Volume 6 Chapter 14 Some Events In An Office

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

When I got back to Estfort, I was hit with a mountain of paperwork waiting for me.

I had been gone for about a month dealing with monster hunting around Felward, and all that work piled up while I was away.

Of course, my mother-in-law and the bureaucrats helped out a bit, but most of the stuff left on my desk was related to building a temple I promised to the high priest Elkisa from the Garuda Clan, a ranch I committed to Clarette, a Minotaur, and some rural development proposals from Oliv.

”Ugh, this is ridiculous… I can’t believe a month away turned into this disaster…”

Sitting at my desk in the office, I felt completely drained just looking at that huge stack of documents.

Well, you know what they say──little by little builds up… The Gertroud mission got postponed, and now that things around Felward have calmed down, I guess I should tackle this work while I can…

The southern squad for the Gertroud mission, led by my father-in-law, returned after getting an order to postpone from Her Majesty while they were gearing up for an offensive in the Nolans territory.

Lord Rosenkreuz, who was heading the 5,000-strong force sent by the Kingdom, was also stationed in Westferm with my father-in-law up in Abyss Vena.

Gertroud managed to incite the Ghost Clan somehow, and their strategy to disrupt our rear action worked, causing a lot of damage across the Kingdom from the Ghost Clan.

The Ghost Clan in the South District lost a bunch of members during the big invasion, so besides the roughly ten thousand that gathered around Felward, they never really formed any large groups.

While I felt relieved by the reports coming in, I couldn’t help but think that anything could happen at any mother-in-lawent.

Still, I can’t help but wonder what Gertroud was really after…

Nikka’s latest intel from the east said Gertroud’s beefing up her troops and marching towards Gwain in the northeast.

Gwain’s trying to build up defenses to meet Gertroud head-on, but word is they’re having trouble because the Ghost Clan is giving them a hard time from behind.

Looks like Gertroud ditched the idea of attacking me and is focusing on expanding her territory and growing her army.

Maybe her power as a Demon Lord is seriously limited ── status or something.

Otherwise, I have to wonder if Gertroud’s obsession with my body back at New Year’s was all an act. But Orphée Bleu swore back then that he’d ‘definitely get my body back.’

The only one who knows that Gertroud’s actually the original Demon Lord, Orphée Bleu, is me.

I’m keeping my mouth shut because if I tell Milly and the others, they’ll probably try to kill Gertroud. But lately, I’ve been thinking I should at least tell my father-in-law.

…Well, I guess I’ll talk to my father-in-law after I finish up some work.

I decided to prioritize tackling the mountain of paperwork in front of me instead of worrying about Gertroud for now.

”Alright, first things first, Elkisa’s temple… what’s this… being built in the north region of Westferm… a stadium with a capacity of 5 thousand people… construction costs… whoa! 250 large gold coins?! Mother-in-law, are you sure the numbers are right?”

My mother-in-law, who was working at the desk next to me, came over when she heard my panicked voice.

”What’s wrong, Mr. Kent? You’re shouting. Oh, this? It looks like this is the estimate Elkisa requested. It’s going to be a pretty impressive temple.”

”250 large gold coins is still way too much! We’ll be bankrupt!”

”Don’t worry about it. You see, Elkisa’s giving me the right to be the main banker for the gambling at the stadium. They’re letting us use Garuda Clan’s fighting tournaments for gambling, and South District loves to gamble, so it’ll be a gold mine.”

My mother-in-law was all smiles, but she wasn’t missing a trick when it came to making a profit.

The Garuda Clan’s sacred site, the Elkisa temple, was where their toughest warriors trained day and night, honing their skills in combat.

They seemed to be using it as a betting ground to recoup the construction costs.

”Father-in-law’s gonna flip when he hears about this. But we gotta make sure no one goes broke over this, so it’d be great if you could keep the stakes and payouts on the low side. We don’t want the whole town getting hooked and ending up in debt, that’d be a mess.”

”Got it. We’ll keep the stakes and payouts low. The main goal is to give the folks some entertainment, after all.”

 ”Still, 250 large gold coins… seems like a lot…”

”Huh? Come to think of it, Mr. Kent doesn’t know the Blackdagger family’s total income. Helga, come over here for a sec.”

Helga stood up from her desk and walked over to me when my mother-in-law called her.

”Lady Lila, what can I do for you?”

”Oh, Mr. Kent is griping about the 250 large gold coins needed for the temple construction. Helga, give him a rough idea of the Blackdagger family’s current assets.”

”Understood. We have roughly 25000 large gold coins in assets, including real estate and deposits in the Guild bank. Thanks to our territories doubling in size, our monthly income, after expenses, is around 60 large gold coins. This temple construction includes a new arena, so we should recoup the costs pretty quickly…”

Helga casually dropped some major news.

I hadn’t realized we were such big shots, but the Blackdagger family’s assets had skyrocketed.

Whether it was from monster materials or some bureaucrat’s clever idea, the bottom line was we had a scary amount of dough.

”Wha, really? 25000 large gold coins? Not 2500?”

”Yeah, 25000. As far as I know, the only other person who has this much is the Demon Lord, right?”

”So, how much is in the Guild account?”

”Don’t you want to check yourself? It’s a separate account from Lady Miriallia, and a separate one from the Blackdagger family’s account too. Check it every now and then, okay? You can check it now if you want.”

Helga told me to hide behind the desk and check the account balance on the card.

 One…ten…100…1000…

There was over a thousand gold coins in my account.

My personal account, so it’s like my spending money…right?

