Chapter 122 The Way Of Calling
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
After ordering, the dishes we ordered arrived shortly. The quantity wasn’t that much, but it looked fancy with herbs on top.
”Wow, looks delicious!”
”Let’s eat!”
So, we started with the cheese toast. Since we had knives and forks, we ate carefully….
The rich flavor of the melted cheese and the soft wheat flour were a perfect match. It was a satisfying taste that hit the spot, with a punch.
”Mmm, this is good… The bread part is really soft too!”
”Yeah, the texture and taste are both great!”
We washed it down with the coffee we ordered. This coffee prioritized a refreshing taste, and it was perfect when eaten together.
Outside the window, there were low-rise buildings and vast fields that stretched out, unlike the royal capital. If you looked closely, you could see a ranch in the distance. There were cows the size of rice grains.
”Is that cow’s cheese?”
”Hmm? Ah, yes, there are cows in the distance. We should be grateful for the blessings.”
”Does the Student Council President’s territory also raise livestock?”
”Of course. But it’s not a brand that exports, just enough for self-consumption, I suppose.”
I could tell what Lana was trying to say. She was careful not to look directly, but that kind of thing was exactly what the beast people here were good at.
”Hmm, I see…”
”…I thought so, but Alba really likes sweet things and is particular about food.”
”That’s…”
For a moment, I hesitated, but it was okay to mention that I ran a pastry shop. After all, that was a completely different story.
”I run a pastry shop in my hometown. It’s more like a side job, though.”
”Wow, that’s amazing! In the royal capital?”
”Well, it’s not that big of a deal.”
”Ha… Alba also helps out. That’s why you’re good with numbers too.”
It was actually the opposite, since I had knowledge from my past life, which helped me with management and student council-like tasks.
”But if you’re from the academy, you should be able to eat a wide variety of food, right?”
”Hmm… I don’t know. There are many nobles who can’t get away from their hometown’s taste. Some people don’t want to eat the royal capital’s food except during gatherings.”
”Hmm, I didn’t expect that.”
In my past life, I was able to adapt relatively easily, without any strong likes or dislikes. Or rather, the variety of food in this world was naturally narrower than in modern Japan. It couldn’t be helped.
”Does the president have favorites or dislikes?”
”I don’t really have any, I guess. But the olive oil from the royal capital is a bit too much for me.”
”Heh heh, I thought so too.”
”Really!? That’s right, isn’t it?”
Then Lana leaned in close to me.
”…Hey, I was thinking…”
”Yes?”
”That thing about the president, can we drop it? During this training camp, can we call each other by name?”
”…Okay. But is that alright?”
”Well, we’re outside the academy, and there’s no one to care about it.”
I suppose that’s true. But being called by name… isn’t that nice? I’d love to do that.
Is it a bit too casual to just call her ‘Lana’?
Wouldn’t ‘Almira’ be about the same?…
”So, is it okay to call you Ms. Lana?”
”Mm… that’s fine.”
She seemed really pleased, including her tone. As for me, it felt fresh and like we’d crossed a new line.
We ate the crispy toast and shared the cake. The amount wasn’t that much, but the rich flavors made us feel full.
”{hew… this will last us till night.”
”Yeah, dinner seems to be centered around seafood.”
As we were chatting, the time to board the train approached. We left the café and headed towards home.
We passed through the crowded station and arrived at the platform for the south-bound train. The congestion here was a bit better than at the South Central Station.
”Ah, it’s here.”
The train, which had blown its whistle, pulled into the platform. All the trains I’d seen so far were black, but this one was a vibrant blue.
It was more like a sea color than a sky color. It was clear they were going for a Harbor Town Vitz theme.
”Wow, what a beautiful blue. I’ve never seen it before.”
”Me neither. It’s going to be tough to keep that beautiful color, though.”
”Yeah, there’s rust and grime… but I guess it’s okay since it’s for tourists.”
We boarded the first-class carriage at the front of the stopped train. There was no one getting off.
The interior was much more colorful than the trains from the royal capital. There were red coral models and blue flowers, and the walls were decorated with beautiful island scenery floating on the sea.
”The Beautiful Islands of Vitz” was the title, and right below the illustration, there was even a rack for tourist brochures. What a clever business move.
”Vitz’s Island…”
I snatched the brochure from the rack.
”Alba, I’m interested.”
”Well, since we’re here, we might as well take a brochure.”
Whether we go to the island or not depends on how crowded Vitz’s beach is. The real question is, where’s the best spot to get intimate with Lana on the beach.
If we can find a good spot near the hotel, that’d be perfect. But if it’s too crowded, it might be impossible. However, if we go on a less popular island tour, we might be able to get away with some water play.
”Yeah, there might be a good island…”
Lana also picked up a brochure, oblivious to my wicked thoughts. I’ve been holding back for a while now, so I’m pretty calm.
But this is a half-month-long school trip, and I need all sorts of options. This island might just become one of them.
