Today, it wasn’t Annabella who came to wake me up in the morning──it was Milly.
”Huh? It’s rare for Milly to come wake me up. Where’s Annabella?”
Milly approached my bed with a serious expression.
”Kent, don’t be shocked, but listen. It seems Ms. Annabella is pregnant. Lana’s going to do a detailed [Examination] now, but it’s probably true.”
I was thrown off by the sudden announcement of her pregnancy.
”W-wait, Annabella?! I heard she was ‘barren,’ but she’s really pregnant?”
I was happy that Annabella, the one I’d been with the most, was pregnant, but hearing that she──who was supposedly barren and had never conceived before──was now pregnant felt suspicious.
”She’s pregnant. That’s because she stole and took a fertility drug. Remember? We found it in the storage during the move.”
Milly’s words reminded me.
It was that item──a powerful drug that could make you fertile for one time but would stop your periods if it didn’t work.
”Wait, she took that drug? Wasn’t that classified as poison? Carly was supposed to take it to the Hunter Guild to have it disposed of, right?”
”Well, Carly made Ms. Annabella her accomplice to steal both contraceptive and fertility drugs so she could get her hands on the contraceptives.”
I finally understood why Carly had stopped resisting so much when I came inside her after she came to Estfort──she’d been taking contraceptives.
”So Carly was taking contraceptives! That’s why she stopped resisting so much!”
I felt angry at Carly.
If she hated the idea of having my child that much, I would’ve excused her from her duties.
She could have paid back her debt as a Monster Hunter.
I never asked her to take birth control pills to work.
”But, Kent. Carly is also pregnant. The medicine I told Carly was a contraceptive was actually just a stamina booster. She thought it was a contraceptive and kept taking it while being with Kent.”
When it comes to Carly, Milly’s mischievous side, the “Black Milly,” shows itself.
It seems Carly was tricked by Milly and ended up pregnant with my child.
”If that’s the case, won’t Carly try to get an abortion? She’s carrying the child of the Majin Clan, which she hates the most.”

I never would’ve thought Annabella would tamper with the ledger.
She’s always been so strict about money, so the idea of her messing with the accounts is shocking.
”Tampering with the ledger… how much are we talking about? With the pregnancy medicine and the stamina booster?”
”Well, the stamina booster costs 5 silver coins, but the pregnancy medicine was priceless.”
”…Priceless?”

I felt relieved to learn that the medicine Annabella supposedly took wasn’t the dangerous drug Milly mentioned.
Still, if it guarantees pregnancy without side effects, anyone would go to great lengths to get it.
”Did Annabella really want a child with me that badly…?”
”Well, most of Kent’s concubines want children. I’d like one soon too.”
I heard that Milly wants to have a child with me, so I apologized to her.
”I’m sorry, Milly. I couldn’t get you pregnant first…”
”It’s okay. Carly was unexpected, but Ms. Annabella is happy that all of Kent’s concubines are getting pregnant.”
”For now, we need to take the two of them to see Lana first.”
”After that, I plan to hold a hearing about the tampering of records and hiding of goods by all the concubines. Even if Kent and I forgive them, we need to set things right.”
Given the circumstances, Carly and Annabella might not escape punishment…
”Do we really have to hold a hearing…?”

After finishing helping me change, Milly said she would take Annabella and Carly to see Lana and left the room.
I was caught between the joy of becoming a father and the duty to punish Annabella and the others.
After breakfast, everyone gathered around the round table in the mansion’s living room.
They were here to participate in the upcoming hearing.
Among the concubines who had gathered, I could see Ane and Noemi, who had recently started attending.
Eventually, all the concubines gathered, so I decided to start the hearing.
”Alright, everyone, thank you for coming today despite your busy schedules. First, let’s start with some good news. The results of Lana’s [Examination] confirmed that Annabella is pregnant. Annabella is carrying my first child.”
My announcement caused a stir around me.
By the way, it seems Carly’s delay in her period was just a side effect of a stamina drug.
I heard she was crying.
I couldn’t imagine seeing Carly cry.
”Ms. Annabella? But wasn’t Ms. Annabella ‘barren’? Isn’t it strange for her to be pregnant?”
Feria, pretending to be innocent, made a sharp observation, and I realized she had a nose for these situations.
It looks like Feria sensed there was more to Annabella’s pregnancy.
”Yes, Feria was right. Annabella is a barren. The bad news is that Annabella went to great lengths to get pregnant.”
”Is something wrong? With head Maid Annabella?”
Ulrika was surprised.
”That’s right… Ulrika. She was persuaded by Carly to falsify the books in order to obtain the fertility drug. The reason we gathered here today is to hold a meeting to decide on the punishment for Carly and Annabella.”
Annabella and Carly’s evil deeds were revealed, and everyone started to get restless.
Then Annabella and Carly came in with Milly.
Lina stood up and called out to Carly.
”Miss Carlamia! It’s a lie that you stole the medicine, right?”
”Carlamia, I can’t believe it either. Please tell me it’s a lie!”
Dee was also very attached to Carly, so she seems shocked.
”Quiet! We’re about to begin the hearing! Anyone with an opinion, raise your hand.”
Aida’s hand went up at my words.
”Aida, please”
