Chapter 554 Liz Class, 19th Floor (Part I)
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The competition to the Great Labyrinth Garrison ended up with everyone going together because both Hernando and Esperanza were scolded by Gargantua.
When they arrived at the guild’s branch, Ms. Camilla and the other staff were just arriving.
At her reception desk, they submitted lists of the members going into the Great Labyrinth, organized by party.
Ms. Camilla, as always, was calm despite her surprise at seeing Gargantua’s members, including a member of the Four Dark Heavens and ‘Sage’ Milia.
She managed to complete the paperwork without getting flustered.
”I was surprised by the members, but I didn’t expect you to challenge from the First Floor.”
”Right? I was surprised too… well, she’s serious, you know…”
Milia, pointing to Gargantua behind her, replied to Ms. Camilla with a hint of complaint.
”My adventuring career is still young, and some of the members are rookies. I trust their skill, but…”
Gargantua, who was having Martina fix her hair, answered Milia with a very serious tone.
”Ms. Mira Degener, right? Considering your year of experience in Royal Capital and your rank D Thief skills… I think you would be fine up to the Fifth Floor, wouldn’t you?”
Ms. Camilla flipped through a ledger-like book, checking something.
”Plus… Mr. Hernando, Mr. Esperanza are rank B, and considering Ms. Gargantua and Ms. Milia’s skills… even with Porter Ms. Maya being rank E, I think the Tenth Floor should be doable.”
Principal Milia nodded vigorously in agreement with Ms. Camilla, but…
”For now, this is just a warm-up. I think it would be fine if we could greet Elberhardt in the ‘Closed World’ on the Fourth Floor.”
Milia, who turned around with a sorrowful expression after Gargantua spoke,
”…Indeed, even if it’s a high rank, it’s a good thing to approach matters with caution if it’s your first time.”
Ms. Camilla probably appreciated Gargantua’s cautiousness.
With a smile, she conveyed this.
”Hmm… then shall we go?”
When Gargantua called out, all the members nodded firmly.
Except for Principal Milia.
”Alright then~. But if we get somewhat accustomed this time… let’s challenge deeper areas next time, okay?”
”Yeah, let’s do that.”
Upon Gargantua’s response, Milia did a light fist pump and followed everyone.
”So, Liz, I’ll go ahead.”
”Ah, I think it’ll be fine, but… be careful.”
Gargantua and the others left the guild outpost and headed for the Great Labyrinth.
”Now then… we were starting from the Safety Zone on the 19th floor.”
”Right. And once we leave there…”
It’s the area of the floor boss.
”I don’t know what’s there, but I feel like I can dive anywhere with this group.”
Martina laughed brightly.
”Well, I’m off then. I’m planning to return around noon on the third day.”
Liz conveyed this to Camilla, and they all left the outpost together.

”Alright, are we going to ‘teleport’?”
Everyone gathered in a circle around Rena.
”Is everyone ready? ──Here we go? …’teleportation’, Famière!”
As Rena recited the spell and the password, the circle was enveloped in light.
* * *
The familiar feeling of flying ended… and when I realized it, we were standing inside the ‘Safety Zone.’
”Is everyone alright?”
After teleporting, everyone responds to Liz’s check with “No problems.”
”Once we leave here, we’ll be in the floor boss’s area right away. Let’s tighten up.”
Liz conveys this to everyone, and with Martina leading the way, they all leave the Safety Zone.
And, a large door at the end of the corridor.
This is the floor boss’s area.
When exploration ended last time, there was no sense of monsters in the floor boss’s room.
Martina investigated without stepping inside and it looked like one of the many ‘teleportation’ floor boss areas we’ve seen before.
”I think the boss monster that teleports here is ‘a set one.’”
Martina expresses the same conclusion from before.
Indeed, the only time a monster corresponding to the party’s rank appeared was when we faced the floor boss in the Third Floor, and a Minotaur appeared.
That place had various monsters being teleported, such as ogres or cyclopes, depending on the party.
All other ‘teleportation type floor bosses’ have the same boss monster appearing, regardless of the party.
”What appears is unpredictable, which is annoying.”
Kazumi says this, but doesn’t seem worried.
”There’s nothing to be scared of. We’re strong.”
”Yeah, with a reliable rearguard and…”
”The strongest vanguard is here.”
Simona draws her Great Sword from her back, Asuka holds onto Kansenmaru, and Dorothy readies her iron claws.
I check my Yamikirimaru at my waist and confirm my grip.
”Hiroya, Asuka, Simona, Dorothy. The 4 of you enter the floor.”
At Liz’s instruction, the 4 of us nod.
”Aluda, standby. Depending on the monster, I’ll have you join the vanguard or take on rearguard defense duties.”
Aluda holds her beloved hammer and nods back to Liz.
”Meluda is responsible for protecting Kazumi, Rena, and Noo as usual. Kazumi and Rena are readying their magic. Each can decide what type to use. Sound good?”
Meluda raises a large shield and nods with Kazumi and Rena.
”Alright then, Martina… once you open the door, you will need to erase your presence and wait inside. Got it?”
After giving everyone instructions, Liz readies her composite bow and nocks an arrow.
”Okay, I’m going to open it now…”
Martina opens the door.
* * *
It is a massive hall with rough rock walls, both wide and tall.
As I, Asuka, Simona, and Dorothy move to the center of the hall, a teleportation magic circle appears on the ground, just as expected, and radiates light.
It covers the entire floor of the giant hall…
”What is this heat…?”
Asuka mutters.
Just as she said, the temperature in the hall rapidly rises.
”This is…!? Extra Protection Water!”
Rena casts an advanced protection magic, and the temperature around us decreases.
After nodding to each other, the Vanguard members dispersed to all four corners of the hall.
──GROOOOAAAAAR!
Eventually, a crimson silhouette appears before us.
”A dragon!? No, that’s…”
”A salamander! This heat in the hall is emanating from it.”
I can see Asuka’s surprised expression through the poised Kansenmaru (to pierce).
And there’s Dorothy’s calm voice, seemingly from the other side of the silhouette.
”Simona! Are you okay with the heat over there?”
”Yeah, I’m fine! Thanks to Rena!”
I can hear Liz and Simona exchanging words loudly.
(The heat… seems manageable.)
In front of us stands a monster that resembles a wingless dragon.
Its body is covered in bright red, scaled skin, and although it’s only about half the size of Goliath the Dragon Demon…
(Flames are rising from its entire body…)
’This is quite a formidable enemy. Let’s use this as nourishment for Hiroya♡’
(Not that I needed you to tell me!)
Yamikirimaru──Responding to Lilith’s voice, I unleashed Hiroya’s power.
