Volume 7 Chapter 3 The Blacksmith And Jeweler Of The Capital City

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Aurelia’s hands were trembling as she took the scrap ore offered by Rosana.

”Look at that. They’re using a low-temperature furnace without even a flicker… How on earth did they manage to create such quality? It’s like witnessing magic.”

Milly was also amazed by the furnace that Rosella and the others were using.

It was an incredibly shabby setup, not at all what you’d expect from a blacksmith making equipment.

”Rosana had to force low-temperature forging with her massive hammer just to squeeze out some strength and flexibility… and even then, that was the best we could manage. If only I had more funding…”

Rosella sighed and slumped her shoulders with a self-deprecating laugh.

 …This might be a real find… Reina’s eyes were sharp, that’s for sure…

”Lord Kent… would it be alright to lend these two high-level materials and equipment?”

Aurelia seemed to have had a eureka moment, jumping ahead with the suggestion I was about to make.

”Sure. Milly, wasn’t there a forge in the palace?”

”Huh? Oh, yes, there is. It hasn’t been used in a while, so we’ll need to clean it up…”

”Alright! Decision made! Rosella and Rosana, I want you two to take another employment test. This time, we’ll provide all the materials and the workshop. Just come to the palace with your skills. And if there are any specific materials you need prepared in advance, let us know. We’ll cover all the costs. I want you to craft a sword with everything you’ve got.”

The two of them, who had been giving me a poker face, suddenly bowed deeply in surprise.

”Y-Yes! With those conditions, we’ll create the finest piece together with Rosana.”

Rosella replied clearly, her voice tense but determined.

The next day, after mobilizing the troops to clean up the workshop in the palace, a carriage arrived just in time for the two of them.

They had also successfully purchased all the materials they requested, sparing no expense from the traders in the capital city.

”Wooow! Big sister! So much high-quality silver ore! And the workshop has a proper high-temperature furnace, and the anvil is just perfect!”

Rosana was sparkling with excitement as she saw the materials and the workshop after getting off the carriage.

”Rosana! Don’t you dare slack off in front of the Lord! Whoa! They actually have Black Dragon scales! This place has Crimson Gemstone and Blue Gemstone too, and so many high-purity magic stones… I wonder how long it took to gather all of this…”

Rosella squinted while looking over the materials, precious stones, and magic stones they had requested for decoration.

The amount of money they used to gather all the requested materials was only about one large gold coin.

Compared to the amount Golerg charged for equipment, it was a steal.

I thought that if this resulted in high-quality decorative weapons, they could add it to South District’s export list.

”Alright, the materials are ready. Show us your skills! If you need anything else, just ask. We’ll even lend you workers.”

”…Lord…What kind of brain do you have? You’re investing this much money in someone like me, who has no experience…If we can’t make something you like, I’ll become your mistress, so please forgive Rosana.”

Rosella, with a serious expression, offered a solution for if they failed.

”Well, I don’t think it’ll come to that. But if Rosella wants to, that’s fine too.”

”Thank you. Now we can devote ourselves fully to the production.”

I’m already planning to hire both of them.

They passed the physical assessment, so unless they make something truly awful, they’ll definitely pass.

After 3 days of work, the sisters presented a single sword to Aurelia for identification.

”……Amazing…It may not be as good as Mr. Goleg, but the quality and sharpness are top-notch. …And the decorations elevate the elegance of Mr. Golerg’s equipment even further, increasing its value. If we put this on the market, it would be worth at least 2 large gold coins. This is a truly remarkable weapon…”

Aurelia gazed at the swords crafted by Rosella and her team with the same captivated expression she had when watching Sword Master Dalmoth’s blades.

The women around her were also spellbound by the beauty of the swords.

…Just as I expected, these sisters are a real find…who’d have thought they could create such beautiful swords…

”Hey, Kent… Do you mind if I place an order too? Mr. Golerg’s equipment is top-notch, but it’s all so plain. I want something from Rosella and Rosana for casual use. Naturally, they’re signing an exclusive contract with my house, right?”

”Hold on, Lady Miriallia! The Vermillionblade family is the one making a contract with them.”

”…That was the agreement, yes… but you’re using Blackdagger funds to pay them, aren’t you?”

Aurelia was tongue-tied at Milly’s interjection.

”Well, well, Aurelia will have them work in her territory, but they should prioritize our orders. I want them to keep making decorative equipment, not just military gear. Such beautiful equipment should be a specialty export of the South District.”

Rosella and Rosana, the creators themselves, stared back with stunned expressions.

”Yes, you two have passed. How about we go with a commission-based salary? I can give you 10% of the sale profits. In return, you’ll need to move to the South District, and you won’t be able to take orders from anyone else. Does that sound good?”

”If this one sells for 2 large gold coins…and the materials cost one large gold coin…that leaves a profit of one large gold coin…so 10% of that would be…one gold coin! Can we really take that much? We just lent our skills, after all.”

 Rosella looked surprised.

For them, who had been living like ordinary blacksmiths catering to citizens, one gold coin was a substantial sum.

”Yes, it’s fine. I believe your skills are worth that much. If you don’t like the commission, I can hire you on an annual salary of one large gold coin each.”

Rosana, hearing the salary amount, dropped a giant hammer in astonishment.

”Whoa, you guys…A single gold coin? Are you kidding me! How rich are you? We’d become wealthy just by working at your place for a few years! Don’t you realize how hard Rosella struggled to keep this place afloat?”

Rosana knew Rosella had been struggling financially, so she seemed flustered by this sudden stroke of good luck.

