”I heard that Lord Kent likes it with tails… will my tail be used too?”
”Well, if Lady Elkisa doesn’t like it too much, I think it won’t happen. But… you should try it at least once. Once you’re used to it, you can’t live without it!”
Lydiane’s cheeks turned red as she thought about her time with Lord Kent, looking shy and flustered.
What kind of thrill makes such a smart woman look so lewd?
”Ms. Lydiane has a mischievous grin… Well, if I had Sir Kent’s… I’d probably look the same!”
The bird-woman, who was decorating the room with Lydiane, giggled while looking at us.
Her name is Liliana, the strong sub-leader of the all-female Black Bullet hunting group from the South District Margrave.
She was chosen for the elite team due to her shooting talent and unique bird flying skills.
”Liliana, does he use your wings for that too?”
”Yeah, usually it’s with Noel. We gets all sticky when we do that!”
A small bird-girl with white wings nearby turned to us.
”Sir Kent can’t get enough of Noel’s wings, he definitely gets Liliana’s all messy too. So, I always help Liliana clean up!”
She was also chosen for the beast king festival, saying she participates to protect Liliana.
”…So, they get all messy, huh…”
I looked down at my tail, listening to their conversation.
Just then, 2 women entered the room.
”Lady Elkisa, don’t worry! I heard from Ms. Annabella that Sir Kent’s… is great for beauty!”
Ines was the first to enter the room.
She worked as a maid for Lord Kent and was very special to him, getting milk from a Minotaur every day.
Recently, she helped open a farm just for Minotaurs, and I heard Lord Kent visited and liked it a lot.
Even though she was a maid, she was also a strong Monster Hunter working closely with Lord Kent.
”Ines… is that true-nya? I didn’t know because I’ve been hunting a lot-nya. I never thought I’d be invited to the Beast King Festival-nya. My mom refused to be a host and got cast out by the village, so I hated the idea of the festival. But for Sir Kent, I’d happily join-nya!”
I froze when I saw the next person come in.
She looked exactly like the Beast King Vanquish from an old scroll in the ancient temple.
”Ah, who are you?”
I pointed at the cat-like woman with shaking fingers.
The woman looked a bit confused but quickly smiled and greeted me.
”I’m sorry-nya. My name is Manon-nya. It’s nice to meet you, Priestess Elkisa-nya. I’ll gladly help with the Beast King Festival-nya.”
Seeing Manon’s bright smile, I thought of the Beast King Vanquish.
According to the secret texts of the Beast King Priestess, after losing a battle to the fallen god Orphée Bleu, Vanquish gave herself to Orphée Bleu and served the Demon Lord alongside the surviving Garuda races to fight monsters.
She got a big scar on her face and didn’t want to be remembered, so all paintings and statues of her were destroyed.
That’s why the ancient scrolls were the last place to see what the Beast King looked like.
Right in front of me stood someone who looked just like the Beast King Vanquish from that scroll.
”So, you are Lady Manon… Where were you born?”
”I used to live in a cold village with my mom, but now I live in the South District since she passed away-nya.”
Manon was born in the East.
Her mom was from a family that served at the Beast King Festival, so maybe Manon was linked to the Garuda Clan’s nobles.
Also, I felt her fur grew a little differently from normal cats.
Could it be… that she holds the soul of the Beast King Vanquish…? She really looks just like her…
”Was Lady Manon’s mother a noblewoman?”
”Na? My mom? She died before I became an adult, so I don’t know much, but I think not-nya… She did mention wanting me to be the leader of Garuda, though. Life was tough since we were outcast, and she had hopes for me-nya… I became a purple cat like she expected, but she died before seeing it-nya.”
Manon looked a bit sad, remembering her mom.
”She’s passed away… Maybe Lady Manon is indeed born into a noble line of Garuda… and has blood from outside the 6 Garuda tribes…”
Manon might be from the extinct panther tribe of the Beast King Vanquish.
The Garuda Clan lost the tiger, panther, bear, and raccoon tribes in the battle against Demon Lord Orphée Bleu, now made up of wolves, minotaurs, foxes, cats, and birds.
Including the Majin Clan’s rabbits, they originally had ten tribes.
The 4 extinct tribes were strong fighters, equal to the Demon Lord’s army, but they had no magic defense and were wiped out by Fortesia’s Magic Corps, even to the babies.
”Nya? Aren’t I a cat tribe!? My card says I’m a cat tribe-nya!?”
Suddenly, she was confused by the remark from me.
”…Maybe your mother knew… that you’re not of the Cat race… Perhaps Lady Manon’s family has always registered as Cat. Panther and Cat are similar, so if the blood thins, being registered as Cat is not strange.”
”…Huh!? Am I a panther-nya!? I’ve never heard or seen that name before-nya!? Elkisa’s jokes are too much-nya!”
”I’m not joking… I wish it were a lie…”
The Beast King said panthers would destroy the world.
They have a special ability called [Devour], which gives them great power.
Beast King Vanquish also devoured monsters, becoming strong, winning in Garuda’s fights, and becoming the Beast King.
But in the final battle, she was charmed by Orphée Bleu and surrendered, which was a part of Garuda’s sealed history.
”Is Lady Manon’s [Devour] skill unlocked?”
I ask her, worried if she has the [Devour] skill.
Manon tilts her head, confused at the mention of the [Devour] skill.
”I don’t have that skill-nya. I focus on Sniper stuff for shooting and long-range skills-nya. Sir Kent even praised my Sniper skills.”
”S-Sniper? But Lady Manon doesn’t fight up close?”
”I leave the messy fights to Noemi and Kerstin-nya. My job is to take down monsters from a distance-nya. I love hitting enemies from far away-nya!”
Manon stood proudly, her chest puffed out.
She looked just like Vanquish but preferred to fight from far away instead.
I felt relieved by Manon’s words.
That’s because I thought only close-range panther species like Vanquish could use the [Devour] skill.
”Oh, that’s good then…”
”Huh!? Elkisa, the priestess, is a weird person-nya!”
”──Hey, Ms. Manon. You shouldn’t say that. Lady Elkisa is an honored guest of Sir Kent. Plus, she is the high priestess of the Garuda Clan.”
Ines scolded Manon.
But if Manon is the reincarnation of Vanquish, then I exist to serve her.
She’s someone I need to keep an eye on…
”It’s fine. I think manners aren’t needed outside of public. Anyway, we need to prepare for the Beast King Festival. Where do we use those pink lights?”
”I think we should put them at the entrance. We should make the lighting dim to set a sexy mood for Sir Kent-nya!”
While I thought about watching Manon, I decided it was more important to focus on preparing for the festival for Lord Kent.
