Before the banquet started, Kian and Christy left the hall together.
In the hallway near the hall, they saw knights gathered here and there, talking, but as they followed Christy toward the waiting room, fewer and fewer people passed by.
(They were moving east from the banquet hall on the second floor of the square main castle.)
They went through a narrow hallway and walked down an open corridor that looked out onto a courtyard with tropical plants.
There were white pillars and white railings.
Only the stone floor was orange.
As Kian looked around to understand where they were and how the building was set up, Christy simply walked ahead calmly.
They entered indoors again and went up the stairs.
It seemed like they were on the third floor of the east building.
The walls were cream-colored, and the floor had a red carpet.
There were a few paintings hanging on the walls.
(Darn. I’m getting farther away from the red spot where the ancient equipment is hidden.)
Kian frowned as he stared at the faint red color wavering beyond the wall.
They moved in a straight line from west to east, through a passageway, but it turned out that the closest place to the hidden equipment was the courtyard with tropical plants.
Maybe the equipment is resting just north of there.
”Ms. Christy, what’s there if you go up north from the courtyard we just left?”
”North…? You mean through the courtyard?”
Kian nodded and Christy looked puzzled.
”The North Building is where Manon and the female magicians live.”
”I see”
”So what?”
”Nothing”
”……??”
(Hey, ‘glasses’)
’What is this?’
Kian frowned deeply.
(The ancient equipment you mentioned seems to be in the North Building where the princess usually lives.)
’That is right’
(I’ll ask again, is that red oney definitely the equipment?)
’Uh huh’

Christy opened the door and went inside.

In front, there was a sofa for guests to sit on.
The room was about ten meters wide and long.
The furniture inside looked very cheap.
”I will call the maid right away. I’ll have her make tea.”
”Ms. Christy, are you going back to your room?”
”I really want to, but I have to entertain you. I will be back soon.”
After saying that, she left the room.
Kian looked to the northwest and saw the location of the equipment highlighted in red by the ‘glasses.’
All the equipment that ‘glasses’ has introduced so far has been powerful.
The Nightshade coat is especially great because he can wear it all the time.
There is no choice but to go and get that.
(But how could I get in there? Maribel’s residential area would be patrolled by guards, and would be protected by multiple barriers set up by magicians.)
Kian walked back and forth in the room, feeling restless.

Soon, a maid with tea and Christy should be coming back.
He can’t go there in five minutes.
Thinking this, Kian suddenly realized.
”Oh, right. It’s already dusk! Come, Wraith!”
He called into the empty space.
Inside Kian’s Nightshade coat, something started to move, and a tengu and a fox mask appeared.
A black shadow lifted and turned into 2 human shapes in front of Kian.

Since it was getting dark, if they moved carefully in the shadows, they should be able to reach the north building.
”It’s over there. Can you see it? That red dot… Oh darn, should I give this one ‘glasses’? “
’Those guys don’t have eyes.’
”That’s right. So is it impossible?”
’No, Night Wraiths can’t see, but they can feel life force. That way, they can find where the prey is.’
”────! Over there. About 700 meters (766 yd) away from here, powerful equipment is sleeping. Find it and bring it to me.”
When Kian gave that command, the two wraiths made a slight nod.
He doesn’t know if they really understood what he was saying, but they melted into a sludgy mess and disappeared under the carpet.
The two presences pass through the wall and move slowly but in a straight line towards the location where the treasure is sleeping.
(The direction is correct. Good, it seems to have been understood.)
Kian let out a small sigh and sat down on the sofa in front of the fireplace.
Perhaps because it was still daylight, or perhaps because they were trying to avoid the barrier, the path the two Wraiths took was no longer straight, but instead took a detour.
He’s nervous, but for now he has no choice but to leave it to them.
(Just give it a try, if it doesn’t work then it doesn’t work)
Kian made this conclusion and smiled as he heard 2 pairs of footsteps coming quickly from down the hall.
He had to keep talking about regular things with Christy so she wouldn’t notice the magic power connection with the familiar until the others came back.

