Volume 6 Chapter 13 The Fate Of The Red Devil
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Milly just asked what we should do about the Red Devil crew she put together.
”I guess we could take them along, but… I can’t imagine we’ve got a place that can house over 8 hundred ogres…”
”How about we station them in Felward so they can handle monster hunts?”
”Yeah, but that might stir up some complaints from the hunting groups that are already based there… For now, it doesn’t seem like we can station them in Westferm either. If the Kingdom’s army is around, that could lead to some serious issues…”
”Sir Kent, what if we send them to the area where Ms. Oliv applied for rural development as militia? They could be mobilized if there’s an emergency and help with food production during peacetime.”
Over on the other side, Talia, who had been taking a break, chimed in with a suggestion for the Red Devil crew’s placement.
”Oh, right! Oliv did apply for that development permit. It’s a bit of a risky area, but the Red Devils can handle themselves and being mobilized as soldiers would really help me out too.”
”I think there were a couple of requests for setup along the road connecting Estfort and Godard. What do you think about that?”
I was a bit curious about how Talia knew about Oliv’s rural development application, but it seemed like she had some kind of connection with the bureaucrats.
”Alright, let’s station the Red Devils at those 2 spots… But maybe the one with the ‘crimson’ color can be part of the Estfort guard as extra security for Estfort. If they’re standing guard, it’ll definitely send a strong message.”
”That sounds like a solid plan. The guard unit should dress in a way that stands out to help deter crime. Fristoph will love that too.”
Fristoph actually commands troops on the front lines, but lately, he’s been focusing more on leading the security unit──dearuguard──tackling the crimes popping up all over Estfort.
Originally, since Christoph was often away, it just sorta happened that his crew would slide over to handle guard duty, keeping the peace and all that. But in Estfort, with all the monster hunting and crime mixed up together, we were having a tough time rounding up criminals.
Then, if we assigned the Orga’s ‘Scarlet’ carriers, we could nab the rowdy criminals nice and easy.
Plus, just having them around looked like it’d keep crime in check.
”Alright then, let’s get a female ‘Scarlet’ carrier to guard Sir Kent’s mansion. He’s got a new kid and all, so more guards couldn’t hurt.”
”Yeah, I’m trying to beef up my shadow guards too, but I’m not getting much love on that front. Like Talia said, might as well add more to the visible guards too.”
Milly agreed with Talia’s take.
”Looking good is a fair criterion, right?”
”Huh? Adding more to Kent’s detail? Sure, but let Giuliana know. She’s his personal slave already, might as well make her a sex slave too, no biggie.”
Without even asking me, the Orga girls’ fate was getting decided nice and quick.
I thought they might at least hear me out, but with the way things were going, I’d have said yes even if they didn’t ask. So Milly and Talia were probably just steamrolling ahead without my okay.
”Ahh, Ms. Milly, Ms. Talia, ain’t you gonna ask for my opinion?”
””Wha──!?””
Both of them were taken aback.
”Wait, you mean the Orga girls aren’t good enough? But Giuliana’s around, so that can’t be it, right?”
”Sir Kent not interested in women? Did you eat something funky!? I’ll, uh, treat you, so just take off your──”
”Wait, wait! I was just saying. The answer’s obviously yes, but… you two are just pushing ahead without me… sheesh.”
For a moment, I saw how they really saw me.
Probably thought the same way from the other mistresses too.
Sure, I like women, but… it’d be nice if they cared a bit more, you know?
The nickname “South District’s Stallion” was catching on, even among the people of Abyss Vena, and they started using it to refer to Kent Blackdagger in their stories and songs.
Sure, hearing about 20-something concubines and hundreds of mistresses, anyone would agree that’s a fitting name, you know?
But I kinda wished “South District’s Protector” would’ve stuck instead.
”Don’t freak me out. So Kent can just go and find a hot chick to mess with, right?”
Milly came to check in.
”…Yeah, that’s fine.”
”Got it. I’ll have the ‘Crimson’ ones pick out a girl who suits Kent’s taste.”
”Thanks.”
Gotta follow your desires, right?
Holding back is bad for you. It’s like poison.
So that’s how Red Devil’s fate was decided.
A few days later, most of the monsters surrounding Felward were wiped out, and the “another world monsters” around Abyss Gate disappeared, so they decided to call back the expeditionary force.
They left a few small Hunting Groups and the Golden Apostles in Felward to thoroughly search for any stray Beast Monster larvae.
The Red Devil battle produced about 50 new “Crimson” people, with 20 of them being female ogres.
Five of those were chosen by Milly and were assigned to be the castle guards.
Looking at their card data, they were all seriously skilled warriors.
The remaining 45 were assigned to the Estfortguard unit led by Fristoph to work on maintaining security.
All the other Red Devils were headed to the two planned settlements between Estfort and Godard.
They’d already sent the building supplies to the sites, so they would start building as soon as they arrived.
And so, after clearing out Felward, we hopped on the Black Wing and headed back to Estfort.
