Volume 13 Chapter 169 Shirogane Aqua, Child’s Name
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I need to decide on a name for my soon-to-be-born child.
Kanon told me she wants me to pick a name, so I really want to meet that expectation.
But then…
”No way. Your naming sense is just terrible.”
”Guh, grrrrr.”
After Kohina-senpai completely shot down my list of name ideas, I grit my teeth.
”If I were Kanon, I’d definitely divorce you.”
”Ugh.”
Crushed by Victoria-sama’s divorce comment, I collapsed on the spot.
”Aqua-kun. Seriously, you can’t just write ‘Freedom’ and call it a name. If my name was Shirogane Freedom, I’d run away.”
”Gwaaaah!”
Inko-san, who was visiting, completely delivered the final blow, and I found myself crawling on the ground.
I want my child to live freely. That was the hope behind the name I chose, but everyone completely rejected it.
”Fine then, if it’s come to this, how about naming them after Shintaro, like Shinjiro or Shinnosuke…”
”Ew. It’s your first child, so at least use your name or Kanon-san’s name!”
My name, right, my name…
A name that connects me and Kanon to Yukari.
No good! I can’t think of anything.
”How about Shirogane Aquapon or Shirogane Kanopon?”
”If you seriously name them that, I will fight for the sake of the child and Kanon-san.”
”Uh, hello Kanon. You should leave the house right now.”
”Aqua-kun, that’s just not happening.”
No, I know!
Even if I know, I can’t come up with anything good.
After all my best ideas like Shirogane Freedom, Shirogane Destiny, and Shirogane Justice were all shot down, I can’t think of anything else.
”Then how about 3 names!?”
With teary eyes, I throw a question back at the 3 of them.
Yeah, I should have done this from the start.
I thought I could listen to their ideas and then use them for my own naming.
”Why not just go with Shirogane Taiya? Your name sounds like a gem, so taking it from diamond to Taiya is fine. If it’s a girl, Ruby-chan or Rubi-chan in katakana sounds good too.”
Hmm. That does sound way better than the names I came up with, like Freedom and Destiny.
Seriously, can you stop giving decent names for Kohina-senpai?
”If it were me, I’d take inspiration from the royal family of Stars and name the boy Shirogane Joji and the girl Shirogane Ann. See? Isn’t that pretty good?”
Oh, I see. That’s a good idea!
I was too fixated on the name Freedom and totally missed that.
”Our names? Of course, it’s Shirogane Burst and Shirogane Tora! I’m counting on you to be the future cleanup hitter!!”
”Sorry. I was dumb for asking Inko-san.”
By the way, Inko-san. Your naming sense is just as basic as mine!!
Huh? And yet you just shot down my Freedom, Justice, and Destiny?
”You really overthink things. Why not try to keep it a bit simpler?”
Simple, simple, simple…
Aqua, Kanon, Aqua, Kanon, I keep repeating my name and Kanon’s in my head.
Hmm? Suddenly, I have a lightbulb moment and search the meaning of those words on my phone.
”Looks like you’ve thought of something. You really are a hassle, you know?”
”Well, why not consult Kanon first? Unlike me, she won’t get mad.”
”Aqua-kun. There are names like Shirogane Naruhama and Shirogane Koshien too.”
Sorry, Inko-san, can you be quiet for a bit?
I express my gratitude to the 3 of them and head over to Kanon.
”Aqua, what’s up?”
”Uh, just thinking about a kid’s name. Yeah.”
I enter Kanon’s room and sit on the bed with her.
Kanon looks at me with a bit of anxiety, but also an excited face.
Oh man. I’m starting to feel nervous about revealing the name I came up with.
Wait, I just realized there’s no freedom with Shirogane here. How stressed out have I been… I silently thank the 3 who seriously tried to stop me.
”Hey, Kanon… it’s a boy’s name, but how about Shirogane Kanoa?”
I explain the reason to Kanon.
I looked it up online, and apparently, Kanoa means “freedom” in Hawaiian.
The reason I got stuck on the name freedom is that in my past life, the child of a celebrity was looked at harshly by society.
So I want my child to live a life they love. I wanted to include the word freedom with that wish. Since it’s a word that doesn’t exist in Stars or Japan, I think it carries a sense of unrestrained freedom.
Plus, I thought taking “Kano” from Kanon and “A” from Aqua to make Kanoa was a good idea.
”Got it. Did you think of a girl’s name too?”
”Yeah. I’m thinking of going with Shirogane Anon for the girl.”
This name also came to me simply by repeating Kanon and Aqua’s names.
In that sense, I think it’s nice that it pairs with twin Kanon.
”As you know, Anon comes from the word anonymous in Stars. That’s why I chose this name. A girl with the blood of the Stars royal family will likely always have the shadow of the royal family looming over her. So I wanted her to be someone who is nothing in particular.”
”Hehe, hehehe.”
Kanon smiles after hearing my explanation.
Oh, wait? Was that not good?
”Oh, sorry. It’s nothing. Just thought Anon for a girl might get the internet buzzing a bit. But I think it’s good!”
Phew… I let out a big sigh.
Thank goodness. I’ve been anxious because Victoria-sama kept hinting at running away and divorce.
”Aqua, thank you for thinking so much for me.”
”Kanooon!”
Kanon really is the only one who spoils me.
I hug Kanon so that it doesn’t affect her stomach.
”Ah, I think I just got kicked in the stomach.”
”Really!”
Maybe the baby is happy with the name I gave.
Thinking that made me really happy.
”Kanon, I’ll keep doing my best from now on!”
For the baby that’s about to be born, and most importantly, for Kanon.
I decided to work hard again.
