Volume 7 Chapter 4 The Duo Sisters

The two blacksmith sisters moved into the villa workshop right away and diligently worked tirelessly to manufacture finely decorated Equipment that was constantly being commissioned.
The sound of metal being struck echoed throughout the villa at night, but no one complained about the elegance and splendor of the Equipment being created.
I procured various ores, gems, Magic Stones, and monster materials to be used as the foundation for those Equipment, and I conducted transactions with several merchant guilds in the Capital City.
Today, a trader who had become a contact through a merchant guild I had been doing business with came to my office to sell me something.
”My name is Poplar, the trading captain of the Poplar Trading Company. I hear that Sir Blackdagger is also knowledgeable about Magic Tools.”
A slightly stout Majin Clan man wiped sweat from his brow with a handkerchief as he approached me with a business proposition.
The man was the head of a medium-sized merchant guild in the Capital City that specialized in Magic Tools, and he introduced himself as Poplar.
”Magic Tools…I’m not very familiar with them…”
”Oh, no, we have information from Hector about your purchases! Since you’re in the Capital City, we thought we’d come and see you ourselves. Our company has the best selection in the world.”
Poplar seemed to know Hector and had information about me buying Magic Tools from him.
That Hector guy is selling customer information…
”Don’t worry. I didn’t buy Sir Blackdagger’s customer information from Hector. I’m just a trader, and I have connections everywhere.”
Poplar wiped sweat from his face with a handkerchief as he tried his best to steer the conversation towards a business deal.
”…So you say… I understand. Let me see the goods first… If it piques my interest, I’ll buy it, and if not, I’ll take it back.”
”Yes, then let me introduce today’s first item…”
Poplar took out a pair of thin-lensed, rimless glasses from the box she had brought.
”Glasses?”
”Sir Blackdagger is said to use special glasses… They’re called ‘Illusion Glasses’… The ones I brought today are a unique pair called ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’.”
Poplar pushed the glasses towards me, urging me to put them on.
I felt a sense of unease about the suspicious glasses and hesitated to wear them.
”What kind of effect do these glasses have? I don’t want them to be unremovable!”
”Yes, let me explain. These ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’ are a unique Magic Tool that suppresses the effects of Charm-type Skills to a certain extent. I have heard from the Carrierized concubines that Sir Kent possesses the rare Skill ‘[Handsome Guy]’ as a secret.”
I nearly dropped the glasses.
Poplar knew information about me that was only shared with the Carrierized concubines.
To the public, I was disguised as having only average Skills.
Annabella and Milly, who had been listening to the conversation, also became agitated.
The air in the office instantly filled with the presence of the shadow guards.
”…This is…uncalled for. As a mere trader, I don’t need such a large entourage? I gathered information and deduced Sir Kent’s information. To react so quickly, Sir Kent must be hiding his abilities.”
Poplar’s eyes narrowed.
His trader-like demeanor completely vanished, replaced by the aura of a seasoned warrior.
”Who are you? You don’t seem like just a trader. You don’t look like one of Gwain’s inept spies either… and not even like one of Fabulanova’s subordinates…”
Milly, too, seemed uncertain about Poplar’s true identity as her presence suddenly shifted.
”I have no intention of challenging Sir Kent. I have come to deliver a gift from my master.”
Poplar was pointing at the ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’ I was holding.
”Is this… for me?”
”Yes, my master was so impressed by Sir Kent’s attitude of self-restraint with the ‘Illusion Glasses’ that he wishes to gift you these ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’ instead. They will only raise friendliness to [favor], which, my master says, might be more convenient.”
The ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’ Poplar brought seem to be a magical tool that grants the ability to cap friendliness at [favor] when worn.
”I don’t just accept gifts from some unknown person…”
As I thrust the ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’ back at Poplar, a massive cloud of smoke billows from his belly, turning everything white.
”Cough, cough! What did you do!”
”Everyone, seize him!”
The sudden gas attack left us disoriented, and we lost sight of Poplar.
”Sir Kent! You are expected to receive an invitation from my master soon, so please accept this gift with no reservations.”
Poplar’s voice rang clear through the white smoke, but we couldn’t see him.
Soon, the smoke cleared, and Poplar was nowhere to be found in the office.
”He disappeared… What kind of guy just slips through our eyes like that…”
Milly seemed to be in shock.
The pride of the Dream Demon Clan, known for their stealth, was shattered as confidential information was leaked and their security was breached.
”Who is he… Definitely not just traders… So, what should we do about this?”
I fumbled with the ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’ left in my hands and showed them to Milly.
”A sinister item. The person who brought it was also suspicious… Could it be a trap?”
”Sure, glasses that only raise friendliness to [favor]… That might be just right for [Handsome Guy], but… What if I get cursed and can’t take them off? That would be a problem…”
I decided to call Lina.

