”Damn it! My arrows won’t hit!”
Liz’s frustrated voice echoes.
They’ll probably burn up before they even reach its main body.
We, the vanguard, can somehow get close thanks to Rena’s ‘Ultra Protection: Water’ effect, but whenever we try to close the distance, Salamander increases the flames erupting from its whole body.
We’re completely stuck in a defensive position.
”Pierce Fang!”
Asuka manages to get within a hair’s breadth, unleashing her technique…but it seems her Pierce Fang can’t penetrate its scales.

Rena, who has all-attribute magic, is focusing on maintaining her Protection magic.
Kazumi’s attack magic is unfortunately mostly fire-based.

(This heat… I can’t get close at all!)
I’ve enchanted ‘Iron Claw’ with water attribute, but the Salamander’s flames prevent us from getting close.
Without Ms. Rena’s ‘Ultra Protection: Water’ effect, the heat would be enough to burn my whole body; I can only feel safe if I keep my distance.
”This is… impossible to deal with…”
Ms. Simona, while holding her Greatsword, can’t close the distance with the salamander, and she spits out her words with what sounds like grinding teeth, looking frustrated.
Ms. Kazumi casts ‘Water Arrow’ and deals a little damage to the salamander, but of course, it’s not fatal.
Soon after, the salamander raises its front legs and attacks Ms. Simona and me.
The heat of the flames surrounding the salamander seemed to have decreased because it moved, so I dodged the attack and slashed at the salamander’s front legs, which had smashed into the ground, with my iron claws (Iron Kuro).

Ms. Simona, who dodged the salamander’s attack just like me, had slipped into its bosom and swung her Danpei (Greatsword) down on the salamander’s shoulder.
The speed and bulging muscles show that Ms. Simona has become a ‘Berserker.’

The salamander’s right shoulder scales are crushed by Ms. Simona’s super-heavy attack, and I could see its skin through the faint flames.

Ms. Simona grimaced as she endured the heat, and I covered my face with both arms, somehow enduring it as well.
Then,
I saw a flash of light on the salamander’s shoulder where I had cast my magic.
”Destroy it!”

The flames released from the salamander’s body were supposed to be the largest yet.
Engaging such a creature, Yamikirimaru’s katana struck the damaged shoulder with a slicing blow.
──Thump…
As the salamander’s right arm was severed and hit the ground, the flames that were spewing out vanished.
”Got it! Kansenmaru!”
As Ms. Asuka leaped, I caught a glimpse of the moment she released a thrust from her waist with Kansenmaru.
(Ms. Asuka’s Rank S movement… I saw it!?)
Ms. Asuka’s precise thrust pierced the salamander’s forehead, and the odachi sank in deeply… very deeply.
The salamander seemed to try to shake off Ms. Asuka, lifting its head greatly…
”This ends it!”
Ms. Martina, who had somehow ended up behind the salamander, brought both her dual katanas down on its head.
Likely, Ms. Asuka and Ms. Martina’s attack captured the brain.
Without even uttering a dying scream… the salamander’s massive body slowly collapsed to the ground.

”Is everyone in the vanguard okay? Nobody got burned, right?”

Ms. Simona, with a worried look from Ms. Liz, smiles as she sheathes the greatsword behind her back.

Ms. Rena takes a deep breath.
”Sorry, everyone… I’ll learn other attributes too…”
”Ms. Kazumi… don’t look so down.”
”That ‘Water Arrow’ seemed to be quite effective, actually.”
Ms. Kazumi, looking dejected, was comforted by me and Ms. Asuka.
”But Hiro, how did you get into the salamander’s embrace in the middle of that intense fire?”
”Yeah, are you really sure you’re not hurt or burned?”
Ms. Aluda and Ms. Meluda worryingly fussed over ‘the adult Mr. Hiroya’s’ body.
”S-stop tickling me. …I’m okay, no injuries.”
”How did you manage to engage the enemy unscathed?”
Ms. Liz, with a slightly suggestive touch, checks Mr. Hiroya’s body, seemingly concerned.

Noo was already collecting the Magic Stone left behind after the salamander disappeared.
”It’s the biggest one yet…”
”Amazing… it’s as big as a small watermelon.”
Both Ms. Liz and Ms. Martina were so surprised… their voices became very quiet.
The Magic Stone of the salamander that Noo showed everyone while holding it with both hands was… bigger than that ‘Minotaur’.
