”…Talia Orancrest, can I ask you something?”
I was in the dark room made for the high priest in the shadowy shrine.
The only light came from magic, and since there were no windows, no outside light came in.
This room was like this because the Beast King Priestess must be an albino woman, and for them, sunlight was just as dangerous as death.
So, the Garuda shrine built in Westferm depended on magic light and was designed to block all outside light completely.
Because of this, I couldn’t tell if it was day or night.
But since Talia was here, it must be past sunset.
”…Well, if I can answer, I will…”
The young fox woman in front of me was the daughter of the one who killed my father, a real sinner who brought trouble to the Garuda Clan.
But she was also the one who worked hardest to build this shrine.
With her and her master, Kent Blackdagger, the people of Fenrir and my family, except my father, had gathered in Westferm.
I had mixed feelings about my family, but Talia Orancrest was needed to keep the new Garuda Clan shrine alive.
”Well, actually, it’s about Lord Kent…”
”Huh? Sir Kent?”
Talia, waiting nervously, suddenly relaxed.
She must have thought I would ask her something else.
”Actually, I asked for donations myself, but I’m puzzled that such a huge and grand mausoleum was built so easily. I heard that over 80 percent of the cost was covered by the Blackdagger family.”
I was sweating on my hands.
After all, compared to the original mausoleum, this one has over twice the space and many grand sculptures.
When I asked Lady Aurelia about the cost, I thought I heard it wrong.
I didn’t want the Blackdagger family to pay everything, so I asked the Garuda Clan for donations under the priest’s name, but the results were not good.
”Sir Kent must think of it as paying for my family’s mistakes. But… was it not to your liking? The design is by Lady Lila herself…”
I was stunned by Talia’s words.
Who in the world would be foolish enough to give almost 3 hundred large gold coins just because the bride’s family caused trouble?
”N-No! I really like this mausoleum. But still, isn’t it too expensive? Even if they ask for it back, the tax from Fenrir territory won’t be enough for thousands of years.”
Fenrir territory is a holy place for the Garuda Clan, but the only income was from the money that pilgrims dropped; there were no real industries.
So, even though it’s a holy place, the income was limited.
I thought of asking Lord Kent for a small mausoleum, but somehow it became a very impressive one with a stadium built in!
The mausoleum and stadium were completed thanks to Lord Kent’s donations, but I hardly had the funds to maintain it.
I wanted to talk to Talia about this, so I called her today.
”Since Lord Kent donated, you don’t need to pay it back. Plus, my Orancrest family will cover the maintenance costs. For that reason, Sir Kent has entrusted the stadium’s management to me.”
”…Is that true…?”
I feel relieved when I hear Talia will cover the costs.
I think the yearly cost will be quite a few large gold coins.
”Yes. We agreed to take 60% of the betting earnings from the arena to cover the shrine costs, and the rest goes to the Blackdagger family, so don’t worry.”
”Um… is that really okay? Lord Kent won’t make much profit… Even though it’s a holy place for the Garuda Clan, there won’t be that much money.”
I know my father struggled before, using little donations to pay for repairs and food for those working at the shrine. I couldn’t believe Lord Kent was doing this.
”Sir Kent does not care about profit. He probably thought it would be fine to pay that much to Priestess Elkisa. He is not a greedy man…”
”…Could Lord Kent want me?”
”I think so. Sir Kent has no limits when it comes to beautiful women…”
Talia speaks calmly, not changing her expression.
I had heard many times from women in the South District about Lord Kent’s behavior, but I never knew he wanted the Beast King Priestess.
”Me… I am to serve the Beast King… but there is no rule against marriage… Hmm, he desires me…”
The Beast King Priestess, known as ‘Moon Goddess,’ can marry or have children while doing her duties, with no strict rules to follow.
”Sir Kent gets very excited about our Garuda Clan’s tails and feathers… I have had my fox tail covered in bodily fluid many times in my marriage customs…”
Talia’s face, which had been emotionless, turned slightly red.
”…I heard that the fox marriage custom is with the same partner only once… but to be asked many times? Our tails and feathers are very sensitive… and to use those places for sex…”
”…Sir Kent has asked for me… sometimes, in battle, I can’t help but get my tail touched… I try to say no gently, but I just can’t resist…”
I was surprised by Talia’s confession.
No normal person would play with a tail in a fight, even if they were a mistress.
Is Kent Blackdagger just a lovesick man… or is he a great hero? Can I really trust my safety with him?
”Anyway… if Lord Kent wants me, then I must answer… if my presence helps keep the temple safe, then the Beast King Vanquish might forgive it…”
”…Lady Elkisa, what a fine decision. How about we welcome Lord Kent to this temple? We can gather the mistresses of the Garuda Clan and hold a Beast King festival to improve their treatment in South District Margrave.”
Talia’s mention of the ‘Beast King festival’ usually means inviting beautiful girls from each tribe to celebrate the new leader of the Garuda Clan, but Talia was suggesting it for Kent Blackdagger.
”A Beast King festival? Talia, are you serious? The Clan Leader is Nokin. Inviting Kent Blackdagger is strange… and he’s from the Majin Clan…”
I was shocked by Talia’s crazy idea.
Even though the Beast King festival is usually for the Garuda Clan Leader, she wants to do it for the Majin Clan’s Kent.
The festival is like a way to arrange marriages with girls from different tribes, just like how Talia’s father, Def Goberg, had his first wife from the fox tribe but many mistresses from others.
”…The Beast King Festival sounds grand, but if it’s for Sir Kent’s concubine, all the Garuda tribes will come. We just need to gather the Garuda Clan to host Sir Kent. I will talk to the concubines, so if Lady Elkisa joins, everything will go smoothly…”
Talia had a sly smile on her face.
At first glance, Talia seemed quiet and calm, but she was known to be Lord Kent’s clever advisor, involved in many schemes.
”…W-Will we really hold the Beast King Festival…? Just my presence will make everything work… Okay. I will write a letter to Lord Kent, asking him to join the festival. I will leave the rest to Talia.”
I decided to invite Lord Kent to the Beast King Festival.

A few days later, Talia led the preparations for the Beast King Festival, and the venue was decorated in a way not seen before.
The decorations drew cheerful people, especially for the special room where clan leaders would bond for prosperity.
”…This place is flashy… I will give my first to Lord Kent here… I’m feeling a bit nervous…”
I blushed as I looked at the big round bed covered in bright pink fabric.
”Don’t worry. His Excellency Kent is kind…”
The one busily decorating the room was Lydiane, a wolf kin like me.
She served Lord Kent as the vice leader of the Red Valkyrie Hunting Group and had dedicated herself to him for life, offering him a collar. I heard she was a soldier in the Capital City.
Now she is here, and Lord Kent chose her to lead the women’s only Hunting Group, the Red Valkyrie.
She has produced many talented young leaders.
