Chapter 102 A Rash Scheme
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
With a grandiose black umbrella in hand, Sword’s group approaches. The darkness outside and their ominous aura create a sense of danger.
”…You’ve done it now.”
”What’s going on? It’s raining, so can we please keep this brief?”
”I thought you were a suitable negotiation partner. I showed you a decent reward, but you’re just a low-ranking noble with a bit of money, trying to act like a big shot?”
As I look around, I notice more black-clad figures closing in from behind. Everyone except Sword has magical powers.
The area around my mansion is usually deserted at night. I’ve researched this area before, so I know that.
”As for Claire’s case, it’s been rejected. You’re trying to force her to hand over her family heirloom, but that’s not going to happen…”
”You’re a pathetic brat…!”
Sword directs his intense hatred towards me. I sense that there are more black-clad figures lurking around.
Hmm?
There’s someone acting suspiciously… They’re backing away, looking at the black-clad figures.
”This is your final warning. Tell White Lily Cafe to hand over their collection, no matter what. Depending on your response, we’ll take action.”
”Hmm…”
I take a step closer to Sword, and he seems to panic. He didn’t expect me to move like that.
”W-what are you doing…?!”
”I’m interested. What kind of plan do you have?”
I take another step closer to Sword, and a large black-clad figure stands in front of me.
”You, don’t get close to Mr. Sword!”
”I want to talk, so I came closer. But what’s with the attitude? Can I have a proper conversation unless Mr. Sword is standing behind you, the muscle-brained guy?”
”You’re looking down on me! You bastard!”
The black-clad figure suddenly gets enraged and grabs my clothes. His magically enhanced muscles are impressive. He lifts me up by the collar of my robe.
”…Ah, finally.”
”Huh?”
”You’re the one who made the first move, so don’t blame me.”
I deliver a swift slap to the musclehead’s temple. The sound of rain and flesh echoes, and blood spurts out of the black-clad figure’s ear.
”Ugh…!”
The black-clad figure that were holding my neck collapsed to his knees. He’s too weak… or rather, he’s underestimating me too much. I’ve seen this kind of thing before, but these guys just don’t learn. I’ll just take care of this myself.
”Is this okay?! You’re making me the enemy…!”
”…Shouldn’t I be the one saying that?”
I had a reason for putting on an act. I sensed a strange presence a while ago――it was a ‘lookout’.
But whose was it?
There’s only one person who would do something like that.
”Sword, sorry about this.”
”Isabella…?! Why are you here?!”
It was Isabella and a police squad who appeared from behind me in the rain. They’re quite skilled, as expected, and moved quickly.
”Why, you ask? Because Alba, who’s being threatened by you, consulted with me. This isn’t the first time you’ve stormed into a mansion, is it?”
Sword looked stunned. I guess he didn’t think I’d already consulted with Police Officer Isabella.
”Setting up a lookout around Alba’s mansion was the right call. I didn’t think it would come to this, though…”
”I didn’t think so either, Miss Isabella. It’s good I consulted with the police.”
One reason Sword overlooked this was because of the Lizaro incident. So, while he grasped that I went to the police, he didn’t think deeply about the details. Sword is usually cautious, but he missed the essence of the situation.
”Ugh, you…! How dare you!”
”I’m a model citizen, so when I’m in trouble, I immediately consult with the police.”
”Threats, intimidation, obstruction of justice… everyone here, please come quietly.”
”Isabella…!! Wait! Is this really okay?! This is just a small――”
”Shut up!! Don’t beg me!”
Isabella’s anger flared up, and she barked.
”I’m a guardian of the law, a police officer! If you have something to say, say it at the station! Surrender quietly!”
The police officers, armed with batons, closed in. It’s not a big deal for me, but the black-clad figures are quite skilled. The police have the advantage in terms of combat power, though…
”Ugh! Everyone, help me escape!!”
Well, it’s come to this. There’s no choice but for the black-clad people to abandon their black uniforms and save themselves.
”Don’t let them escape! Catch them all!”
Isabella’s order flies out, and the black-clad people clash with the police officers. A battle between magicians is a spectacular sight. Sparks scatter, and a whirlwind erupts.
But my goal is Sword alone. I’ve already found the shortest route to reach Sword by slipping through the black-clad people.
I blend into the darkness and dash towards Sword with a slippery speed. This speed is something I’ve never shown before, even in front of Sword. Of course, the black-clad people, who are now aware of the police, can’t stop me either.
”Well, goodnight then.”
I kneel before Sword, and unleash a corkscrew punch to the chest. Hmm, let’s see if I can dig a bit deeper.
”Guh…”
Sword spits out air from his lungs and collapses with a single blow. This has decided the outcome. Fear and confusion are etched on the black-clad people’ faces. For Isabella, the private soldiers who have lost their morale are nothing but a trivial matter.
