Mr. George returned to Okinawa, but Ms. Claudel and I are staying here at the Nevada base, living with Sheena.
Until we can attempt a return through the gate, I will help Dr. Mathius with his research, and in case a gate’s occurrence is confirmed somewhere, the 3 of us will need to rush there, which requires cooperation from the U.S. military.
Then, just as Ms. Claudel and I were approaching a year here, we received a message from Mr. George stating that we could now conduct meetings online from anywhere in the world, and that he is considering moving us to Japan.
Since we left without a proper farewell to our parents or Tomori, I actually find that more convenient, but it seems they’ve decided to make the facility built on the site of my and Ms. Akari’s home the headquarters for AWC, and preparations are underway.
Furthermore, if after it becomes fully operational, we have no timeline for our return, it seems that Ms. Claudel and Sheena will be hired as staff there.
And so… starting today, we will be visiting the streets of Las Vegas for a one-night, 2-day trip.
”Yay! I never thought I would get permission to leave the base!”
Sheena is over the moon.
”You shouldn’t get too carried away. This permission was granted on the condition that you are with us.”
Ms. Claudel sternly reminded the excited Sheena.
As we plan to move to Japan eventually, Dr. Mathius judged that Sheena needs practical life training in society, so she was granted permission to go outside the base under supervision.
However, it’s strictly forbidden for her true identity to be revealed, so to hide her tail, Sheena is wearing a voluminous Rococo-style long skirt, like what nobility women wore in medieval Europe, which may draw attention for a different reason.
Anyway, gambling isn’t really prohibited, but I don’t have a single dollar to my name, so where else should I look besides the casino?
And for Sheena, the first town she’s seeing after coming to this world is Las Vegas… it’s hard to say if that’s good or bad.
