Chapter 507 Admired Weaponry

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 (Mira’s POV)

After enjoying the hot springs, both Ema and I lost track of time.

When we got out of the water, dressed and equipped, we spotted Amel and Zamie at a bar counter-like area in the lobby of the hot spring.

”Sorry for the wait. I ended up soaking longer than planned.”

”No, we just got out a little while ago too.”

As I rushed over to them and called out, Amel turned around and replied.

 In his hand…

 ”What are you drinking?”

Ema was intrigued by the bottles of light brown liquid they held.

It seemed to be some kind of drink.

(Coffee? But it seems too light. Maybe a lot of milk?)

”This is supposedly their specialty ‘coffee milk.’ It has a hint of coffee aroma, and it’s cold and sweet milk, I guess.”

”I want to try it too! ──Hey, lady! Give us some!”

When Ema placed the order, the lady behind the counter handed us 2 bottles.

”Sure thing. Two bottles for one small silver coin.”

 ”Thank you.”

Ema and I took the bottles and handed the lady one small silver coin.

* * *

”Huh? What is this? It’s delicious!”

”It’s so easy to drink after the bath; I can just gulp it down!”

 ”Right?”

In response to our feelings, Zamie inexplicably wore a smug face.

”I still prefer regular coffee. That bitterness is what I like.”

”What’s that, trying to act like an adult?”

 Ema elbowed Amel.

She muttered, “That’s not what I meant…” in a small voice, but Ema ignored her and continued enjoying the coffee milk.

”Ah… it’s really easy to drink. Sweet and delicious♡”

While savoring the coffee milk, we discussed our plans for the day.

* * *

”The plan was to take it easy today, but──how are you all feeling?”

Amel, who started the conversation, looked at us.

 ”I’m on cloud nine♡”

 ”I feel totally refreshed.”

”Me too. Actually, I feel lighter than usual.”

”I’ve completely relieved my fatigue too.”

”If that’s the case, I… have a place I want to go.”

After hearing our response, Amel finished her coffee milk and suggested something.

”Did you know there’s a master craftsman, Toldo, here in Raetia? I… want to visit him.”

The kingdom’s top craftsman, Toldo Freeberry.

He used to have a workshop in the Royal Capital…

”I heard he’s retired, leaving the shop to his son.”

”That’s the rumor. But actually, I heard he’s running a workshop here in Raetia with his granddaughters.”

I had heard the same from Zamie’s rumors.

If what Amel said is true and he really is running a workshop here…

 ”I… might want one.”

 Ema mumbled softly.

Yes, the weapons crafted by master Toldo are the dreams of adventurers.

 Especially for beginners like us.

”The price is definitely high, but I’ve heard their value exceeds that cost.”

”Yeah. Don’t you want to at least get a dagger… or maybe just a knife?”

I certainly don’t own any of master Toldo’s weapons.

I repeated the reputation I had heard through rumors.

Amel, agreeing with my words, continued to ask everyone, and we all nodded.

Fortunately, everyone had brought enough money. We had saved little by little over the year to challenge the ‘Great Labyrinth of Raetia.’

 ”Then it’s settled.”

Amel smiled as she returned the empty bottle to the counter.

We finished our coffee milk and all left the hot spring place together.

 ”We really bought it…”

”Yeah. It was expensive, but I’m so satisfied.”

Ema and I gazed at our new weapons just outside the workshop.

I pulled the dagger from its sheath, which had an intricate design carved into it, though it wasn’t flashy.

”The blade’s shine is definitely different.”

Ema stared at the dagger she pulled from its sheath as well.

 ”Right? And it’s so light.”

The blade, forged from a special alloy that could only be made in master Toldo’s line, required careful maintenance, but with its lightness and sharpness, it was easy to understand why.

”It’s definitely light. Perfect for Thieves like us in light gear.”

”Yeah, this is the easiest short sword to handle I’ve ever used.”

Zamie and Amel have a short sword.

”I was told to maintain it often, but if it means I can see those girls, I wouldn’t mind sharpening it all the time.”

As Zamie sheathes the short sword, her face relaxes.

 ”Y-Yeah, they were definitely cute…”

Amel blushes and looks out the workshop window.

 ”Seriously… guys…”

Ema gives a sidelong glance at the two.

”Toldo’s granddaughter is cute, but she’s also quite skilled and full of ideas.”

I say this while stroking the sleeves of my new underwear worn under my familiar leather armor.

”This underwear made from Strong Toad slime and Wire Spider silk… it offers quite a bit of protection on its own.”

Ema is also rubbing her stomach where her underwear is.

Until now, I had been wearing thick shirts and pants.

On top of that, I wore leather armor, but Toldo’s granddaughter, a girl with twin tails, recommended this.

”Meluda made it, and its durability has been proven by the adventurers of clan ‘Famière’.”

After trying it on, both Ema and I decided to buy it immediately due to its comfort and ease of movement.

”With Toldo’s dagger and this new material underwear… I can’t wait to go on an adventure.”

Ema nods with a smile at my comment.

”We also want to upgrade our armor soon.”

”Well, we don’t have the budget for that yet… We need to join a party soon and start earning.”

Amel and Zamie exchange glances and nod.

 ”Speaking of which, clan ‘Famière’…”

 Amel mutters quietly.

It seems Toldo and his granddaughters have a contract with that clan.

I heard all 3 granddaughters are adventurers and members of the clan.

”This Raetia is where 3 clans operate as their base. Even though it’s a local city, it still has the Great Labyrinth.”

”Rose Hip and Black Sheep… and Famière, right?”

I’ve heard names like those from the clans back when I was in the Royal Capital.

Rose Hip was a clan made up entirely of women, boasting the largest in the fortress city Mundo.

And I heard that Black Sheep was an elite clan active in the Royal Capital.

”Famière was formed as a new clan centered around a ‘Special Task Party’ that was put together to tackle the S-rank dungeon that appeared in the ‘Goblin Forest’, right?”

”Yeah, I’ve heard they’re still a young clan, but the party from Famière holds the deepest record in the ‘Great labyrinth Raetia’.”

 Amel answered my question.

”A clan, huh… We need to work hard enough to get scouted by one, too.”

”Yeah. ──But first, we have to get into a party.”

I nodded at Ema and then shifted my gaze to Amel and Zaggie.

”We’re thieves. From now on, we’ll each be in different parties and do our best, but… we’ll always be ‘friends’.”

Amel said those strong words, and we all nodded in agreement.
