”Lord Kondrad… Before hiring Ms. Ane at my home, I have something I would like to ask you?”
Kondrad, who had been conversing with Ane, turned to face me.
”What is it?”
”Does Ms. Ane have a fiancé?”
”Huh? With a girl like her, she doesn’t have a fiancé yet.”
”Then, Ms. Ane, do you have someone you are seeing?”
”Huh? No. I have never dated anyone while leaving Lady Aurelia behind.”
Condition cleared!
Now it’s time to charge ahead!
I took off my Illusion Glasses and looked at Ane.
There stood a woman with medium-length, curly brown hair and amber, almond-shaped eyes that conveyed a strong will.
She had a toned body from horseback riding, complemented by a nice bust, and I spoke to Ane.
”Actually, I think I’ve fallen for you at first sight, Ms. Ane. Would you be my concubine? Aurelia would be happy about it too.”
”W-What? I don’t understand what you mean. Lord Kent has Lady Aurelia and many other women.”

I believed that if I could win over Ane, Kondrad would automatically follow.

Aurelia took Kondrad and his father’s hands, pleading.
”…But I can’t just leave the military…”
Kondrad seemed hesitant about leaving the army.

”You can transfer. I may not look it, but I’m a Southern General in the royal army. My unit defends the southern garrison. Since my father-in-law is the commander, a transfer request would be approved instantly. You don’t need to quit.”
”…Father…I want to serve as Sir Kent’s concubine. And I want to support Lady Aurelia.”
I think Kondrad is weighing his place under General Gertroud against serving under me.
”Ane…Lord Kent, if I transfer to your army, will you promise to make the Vermillionblade family a landed Viscount house?”
Kondrad seemed to have made up his mind.
”Understood. Since Ane’s involved, I’ll make sure it happens. But first, we need to clear the southern monsters. Will you help?”

Kondrad bowed to me.
To earn their trust further, I revealed a secret.

I laid down a card.

Both were shocked.

”For my safety, my father-in-law forged it. I don’t want His Majesty Shifa to know. I trust you, Kondrad, so I’m telling you.”
”Father…If Lord Kent and Lady Aurelia have a child, there is a possibility that the child will be [Red]…If I too receive Lord Kent’s kindness and become pregnant, there is a possibility that the child will be [Red]…”
Kondrad seemed to understand what Ane said.
”Lord Kent… Are you planning to increase the number of children with [red]? If you do that, you’ll be killed by His Majesty! His Majesty Shifa is the man who assassinated Lady Aurelia’s father, who fought to decide the clan leader.”
”I know that, so I’m gathering capable people. I don’t want to be killed easily either. I plan to become someone powerful in the south who can’t be easily taken down.”
”I see… then you’ll need to act more foolish. Let’s say my reason for transferring this time is that I’m worried about my daughter being pursued by the woman-loving Lord Blackdagger, so I want to keep an eye on her.”
”Well, that’s true. I’ll leave the military to Kondrad, Fristoph, and Akebus. Both Fristoph and Akebus are excellent, so get along with them.”

”Ane, I’m counting on you for the captain of the cavalry. We have 0 cavalry, so it might be tough, but raise them as you like. The budget will be applied for by Kondrad through Helga.”
”Yes! Can I really decide freely?”
”Sure. For now, start with about 30 riders.”
The cavalry was entrusted to Ane.
It would cost money, but the mobility and charge of cavalry are essential in battles against monsters.

Ane was passionate about training the cavalry.

Then Akebus leaned forward.
He and Kondrad hit it off and seemed to be drunk.
”My lord! Please establish a family for us, the Godard Clan. Ulrika, Nannie, and Kerstin serve you.”
”Should we appoint Fristoph? He’s the next clan leader, right?”
Milly was eager to find a bride for Fristoph. It was decided that a 16-year-old Godard clan woman would marry the 42-year-old Fristoph, securing his position as Akebus’s next clan leader.
I avoided seeing the face of Fristoph’s bride.
Meddling with a subordinate’s wife is a death flag.
Fristoph seemed satisfied with his bride, and it positively impacted his work.
”Fristoph is the Godard Clan leader. What we seek is a family that carries both your blood and the Godard Clan’s, my lord.”
Akebus asked me to establish a family with both my blood and the Godard Clan’s.
However, I warned him to avoid internal conflicts after my death.
”Akebus, I can establish a family, but they won’t inherit the Blackdagger name. Is that fine?”
”We’ve always served Lady Miriallia’s Blackdagger family. A vassal house is enough. The Godard Clan exists to support the Blackdagger family.”
”Understood. If Ulrika, Nannie, and Kerstin bear children, I’ll appoint them. Is that acceptable?”
”We’re deeply grateful. The Godard Clan will be your hands and feet.”
Akebus returned to Kondrad in high spirits, drinking with Fristoph.

A few days later, Kondrad and his daughter transferred from the western garrison.
I immediately assigned them military duties.
Five officers and 50 soldiers, all women, transferred from the western garrison in those few days.
Ane seemed to have persuaded women dissatisfied with their treatment.
It was especially helpful that she recruited experienced and active cavalry.
My father-in-law also recruited a considerable number of officers and soldiers.
They could be transferred if they submitted a transfer application individually and the Southern Commander-in-Chief’s father-in-law approved it, so it seems that soldiers and officers other than those from the Asura Clan who were dissatisfied with their treatment were all transferring.
General Gertroud’s southern army, which brought 2,500 soldiers, dropped below 1,000 within days of arrival.
Only those benefiting from the Asura Clan’s favoritism and criminal-like scum remained under General Gertroud.

Generals from the capital, like Karvai and Gertroud, seem like a collection of incompetence and scum.
Well, thanks to them, my father-in-law and I managed to recruit capable people.
My father-in-law also introduced about ten female administrative officers, though the transfer fees were steep.
I assigned these women to Lila’s direct administrative team.
They’re competent, freeing Milly and Annabella from paperwork.
This way, I’ve strengthened my retainers and concubines.
