Rising Monk V2c40

Volume 2 Chapter 40 Lodging

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”I’m sorry for the rudeness.”

After McCutchen, who had ripped his pants, left with his soldiers,

Maribel stepped forward in front of Kian and apologized in a gentle tone.

By the way, she had far fewer people around her now.

Most of the group had followed McCutchen, who ripped his pants, out of the room.

Now, only 2 guards and one lady were with Maribel.

This did not look very good for the Margrave’s group who was greeting the guests.

In fact, it seemed a little dangerous for her to go among the drunk men.

”Are you going to keep greeting people, Your Excellency?”

”Yes, Owl. I really want to have a good talk, but”

 ”Should I accompany you?”

”Can you help me with that?”

”Yes. Kian, Guillaume, and Christina. It was a fun time. Let’s talk again.”

Owl said this and adjusted his hat before joining Maribel’s group.

”Kian, thank you for coming from far away. I am happy you answered my call.”

 ”No problem.”

”I will thank you later for protecting me from the assassin’s blade. Christy, please take care of him until then.”

 ”…I understand”

The black-haired witch’s face said, “You’re kidding me, are you going to make me entertain him?” but she just nodded obediently.

 ”Kian”

 ”Yes”

”No… nothing. I hope you enjoy your party.”

After showing signs of hesitation, Owl finally said just that.

Maribel begins to walk toward some lord or noble, and her guards, including Owl, follow her closely.

If they had added 2 more guards and one or 2 more ladies to accompany them, the whole thing would have looked perfect.

After they left, Christy sighed dramatically.

”This is the worst. Why does it always have to be like this?”

”Maybe it’s because you say too much?”

 ”Huh?”

She glares at the ponytailed knight, Guillaume, who has interrupted her.

Her eyes looked like they could curse him at any moment, but the new knight with brown hair seemed not to notice the anger directed at him.

”More important than that, you were amazing!”

 ”Are you talking to me?”

”Oh, of course. Just now, when you quickly swung your right hand, a burst of magic power flew out like a slicing wind. In the next moment, the lord’s pants ripped.”

”Huh? It was your fault, Kian?”

 ”……”

At Christy’s word, Kian takes a silence. Still, Guillaume continued to speak with a polite smile.

”It’s no wonder the lady magician didn’t notice. Your skills were very bright. I think anyone else would have missed it too.”

”Even if I did ruin Sir McCutchen’s pants, what would you do? Would you plan to take me away as a troublemaker?”

”Of course not. I owe Sir McCutchen a lot, but it’s not good to hit a woman. You were at the ceremony earlier, right? The knight’s promise──to protect the weak and do what is right. If you hadn’t done it, I would have stopped the lord myself.”

Guillaume said that and showed a big white smile.

 He turned around and continued.

”Anyway, the friends partying over there are calling me to come back. This is my goodbye. I hope to have a chance to spar with you next time.”

”I’ll only respond if challenged. If you want to fight me, there’s no reason for me to refuse. However, there’s a huge difference in motivation between having benefits for myself and not having benefits, so if we’re going to duel, I’d like to bet at least the contents of our wallets.”

”That sounds like an adventurer. Got it. If we fight, we’ll both bet everything in our wallets.”

After saying that, Guillaume nodded slightly and said, “Okay then.” before returning to his companions.

People came like storms and went like storms.

The attention of the curious onlookers has already scattered in all directions, and only Kian and Christy are left standing by the wall.

Christy took a sip of wine, looked away, and spoke.

 ”Well…thanks”

 ”What is it?”

 ”So, you helped me earlier.”

”I did not rip Sir McCutchen’s pants. Please don’t blame me wrongly.”

”Can’t you just accept my thanks honestly?”

”It is a knight’s duty to protect women. Even if I helped Ms. Christy, I just did what I was supposed to do.”

”Since when did you become my knight?”

 ”……”

 Kian glanced down at Christy.

She was sulking and sipping her wine slowly.

 She was not being honest.

(Should I surprise her a little?)

’What are you planning to do?’

Kian smiled slightly, then became serious and knelt before the black-haired witch.

He quickly took her hand and kissed it gently.

 ”Huh…?”

 ”Right now.”

Kian whispered in a low voice.

He looked down shyly and continued speaking.

”From now on, I, Kian, will be your knight, Ms. Christy. I will use my sword skills and magic for you.”

”Wha… what, what are you doing!?”

 ”For the woman I love”

 ”Hey…, heh…? Heh…!?”

Christy looks up at Kian, who has gotten up and cornered her against the wall, with eyes like a frightened rabbit.

Kian gave her a sadistic look before pressing her against the wall and putting his hands on it.

 ”~~~~”

 ”…what”

Kian chuckled and pulled away from her.

”What would you do if I suddenly said something?”

 ”…! Ah, you!?”

”Oh, did you take it seriously?”

 ”I didn’t, die!”

 ”I was half serious though”

 ”Buh!?”

 ”Hahaha”

 ”~~~~!”

”I’m sorry, Ms. Christy. Don’t make that face.”

”Then don’t do things that don’t make sense! Seriously, it doesn’t make sense! It’s totally unbelievable!”

 ”How can I be forgiven?”

”I won’t forgive you no matter what!”

 ”This is a problem…”

If I won’t be forgiven no matter what I do, then it means I won’t be forgiven at all.

Then, I guess I should just go all out and be hated as much as possible.

 Kian secretly licked his lips.

 ”Um… more importantly.”

 ”Yes.”

”You were just called ‘Kian Vahid’ by Sir McCutchen, right?”

”……What does that have to do with anything?”

”It surprises me that you have a last name. And isn’t Vahid from those Twelve Divine Generals?”

 ”You’ve got the wrong person.”

”It’s not good to tell a lie that anyone can see through quickly.”

Christy looked up at Kian with her shiny black eyes.

”If I ask Sir McCutchen, I will know everything.”

”Then why not go ask him? I have nothing to say except ‘you have the wrong person’.”

”It just feels kind of strange…”

”I know it’s not my place to say this, but Ms. Christy, you speak your mind too quickly and act too rashly. It’s better to think more before expressing yourself.”

”That may be true… I always say too much.”

’──It is not just one word, it is 3 words more’

”But thank you for saving me that last bit. If Ms. Christy hadn’t stepped in, I probably would have been dragged out by the guards.”

It seems like things might have worked out if they had been left to Maribel, but Christy ended up taking the place of the problem.

 He should be grateful.

 Still, Christy’s shoulders slumped.

”In the end, it got really uncomfortable. Let’s have a drink and then leave. I’ll show you the room where you can wait.”

”Should I not show my face to the head magician?”

”They probably heard about the incident with Sir McCutchen from the guards, so they probably wouldn’t say anything if you were there.”

Christy’s face clearly showed her desire to go home early.

As she herself said, she really doesn’t like parties.

Kian nodded once and quickly drank all the honey wine in his glass.

”I understand. Then let’s leave the hall.”