”Haha, so I’m a rich guy after all. Can’t really believe it though…”

Helga looked at me like I was an idiot.

”That’s right. Sir Kent is very wealthy, you see.”

”Mr. Kent, this makes me feel so much better.”

”Oh, sorry. I’m just kinda cheap, so I don’t really feel like I’m rich. Got a little carried away.”

My mother-in-law and Helga went back to their desks and got back to work.

Damn, I thought Milly’s assets would give me some financial leeway, but I never thought it would be this much…

I took a deep breath and got back to work on the pile of paperwork.

Next up was a document about the farm that Clarette and the other Roland refugees were planning to build.

”What’s this…a 2-thousand head dairy farm with breeding and insemination facilities…Breeding staff quarters…so most of Roland’s citizens will be working as breeders…Wait! What’s this?!”

 ”What’s wrong, Mr. Kent?”

My mother-in-law came over with that annoyed look again.

”Mother-in-law, what’s a ‘milking facility for peoples’?! I get that it’s for milking cows, but what does ‘people’ mean?!”

”Oh, that. ClaCla really wanted it built, apparently. There’s some kind of secret behind it…should I call her?”

”Yeah, please. I’ll let her know we’re willing to help financially, but she doesn’t need to do anything shady.”

My mother-in-law signaled to the Clerk in the office.

After a bit, Clarette came rushing into the office all flustered.

She’s been staying at the castle until the牧场 is ready, acting as Roland’s rep, and she hightailed it over as soon as I called her.

Her pal Ines tagged along too.

”Sir Kent, I think there’s been some kind of misunderstanding, and I’d like to explain. This is about the Minotaur species’ secrets, and I’d prefer to discuss it in a separate room…”

”It’s all good, you can talk in front of Mr. Kent.”

Ines, who came with us, leaped to Clarette’s defense.

”Alright, let’s hear it in the nap room.”

Me and the Clarette gang head into the nap room.

* * *

The nap room’s a simple space with a bed and a sofa, but it’s also where the Bureaucrat’s girls, Helga, and my mother-in-law hang out.

But every morning, it gets a good cleaning, so the sheets and blankets are always fresh and tidy.

 ”So, what’s this all about?”

”Oh dear, my my… Sir Kent is quite the eager one, isn’t he… IneIne, over here.”

”Huh? Me? Oh, um, Ms. Clarette?”

Clarette pulls down Ines’s maid outfit.

With a loud “poof,” Ines’s boobs pop out.

”Looks like your boobs got the squeeze again this morning.”

Clarette notices Ines’s bra is stained and asks about it.

Sure enough, after drinking my morning fill from Ines’s boobs, I filled her up with my milk.

”Well, yeah, I did squeeze ’em… but what’s that got to do with the milking facility?”

”Well, do you know about the ‘premium milk’ that’s even better than Minotaur milk?”

”Premium milk? Nah, never heard of it… I always enjoy the Minotaur milk, though…”

”Since ancient times, our Minotaur females have been offering the highest-quality Minotaur milk to successive Demon Lords, and somehow it’s come to be cherished as ‘Premium Milk,’ with a rare value equal to a bottle’s weight in gold.”

Guess even Demon Lord Orphée Bleu was a fan of Minotaur milk…

”So, what’s the deal with the dairy facilities for people?”

”To be able to produce Premium Milk, we have to consistently provide stimulation from milking from a young age. And yeah, there’s also the process of being milked while being seen by men.”

 ”That’s why it’s so rare──it’s a lot of work.”

”Exactly. But lately, a lot of Minotaur women who moved to the city have been spreading the word about Minotaur milk, so now young girls who can produce Premium Milk are all heading to the city. I’m the only one who can still make it here in the Roland territory.”

”So, you wanna revive that in the South District?”

”Yeah, that’s why I need the people dairy facilities. I’ll cover the costs with profits from the ranch and sales of Minotaur milk, so could you help out with the plan? Of course, I won’t just ask for a handout. Once we’ve got a successor for Premium Milk, you can have your pick of me, and I’ll prioritize supplying the ‘Premium Milk’ that’s said to boost magical power.”

Clarette was making a desperate plea to me.

She hasn’t transformed yet, so she still looks like a Minotaur.

”Mr. Kent, I’m counting on you too!”

”Ugh, fine. Fine. I get it. I’ll allow the production of Premium Milk at Roland Ranch. But here’s the deal: I’ll cover all the funds, and I don’t want any of that Premium Milk shipped out of the territory. It’s gonna be a gift for His Majesty the Demon Lord from me.”

”Awesome! If Mr. Kent helps with funding, we can gather the best girls and get a successor rolling in no time!”

”Got it. I’ll check with Sir Kent about shipping the Premium Milk. We should be good now to keep the Premium Milk flowing.”

”Hey, Ms. Clarette. Why don’t we let Mr. Kent try out the Premium Milk as a little pre-celebration? I’ll take care of Mr. Kent’s seed, no worries.”

”Oh my, really? Should we give it a shot?”

 ”Huh?”

 Ines suddenly snatched my glasses.

Standing right in front of me was a young Minotaur woman with brown hair and a sweet vibe.

Her chest was the biggest I’d ever seen, straining against her clothes.

──Handsome Guy Skill Activated [Clarette] Friendship Level Significantly Increased

Whoa, I turned into a Carrier.

I couldn’t help but react immediately to Clarette’s looks.

My brain was in a frenzy over the size of her chest.

 ’Captain! It’s a monster! No way! The enemy is a G… no, H… I… J… K! It’s a K-Class (King)!’
