”…I’m sorry for making you treat me”
After Liz finished the emergency treatment on my back, she started to treat the arrow wound of the female demon (Vaize).
Well, that’s just like Liz──very ‘Famière’-like.
”It’s really just a simple treatment. I just compressed the wound to stop the bleeding, so you should get proper treatment soon, okay?”
”Thank you. It seems to be a wound that won’t regenerate easily”
”So, what are you going to do now?”
As I asked the female demon (Vaize), who was wrapping a bandage around her stomach, she looked up and tilted her head.
Her cold and expressionless beauty opened her eyes wide and put on a confused expression, which was kind of unfair.
”In this body’s condition, I can’t be of any use in battle… so I’ve decided to return to the base”
”Be careful with that wound on your way… Wait, can’t you use ‘teleportation’?”
The female demon (Vaize) shook her head lightly at Liz’s words.
…Huh?
What does that mean?
”My ‘teleportation’ is only for ‘short-range’. But, I do have wings, after all”
The female demon (Vaize) stood up and spread her wings as she spoke.
”Wait a moment. ──Here, this is a keepsake from your companion”
I handed the Magic Stone of the demon (Shunel) that I had picked up earlier to the female demon (Vaize).
It was a pretty big one.
”Thank you very much. …He was a demon with excellent power and speed──”
The female demon (Vaize) glanced at the Magic Stone in her hand and then put it away in her pocket.
”──I will report to Lord Three-Face that ‘Lord Hiroya’s companions cannot be his weakness.’”
”Wait, what does that mean…?”
The female demon, Vaize, lifted the corner of her mouth meaningfully as she was about to be questioned by Liz, and then she turned and flew away.
”Hey, you! I still have more questions!”
Just when I tried to chase after Vaize following Liz.
──Boom!
A sound and vibration echoed from the direction of the ‘Goblin Forest’ behind us.
When I turned around, a pillar of fire shot up high for a moment… and then it disappeared.
”I should hurry! Those are the companions we judged to be ‘the easiest to capture!’”
After saying just that, Vaize soared high into the sky… and flew off far to the east.
”‘The easiest to capture,’ huh…?”
”It’s Gieze and the others! They probably finished ‘exploring the Great labyrinth’ and are returning to the base!”
Liz turned on her heel and started running towards Raetia.
”Hey! Where are you going? Gieze and the others are over there──”
”It’s faster to go back to Raetia and head there by horse! It’ll be fine… even though they’re tired from exploring, they’re not the kind of people who would fall behind the enemy…”
I nodded in agreement and returned to Raetia with Liz at ‘Rank S speed.’
(If it’s just to Raetia──we should be able to manage somehow)
We continued moving at high speed to our limit.

(These guys… are strong!?)
In front of the guild branch at the Great labyrinth’s base, we faced 2 demons.
Around us, many adventurers were down and injured.
Fortunately, it seemed they were not dead.
We left Eluda and several other ‘Tank’ class adventurers to guard inside the branch, and together with Violet, Gorge, and the other vanguard class adventurers, we entered into battle with the suddenly appearing demons…
(Eight vanguard class adventurers… in an instant…!?)
We charged in bravely, but were instantly scattered by one tall, skinny demon.
”An Archdemon… Sister Gieze… Don’t be careless. These guys are called the Sixteen Demon Generals, they are close servants of the Demon King Four Dark Heavens”
”Sixteen Demon Generals…?”
Violet, who had her katana drawn, and was closing the distance with the demon, the name she said had never been heard before… but it was definitely strong.
(That speed… No doubt it has entered the rank S realm…)
”Violet! Mr. Gorge! Face each other!”
At my command, the two of them turn their backs to each other.
”The opponent will attack at rank S speed. It’s regrettable, but with this much speed difference, ‘Obu Muso Style’ won’t work. Draw your swords and prepare for the opponent’s attack.”
The 3 of us, with our backs to each other, draw our swords and turn our vigilance to all directions.
Even the scrawny demon is a tough opponent, but the fat demon lurking behind is also concerning.
”Hey, you little demon… it seems you know who we are. After all, I am a Four General, Groce, who serves Three-Face.”
”Me’s the Third General, Feth.”
The fat demon approaches us, but the tall demon raises his left hand and stops it.
”Three-Face told us to ‘don’t kill them. Capture them.’ You’ll turn this whole area upside down.”
”So me’s just supposed to stand around and watch?”
”I’ll handle the fighting. You help carry these fallen ones outta here.”
Two demons who completely ignore us and talk to each other.
”We’re being really underestimated…”
”Don’t get worked up, Gorge. They always talk like that.”
Even between the two demons’ cocky and nonchalant banter, there was a tense atmosphere around us.
”Well… Let’s go…”
The tall demon (Groce) disappears, and a powerful killing intent pierces through my whole body.
(What’s under my feet… is it coming from the left!?)
The speed comes from entering the S rank territory.
It’s a speed so fast that it’s hard to see, but I can’t be fooled by the ‘flow of air’ and the ‘dust’ dancing at my feet.
”Sister Disciple!”
”Violet!”
Violet and I swing our drawn katana almost at the same time.
I’m on the left, and Violet is on the right.
If we just stay like this, we would only clash our blades with each other…

Our blades were… caught by the long claws of the tall demon (Groce).
It crossed its arms right in front of me, stopping the strikes coming from both sides.
”These guys… are pretty tough…”
The moment the whisper escaped from the demon (Groce), Violet was knocked away.
They probably thought she was small and didn’t have much strength.
A whip-like kick coming from its long legs hit her directly.
”Ugh…!”
Small Violet clutched her stomach and crouched about 10 meters away.
”You bastard!”
Gorge, who was behind, swung down his bastard sword from a high stance as he turned around.
The katana, enchanted by Karina with wind just before heading into battle with the demon, locked onto the target faster than usual.
But──
”Is this not enough!?”
I couldn’t catch the moving demon (Groce) again and cut through empty air.
(No good! I can’t predict its movements!)
Just as I was about to reset my stance with Kaenmaru (blazing flame) and sharpen my senses to be on guard…
A burning pain shot from my abdomen to my chest.
My arms, which were holding Kaenmaru (blazing flame), were suddenly tossed upwards, while at the same time, a bad noise like scraping came as my arm armor was sliced.
(Claws!? Did I get cut…?)
In my fading consciousness, I saw Kaenmaru, which slipped from my hand, sparkling as it danced in mid-air with its red blade…
