Volume 6 Chapter 13 The Fate Of The Red Devil

”Stormdog’s gunning for Kent! Aurelia, stop it!”

 ”Got it.”

As Aurelia quickly approached the fast-moving Stormdog, she slashed at it with her beloved sword.

The Stormdog, built like a tiger, had its front leg cleaved off and buried its face in the ground, allowing Aurelia to drive her blade into its head for the final blow.

”Maybe it’s time to go for 6 arms…”

Aurelia infused magic into her third sword, the Sword of the Crimson King.

 ”It’s a total extermination mission, but… I’ve got this.”

After taking down the Predation Tentacles, they managed to avoid a situation where Beast Monster larvae were popping up every day, but there were still groups of monsters and ‘another world monsters’ hanging around the Felward area.

Leaving them alone would pose a serious threat to the folks in the South District, so they decided to wipe them out completely.

This decision was influenced by the postponement of the Gertroud extermination order due to riots against the Ghost Clan erupting across the Kingdom, as directed by the Demon Lord, Shifa.

The Ghost Clan, which had been hiding out in the Kingdom, started attacking farms and small towns, and even those kept as pets in the cities were starting riots.

Because of this, it seems there’s been a lot of damage across the Kingdom.

Gwain already had his extermination force, but their supply routes were cut off by Ghost Clan ambushes, leaving them stuck in the north.

Meanwhile, Fabulanova, leading her troops to the royal capital, found herself also responsible for the defense of her own territory, so she couldn’t move either.

In the midst of everything, South District got the order from His Majesty to delay the campaign, so my father-in-law’s army returned to defend Abyss Vena.

Lord Rosenkreuz has 5 thousand troops stationed at the old western outpost, currently being developed into Westferm, while Kondrad is taking a thousand soldiers to defend Nolans, just in case.

However, Gertroud, who we thought would launch a surprise attack on South District, was actually aggressively invading the eastern lords’ territories and expanding his control.

According to Nikka’s report, 4 of the lords──Casbertson, Coligny, Howard, and Troutner──who didn’t submit to Gertroud have already been wiped out.

It makes me wonder if he’s planning to rush in with all that new manpower, but it seems like the territories he conquered are all in the northern part of the eastern area, heading towards the Kingdom territory where Gwain is stationed.

”Kent! We’re in the middle of a fight. Focus!”

Milly called me a warning when I was thinking about it.

Even though I have the time to do it, it must be dangerous to think in the middle of the battlefield, so I stopped thinking for now.

”Yeah, sorry. We were in battle.”

With a swift motion, she aimed at the position where the Fire Falcon would pass, releasing an Ice Bullet.

The projectile sailed through the air and, with perfect accuracy, struck the Fire Falcon, encasing its body in a thick layer of ice.

”You, do you have enough magic left?

Lina asked with concern, but there was still plenty of magic left.

This time it was a sweep battle and annihilation battle, so I focused on increasing the level of Magic job titles, and used Magic mainly to bury monsters.

”Yeah, my magic power is also increasing compared to before. If it’s about this, I’ll still be fine.”

”If you get [Mage] or [Sage] jobs, you’ll be able to give more magical energy. You’re a person who can become all-purpose, not just a dexterous and poor job, so try your best.”

”Yeah, I’ll try my best to improve the magic game too.”

Lina cheered me on, so I fired off an intermediate-level attack spell, a fireball, at the monster again.

The goblins in the impact zone got thrown up into the air.

Once the battle calmed down, I took a look around and saw that the smaller hunting groups who hadn’t taken part in the raid were really getting into monster hunting.

The newly formed Red Devil, led by Bruyne, was racking up some impressive victories.

Some members of Red Devil had already paid off their debts, and those folks were getting upgraded gear, painted in a striking red as a personal badge of honor.

This created a trend where ogres who sported red gear were looked up to.

By the way, Giuliana has a crimson paint job and is recognized as the top ogre in my territory, set to become the next representative of the Ghost Clan in the South District.

Bruyne, a Kobold-type, is expected to take on the role of vice-representative.

”Wow, Bruyne’s actually pretty capable. He’s more than just a fluffy dog.”

Bruyne, who had been unexpectedly appointed as the commander of Red Devil, quickly dealt with an ogre who complained by nearly killing him. He reminded the ogres of the fundamental rule of the Ghost Clan: survival of the fittest, instilling both fear and respect among them.

He might look like a well-groomed pup, but Bruyne actually has quite the vicious streak.

However, he seems to be scared of Feria. The moment he spots her, he bolts, but he ends up getting caught and manhandled, looking completely wiped out.

Milly chimed in from where she was taking a break.

”Isn’t Bruyne like a mutant or something? I think he’s the first Kobold type to get a card.”

”Yeah, right? Kobold types usually live around ten years, if I remember correctly.”

”Yeah, but that guy’s already 15. Kobolds and goblins grow up way faster since they don’t live as long. At this rate, he’ll master his job level in no time──he might’ve even done it already.”

I’d heard Bruyne was leading the villagers in a Kobold town and taking out nearby monsters, which is why he ended up becoming the commander of the Red Devil. He was really impressive, leading the ogres to cut the enemy’s forces down and pick them off one by one with some serious skill.

He might actually be a hidden gem.

 I’ve decided to reevaluate Bruyne.

”By the way, what’s the plan for the Red Devil? Are you taking it to Estfort?”