”Sir Kent. Rosella and Rosana, you’ll be taking them home, yes?”

Annabella, who was sitting next to me, whispered in my ear.

Annabella seemed to be preparing to conduct a physical check and background investigation on the two of them, anticipating that I would Carrier them.

”Yeah, not right away though. I’ll wait for Annabella’s results.”

”Understood. I’ll begin right away then.”

Annabella gracefully exited the room to start her investigation.

”I’ll make the first reservation. Rosella, I want you to make a dagger inspired by a Dream Demon. Rosana, can you make an alloy of gold and silver?”

”Uh, gold and silver? It’s not impossible, but it would be less strong than silver…It would definitely shine beautifully though…”

Milly started discussing the creation of new equipment with the two of them.

And so, I decided to hire Rosella and Rosana as my personal jeweler and blacksmith.

Both sisters agreed to a commission-based contract, and their first project was the dagger that Milly had requested.

Afterward, the equipment they created became known as the Rosella Collection and gained fame as ceremonial items, particularly among the nobility.

Though, their creations were also highly regarded as practical items.

Eventually, the South District military officers began receiving a variety of finely crafted daggers made by Rosella and Rosana.

This sparked a surge in women joining the South District military, hoping to acquire one of these highly sought-after items.

 *??? Perspective

”Oh, so Lord Blackdagger hired those sisters… I tried my best too, but Lord Blackdagger really is on a whole different level. I didn’t have that kind of confidence. Still, it seems like he attracts some great talent. Oh, I’m not saying you all are incompetent or anything.”

With that, I glanced down at the background check report on Lord Blackdagger laid out in front of me.

He was a Noble who had rapidly risen through the ranks over the past year.

He’s currently 16 years old, but it’s unusual that there’s no record of his life before he turned 15, no matter how much I investigate.

Whenever I try to dig deeper, the Dream Demon Clan’s assassination squad and the Dorman family’s guards always block my way.

However, watching how he manages his territory and military actions in the South District makes me feel like he’s operating with ideals similar to mine.

”Is Lord Blackdagger a Noble who meets your standards, my lord?”

My white-haired butler asked this question.

”So far, he seems to be an interesting man. Plus, his actions don’t quite fit the Noble stereotype, which is intriguing.”

”Indeed… Speaking of which, you received instructions from your father to entertain Lord Blackdagger, didn’t you? What do you plan to do?”

”My father probably wants to keep his options open by getting me closer to Lord Blackdagger. He’s as focused as ever on survival… My eldest brother has aligned with the Gwain faction and has become a soldier, while my second brother was placed as an economic bureaucrat under Lady Fabulanova. Now he wants to market me to Lord Blackdagger…”

The butler struggled to suppress a laugh as he listened to my words.

”He does seem to spend his days indulging in gourmet food and beautiful women, so your father is quite upset. This meeting with Lord Blackdagger is likely meant to give the useless third son a bit of motivation, according to him.”

I was feeling pretty fed up with the butler’s words.

”Motivation, huh? Seems like my father has lost it… Maybe it’s finally time to take over this house… I do want to build a close relationship with Lord Blackdagger for our territory, but I want to make sure of his abilities and ideals first.”

”Well then, I need to send an invitation to Lord Blackdagger… What’s the reason for the invitation?”

”Maybe a check-in during the campaign… But am I really inviting him to my mansion? Well, I’ll leave that up to the old man. Just come up with an appropriate reason.”

After handing the invitation task to the old man, I began preparing for work.

”I’ll be working today, so I’ll be late. I’m also stopping by the store.”

”Understood. Please make sure to leave any dangerous tasks to your subordinates.”

The old man bowed and left the room.

A blacksmith and her sister, who is a jeweler.

Kent is chasing women in Capital City.

 ~About Rosella~

Rosella dreamed of becoming a blacksmith. She trained under a famous smith in the Metal Refining region of the Black Dragon Dukedom.

But she struggled. No matter how hard she worked, the gap between species and gender made it feel impossible to succeed.

One day, her workshop got a quest from a noble of the True Demon Kingdom. They wanted a decorative sword sheath to show off in their mansion. Rosella was assigned the task.

At first, she wasn’t interested in decoration. But the noble’s rude attitude fired her up. That job made her realize:

 > “I can make weapons that look amazing and still work in battle.”

She hit the job limit for her [Black] card. To become a Jeweler, she had to delete one of her jobs.

 She chose to erase *Blacksmith*.

It was risky. She knew about Job Erasure Syndrome—losing memories or worse after deleting a job.

 And it happened.

Her memories became jumbled. Her physical strength, already low, got even worse. She couldn’t leave her bed for a week.

After a month of rehab, she returned to work.

But she wasn’t forging weapons anymore. She polished and finished weapons to gain Jeweler experience.

After That, once she became a Jeweler, she started getting commissions by name.

 Then… her master fired her.

 Rumor was:

 > *”Her decorated weapons sold better than the master’s Equipment.”*

Rosella wandered for years. She met Rosanna, an orphan. They opened a small shop on the edge of Capital City.

There aren’t many decoration jobs now.

Mostly, Rosella sharpens blades and repairs Equipment.

In her spare time, she still makes decorative swords.

 Rosella & Rosanna. They’re not blood-related.

But both grew up alone, so they’re as close as sisters.

And funny enough… Rosella is Rosanna’s given name too.

Since then, she’s been deeply grateful—and listens to everything Rossella says.

 Life Now

Rosanna works with Rossella at their shop in Capital City.

While helping out, she *somehow* gained the Blacksmith job.
