than the lives of 20 people.”
”Hahaha.”
Kian laughed and thrust a scroll at her.
”By the way, I just received this at the reception. Is there anything I can help you with?”
”────! That’s it!”
”What?”
”So, it’s your fault! You never showed up to the meeting place, so I had to go and pick you up! And now I’m getting harassed by some weird people. …Haa…! Come on, hurry up!”
”Um…, where to?”
”Just go with me!”
Christy said, pulling Kian’s arm.
”Manon’s waiting outside! We have to get back quickly! I hope those guys haven’t gotten involved with her…”