When Lina arrived, I showed her the ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’ Poplar had brought for identification.
”Are you seriously planning to use that? Dear Big Sister Milly… please do something about this fool’s head… to even consider using a Magic Tool brought by such a shady person… how miserly can you get…”
”But, it’s a pretty rare Magic Tool, right? It seems a waste to just leave it unused…”
Lina, Milly, and Annabella let out a huge sigh at my words.
”Sir Kent… you’re one of the richest people in the Kingdom… throwing something like this away is no big deal.”
Annabella looked at me with a worried expression.
”For now, there’s no curse or anything on these glasses. I believe the skill effect will work as described… but who would normally wear something sent by someone unknown? Are you really that foolish? Or are you just thinking it saves you the trouble of checking the girl’s face?”
Lina fixed me with a piercing gaze.
Damn, as expected of Lina… she saw right through my desires… because, with the Illusion Glasses, I can only see the registered girl… but these over here have a wonderful feature that stops at mere affection…
”…So, what do you want to do, Kent? Wear those glasses? Or not?”
Milly asked for my opinion as usual.
It seems she’s still reeling from the shock of being outsmarted by Poplar.
Right now, I’m having the spies investigate Poplar’s true identity, but it seems there are no solid leads yet.
”I’ll wear them! I don’t want to be seen as the kind of guy who fears a nameless sender and refuses to put on glasses… besides, if something happens to me, Milly and the others will definitely help, right?”
”Of course. I won’t let anything happen to you, Kent.”
Milly looked at me with a serious expression.
”Then I’m reassured.”
I took off the ‘Illusion Glasses’ and tried putting on the ‘Charm-Blocking Glasses’.
There was no noticeable change in my field of vision.
”So, how does it look?”
”No noticeable change. No curses either.”
Lina tugged at my sleeve.
”Of course not… everyone here is registered in the ‘Illusion Glasses’, after all…”
Ah, that’s how it was.
With this face it was only natural that nothing would change.
”Just as Lina said…”
”Then, why don’t we try with Rosella and Rosana? They’ve finished their background checks and physical exams. I’ve been reported that both sisters have no issues with the Carrier transformation.”
Annabella suggested using the sister Rosella, in her pre-Carrier status, as a test subject.
I see!
They haven’t been transformed into Carriers yet!
Good thing I waited!
”Annabella, thank you! I’ll head to them right away! They’re in the workshop, right?”
”Huh? Oh, yes. Ah, wait, Kent!”
I immediately dashed towards the workshop.

Rosella and Rosana, at the detached palace workshop, were diligently working on the production of a Decorated Dagger as instructed by Milly.
Their figures were distinctly feminine.
Whoa!
They really look like women!
Ms. Rosella’s clothes are a bit see-through from the sweat, though!
Rosana… her breasts seem like they might spill out of her fire-resistant suit.
Wow, I didn’t know such good glasses existed… I’m seriously grateful to whoever gave these to me…
”…Sir Blackdagger? What’s wrong? You’re staring at us so intensely…”
Rosana stopped her work and came over when she felt my gaze.

”Ah, no. It’s just that something caught my attention.”
”Hee~ Is it possible that such a great Lord is concerned about us? Could it be about what I mentioned earlier about a lover? That was just me getting carried away by a sudden, wonderful idea, and I was a bit startled… I’d be relieved if you forgot about it. I had a bit of confidence that you’d look my way, but with such beautiful ladies by your side, there’s no room for an old lady like me.”
Rosella has turned down the offer to become my concubine.

Hearing Rosella’s story, Rosana raised a massive hammer.
Behind her, something like a heat shimmer wavered, and it seemed as if the sound of “rumble” could be heard.
”S-Sir Blackdagger! I hadn’t heard that Sister Rosella was by your side! So, you were after my sister’s body after all! I thought you were a good person!”
Rosana’s massive hammer was aimed at me.
”Rosana, stop! It’s blasphemous to point your tool of trade at Lord. If you’re going to use it for such a thing, give that hammer back now. You’re disqualified as a blacksmith.”
Rosella scolded Rosana harshly upon seeing her actions.
”Sister… but…”
”No buts! Lord has invested heavily in us, mere local blacksmiths, and even provided such a magnificent workshop. Moreover, he allows us to take 10% of the profits. There’s no better deal than this!”
Rosella, who had struggled with the management of her shop, seemed extremely satisfied with her current treatment.
However, due to the glasses’ effect, only ‘affection’ had risen, so it was likely that she would refuse if courted as a concubine in her current status.
…These glasses are too convenient.
With these, I won’t be flirted with by anyone from old women to young girls, and I can check their appearance up close… and if ‘affection’ rises, it’ll be easier to get help.
It’s a win-win.
Who could have given me such a wonderful item…
”Calm down, both of you.”
I removed my glasses and looked at their faces.