Then, he talked with Christy while the maid served tea for 3 hours.
The view outside the room’s window was already dark.
The party was on the opposite side of the room, so he couldn’t hear the noise, but if everything was going smoothly, most guests must be feeling drunk by now.
This means it was a good time for Maribel to quietly leave the party.
”Because things got delayed, it seems like Manon can’t leave yet,”
Christy said while sipping her tea cup in front of Kian.
”Was it already delayed from the knight’s ceremony?”
Kian replied with a smile but was secretly clicking his tongue inside.
The ones sent to get the equipment took about an hour to finally reach what seemed to be the right place, but they were just spinning around like they were lost, not bringing back the equipment at all.
Could it be that the equipment couldn’t be touched by a ghost?
Or maybe they didn’t understand his command properly and was just spinning around to say “Master, here it is.”
’Night Wraith does not have a brain to think. They are a total wimp. Kufufufu…’
(This isn’t funny at all. As a punishment, I’ll make you repeatedly picture in your mind the image of my d*ck leaping into the air as it shoots out its s*men.)
’Sorry. Think again. Kian? …Huh?’
(Damn. What are those 2 doing…?)
”Hey. You’ve been looking out the window for a while now. What’s wrong?”
”──No. Nothing. By the way, Sir Oswald and Sir Renaud are not here today. If they are here, I would like to go and say hello to Sir Oswald and Ms. Aisha.”
”Noble lords are often busy, so they don’t join the parties much.”
Christy said this while crossing her legs.
She continued.
”Well, when a big lord comes, the number of knights they bring is a lot, so we are thankful. It really cuts down on costs. Personally, I don’t care about it.”
”I can’t imagine how many wallets have disappeared just from today’s party.”
”Surprisingly, it hasn’t cost that much. Only Owl from the ‘Knights of the Sun’ is here, and only the lords close to the fortress or related to Manon are present. I think it might be a livelier party if Oswald throws a birthday bash.”
”Sir Oswald is rich, isn’t he?”

Just then, as Christy said this, she heard footsteps coming down the hallway.
It was probably a maid.
Did she bring extra baked goods?
”Oh, excuse me for a moment.”
But it seemed different, and the door opened slightly as Christy was called outside.
A dark-haired witch went out, and Kian received a refill of tea.
He was starting to feel quite full.
”Kian”
”Is something wrong?”
The next time Christy came into the room, she was accompanied by a maid who had come to tell her something.
She didn’t sit on the sofa opposite, but walked over to Kian and began speaking with a serious look on her face.
”Actually… I’ve got some urgent news. Manon will be attending a meeting with Sir McCutchen and others right away.”
”Oh?”
”I’m really sorry. I made you wait this long.”
”That’s really polite”
Kian said this while glancing at the Night Wraiths, who were still circling around as usual, in a half-resigned mood.
”Well, I can’t just say ‘Sorry, I have to go home because I’m in a meeting’ to someone who helped me so much and who I’ve been chatting with for 3 hours.”
”Is the meeting going to take a long time?”
”That’s…yeah. It’s kind of serious.”
”Did something happen at the banquet hall?”
”No. That’s not it. But, there are 2 very big events. I can’t tell you about them.”
When Christy turned to the maid behind her, the maid nodded.
The black-haired witch turned her face back to Kian.
”Manon thinks it would be rude to just turn you away like this.”
”I am a commoner.”
”…..Commoner, huh. … Well, that’s okay. Anyway, both Manon and I don’t want to do something terrible like just sending you away. But if Sir McCutchen finds out, he might tell us to send you back right away.”
”So, what should I do now? Should I wait until the meeting with Her Excellency is over in this room?”
If that was the case, he thought he would pretend to go to the bathroom and call back the others.
But, Christy shook her head and started to say something unexpected.
”The meeting probably won’t end even until after tomorrow. We can’t let Sir McCutchen know, so we can’t use the guest room roughly. Almost all the servants except for a few are under his influence. Manon says to use her room, but I can’t let you do that.”
Christy took a deep breath as if she had made up her mind and continued.
”So, I will take you to my room in the north building. I will lend you the living room, so if you’re sleepy, you can sleep there. However, if you enter the bedroom, I will curse you, so keep that in mind.”
