Chapter 81 Rare Material
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I left the White Lily Cafe, exhausted, after having s*x with Lisa. Although it was night, there were still many people walking around in the bustling streets.
”I’ll be grateful if you could help me out.”
”I got it. If you find any new information, let me know.”
With Claire seeing me off, I headed back to the mansion. I organized the information I received and… collapsed onto the bed. I think I can sleep soundly today.

The next day, Tuesday.
I finished conveying various messages, including contacting Isabella. Then, I headed to the academy.
While attending classes, I vaguely thought about my plans for the future.
- Meeting with Isabella (depending on her schedule, but I want to get police information as soon as possible)
- Lana’s family (waiting for documents; can I replace the doctor? I don’t want to disappoint Lana…)
- The mysterious pharmacist Zarek (using an alias; can I investigate through the medicine ingredients? I’ll ask Sherry)
For now, the first thing I can do is search for pharmacist Zarek. I don’t know if he’s in the capital, but tracking him down is crucial――if I can’t find him, that’s just how it is. It’s not like I’m writing a mystery novel where the important suspect disappears at the end, but I’ve done my part.
My job is to investigate in Claire’s place. It’s not like I’m responsible for things I can’t figure out.
At noon, during lunch break. I headed to the magic medicine classroom where Sherry was. I knocked on the door, and as usual, Sherry with her black-rimmed glasses welcomed me.
”…You have rice grains on your cheek.”
”Ah!? I was eating dorayaki… .”
Sherry gently removed the rice grains from her cheek. So cute.
”Are you in the middle of lunch? Should I come back later?”
”It’s okay, I’ve almost finished eating. Please, go ahead.”
I didn’t hesitate. I entered the magic medicine classroom, which still had the smell of cheese lingering. Sherry’s lunchbox was almost empty. It seemed like she had almost finished her lunch.
”Do you cook and stuff?”
”Hmm? I just replaced the ingredients I bought elsewhere with meat and that’s it. To be honest, about 80% of it is someone else’s cooking.”
I see. It was a blasphemous lunchbox. Since the Magic Academy is for nobles, there are very few people who cook for themselves. Sherry was one of them, of course.
”And, did you have some business or something?”
”Yeah… I wanted to ask about the materials for magic medicine. These items on the list…”
I didn’t explain the unnecessary before and after, and only asked about the rare materials I found at White Lily Cafe.
”‘Frozen Lizard Tail’, ‘Moon Moss’, ‘Flying Piranha Fang’.”
And a few more. These 3 rare items are probably hard to find, and if we can get them, it’s a promising lead.
”Meow… meow, meow…”
Sherry’s tail started swishing back and forth. Then, Sherry stopped moving.
Huh? I thought she’d get an answer right away.
”…Where did you hear about this?”
Her tone was different. This is bad. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked about the item names alone…
This was unexpected. It’s clear that Sherry’s voice is suspicious. I need to be careful.
”My relatives asked me to do a little research. Are these items really that bad? They’re not poisonous, right…?”
”From a relative. Who did that relative buy them from?”
”Well, it didn’t get that far…”
These items are rare, but they shouldn’t be poisonous or banned goods. I have no idea what Sherry is getting at.
As I was getting anxious, Sherry let out a sigh and the atmosphere relaxed.
”Sorry about that. Alba wasn’t really involved…”
”Huh… yeah, what’s going on? I don’t understand why your mood changed, Miss Sherry.”
”How much do you know about these items on the list?”
Sherry rustled the paper.
”Well, that they’re not poisonous or banned goods, that they’re not sold publicly, and that there’s hardly any information about them in textbooks…”
”I see, that’s right. But there’s a secret common point among these items…”
”A secret common point…? I had no idea at all.”
”Alba, it’s no good, you know. Ugh… if you met that relative of yours, tell them this truth. It’s pointless to rely on this stuff.”
”Ugh… I see, so…”
”Basically, all these materials are almost useless. They’re just rare trash.”
”Huh? Is that so?”
But why did Sherry react that way?
”Yeah. These are rare items that were sold with false claims of having healing effects. In reality, they don’t have any effects at all… They’re just tools for scams.”
”What a mess…”
”Probably, that relative of yours was swindled by some bad people. They should report it to the police.”
”Ugh… I see. So that’s why they’re only mentioned by name in textbooks?”
”They’re rare, that’s for sure. But they have almost no medicinal effects. They used to sell pretty well, though. As a professor of magic medicine, I strongly oppose the circulation of these kinds of items.”
So, Claire’s father was buying fake medicine from Zarek. It’s like those mysterious supplements I hear about these days…
But that makes Zarek an even more suspicious person. With a fake name, suddenly disappearing, and suspicious items…
