Chapter 119

It was “Amiras merchant guild” who apparently helped Iris go to Dungeon City.
As I stepped into the shop, I handed the sealed letter to the attending female clerk, requesting her to deliver it to the guild master.
While I waited, browsing the store, the clerk returned with another woman in tow.
”Sorry to keep you waiting.”
She was a beautiful woman in her early thirties, with long brown hair tied in a bun at the back of her head and a somewhat sharp gaze.
Clad in a dress and a jacket, her chest strained against the fabric more than the clerk who had taken the letter.
”I am Casa Amiras, the president of the Amiras Merchant Guild.”
Swoosh, rustle.
Even though her gesture was likely unrelated to my gaze, Casa bowed slightly as she introduced herself, causing her chest to sway.
I couldn’t afford to be distracted, so I decided to introduce myself as well.
”I’m an adventurer from Hooters, named Koji.”
”…”
As I declared my name, she narrowed her sharp eyes, staring at me intently as if appraising my worth.
Probably because I looked like an ordinary young man, and it was hard to believe that someone like me could have brought Iris here.
Only a few people should have known about Iris leaving this town, but her disappearance might have been leaked by her household staff.
It wouldn’t be surprising if she suspected I was using that information to approach her for some kind of exploitation.
After all, she was the guild master, and by my standards, a beautiful woman with a great figure.
But had there been something suspicious about the letter, despite it being written by Iris, that made her doubt?
As I pondered this, she asked about the very thing that had aroused her suspicion.
”Excuse me, but why was that letter unusually warm? Even if it was kept close, it felt as if you were indoors just moments ago.”
Ah… so the warmth of the letter, not its content, was what made her suspect forgery.
The reason was that the hot water bottle I had tucked away was combined with a letter I had also slipped into my pocket to prevent it from falling out.
So, Ms. Casa must have thought that the letter was written in a cozy room nearby.
Of course, the letter did have Iris’s signature on it, confirming she was with me on the way back, so it wouldn’t be strange if it had been written close by.
Still, as we moved forward, we’d definitely be heading to a more secluded area, and it was only natural to want to clear up any suspicions.
With that thought, I reached into my pocket and pulled out the hot water bottle wrapped in fabric to show it off.
”This is why it’s warm.”
”What’s that?”
Well, I’d never seen anyone use one before, and it didn’t seem like they were being manufactured or were common at this point.
Iris and the others had found it pretty unusual too.
I gave a simple explanation.
”It’s a tool that holds hot water to warm up your body.”
”Ah, I see. The fabric wrapping is to prevent burns, right?”
”Exactly.”
Just as I was answering Ms. Casa’s questions, a female staff member next to us jumped in with interest.
”Wow, can I touch it?”
”Go ahead.”
There was no reason to decline, so I gave her my permission.
Once she touched the hot water bottle, it was obvious she wanted one for herself.
”Oh, amazing! It’s so warm! I love it! Is it sold at Hooters?”
”Um, it’s a prototype, so it’s not for sale.”
”Oh, really? With this cold weather sticking around, it’s going to be rough at night with all the blankets piling up. It gets heavy and makes it hard to sleep, you know?”
My fingers twitched.
As she spoke, the female staff lifted her arms to show off her chest.
”If I had this, I might sleep better at night! If someone were to give it to me, we could keep each other warm… depending on the person, of course…♡”
She wiggled her fingers, seemingly playful with her invitation.
Not really understanding why I appealed to her enough to get such a proposition, I was intending to decline. But right then, Ms. Casa opened her mouth.
”Marisa, stop that. Since it’s still in the prototype stage, there’s no way we can let it slip into the hands of outsiders, right?”
”Come on… just one shouldn’t be a problem, right? Please?”
The woman named Marisa shot back at Casa, then took my free hand and pressed it against her left chest.
*Squeeze!*
”Mmm♡ How does that feel? If you’re interested, I can let you enjoy another one♪”
*Jiggle…*
Marisa continued to sway her other chest, inviting me even more.
Just then, Casa once again interjected, stopping Marisa in her tracks.
”I told you to cut it out, didn’t I? This has caused enough trouble already.”
”Is it really my fault if people just expect things on their own?”
”You say that, but it’s the way you word things that causes misunderstandings.”
”That’s just people jumping to conclusions.”
”You really are something…”
Casa looked exasperated at Marisa’s retorts, but while she dealt with Casa, Marisa turned her gaze back to me.
”Oh, but this time is different, right? You came all the way from Dungeon City looking so put-together. Surely you must have some noble lineage, don’t you? I wouldn’t tease someone like you and lead you on just to leave you hanging!♡”
