Volume 13 Chapter 214 Kohina Yukari, I Thought You Were Stupid, But You Really Were Stupid
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
’You think you can get by in this world with that attitude?’
’Whatever! It’s my business, alright?!’
From some point on, every time I opened my mouth, it was nagging from my mother and we were bickering every day.
That’s right… remember it now.
I think it was around when I started puberty.
At a party where children of the nobility gathered, a boy pulled a girl’s hair.
Not only the children around but also the adults didn’t even notice or say anything.
That was obviously wrong.
’Hey! What are you doing?! That’ll hurt!’
When I told the boy off, the adults who were watching us all started making a fuss.
My mother, hearing the commotion, rushed over from somewhere else.
’Yukari, what are you doing!?’
’What do you think, you can see for yourself! I told him off because he was pulling her hair!’
My mother, with her head in her hands, bowed to the boy who pulled the girl’s hair and his parents.
Looking back now, my mother, who had married into the family, must have been trying her hardest to protect this family after losing her partners and heads of the household.
As I grew up, I understood that part.
But, that doesn’t mean we get along.
Even if I could go back to that time with this memory, I would tell him off the same way.
’You always butt your nose into things, that’s why I told you to keep quiet over there today!!’
’What?! Are you saying you want me to ignore it!? I don’t like that!!’
That boy was holding a knife in his hand, intending to cut the girl’s hair.
It’s too late after something happens.
’Don’t say things like that! You should try to…’
’Ugh! I don’t want to hear nagging!’
Even if you say I should do better, I was just a kid back then, I couldn’t understand that.
Even now, I don’t even know if I’m doing it well.
Because of things like this piling up, my relationship with my mother gradually got worse.
Mother saw me like that and wanted to put me in an all-girls boarding school that only wealthy girls went to.
I hated the idea and ran away from home.
[I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me. Goodbye]
I must have left a note like that.
I scraped together my allowance and got on a late-night bus to Tokyo.
’Heh heh, little lady, you’re cute’
I still laugh about it when I think back.
I heard Tokyo had a lot of perverts, but I never thought I’d run into one 3 minutes after getting off the bus.
Well, she was probably just worried about me being a little kid all alone, so she just came over to talk.
’Whoa! Whoa! I was just joking around! Please, don’t press the personal alarm!!’
When I reached for the personal alarm, that adult suddenly looked flustered.
That pathetic pervert I met at the time turned out to be the president of the agency I later joined, Beyond Production.
Looking back, I guess I was still a kid back then.
I couldn’t even stay in an internet cafe alone as a kid, and if the police caught me, they would have handed me right back to my parents.
’If you’re not going home, why don’t you stay at my place?’
I probably would have been contacted by the president at that time.
Otherwise, my grandmother wouldn’t have come to pick me up right away.
’Ugh… Where did you get that attitude from? Why are all the women in this family so headstrong? Well, alright. Let’s go home. And make sure to thank the nice lady who helped you! If you come to my house, no matter how grumpy I am, you have to say hello and thank me too! If you can’t follow that rule, I’ll send you right back to your mother house!!’
My grandmother was even stricter than my mother, though she said it in one sentence.
But for some reason, things went well with my grandmother.
Maybe because unlike my mom, who tried to fit me into the mold of a noblewoman, my grandmother recognized my independence.
”Mmm…”
When I woke up, I propped myself up and rubbed my sleepy eyes.
Ah, I feel like I had a dream from my childhood.
I let out a big yawn and realized Aqua wasn’t beside me.
Oh, right, we did sleep together yesterday, didn’t we?
”So, where the heck did that guy go?”
Huh?
I could hear Aqua’s voice coming from the bathroom.
I quietly got off the bed and leaned in to listen at the bathroom door.
”Please! Can you come all the way to Shiga for me?”
Huh?
Coming to Shiga?
Who in the world is he talking to?
”What? You don’t want to go for my sake!?”
Heehee!
I almost burst out laughing imagining Aqua getting rejected over the phone.
Hmm, I don’t know who he’s talking to, but any girl who can resist him is a good woman!
”Come on! Think of it as a favor for Kohina-senpai!!”
Wait a minute!?
Why’d I get dragged into this!?
You know it too, but I’m not that popular!!
”Huh? You’re coming? Got it! I’ll be waiting in Shiga!!”
What!?
Could it be my fan!?
Should I give them an autograph, or a handshake, or maybe even a photo op?
Oh, should I throw in a hug too?
Ugh… it’s fine if it’s a girl, but hugging any boy besides Aqua is a definite no way, and, wait, that’s not the point!!
After confirming Aqua’s call had ended, I hurried back to bed.
”Huh? Kohina-senpai, you… were awake?”
You and Emily-chan, Kaede, and Inko can never lie.
That’s what I like about you 4.
”I just woke up, but is something up? Were you on the phone with someone?”
I decided to poke around a bit about Aqua’s call partner.
”Um, well…”
This guy is really terrible at lying.
His eyes are totally swimming!!
”Were you on the phone with Kanon-san or something?”
”Oh, uh! Yes, that’s right!!”
That’s definitely a lie.
The call partner… don’t tell me it’s a secret girlfriend or something!?
If you’re dating someone, you need to introduce them to everyone first!
Keeping it from Kanon-san and the others is absolutely not okay!
You’re too easy to fool!!
I glare at Aqua with a deep, piercing gaze.
”W-well, let’s head out to grab some breakfast instead. I’m starving.”
”Yeah, we might as well go somewhere nice for a proper morning meal.”
”Alright,” I say, “if we go all the way to Shiga Prefecture, I’ll find out who you’re cheating with.”
I compose myself and leave the hotel with Aqua.
”Kohina-senpai! Let’s hit up this café!”
”Sure, why not.”
Hey, wait a sec!
I’ve never heard of a mini loaf of bread coming out all chunky like that!
We could’ve made it a set with some grilled onigiri, maybe.
But, surprisingly, it went down pretty easy.
The side of maple syrup was pretty tasty, too.
”How about the photos?”
”They’re okay, I guess.”
The photos I posted got a so-so response, but I’ve already saved up enough for the trip.
I stayed over last night because it was late, but now I’m just moving to reach the goal.
”Then let’s make our way to Shiga Prefecture.”
